22squared | Atlanta, Georgia 22squared turned to Gensler to develop a workplace strategy that would promote cross-disciplinary ways of working. Prior to the renovation, the space’s natural light was reserved for the private offices and conference rooms but with Gensler’s redesign, sunlight permeates through the entire interior. Private offices are now at the center of 22sqaured’s two floors, employee work stations are situated by windows, small collaborative spaces are prevalent and writable surfaces such as white boards and glass walls, are everywhere. 22squared’s new LEED Gold headquarters reduced space needs from three floors to two, contributing to a collaborative environment that has increased knowledge sharing by 20 percent, according to Gensler’s Work Performance Index. featured product (Calm)space by Haworth Haworth and designer Marie-Virginie Berbet presented (Calm)space, a power nap pod at Orgatex 2012. Employees can easily specify the length of nap, as well as a custom sound and light cycle to gently awake them. By allowing for sleep on the job, it benefits the health and productivity of a company’s employees.

Cizmia Home Injection Experience Collaboration between Smart Design, UCB & OXO After a collaborative effort among Smart Design, UCB (a global biopharmaceutical leader) and OXO (a celebrated consumer products company), people with rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn’s Disease finally have relief. The Cizmia home injection is the first of its kind and was tailored specifically for its intended users. The goal of the product was to keep the design simple and the process quick so patients can quickly get back to enjoying every day life. The three groups approached wellness design holistically, joining function, form, and aesthetics. featured product i-Sit Resting Chair designed by Design Concern A|S The i-Sit resting chair, designed by Design Concern A|S, aims to bridge the gap between mainstream furniture and assistive furniture for seniors. The project team looked at how a more functional and competitive chair could be designed by involving end-users. The resulting design is now being called the new Danish Design Icon. featured resource

525 Golden Gate | San Francisco, CA Designed by architecture firms: KMD Architects and Stevens + Associates Designed by KMD Architects and Stevens + Associates, 525 Golden Gate is a 13-story building that is slated to achieve a LEED Platinum rating from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The building houses new offices for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and other spaces for government agencies.
