Walking into the opulent Montage Beverly Hills
we knew we were in for a treat as we headed to the Kim Vo Salon. Kim Vo is a celebrity stylist and master colorist known for his “blonding” techniques, advancements in hair care, reliance on natural products, and his innovative vision of beauty. Vo partnered with Montage to create a destination salon where you relaxation, decompression and luxury are the norm. It was the perfect setting for DLXVRSN’s “10 Questions” with Kim Vo, master stylist to A-list Hollywood. DLXVRSN: Kim, what do you think it means to be a master colorist? KV: You not only have to have years of experience and continue to educate yourself in your craft, but you also have to really push your limits. To call yourself “master” of anything you’d [be] the best of the best and know that you can compete. DLXVRSN: You have been called the hair, beauty and style expert to the world. How did up you become this beauty guru? KV: That’s a BIG title: I love it! Honestly, you have to go with your heart. I believe there is an unconscious consciousness in our artistic world that we all tap into. What I love doing is really going with my gut, and being inspired or inspiring. DLXVRSN: You aren’t just a master colorist: you’ve built a whole empire that includes salons, product lines, TV shows and a celebrity status. What do you want colorists that aspire to be like you to know? KV: If they are aspiring to be like me, I’d tell them to run! No, really: I think that like every talent it takes so much time to build. I’d tell them to be patient, that a part of the whole journey is feeling like you’re not a part of the journey, but being disconnected. For me to feel like I’m ahead of the trend versus following the trend… doesn’t always feel comfortable; but when I know I got it right…my uncomfortable feeling turns into this feeling that I did it, and I did it right. DLXVRSN: How did you build your brand and business to this international level? KV: Everything I do, from the salon, to the products, to being a global ambassador for Schwarzkopf, has my own DNA [in it]; and my imprint is creating approachable luxury, showing kindness to others, respecting the arts, and always excelling and wanting to grow.

Beauty & Business with
DLXVRSN: How did you become this successful? KV: Honestly, showing up is half the battle, as is being on time and being engaged. Do those three things and I promise you, you’ll have success and…you’ll be the best that you can be. DLXVRSN: People come to you to rebrand their look and to look stunning. How do you make sure each client gets that personal Kim Vo touch? KV: It really is about individual concepts and a thing that I call ‘co-creating.’ I think everyone now, with social media or their computer, is so savvy that they have an idea in their minds [of what they want]. You just have to help them ‘co-create’ it. I’m the MSG in hair, Honey! I give you everything that you naturally have and I bring it out.” DLXVRSN: How do you think people should choose their hair stylist? KV: Choosing your stylist is like choosing a plastic surgeon. You really have to know that you are trusting in their talent, but you also have to have a good feeling about [their] reiterating to you exactly what you have just said. It is part therapy and part co-creating…but you have to have a good feeling when you leave after talking to the person. You can’t be like, ‘I don’t know if the person got what I meant.’ DLXVRSN: Is there any projects you have coming up that you’d like to share? KV: I have a couple of projects that I’m pretty excited about. One is a new blow dry bar concept that we’re going to have here. It has a little color twist—a little part of my DNA—but I’m just excited to bring approachable luxury across the country and that’s the next goal. DLXVRSN: What’s one product you could never live without? KV: Hair spray. I need hair spray, and there’s one that I use called Freeze. (I’m from the 80s. I want to freeze everything.) DLXVRSN: What’s one thing you want people to know about you that they may not know? KV: I am such a chill guy. At home, I love to chill and I love to cook. Would you believe it? I’m actually pretty good at cooking.
Want more? Kim Vo currently has salons at the Montage Hotels in Beverly Hills and Laguna Beach, Calif., and Park City, Utah. He also has a luxury hair care product line for color-treated hair and is the brand ambassador for Schwarzkopf products. –Interview by Lyle Malpit & Written by Mericia González You can learn more about Kim Vo at www.KimVo.com

Who knew 621 horsepower could look so sexy? Whether cruising the Pacific Coast Highway with an open panoramic roof or driving to a club at midnight with its ultra-chic LED interior track lighting, the 2015 Mercedes S65 AMG is the perfect car for a luxe ride.
www.fjimports.com
Not just a pretty face, the S65 sports racetrack performance (0-60 in 4.2 sec) that, when combined with a butter-leather interior, can make even the finest Hermes bag go unnoticed. And with a price tag north of $200k, it’s a rarity on the road…which means you will be, too. Mercedes offers varying models of the S-Class sedan at much lower price points; however, the S65 AMG is the diamond that shines within the fleet. Not only is it a daily driver, the S65 is perfect for riding Miss Daisy style behind a driver of your own (the rear seats recline to provide first-class legroom). There are even massage setting in the seats and a refrigerated compartment between the rear seats to keep your bottle of Champs cool on the ride to dinner. So when you pull up to valet in this beauty, keep your eyes peeled for some paparazzi. It’s not advertised, but you just may feel a red carpet come up to meet your feet the moment your car door opens.

Cameron Lickle brings tennis legend Mats Wilander up close and personal with fans around the world By Tyler Morgan
42 | DLXVRSN Magazine SS14
Gracing the pages of DLXVRSN as a handpicked profilee is no fete. A common thread
among our featured trendsetters, tastemakers and entrepreneurs is that they are accomplished in their chosen field, have lived a life of fascination, or have dedicated themselves to helping others do the same. But when we met Cameron Lickle, his success was deeply different from the typical CEOs and business moguls we’ve covered in that Lickle doesn’t just “run” his business; he “works” it every day. As a gifted young tennis player growing up in Palm Beach, Fla., Lickle knew he would find a path to success through the sport he loved and played so well, even if it was circuitous. A student at the U.S. Naval Academy, he earned a degree in economics and would later tour twice in Iraq where he learned firsthand lessons in sacrifice, placing his life on the line for his country. After graduation, he completed more focused studies at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command and became a nuclear engineer. But even after such heady accomplishments, Lickle’s post-Navy aspirations still leaned toward a return to the tennis court. While at the academy, Lickle was named tennis team captain and was later inducted to the Naval Academy’s Sports Hall of Fame. Those early successes pushed him to take a shot at a pro career; but his life path turned one day on a court in Sun Valley, Idaho, when he met his future business partner and tennis legend Mats Wilander. It was a fortuitous meeting that not only led to Lickle helping Wilander prepare for an upcoming exhibition match in Malaysia, but to the joint venture that connects the two today in their work with WOW (Wilander on Wheels)…an idea created on a cocktail napkin, and one that for the last 2 years has flourished. Lickle says WOW started during a turbulent plane ride with Wilander, when it occurred to him that had the plane gone down he would’ve died a satisfied man knowing he’d gotten to train with and play with Wilander. If he thought that way, thousands of other tennis fans must, too, he thought. It became a vision Lickle was determined to use to transform Wilander’s tennis stardom into a business of making tennis fans’ dreams come true.
In the last 2 years, the WOW brand has toured 100 cities across country, with Wilander putting on tennis clinics that allow uberfans to play with the former seven-time grand slam winner, and former No. 1 player in the world. Lickle runs the business side of WOW and participates in every clinic as WIlander’s partner. International stops have included the French Open and Wimbledon, among others, and notable U.S. stops include the prestigious West Side Tennis Club in New York; Onwentsia Club In Chicago; Berkeley Tennis Club in Berkeley, Calif.; and the Longwood Cricket Club in Boston. “The fans in every city come out with so much energy and excitement,” says Lickle. “I’ve really fallen in love with the game in a way I never have before. We get to touch so many people’s lives, and me and Mats just feed off of everyone’s energy. Every city is so special to us.” Lickle may be the man in Wilander’s shadow, but his unwavering ambition and entrepreneurship have taken Wilander and WOW to new levels of success year after year. Yet all work and no play can make anyone a dull boy, so when he’s not on the road, Lickle thrills on the energy and lights of his home in Las Vegas. “After being on the road for sometimes weeks at a time, I like to just treat my time off as a vacation and Las Vegas is the perfect city for me.” Of course he still keeps up with his game—Lickle is typically at Summerlin’s Darling Tennis Center, working on his own skills or teaching private lessons. But when his morning sessions are over and he’s off the WOW clock, Lickle shifts his attention to a game of another kind: the well-rounded life he’s created for himself in Vegas, both on and off the court.

Fly away with Cirrus Aviation President, Greg Woods! Aviation was always in his blood with a family business that has spanned over 30 years beginning with his father and includes his brother. A true family legacy so to speak. A computer engineer by trade, Greg was always a critical thinker but his passion fueled by hospitality and aviation so he masterfully combined the two. When you first meet Greg, you are mesmerized by his piercing blue eyes and gentle disposition but don’t kid yourself, he means business and never more than a click away from knowing where his jets are 24/7/365. You might even find yourself speaking to the President if calling for a quote. Humble, proud and does whatever it takes to ensure his clients’ expectations are far exceeded. DLXVRSN: What do you love most about the private aviation industry? GW: The complexity, the freedom, and the vast number of interesting people who often become fast and long-lasting friends. (Of course, the stigma of owning a jet never hurts either. It often intrigues people and is a great conversation piece.) DLXVRSN: What is the most outlandish thing you have experienced in private aviation? GW: That really depends on your definition of outlandish. We do all kinds of things for our clients, and they provide all kinds of surprise requests, which keeps life very engaging. For one special Valentine’s Day flight, we turned the inside of the aircraft into an archway of flowers, then added a Faberge egg and presents from Chanel along with some appropriate catering including Cristal, chocolate covered strawberries and exotic chocolates fromVosges. That made an impression. For an L.A. client who was with two other couples on blind dates and wanted the whole group impressed, we flew them to Vegas for some high rolling. [Again], we provided catering, Cristal, etc., not to mention a private photographer to capture candid moments during the flight, arriving in Las Vegas, and various memories. Needless to say, they all got a second date!

Craftsmanship
comes first at Cirrus Aviation as they focus on customer comfort and style needs in the aircraft interior design. The interiors are sophisticated and often spacious. High-performance advantages, innovative technology, and unparalleled comfort define their premier travel accommodations.
DLXVRSN: Why is there such a growing demand for private aviation? GW: TSA lineups have definitely helped. Most seasoned clients are not accustomed to waiting, to lines, or to [being one of] the masses. They expect to fly on demand with absolute discretion, which is something we specialize in. Private aviation has become much more prevalent, especially to world-class destinations because we are in an age of instant gratification. What better way to celebrate, begin your vacation or to kick off a business deal? DLVRSN: As an owner of a fleet of jets and single, how do you manage to remain “unhitched?” GW: I’ve had my fair share of heartbreaks, but my greatest love affair is with growing and operating Cirrus Aviation. Of course, on the horizon, what pilot couldn’t use a great co-pilot? DLXVRSN: Since you are obviously well traveled, what is your favorite place to jet to and from? GW: I am in and out of California frequently but I have to say Vancouver because I am Canadian, so I love to stay close to my roots, friends and family. DLXVRSN: How do you explain the famous celebrity deejays that only fly with Cirrus Aviation? GW: Simple: We cut out the middleman, and give answers and prices on demand. We are the only ones that can accept a request and literally be in the air in 60 minutes or fewer for our repeat clients. We are extremely flexible and always the most competitive in this luxury market. We also boast a VIP loyalty program that no one else does in this field by placing our repeat clients on notification for any empty legs for them or their VIPs. [The service is] complimentary and a thank you for their loyalty. DLXVRSN: Where could we most likely find you when you are not traveling on a private jet? GW: I enjoy trying new restaurants, new cuisines and great sushi joints. I insist on trying things before I recommend them to my clients, which is definitely one of the great perks about running Cirrus. You will find me frequently at The Wynn, Encore and the Cosmopolitan enjoying nightlife with my clients, dining, or just escaping the workweek with good friends. DLXVRSN: When you are dating, how soon can an outing with you result in being whisked away in a private jet? GW: Great question! I do enjoy spontaneity, so all I can say is be prepared for anything. –Interview by Tyra Bell Holland & Photography by Tim Hancock

Fonda Redfox enjoys working closely with Ben Leedom, a nationally recognized Master Star Quilter. Her goal is to inspire a new culture of young Native American fine artists across the country.
we see you leading #luxuryprofessionals
FONDA REDFOX Fonda Redfox is the CEO of Redfox, Inc., a conglomerate of three companies: Eleece, Three Feathers and Redfox & Associates. She finds life to be gratifying by mentoring young people to succeed with their dreams and providing quality leadership in her companies. Her passion is sharing products that change the mainstream standards with new and innovative business. Eleece has the cutting edge in the market and is leading the way with the exclusive serum created for all ages, gender and skin types. Fonda wanted this to be a natural product with no harmful chemicals. The lightly scented mask combats multiple skin problems and also hydrates at the same time. The process is simple, easy and relaxing. Fonda finds her artistic pleasure in 3 Feather Star Quilts, a company that is absorbed with so much young talent and ambition. Look closely and you find that the stunning artwork shows the minds of Native American veteran-owned business. The intricate detail of this company has truly set the cutting edge for a signature series that no one will ever be able to replicate. No one else has ever created the star quilt like this company has done, an entirely new look at tradition. DLXVRSN: What is the most incredible thing you have experience in your career so far? FR: Teamwork! Our team started out small, encountered hard knocks and with motivation and drive, we increasingly built stronger teams. We moved fast and had the determination not to quit. As a small team we met some of the most incredible people that anyone could ever ask for. Our drive and determination brought us from small town Montana to Nevada where we have experienced some of our largest challenges, yet with determination and drive never stops. DLXVRSN: What reaction do you normally get from a satisfied customer or audience? FR: “I love your mask, my face feels amazing!” We have been marketing for close to a year and have received 99 percent satisfaction. The Ben Leedom Signature line of star quilts has received the highest praise. The first reaction to the signature line is, “Those are amazing!” DLXVRSN: What is something that someone has told you that confirmed you were on the right path? FR: Do not let short-term finance greed get the best of you! You are striving for long-term finance greed and never let the short term finance greed overrule your thinking. Do not give up or give in! She was an amazing motivational speaker that gave me the strength and confirmation that I was on the right track. DLXVRSN: We had the pleasure of having you at one of out luxury mixers. How have these events enhanced your lifestyle. FR: I have met the most incredible people that will always be instilled in my life. Everyone at the mixer is striving in their business and is most anxious to share their success or work to help share your success. What is most amazing is being a sponsor for the mixer and from that we have created the most beautiful Eleece selling team! DLXVRSN: To make your life this reality, you had set goals. What were some of the toughest goals you overcame? FR:I always said I would be the best leader ever. Owning three newly built businesses, you have to move fast, have a good attitude and have a team that of self-starters and have a ton of motivation within; especially when I am multitasking between all three companies and keeping in touch with my family in Montana on the ranch. Building the right team takes motivation and communication, but sometimes there are times when your team will fly on their own, if not we move on. I look at Trump as one of my biggest motivators in life and I will never give up! DLXVRSN: What inspires you to keep doing what you love? FR: My family inspires me to do more! Changing my lifestyle and the way I think truly has made a difference in my life. Juggling your career and family is very hard, but having your family support you is one of the biggest endeavors in life that you could ever ask for. DLXVRSN: What kind of day you plan for your biggest client? FR: A wonderful stress free day in the Glacier Mountains of Montana, with no work attached! I love Montana!

With
every “Luxury Mixer” that DLXVRSN hosts, there’s a singular theme behind why we invite who we do: Amid the drudgery that dayto-day life can bring, we believe there is always “more to experience,” and that whatever any of us believes a “fine life lived” looks like can actually become reality when we’re around extraordinary people doing extraordinary things. Every day our team gets a handful of recommendations about people to honor at our events, and the list gets more impressive. It has been a pleasure meeting hundreds of powerful leaders in their communities and within the luxury lifestyle industry: senators, actors, designers, real estate agents, doctors, lawyers, hair stylists, producers, photographers, and many more have become a part of our movement to honor greatness. What are DLXVRSN’s Luxury Mixers all about, and what makes our honorees leaders in finer living? For starters, honorees aren’t always about glitz and glam, but they use their professions to contribute to making this world a place, where people recognize goodness and the 60 | DLXVRSN Magazine SS14
finer things in life. They are people who strive to lead others toward living their best possible life. “When I first saw lightning bolts crack from the

“I see myself traveling the world with my amazing wife Tammy Grabel and bringing magic to people who need it most in their lives. - Seth Grabel
L
adies and Gentlemen... Seth Grabel! He was born with innate entertainment skills, his father was an accomplished magician and his mother was a professional dancer. Seth had his sights on the bright lights of Hollywood. The impressionable young man was hooked on illusion after his fifth birthday party, where his parents hired a magician to entertain. The idea of thrilling audiences with the art of magic has taken Seth on an incredible journey around the world. DLXVRSN: What do you love most about sharing your talents? SETH: I get to make people smile! Everyday people work hard to earn their money. I get to show my guests illusion and give them a childlike feeling. Do you remember the first time you saw a lightning shower? When I first saw lightning bolts crack from the sky it made me feel as if I was part of something bigger. It gave me a feeling of awe and that is what I try to give my audience. I focus on giving my audience a feeling of wonder, awe and excitement. DLXVRSN: What is the most incredible thing you have experienced in your career so far? SETH: Being an illusionist I have had the pleasure to travel the world and experience exotic foods, lands, spices, cultures, plants, and people. It truly never is a dull moment in my life and I feel blessed to be able to have a career in making people smile. One of the most amazing experiences I have ever had was flying from the sky down to the audience in my “wheel” while I was in the Leonardo Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man pose. This was done on America’s Got Talent with very little rehearsal and my adrenalin was flying high. I will never forget the faces of my audience as I lowered towards the ground. DLXVRSN: What is your biggest guilty pleasure? SETH: My biggest pleasure is getting the inside look of how an illusion works and is constructed. As an illusionist and magician I get to create unique illusions that mystify and excite the audience. Developing these secrets brings me into a totally magical world where I learn how the human brain can be mystified. DLXVRSN: What were some of the toughest goals you overcame? SETH: When I started performing I had horrible stage fright. Whenever I got on stage I would feel sick to my stomach. I would often throw up right after I got off stage, sometimes I even ran off stage for a few minutes to throw up into a trash can. I overcame that by having bulldog persistence and never giving up. I think it’s important to do what you dislike in order to grow and succeed. DLXVRSN: What’s one thing the world should know from your life experiences. SETH: One thing that I could say is pick the right partners. I have had a few partners in my life but none compare to my wife Tammy Grabel. We are a power dynamite couple and even though we have big dreams there is nothing too large that we can’t accomplish. Pick the right people in your life and you will soar like an eagle. My mother always told me “reach for stars.” I am reaching until I catch them. DLXVRSN: How would you surprise your biggest client? SETH: I would bring them the stars. Currently I am working on a project that involves teleportation. The unbelievable thing is the experiment is true science combined with magic. I actually teleport (no joke)! DLXVRSN: We had the pleasure of having you at a few of our luxury events! SETH: I always love your luxury events!
