“The past gives us templates for surviving the present and creating better futures”. Retro futurism is a concept of external, desperate optimism. For my final major I wanted to embody my own romanticised almost childlike vision of retro futurism and what it stands for. Providing an antidote for uncertainty and embodying ideas of freedom, liberation and creativity.

‘Skin is not just a mere covering for the body, but a highly sensitive and protective interface between our inner selves and the outer world.’ Derma, explores the concept of skin, its texture and protective functions drawing inspiration from both human skin as a form of armour and the earth’s multi-layered skin including rock, sand and clay.
