My Jamaican heritage was the inspiration for this project. ‘Out of Many One People’ is Jamaica’s national motto, it reflects the diversity of the Jamaican population, past and present. Jamaican heritage is a vibrant fusion of African, European, and Indigenous cultures, which has given rise to a unique fashion aesthetic that celebrates bold colours, intricate patterns, and a fearless sense of style. Growing up in the UK, I’ve seen the contrast between Western fashion and traditional fashion, so my vision was to bring life to Western fashion with colour and patterns in a contemporary, fresh, and expressive way.
