Contamination:

The fashion industry is driving a new era of colonialism, Waste Colonialism. The project explores the impact on third world countries and the environment the industry has had through the process of contamination. The contamination of surplus waste, microplastics and hazardous dyes. Waste created in production and by overconsumption of the West is discarded in landfill and in markets causing many negative environmental and social impacts. The contamination has spread across the world and calls for immediate change within the industry, deconditioned.

Metropolitan Birmingham: Street Style:

My Final Major Project has been inspired by the changing skyline of Birmingham city centre, which has recently been broadcast on an international stage due to it being the host of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The skyline in the city centre is dominated by buildings spanning from the Victorian era to the current ultra-modern architecture. I have used this inspiration to create abstract and linear forms when experimenting with screen printing and fabric manipulation. My final collection reflects modern metropolitan Birmingham with its gender-neutral street style.
