THE MANAGER
THE MANAGER
DARREN MOORE Good evening and welcome to the Keepmoat Stadium. I would like to welcome Keith Hill as well as the supporters, players and staff of Bolton Wanderers who have made the trip across tonight. Bolton have had a tough season against the backdrop of their financial problems at the start of the campaign. We are glad such a famous club survived and I’m sure they will go on to achieve good things again in the future. In Keith they have a manager who knows this division well and can build a team to compete. We were frustrated to come away with just a point from Saturday’s game against Rochdale, but Brian Barry-Muphy has instilled a real work ethic on his side and they made life difficult for us at times. We felt we had the chances to put the result beyond doubt when we were 1-0 up, but we will learn from the game. Every player and member of staff here at Club Doncaster will give their all in every game for the rest of the season, including tonight. Our next game is always our most important one and we approach each one individually, we go through so much to prepare for each match and will continue to do so. We have come a long way this season, but we will strive to keep getting better each and every day. Please keep up your exceptional support, as it is greatly appreciated by everyone. Enjoy the game.

THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE
CHIEF EXECUTIVE
GAVIN BALDWIN Good evening and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium for the second time in four days. I would like to welcome the travelling fans, owners, players and staff who have come over from Lancashire tonight. We were all frustrated to have to settle for a point on Saturday, but Rochdale were well organised and are clearly too good to be dragged into the relegation fight. We still have a bit of work to do to fully integrate the new players into our squad and system, but once the two games this week are out of the way that opens up time on the training pitch to
really work on things to set us up for the run-in to the season as we chase that top-six finish we all want. Tonight is our annual NCS takeover match, where leaders and participant in the NCS courses which are run here by Club Doncaster Foundation. Designed for 16 and 17 year olds, the NCS experience will
give you a clearer idea of what you want from your future NCS runs through academic holidays and has had massive impacts on people who have gone through the courses - find out more by going to clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk. I would like to offer congratulations from everyone here at Club Doncaster to local boxer Terri Harper, who on Saturday night became the WBC super-featherweight champion of the world with a fantastic victory over Eva Wahlstrom who had held the title for the past five years. It was only her 10th professional fight and she is only two years into her career. We are sure she will continue to flourish under the guidance of Stefy Bull, and can go on to become a real star in the sport. Enjoy the game.
Congratulations to local boxer Terri Harper who became WBC super-featherweight champion of the world on Saturday

FEJIRI OKENBAHIRIE After joining Rovers from fellow Sky Bet League One side Shrewsbury Town at the end of January, Fejiri Okenabirhie couldn’t have asked for a better start at his new club. The big No.9 scored just 11 minutes into his second substitute appearance away at Tranmere Rovers, which was made all the sweeter by the fact it was in front of the travelling supporters. Okenabirhie says it was a great moment, and a weight off his shoulders to get off the mark after less than a week in South Yorkshire. “It was a good feeling to score my first goal, it helped the team get the win as well which is always the most important thing,” he says. “I was sitting on the bench thinking that I’d have a good chance of scoring if I got on, we played really well as a team so I was itching to get on. “The manager has given me little spells off the bench so far and that is probably the best way of me getting used to the system in place here.
“It was a moment I wont forget, I knew that my first goal was a big tick in the box as it is for any striker to score early for a new club. “When the ball went into the air I sensed the defender might make a mistake, he let it bounce and I managed to nip in and finish it. “It was great to score in front of the supporters as well, I’ve been welcomed really well so that was me giving something back.” After scoring 16 goals for Shrewsbury last season, Okenabirhie has shown he is capable of hitting the back of the net at Sky Bet League One level. But after a frustrating start to the current campaign, he knew his future lied away from the Montgomery Waters Meadow – and that is when Rovers came calling.

The 23-year-old had to be patient before the move could be sealed, with the January window proving to be difficult for most clubs to do business. “Once Shrewsbury knew that I wanted to come here they left me out so I hadn’t been playing before I signed,” he says. “It might take me a few games to get up to full match fitness but I’m sure with the games we’ve got coming up I’ll be up to 100 per cent very soon. “I heard about the interest towards the end of December and as soon as I heard I wanted to come so I was really happy to finally put pen to paper. “It took a month to get it done, but I was happy to wait to make sure it could happen and now I’m looking forward to what the future holds. “It was strange because I was playing and once I’d made it clear that I wanted to come here I wasn’t involved. “I was just training every day waiting for something to happen which was a bit different for me but it’s just part of football. “Having Adam Henshall here helped me to get an idea on what was happening, he’s been here a couple of months and had nothing but good words to say. We had a really good relationship at Shrewsbury so having a familiar face in my first few days really helped me to settle in.”

KENBAHIRI
Now that he has had a few training sessions with his new team-mates, as well as three brief cameo appearances, Okenabirhie says he knows what is expected of him in the Rovers system. Darren Moore has plenty of options at his disposal after a busy end to January with three other players coming in, and the former Arsenal trainee says he can’t wait for a regular run in the side. “I know what the manager wants from me and it’s a chance to help me build my fitness up as much as I can,” he says “Looking at the squad here and how the manager is getting the best out of them is something I wanted to be a part of. “He’s got them playing a certain way and I feel in that system that I can improve as a player and score a lot of goals. “I put pressure on myself to do well so I don’t really feel it from elsewhere, I expect high standards every day in all that I do. “I know what I’m capable of so the aim for me is to try and
implement that when I play for Doncaster.”
ensure everyone is working hard to be successful as a team.
With Rovers sitting just outside the play-off places ahead of this evening’s game against Bolton Wanderers, the second-half of the season promises to be an exciting one for players and fans alike.
“It’s been a good start for the team and I’ve been impressed with how well they have done watching from the outside,” he adds.
Okenabirhie feels the strength in depth in the squad will keep everyone on their toes, and
“We’ve got a really good squad now with the additions in the last few days of the transfer window, and now everyone is pulling in the same direction for the secondhalf of the campaign. “It’s a long season and we still have a third of the campaign to go, everyone will have to play their part in taking us to where we want to go. “Every player wants to play but there is nobody throwing their toys out of the pram if they aren’t involved, we’re all in it as one. “All the games in this league are tough and you can’t take anyone for granted, but with only a few home games to go we want to try and take maximum points from those. “It will be nice to experience the atmosphere at the Keepmoat as Rovers player, I’ve been there before but I’m looking forward to it being my home ground.”

BOLTON WANDERERS:
FOUR TO WATCH REMI
MATTHEWS Matthews was tried and tested by Bolton before they made his stay permanent at the University of Bolton Stadium as he joined them on an initial loan deal from Norwich City in 2018. Since then he has remained at the Lancashire club, making the move permanent in January 2019 after the deal was initially hindered by Bolton’s transfer embargo. He was one of only a handful of players to remain at the club throughout their relegation and financial troubles. He has been rewarded for his loyalty by remaining first choice goalkeeper under Keith Hill.
JASON
LOWE
ARISTOTE
NSIALA
The centre back was part of Paul Hurst’s Shrewsbury team who astonishingly stormed into the 2017/18 play-offs against all the odds. In the summer of 2018, Hurst left Shrewsbury and joined Championship side Ipswich where Nsiala later followed. Hurst was dismissed after just five months and upon the appointment of his successor Paul Lambert he found game time difficult to come by. Following relegation to League One last summer, Lambert loaned Nsiala out to Bolton. The 27-year-old has also played for his home nation DR Congo in 2012 when he was with Accrington Stanley.
DARYL
MURPHY
Captain Lowe is another player who, like Remi Matthews, stuck with the club through their difficult period.
The veteran striker joined from Nottingham Forest last summer after netting 11 times in 55 games for Forest.
He signed a two-year deal after joining from Birmingham City in 2018, making his debut against West Brom at The Hawthorns – a game Wanderers won 2-1.
Bolton became the 36-yearolds tenth club after previously featuring for the likes of Newcastle United, Sunderland and Celtic.
Lowe plays primarily a defensive midfield position and learnt his traits during his seven-years as a pro at Blackburn Rovers after successfully progressing through all of their age groups in the Academy. He made 173 appearances for the club.
He also represented Republic of Ireland on the international stage for 10-years, which came to an end in 2017. Keith Hill will be hoping Murphy’s experience will be able to rub off on the younger players in Bolton’s current situation.

SHARED 5-A-SIDE DENNIS PEACOCK
The now 66-year-old had two stints at Rovers, accumulating a total of 329 appearances in goal for the club between 1975-1980 and then again from 1982-1986. Sandwiched between his two stints in South Yorkshire he played for Bolton for two seasons, appearing in 16 games.
REECE WABARA
A promising prospect to rise out of Manchester City’s Academy in 2011 had loan spells across a plethora of Football League clubs, but his last at City came at Rovers in the Championship. The following summer he was released and Rovers managed to capture the right-back on a short-term deal. His last club was Bolton in 2017, when he played in one game the season the club earnt promotion to the Championship. He hasn’t played for a club since, focusing his efforts on his fashion business.
16
DAVID WHEATER
Before his breakthrough at his boyhood club Middlesbrough he had to learn his trade out on loan at Rovers in 2006 where he scored one goal in seven games. His move to Bolton came in January 2011 when his seven-year stay at Boro concluded. His first of what would turn out to be 212 games for the club came against Wigan in the FA Cup, a week after joining. Upon Bolton’s relegation last summer he joined League Two club Oldham Athletic.
NEIL REDFEARN
The midfielder started his professional career at Bolton in 1982, despite coming through Nottingham Forest’s Academy. It wasn’t until subsequent moves to Lincoln and Rovers that he started to make a name for himself as a prolific goalscoring midfielder. His path would cross with Rovers again in the future when he was appointed the manager of Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2017. He left after winning the WSL2 title.
JOHN SHERIDAN
While at Sheffield Wednesday in 1996, Sheridan was loaned out to Bolton after finding game time hard to come by after seven years at the club. His move to Lancashire was made permanent later that year when he was one game away from making 200 appearances for the Owls. After his time at Bolton finished in 1998 he joined the Rovers team Darren Moore was in, on the back of the club;s relegation to the National League. After only playing in eight games at Belle Vue, he moved back to League Two with Oldham when the opportunity arose.

PAST RECORD PAST PASTRECORD RECORD
Tonight’s clash is the first meeting in six years between Rovers and Bolton, with Wanderers completing a league double in the 2012/13 season. David Cotterill’s consolation in a 2-1 home defeat was as good as it got for Rovers, with a 3-0 reverse in Lancashire. Bolton may have felt that double was payback for the brace Rovers claimed in 1986/87 in their previous league meetings, with a 3-0 success at Belle Vue followed by a 1-0 win at Burden Park. John Cornforth (2) and Glen Humphries were scorers in South Yorkshire that day, with Neil Redfearn netting in Lancashire against a club he would later go on to represent.

ROVERS MANAGERS
IN THE HOT SEAT:
DONCASTER ROVERS MANAGERS FROM 1920
DAVE PENNEY (2002-2006) Ian Snodin’s successor was another former player, Steve Wignall, a man who had managerial experience at Aldershot, Colchester United and Stevenage Borough. He joined in May 2000 and hopes remained high that he could be the manager to take Rovers back into the Football League. Two and a half seasons further on, and progress had stalled. Wignall’s gambles on previously prolific goalscorers in Carl Alford and Justin Jackson had failed, and in January 2002 Wignall was dismissed as part of a cost-cutting exercise. His deputy, player-coach Dave Penney, was soon appointed to the hot seat. A Yorkshireman, Penney had enjoyed a decent playing career with Derby County, Oxford United and Swansea City before joining Rovers as a player in August 1998. He soon became club captain and then moved onto the coaching side. Rovers enjoyed an improved second half of the 2001-02 season and at one point hinted at a late title push, but in the end had to settle for fourth place in the Football Conference. Until now only the Champions of the Conference had been promoted to the Football League, but from 2002-03 another promotion place would be available via end of season play-offs. This was the incentive Rovers needed, and fired by the goals of Paul Barnes, who scored 26 times, and an excellent defence, Rovers finished third in the table. They beat Chester on penalties in a dramatic two-legged semi-final before overcoming Dagenham & Redbridge via Francis Tierney’s golden goal in the Final played at Stoke to regain their place in the Football League after five seasons. Dave Penney’s Rovers were not finished there. Helped by Penney’s shrewd recruitment of the experienced Leo Fortune-
West and Yeovil Town winger Michael McIndoe, Rovers took the Third Division by storm in 2003-04. They had sealed promotion by Easter Monday and went on to secure the title. Penney’s team enjoyed plaudits from the fans for their vibrant attacking play as well as their miserly defence which conceded only 37 goals. Rovers were back in the third tier, the newly designated League One, for the first time since 1988. 2004-05 was largely a season of consolidation, although an excellent run towards the end of the season almost saw them sneak into a play-off place. In contrast, Rovers struggled at the start of 2005-06 but enthralled supporters with an excellent run in the League Cup. First Manchester City were dispatched on penalties, then Rovers totally outplayed another Premier League side, Aston Villa, to win 3-0. This set up a home quarter-final against Arsenal, and in stoppage time of extra-time Rovers were leading 2-1 until a breakaway goal by the Londoners forced a shoot-out, which Rovers lost. Rovers finished 2005-06 in a respectable 8th place, but with expectations raised, 2006-07 was going to be a big season. Several new signings were made, but Rovers struggled to gel on the field while there were rumours of unrestbehind the scenes. Matters came to a head at the end of August, when Rovers had won only one of five League games. Penney and his assistant Mickey Lewis were dismissed, and the reign of one of Rovers’ most popular managers was over. Dave Penney’s record at Rovers should never be forgotten. He revived a club that seemed to be treading water in 2002, took it to two promotions and on a memorable cup run. Maybe he had taken Rovers as far as he could by 2006, but he deserves to be remembered as one of our greatest managers. John Coyle

Alex Baptiste says it was a relief to be back in action after making his return from an achilles injury last Tuesday. The experienced defender played 45 minutes for Rovers’ Development side against Rotherham United at Cantley Park – his first appearance at any level since August. He said: “It felt good to be back out on the field, I’ve still got a lot of work to do to get that sharpness back but I enjoyed it. “There were a few nerves before the game especially given the time I’ve had out, it was my first game for six months so I had to work on a few things. “The timing and positioning will come with games, I’m looking forward to kicking on now and building myself up.” After speeding up the recovery process and returning much quicker than initially expected, Baptiste is just happy to be back fit after thinking at one point that his career may have been over. He added: “I thought I would have to retire, I know how bad the injury is because I follow a lot of Basketball and I’ve seen it keep players out for a year in that sport. “I had the experience of a long term injury before, it’s a grind and you’re doing the same things every day and those little steps all add up. “Luckily I’ve managed to heal well and with the help of the physio and the manager I’ve got back sooner than expected.”

JUNIOR ROVERS
Hello everyone! Welcome to our evening game against Bolton Wanderers and thank you all for making the journey tonight. Our mascot Katie could not make the Shrewsbury game back in January due to her love of acting. She went to London for an audition! We wish you well Katie and glad you made it tonight. I like to have my photo taken and today I want to share this one and say what a great job Richard and Wayne do looking after our match day mascots.
Enjoy the game, Donny Dog
Everyone at Rovers would like to say congratulations to one of our programme sellers LOUISE HUDSON who will be getting married on Friday - she has worked with Doncaster Rovers since the Belle Vue days selling programmes and now stands outside the Belle Vue Bar on matchdays. All the best to you and your future husband!

DONCASTER BELLES
Sophie Scargill thought the Belles got just what they deserved as they beat Solihull Moors 5-0 in the FAWNL Division One Midlands. The Belles made it two wins from two games at home in 2020 in the league, going 10 points clear of the bottom two after the victory at Oxford Street, and Scargill believes the hard work being put in at training has provided them with the results.
27
“I thought we were brilliant to be honest, we really ground out a result, we were disciplined all over the pitch, I didn’t think it was as pretty as the previous week, we didn’t get the ball down and play as much but the three points are the most important thing,” she said. “It’s good to get another clean sheet on the board as well, and I think that’s a testament to the hard work the management have done with us since they’ve come in, they’re told us what they wanted from us, we’ve done it and we’ve got the reward from that. “I was happy to get an assist myself too, me and Kirsty had to be disciplined in the middle and it was quite a physical battle at times, so to get the opportunity to create some chances was good and luckily one came off.” Sunday’s trip to Sporting Khalsa was postponed due to safety
reasons, with the Football Association advising clubs not to travel as Storm Ciara ravaged the country, meaning the players will have had a fortnight before this weekend’s trip to Leafield. And for manager Andy Butler the competition for a place in his side is strong as they look to build on the past two wins. “They all worked their socks off against Solihull Moors and I really cannot fault anyone, the subs have come on once again and done well, they’re showing that it’s a team game
and they’re all ready to make an impact when they come on,” he said. “It makes my life hard when I’m trying to pick the team and they come on and put in performances like that too, but that’s the way I want it to be, I want there to be good competition for places. “They all have to make sure they carry on performing well in training too, we may have won 5-0 but if they don’t produce in the week, they know there’s someone else who could come in, everyone is eager to play which is great to see.”

A cold Tuesday night under the lights at the Keepmoat Stadium – nowhere else you’d rather be, right? Games have been coming thick and fast these last few weeks, and tonight we are back in action against Bolton Wanderers. Darren Moore’s men are in great form at the moment but cannot underestimate tonight’s visitors Bolton who will still be fighting hard for survival. We are delighted to welcome today’s main match sponsor and official partner, Ellgia. Ellgia specialise in waste management, processing and recycling for commercial, trade and homeowners. Today’s match sponsorship marks the launch of their seen to be green campaign. Since becoming involved with the club more than 12 months ago, Ellgia have provided waste recycling services to Club Doncaster, helping lower our carbon footprint while significantly increasing their presence in the town. The Seen to be Green campaign will see staff, supporters and players get together to help clean up Doncaster, with a series of litter picks throughout the area. Keep a look out around the stadium today for
information on how you can get involved with this great initiative. Also joining us is tonight’s matchball sponsor ESC Global. ESC Global Ltd are a research and manufacturing company specialising in the development of high quality environmentally friendly water treatment products and services for the diverse water treatment industry. Their team of more than 100 qualified chemists, microbiologists and field engineers based throughout the UK and Europe work co-operatively to understand the clients specific requirements and identify areas of concern and customise products and services to best eradicate water related problems. We hope all of our sponsors and guests in the Jibba Jabba restaurant have a fantastic time with us here today, and let’s hope for three more points on the table. To get involved with Club Doncaster on a commercial basis, contact the club on 01302 764665 / commercial@ clubdoncaster.co.uk.

SAFETY Three points is not the only priority today. Making sure everyone goes home safe is the most important result. Over recent months we have been working closely with the police and the EFL to review security at the Keepmoat Stadium. Now we are asking you to do your bit. It is vital that everyone - players, staff and supporters - remains vigilant and reports any concerns to stewards or police. Attacks might be rare, and the chance of you being caught up in one unlikely, but the message is ACT #ActionCountersTerrorism. Rovers safety officer Sam Ramsden said:
"We want everyone to enjoy today’s game at the Keepmoat Stadium but if you see anything that causes you concern, tell a steward or staff member. Please do not worry that you might be wasting our time. "The stewards are here to help keep us all safe so please be patient and cooperate with their instructions. When it comes to security it has to be a team effort and we are all players." Here's a quick reminder of what you can do to help keep yourself and others safe: • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks • Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground
• Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away • If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999 • In an emergency, listen to the public address instructions and follow them • If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile • Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles • Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates To find out more, visit gov.uk/ACT or @TerrorismPolice

Good evening and welcome to the Keepmoat Stadium and a very warm welcome to all the visiting fans from Bolton Wanderers. SLO SEMINAR During December I attended the annual EFL SLO seminar which is held at EFL House, in Preston. It is an opportunity for all the SLOs in the north of the country to get together, discuss our roles and share best practice. The day started with a presentation from the Independent Football Ombudsman (IFO), this was to discuss the process of raising issues and complaints with the IFO. Following on from this we had an update on match day safety and security by the EFL’s security and operations advisor, this is always an interesting discussion as it is around how the
SLO’s work with the safety teams at different clubs. The day finished with a workshop on safeguarding and looking at different reallife scenarios. Safeguarding is something that we take very seriously here at Rovers, if you ever come across any safeguarding issues please get in contact with myself, the stewards or our safeguarding officer. As always it was an enjoyable event and great to discuss many aspects of the role with my fellow SLOs. EFL NEWSLETTER Following the meeting, the latest edition of the SLO newsletter was released by the EFL and included in the newsletter was a great piece on the clubs new first time fans / away fans video guide. Many people on the day of the meeting came to chat with me about the video and all had great things to say about it. As far as I am aware, we are currently the only EFL club who has such a video and
hopefully following the meeting and the release of the newsletter it will encourage a few other clubs to produce a similar video. If you have not yet seen the video, it is available on my social media pages, the club’s first-time fan page on the official website and the club’s YouTube account. I am always looking for people opinions on the video, so if you have any feedback then please get in touch! CONTACT DETAILS As always if you have any questions or feedback then please contact me on the usual SLO social media outlets, @SLO_DRFC on twitter, DRFC SLO on Facebook or you can email me on dean.medcalf@ clubdoncaster.co.uk. I hope you all enjoy today’s game and have a safe journey home. Rovers Till I Die Dean Medcalf Supporter liaison officer

SUPPORTERS CLUB
SUPPORTERS CLUB A big warm welcome to all the supporters for tonight’s game. Especially we would like to welcome to all the Bolton supporters who have made the trip up to the Keepmoat Stadium, I hope they enjoy their day out with us, and like the experience besides the result. I feel sorry for the Trotters fans amid their club’s financial problems earlier in the season we have been there and it is not a nice feeling. We gained a great three points away at Tranmere last Tuesday and it was great to see a couple of new signings in Jacob Ramsey and Ferji Okenabirhie on the score sheet. Again this season we will be running coaches to all home and away games, the sheet with times and prices on are included in the programme but are subject to change. We have tried to keep the prices as low as we can but had to introduce a travel policy for under 16s who have to have a responsible adult travel with them. Fans who are 16-17-years-old need a consent form from their parents or guardians to travel. These can be downloaded from the Supporters Club website, on the bus or at the Supporters Club office based in the Club Doncaster Academy. The next away game is away at Gillingham on Saturday February 15, dep Retford 8.15am Harworth 8.20am, Bawtry/Rossington 8.30am, Punches /Cantley lights 8.35am, Keepmoat Stadium 9am. The Main branch bus Wilfreda's yard 8.15am, Infirmary 8.45am, Keepmoat Stadium 9am. This will be followed by Shrewsbury on Saturday February 22, we will be leaving Retford 9.45am, Harworth 9.50am, Bawtry/Rossington 10am, Punches 10.10am, Keepmoat Stadium 10.30am. The Main Branch coach will be Wilfreda Adwick 9.45am, Infirmary 10.15am, Waterdale 10.20am and the Keepmoat Stadium at 10.30am.We are taking bookings also for the rearranged games midweek to Portsmouth and Bolton. As always we will run the home match bus from Retford, Harworth and Rossington Styrupp and Labour club,
times are 1pm (6pm) 1.20pm (6.20pm) and 1.30pm (6.30pm). Times in brackets are night games, and there is no need to book. For fans’ safety we will be picking up on the inner circle adjacent to Car Park 2 this season, so you can leave your car there. You can join the Supporters Club on the bus and get discount straight away, or join online or at the supporters shop located in the Club Doncaster Academy. The price is £7 adult and £5 concessions. Call Paul on 07961727769 or Len on 01302 817347 for more details and bookings. The North Branch also run coaches to most away games, from the Adwick, Carcroft, A19 corridor area. If you wish to travel with them call 07780316923. They are a great set of lads and lasses, and do a lot of raffles to support local charities. As in previous years the Supporters Club are having weekend trips away, the North Branch will be stopping in Blackpool for the Accrington game and the Retford Branch will also be stopping in Blackpool for the last game of the season at Bloomfield Road. Call Paul on 07961727769 if interested. Both trips will be £150, including two nights' bed, breakfast and evening meal. Not many places are left. The VSC and the Supporters Club are now involved the IAG in conjunction with the South Yorkshire Police, In a supporters-led initiative, to cut down on anti-social behaviour at games, how the policing of matches come about, trying to make it a more pleasurable experience going along to the games. The Rovers show on Trax FM has now moved to a Friday night spot from 6pm til 7pm, with me and Mellony Sheperd talking all things Rovers and local nonleague football, well worth a listen. The Retford Branch Annual Dinner dance will be held on Friday May 8 at the Olde Bell in Barnby Moor Retford tickets £25 including free transport from Doncaster and the surrounding areas. Rovers Till We Die Paul Mayfield
VIKING SUPPORTERS CO-OPERATIVE Football is the national game, and football supporters are the lifeblood of the game. While many privately owned football clubs are well run, ours included, there are numerous examples over the years where this model of ownership has failed the supporters of that club, and has led to a number of clubs becoming either partly or fully owned by those supporters. The Minister Of Sport set up the Expert Working Group with the intention of looking at ways to improve engagement and dialogue between clubs and fans, and therefore to improve transparency and trust. The detailed recommendations from the EWG led to the government instructing the EFL and the Premier League to enter into structured dialogue with those supporters, and especially with the supporters trust at that club. As you may be aware the club hold two Meet The Owners events each year which meet the criteria set down by the EFL. On top of that the club have a Supporters Board which meets on a regular basis during the season to discuss a very broad range of topics. Suffice to say that DRFC have not only met the requirements but have exceeded them in both frequency and content, and that is something we can once again be proud of. Martin O'Hara

FOUNDATION UPDATE Club Doncaster Sports College Student Ben Howe has signed a season-long contract with the Dons having taken full advantage of opportunities provided by the Club Doncaster Sports College. The 19-year-old completed his BTEC Level Three Sport programme in the summer and is currently studying his degree with the college based at the Keepmoat Stadium. Alongside his studies, Howe trained with the college team and Dons Academy where he impressed coach Rhys Lovegrove enough to be invited to train alongside the first team. He was offered a place in the Castleford Academy where he trained with the U19s. Following his time there, he returned to trial with the Dons in the summer featuring in both of their pre-season matches against Sheffield Eagles and Wakefield Trinity. His first pro contract comes as a result of hard work and effort put in by the youngster who has been able to take advantage of the unique opportunities gifted to him by the college. Club Doncaster Sports College Principal Adi Turnpenny said: “We’re all really proud of Ben. He’s an excellent young man and a credit to the college and his family – he deserves his deal. “He’s really shown what is possible if you apply yourself at the college – it can give you truly unique chances to be spotted by Doncaster’s professional teams and Ben has taken every opportunity he has been given. “Ben is still studying with us alongside his training and we believe he has a really bright future.”

Ellgia Recycling has renewed its Official Platinum Partnership and North Stand sponsorship with Club Doncaster and with it launched their Seen to be Green campaign. Since becoming involved with the club more than 12 months ago, Ellgia has provided waste recycling services to Club Doncaster, while significantly increasing their presence in the town. The Seen to be Green campaign will see staff, supporters and players get together to help clean up Doncaster with a series of litter picks throughout the region. Marketing and new business development director at Ellgia David Chamberlain said: “Ellgia are extremely pleased to not only enter our second year as a platinum partner of Club Doncaster, but also excited to launch this fantastic initiative between ourselves and Club Doncaster. “As a company, our Seen to be Green campaign will be rolled out across all of our operating regions. The fact Club Doncaster have asked to be the pilot scheme is testament to the values they hold within the community.” Before the big clean up in Doncaster starts, supporters are encouraged to vote for the area they think deserves some tender loving care via social media or by emailing commercial@clubdoncaster.co.uk. Then the team effort will really start, with supporters welcome to join Club Doncaster and Ellgia
representatives to make the town sparkle. Those who do lend a hand will be entered into a competition to win Rovers hospitality courtesy of Ellgia. Jon Warburton, head of commercial at Club Doncaster, said: “Having the support of Ellgia for a further year means a great deal to us all at Club Doncaster. “We are extremely keen on forming relationships with companies who see the true value of partnership working and Ellgia are a shining example of that. “As much as the high profile nature of the North Stand sponsorship is important, the quirky element of the Seen to be Green campaign will allow us to engage with supporters and really introduce them as a company to people in the town.” Ellgia are one of the leading waste management, recycling and skip hire businesses across Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and East Anglia, and are continually looking to improve the environment through new initiatives like the seen to be green campaign. For more information on the fantastic work Ellgia do in our town visit www.ellgia.co.uk To nominate your area for a clean up, or volunteer to help, contact commercial@clubdoncaster.co.uk or see @drfc_official on Twitter.
