FOUNDATION UPDATE Clarborough Primary School student Freddie won a signed shirt as winner of a Foundation literacy competition. 42

The challenge was to write “a day in the life of their favourite footballer” and Freddie’s poem - written from the point of view of England and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane – stood out among the rest of the entries and earned him top prize. Foundation sport development office Kelly Jackson-Powell said: “It was great to see so many young people engaging in this project and the competition entries we received were of a very good standard making the task of judging very difficult. All the children did an excellent job but Freddie’s piece really stood out through the theme of resilience and the ability to rhyme. “The Foundation’s links to both Rovers and Doncaster RLFC mean that we can provide a unique opportunity to school children who can enjoy using their literacy skills in practical sporting environments.”
