BRIEF The projec t is to create an opinion website which expresses a strong personal view that might be controversial. The website has to be 60% tex t, and 90% of the tex t has to be live html. I chose the topic “ the fear of the over whelming all-the-time c yber life among our generation� and wrote all the contents. Basically, this site expresses my fear of c yber life due to the fragmentation it caused in my life.

OBJECTIVE Express my personal opinion through a website.

DESIGN A s the website mainly talks about the fragmentation and uneasy feelings caused by c yber life, I used glitch images and gifs to visually illustrate the topic. Since the main target audience is the younger generation around 20, I wanted to use vibrant colors to make it eye-catching.

BRIEF Create and develop a film festival for a well-known director of my choice. Find a thread that goes through all the featured films of the director, and design a set of promotional materials in an integrated visual system to celebrate the festival.

OBJECTIVE Develop a unique visual system for a film festival

DESIGN Pedro Almodovar is a well-known Spanish film director whose films always involve struggling feminine souls who always take power back at the end. I chose to photograph female characters in vivid colors and edited the photographs with fragmented edges to show the struggling feelings. Also I hand drew flowers as the graphic elements in the visual system to show women taking power to overcome their struggles.

BRIEF The projec t is to selec t a topic related to a health or environmental problem we are experiencing. I selec ted “Farmers’ Market Guide” as the topic for this projec t and explored possible oppor tunities for an interac tive campaign.

OBJECTIVE Encouraging young people to do more grocery shopping at local farmers’ markets, for enormous health, economic, and social benefits.

DESIGN A series of posters with compelling images of fresh food from the farmers’ markets with playful illustrations are designed and displayed on bus shelters and street billboards to attract the audience’s attention. Also, an app and website are designed for the audience to get more info, including market location, schedules, product coupons, recipes, etc. Tote bags are designed for visitors as rewards.

BRIEF In this project we were asked to pick an architecture related topic to design a series of posters. My selected topic is ‘sociology of architecture’, the sociological study of the built environment and the role and occupation of architects in modern societies. For example: how a specific architecture ‘expresses’ the structure and principles of a given society. The perspective of architecture as artifact is the question of ‘interactions’ between architecture and subject: how a very specific architecture suggests certain ways, movements, perceptions.

OBJECTIVE Design a series of architec tural t ypography posters to promote a hypothetical architec ture conference focusing on the selec ted topic.

DESIGN I selected ‘bind’, ‘dual’ and ‘adapt’ to discuss the social aspects of architecture. ‘Bind’ reflects the role of architecture in organizing the flow of communications. ‘Dual’ expresses the structure of a given society. ‘Adapt’ discusses the question of interaction between architecture and a given society.

BRIEF For this projec t, we were given the existing San Francisco Climate Ac tion Strateg y Book and asked to redesign it. Climate change is an impor tant issue for ever yone to pay at tention to and take ac tion on it. The goal of the redesign is to create a book that catches people’s at tention, encourages them to learn about fac ts of climate change and what they can do about it.

OBJECTIVE Redesign the existing San Francisco Climate Ac tion Strateg y Repor t.

DESIGN A s the repor t mainly focuses on how climate change af fec ts the construc tion and development of the cit y of San Francisco, I designed the spreads in a construc tion st yle with blocks of geometric shapes mixing with photographs of SF. I picked the yellow of the traf f ic light as the main and only color, which indicates the dilemma we are facing bet ween climate change and economic grow th. Keeping the color palet te limited to yellow, white and black makes the cost of mass produc tion of the book lower.
