Search Warrant & CIRA COVID-19 left 3 million Canadians unemployed and has a disproportionally negative impact on small business. Nearly 181,000 small businesses are contemplating closing and over 58,000 are gone. As stewards of the Canadian internet, the non-profit Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) manages .CA domains on behalf of all Canadians. CIRA knows Canadians prefer to do business with other Canadians when possible and that many organizations in Canada still don’t have a web presence. Search Warrant, a boutique search agency, has worked with CIRA for years to translate consumer interest into new .CA domain registrations. Through SEO and Search advertising, CIRA and Search Warrant educate Canadians on .CA benefits, help them find available .CA options, and introduce them to registrars to complete their new .CA registrations. A Canadian Search Award for CIRA would recognize how, in a pandemic year like no other, when Main Street needed more help than ever to get online and survive lock downs, CIRA and Search Warrant rose to the occasion. CIRA managed to meet and beat its previous paid and organic search performance records to achieve its best ever year for .CA domain registrations.

Bruce Auto Group Bruce Auto Group operates seven auto dealerships in Nova Scotia. An internal agency handles marketing to deliver high impact lead generation and sales. Digital channels became more critical this past year as the pandemic forced major shifts in consumer behaviours and buying patterns. Many people elected to not visit dealerships and stayed at home, shopping online before committing to purchase. The traditional in-store sales & follow up model had to be overhauled quickly. The challenge for marketing: separating real buyers from window shoppers - digitally. Adding to the challenge, inventory levels dropped, and the agency was short staffed due to COVID. The agency team radically expanded its use of data and paid search during the pandemic to drive leads and sales through virtual test drives. To make this possible, it was necessary to automate the creation of search ads based on inventory dynamically – creating just-in-time ads when units arrived and were available for sale, using automation. We feel we leveraged Optmyzr’s custom automation to effectively market to socially-distant - but engaged - virtual customers. The result, we led market share in our markets, and saw a 2-fold or more reduction in CPA while increasing leads and sales during the pandemic.

It’s a building with a distinct presence, yet one that is seamlessly integrated into the neighbourhood of Ossington and Dundas. It also has the unique draw of being the first condo to launch in the neighbourhood in a decade. As a full-service agency, Community took the digital marketing function into another level and created the dedicated in-house Digital department. After testing out various methodologies & approaches, we have developed the winning formula that allows us to differentiate ourselves from the competition. Our team has stayed motivated and hungry for success while obsessively processing daily keyboard optimization and applying numerous simultaneous A/B tests throughout the campaign period. As one of Art & Science’ longest standing partnerships, we’ve been working with VetStrategy since 2014 when they owned just 12 clinics. Today they own and operate over 230 clinics across Canada and their success is due in no small part to our local marketing efforts. Art & Science manages all local marketing efforts for 81 clinics in VetStrategy’s portfolio The first half of this 2021 fiscal year’s performance has seen tremendous growth, even compared to the previous growth seen in 2020. While part of that growth is a reflection of the times we’re in, the Art & Science team’s timely initiatives helped maximize the capture of those new pet owners. The demand was there: Art & Science honed in on the opportunity to ensure clinics would show up at the most opportune time. Our strategies have paid of and we’re in the midst of the highest year-over-year revenue and new client acquisition growth since our relationship began.

JUDGES’ COMMENTS The judges really enjoyed the humbleness displayed in this entry. There was great honesty expressed throughout the campaign and the judges liked the use of previous campaigns to inform the most recent. The extensive performance analysis was very well explained, and the judges thought the creative optimization strategy using a budget script to bid up/down on ads for clinics that were exceeding performance was brilliant. Everything about this campaign was well thought through and fantastic results were achieved. Congratulations!

Community Agency & Hanson Development Group Hanson Development Group had Master-planned a community project based in Midland, Ontario: Seasons on the Little Lake. The end goal was selling out the 1st phase of homes in 1 year (total 165 homes). Previously, they worked with another agency and spent around 15k/month for digital media. Looking to work with another agency, Hanson Development Group met with Community. The biggest challenge was that they had maximum budget of 3k/month for digital media. After a comprehensive research, we built a winning strategy which included different types of persona targeting and smart structuring on search campaigns. In just 8 months, the 1st phase was sold out. Four months ahead of schedule, the client was very pleased. Being rewarded by an authority in digital marketing has always been a strong motivator for the Digital team. Our team has remained motivated and hungry for success. Obsessively processing daily keyboard optimization and applying numerous simultaneous A/B tests with the knowledge that our effort will be rewarded one day. MOST INNOVATIVE CAMPAIGN

Sky Alphabet & Gordon Neal Search is crucial for making money from stocks. Google search is important. But search on social is like air: it is necessary to survive. Millennials are now the largest investor cohort. Many are heavy users of social media. This campaign tried to capitalize on investor search behaviour on Twitter, which is a dominant platform for investors. It also tried to engage automated stock-trading algorithms. We underestimated how engaged the algorithms would be.

JUDGES’ COMMENTS The judges described this as a very innovative and creative campaign, that was well put together and well articulated. It integrated Twitter to drive traffic and share increases in a unique (and challenging!) industry. Excellent graphs and explanation of performance were included, and a thorough analysis was provided for key metrics. The risk/reward on this campaign was high but they ended up doing the best job possible and the reward was a soaring stock price. A huge well done to these worthy winners!

Community Agency & Caesarstone US After the successful paid media partnership for Caesarstone Canada, we started working for Caesarstone United States paid media strategy and execution as well. Caesarstone United States could not reach the level of website traffic they desired to build their customer portfolio in United States market. Community developed a conversion focused PPC strategy that included: search, display and retargeting to improve top funnel awareness and lower funnel conversion. Leveraging demographic data and layering in second and thirdparty audience affinity data, we were able to build consumer personas, and improve targeting potential in-market customers based on their behaviour and interests. Being recognized by an authoritative industry figure would provide additional confidence in Community to prospective clients. Additionally, we believe our success would contribute to the community and inspire others in the Digital marketing ecosystem.

All the KPI’s were going in the right direction, and they have clearly put a lot of work into understanding their target audience and have a well thought out targeting strategy, as well as employing a full funnel approach across channels / platforms where their audience is already spending time online. AntiSocial & Urban Fare We are incredibly proud to launch the campaign “No Reservations” with Chef Life Shared for Urban Fare brand positioning. As one of the leading grocers in Western Canada, it was paramount to launch a digital campaign with content and messaging to help support and champion Canadians’ dining at home safely with their loved ones and innovatively during COVID. AntiSocial is a Digital Marketing agency with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and New York City. We focus on crafting creative strategies for our client’s digital channels that focus on social platforms while driving a tangible business objective. Like our rallying cry, “Born from Social. Built for Impact.” Winning an award for this campaign would add a cherry on top of a great campaign that we could celebrate virtually as a team.

JUDGES’ COMMENTS This entry really gave the judges the ‘wow’ factor! It was great to see the use of different social media formats. The winner had clear KPIs and targets, creative assets and wordings, including newsjacking measures. Only two years ago, the team was composed of two people, but now five experts work in the digital marketing team. Through complete strategies including SEO, social media management and content creation, paid media ads and paid search campaigns, the team has been able to achieve and exceed the clients’ goals and objectives. Passionate and focused on the client’s needs, it would be a great achievement for this team to receive this award, as a reward for its hard work. First, we want to make sure our users never miss an issue or opportunity again in their Google Ads campaigns. We want to do this by going beyond regular analysis and optimization. Not just showing you what you could do, but revealing what you should do, and in what order. We believe this is a more useful and more ambitious approach to creating software. Second, we want to make it as easy and fast as possible for our users to improve their accounts.
