EXHIBITION HALL DESIGN
CONCEPT The six things you meet on the journey are to tell the memories of travel which result in conducting self-talk and emotional communication, so that visitors who come to this space can actually experience the elements of travel, and then have a desire to start a trip.
With an uneasy but expected heart, the landscape that appears next to the ramp symbolizes the incentives that led to the departure for going on a trip.
When you embark on the central platform of space, it means that your own journey really begins. This platform that can overlook all the space is the time to make a choice, and travellers can freely choose the way of traffic flow.

In the square area, when people walk on the ground, there will be another footprint displayed and followed by the person's feet because the ground is a display panel that will sense the position of the person. People usually do not conscious about their pocket being picked. And the footprints will follow everyone behind.

The hanging metal pillars create a dazzling visual effect due to the different lengths.
During a crowded situation, people will need to wait for the other to jump to the next one, which will lead to interaction between two people.

Statement of Purpose
This statement supports my application to join your postgraduate interior design programme in autumn 2019. I am pleased to be able to outline my skills, background and plans for the future to assist you in assessing my application. I have a great interest in interior, exhibition and lighting design. I will graduate from the Department of Interior Design at Chung Yuan Christian University in June 2019. Over the three years that I have spent at university I have acquired a lot of knowledge from conceptual design training to woodworking. For interior design, my major, I have learned design operations from completing two to three design projects every semester. I mastered the basic elements of display design on a master’s level course Exhibition Design. It is taught by an expert in this area in Taiwan who used to be a designer at the National Museum of History. After analysing display techniques for museums from case studies, I was involved in the planning of our campus history museum. We then analysed the characteristics of various departments and developed unique display methods for them. I received a high grade and was inspired to learn more about exhibition design. Furthermore, during Interior Design I created an airport cultural exhibition. Knowing the importance of culture to design, I carried out research into the Lantern Festival - a special time for the Chinese. I put traditional figures in the festival into modern space and transform them into elements, so that visitors can absorb the atmosphere at the exhibition. This gave me more insight into combining culture and space and another high score. In my third year, I created a hotel branding design which enhanced my capabilities in integration from detail to entire space. I analysed branded products like tea and soap which evolve into elements composed of space. Utilising the way the texture of soap changes as time goes by, I put creativity into practice and created a relaxing spa hotel. I gave a presentation in front of the whole class which was rated fourth out of fifty people. My active participation in extracurricular activities honed my communication, teamwork and leadership skills. I was team instructor for the College of Design Joint Orientation Camp in my second year at university. My partner and I made an eighty-centimetre-tall team flag - a 3D sculpture of Benjamin Clawhauser from the film ‘Zootopia’ as a symbol of our team spirit. During the camp, I led discussions among new students and inspired our team to compete against others. I continued to enhance my skills and experiences in interior design on internships with Moreart and Ten Tan Design during summer vacations. I worked as an interior designer and my main job was to create a three-dimensional model and design proposals for cases. I also measured a lot of dimensions, transformed them into records on paper and participated in discussions with clients. I witnessed the importance of designers co-operating with clients and utilising various ideas from discussions. Designers still need the specialisms and ability to help them design their dream locations.
I designed a t-shirt for a church for their sixtieth anniversary in July 2018. I began my design concept from their main idea about the church and overlapped lines and colours to represent the relationship between church and family. One Sunday, there were more than a hundred of people wearing the t-shirt I designed. I felt a sense of satisfaction to see my design being put into practice. My strongest trait is my attention to detail. I often have insight into small details in life that people around me have not noticed. Furthermore, I am good at image analysis and flexible thinking. I have great interests in possibility beyond known things which enhances my exploration and imagination. For these reasons, interior design has become an area I excel in and a profession that I would like to study further. I have had great enthusiasm for studying abroad since seeing the totally different methods of teaching from teachers returning from overseas. In addition, to enhance my vision and design experience, I would like to study in a country with a historic and artistic cultural background. The United Kingdom is my priority for these reasons. In the near future, I wish to become a professional designer with a wide global vision always oriented towards a growth in creativity. In order to solve many different problems for my future clients, I must gain more ideas and pursue an advanced vision. My long term objectives and hopes are to deliver features about Taiwanese culture through design. In order to let the whole world to discover the beauty of my homeland, I want to make meaningful spaces to illustrate it. I feel that I am ready to face the challenge of postgraduate studies in interior design and it will be an honour to take up a place on your course.
