We are proud of the progress West Pines has made over the last few years and we can’t wait to see just how bright the future of our course will be. Along with West Pines Golf Club, we have so many exciting events going on in our city this summer! Each month I would like to introduce you to a City employee. Since it is June and we are celebrating Father’s Day, I would like to highlight one of the fathers that we have working at the City of Douglasville, Aaron Szarowicz. Aaron came to the City of Douglasville through the International City/ County Management Association’s Local Government Management Fellowship program. He served the City of Douglasville as the Graduate Fellow until July 2018 when he accepted the role of Community Outreach Coordinator. After that, he moved into his current position—Economic Development Manager—in October 2020 and has loved serving the residents and business community. Recently, Aaron was named as one of the Top 40 under 40 for West GA Living! We are so proud of him and his accomplishments! A native of Michigan, Aaron holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Hope College, where he also played football. In addition, Aaron earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University where he concentrated in Local Government Management and earned multiple academic awards. Aaron and his wife, Margaret, welcomed a baby girl, Katherine Jane Szarowicz, in February of 2021. Margaret, Aaron, and Katie Jane love going on walks around their neighborhood and catching naps whenever they can. They have enjoyed watching Katie Jane grow and discover new things every day. When she is old enough and the pandemic subsides, they look forward to watching the Braves play at Truist Park and exploring all that Atlanta has to offer. Thank you for everything you do for the City of Douglasville Aaron!
