Community Engagement We hope this newsletter finds you well & in good spirits. October has been an exciting month for Doug Tarry Homes, filled with special events & meaningful initiatives. Let’s dive right into our latest updates: LSTAR Charity Golf Tour: On October 5th, we proudly served as the title sponsor at the LSTAR Charity Golf Tour held at the esteemed St. Thomas Golf and Country Club. The event was not just about golf but about giving back, with proceeds supporting the Mission Services of London and the Grace Café. We had a fantastic time running both the Putting Contest and the Marshmallow Drive while representing Doug Tarry Homes to London and area real estate agents. Celebrating Energy Star Day: On October 11th, we celebrated the 8th Annual Energy Star Day. This year was particularly special for us as we were honored with the Energy Star builder of the Year award in the MidSize category on September 26th. We’re committed to making practical changes in how we use energy, both in our homes and our daily lives. It’s not just about saving money; it’s about helping the planet and supporting our community. Supporting St. Thomas Elgin Crimestoppers Event: On October 13th, we proudly sponsored the St. Thomas Elgin Crimestoppers Event, featuring the incredibly talented Cliff Erickson at the Elgin Theatre Guild. The event was all about coming together to support the Crimestoppers Tips program, which plays a crucial role in supporting our local police efforts, relying on the public’s financial support. Open House Blitz with STEHBA: On October 14th and 15th, we were excited to host an “Open House Blitz” in collaboration with our local home builder’s association, STEHBA. The turnout was fantastic, and it was a great opportunity to showcase our model homes and demonstrate our commitment to energy efficiency. Fundraising for the YOU: We’re also thrilled to share that our New Home Design Manager Mike Fishback, is participating in a special initiative. Mike is fundraising for Fight to End, a charity supporting the YOU in London. The YOU is a vital resource for young people facing housing and life challenges, offering a wide range of services from housing support to education and career coaching. Mike will be participating in a sanctioned boxing match to raise funds for this excellent cause and to represent Doug Tarry Homes. They hosted a BBQ Fundraiser on September 15th at the Southdale Office, with all proceeds going to support their fundraising efforts as well as multiple other fundraising initiatives that have taken place. Meet and Greet with New Home Sales Consultants: Rounding out the month, we hosted an open house meet and greet to introduce our community to our two newest New Home Sales Consultants, Jade Yenlin and Jackie DaSilva. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get to know them and learn more about how they’ll be contributing to our team. Miller’s Pond I bet you are all wondering what is going on with the lovely large fencing project that is going up, just off Benjamin Parkway!! It is likely not as exciting as you might have imagined – we are moving our storage area to that space. It gets moved around from time to time, so it wouldn’t be permanent of course. Silverleaf Path is a buzz with foundations, framers and then all the busy bees working away inside the homes that are not as visible. There are still 2 semi-detached homes that you could move into before Christmas!! The Easton and the Sutherland.

Speaking of being in for Christmas, The Palmer at 8 Feathers Crossing is dreaming of having someone to celebrate the season with. Watch for a weekend Open House soon! Keep an eye out for all the Holiday Bazaars and fun events that are sure to be happening around our city this month. Recipe of the Month Favourite Baked Spaghetti Ingredients 1 package (16 ounces) spaghetti 1 pound ground beef 1 medium onion, chopped 1 jar (24 ounces) pasta sauce 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt 2 large eggs 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese 5 tablespoons butter, melted 2 cups 4% cottage cheese 4 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese Chopped fresh basil, optional Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350°. Cook spaghetti according to package directions for al dente. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat for 6-8 minutes or pasta sauce and seasoned salt; set aside. 2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, Parmesan cheese and butter. Drain spaghetti; add to the egg mixture and toss to coat. 3. Place half the mixture in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Top with half of the cottage cheese, meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers. Place baking dish on a rimmed baking sheet. 4. Cover and bake for 40 minutes. Uncover and bake for 20-25 minutes longer or until heated through. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. If desired, sprinkle with basil.
