JANUARY M O N T H LY N E W S L E T T E R

Happy New Year! We hope you had a safe and happy holiday, and that your new year started off right. It may be a time for hibernating, but not at Doug Tarry Homes! Read on to find out what’s happening in our subdivisions, what we’ve been doing in the community, and more.

Overall the home purchase went exceptionally well. We are pleased with the home and do not have any complaints. If there were any small things that we were unhappy with, the staff at Doug Tarry (both office and trades-folk) were always polite, quick at getting back to us, and very knowledgeable. A Happy Homeowner

Community Engagement Happy New Year! I hope December was a time you got to spend with family and friends and reflect on the year past and the year to come. 2021 brought many opportunities to our Community Engagement initiatives. Some of those included the Gingerbread House build with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, The Rotary Discovery Tour, Memorial Donations to those who were dear to us, Keep a Roof Over Your Head campaign by the YWCA, our Health and Wellness Initiative, and so many more. I was able to meet and help so many people in and around our wonderful community. Looking forward to what 2022 will bring! Most of all, BE KIND! - Suzie

Congratulations, Scott! O

n behalf of Doug.Tarry Limited, our Shareholders and Board of Directors, we would like to announce a significant change to our company as we go forward in the future.

W

e would like to welcome Mr. Scott Switzer to an elevated role within our DTL team. After joining us earlier in February of 2021 as our Director of Finance, Mr. Switzer’s duties have evolved within DTL to include a leadership role within THE Carbon Reduction Company. This portfolio will include Abode Home Comfort, our HVAC and AeroBarrier subsidiaries, LC Manufacturing, our panelization joint venture, and our purchasing group, Abode Purchasing Solutions. At this time, Mr. Switzer has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Doug. Tarry Limited and accepted a seat on our Board of Directors.

A

lthough fairly new to the building sector Scott brings extensive financial and leadership experience in the manufacturing environment. Before joining the Doug Tarry Limited team, Scott has held several positions in the Finance area with prominent organizations in the London and area community. With an eye to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, Scott will be a valuable addition in his oversight of these new DTL ventures.

T

hroughout his career, Scott has lent his time and talents volunteering. He currently sits as the Board President for Kids Country Club, a respite home for medically fragile children. He also is the Vice-Chair for the Board at St. Leonard’s Community Services, an organization with programs for adults and youth who are or could be in conflict with the law. As his industry knowledge grows Scott can’t wait to lend his voice to some of the associations within the Home Builders envelope. Regards, Doug Tarry President, Doug.Tarry Limited DOUG TARRY HOMES Newsletter - January 2022

SLOW COOKER BEEF STEW R E C I P E Ingredients 3 pounds cubed beef stew meat ¼ cup all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste 3 tablespoons olive oil 1 cup baby or sliced carrots 4 large potatoes, cubed 1 tablespoon dried parsley 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 2 cups boiling water 1 (1 oz) package dry onion soup mix 3 tablespoons butter 3 onions, sliced ¼ cup red wine ¼ cup warm water 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Step 1 Place meat in a large plastic bag. Combine 1/4 cup flour with 1/2 teaspoon salt; pour into the bag with the meat, and shake to coat. Step 2 Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add stew meat, and cook until evenly browned on the outside. Transfer to a slow cooker along with the carrots, potatoes, parsley, and pepper. In a small bowl, stir together 2 cups of boiling water and dry soup mix; pour into the slow cooker.

Step 3 In the same skillet, melt butter and saute onions until softened; remove to the slow cooker. Pour red wine into the skillet, and stir to loosen browned bits of food on the bottom. Remove from heat, and pour into the slow cooker. Step 4 Cover, and cook on High for 30 minutes. Reduce heat to Low, and cook for 6 hours, or until meat is fork tender. In a small bowl or cup, mix together 2 tablespoons flour with 1/4 cup warm water. Stir into stew, and cook uncovered for 15 minutes, or until thickened.
