The FIRST half sovereign date issued by the Perth Mint, the 1900P Half Sovereign was the LAST half sovereign date struck in Australia during the reign of Queen Victoria.
Sought after for its rich mix of history, beauty and purity, the final date of the 1893-1900 Veiled Head Half Sovereign Series is also desirable for its scarcity.
With the mintage a mere 119,376, and so many melted for the gold or simply lost, this key date is rare in better grade. Graced with Pistrucci’s neo-classical masterwork, St George & the Dragon, united with the portrait of Queen Victoria, the single 1900P in stock has been graded by independent 3rd party verifiers Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) at AU58.
The first half sovereign date struck at the Perth Mint during the brief reign of King Edward VII, the 1904P Half Sovereign had an astonishingly small mintage of just 60,030 coins.
