Campus Martius Park & Cadillac Square The first-ever winner of the prestigious, international Urban Land Institute Urban Open Space Award, Campus Martius Park delivers on its promise to be Detroit’s Gathering Place in the immediate downtown community and for the entire city and region. Beacon Park Detroit’s newest public park opened in July 2017, transforming a barren lot into a dynamic space that has already proven to be catalytic. Beacon Park embodies light, energy and motion to create a distinctive gathering place and unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. The circular, open lawn is the largest of any downtown Detroit park and gives visitors room to run, play, relax and recharge. With year-round programming, interactive light installations and the contemporary restaurant LUMEN with a rooftop garden and dining space for panoramic views of the park and city skyline – this park is beaming with eye-catching, Instagram-worthy moments to share with friends and family.

Grand Circus Park Grand Circus Park anchors both a burgeoning residential district and the Downtown’s entertainment district. Many of the city’s favorite attractions and venues surround the park, including Comerica Park, The Fox Theatre, Detroit Opera House, Ford Field, Little Caesars Arena and The Fillmore. Recently upgraded, the park has new seating and guest areas, gardens, a beloved dog park for Downtown residents and two beautiful historic fountains. Grand Circus Park is also home to free special events of live theater, opera, music, literary readings, street performances, and others.

Spirit of Detroit Plaza Spirit of Detroit Plaza, a newly designed downtown public space on Woodward at Jefferson, opened in June 2017 and created a pedestrian connection from Campus Martius Park to the Riverfront. Weekday activities include a rotating schedule of lunchtime food trucks and live performances showcasing community and cultural groups from various city neighborhoods. Intended to foster community connections and civic exchange, Spirit of Detroit Plaza has provided Detroiters and visitors the opportunity to see the city and the iconic statue from a car-free and open vantage point like never before.

Woodward Esplanade Formerly a simple median, the new Woodward Esplanade allows pedestrians to take in the skyline along a playful path that extends from the south end of Campus Martius Park to Larned Street. The area connects Downtown Detroit to The Spirit of Detroit Plaza and the Riverfront. It is also where the QLINE turns around at the Congress Street Station.

Capitol Park Capitol Park is the downtown's most densely populated residential neighborhood, surrounded by cafes and unique retail offerings, enhanced with beautiful greenery and comfortable seating. Capitol Park will be redeveloped with construction planned to begin in fall of 2018. The intimate Capitol Park will become a premiere downtown space in a historically significant and iconic district.
