THIS ISSUE

Welcome! Welcome to the first issue of SIGNS ~ A Dream Codes Magazine. We are so excited to bring you a magazine with the potential to change and improve lives. The Dream Codes team consists of seven individuals with a passion for enlightening souls through presenting possible spiritual truths. Because our team members are located throughout the world, it allows us to not only cover more territory, but also come from several different perspectives. The material we present to you comes from our studies and research into spiritual and paranormal things. In these crazy days that we are living, we find that people are starting to question their beliefs and becoming more open-minded to other spiritual concepts and ideas. So our creators at Dream Central thought it would be a good idea to bring to you a magazine that presents all sorts of spiritual possibilities and truths. Our mission is to simply present material that will cause you to ponder, meditate, and think outside the box. So what will you be seeing in this and in the following issues? Well, anything from how to remember and interpret dreams, to how to conduct a paranormal investigation. We will cover the truths about Astrology in the bible as well as a study on the chakra centers. We will be covering pretty much any and all things spiritual, including religious beliefs. So as you read through our new SIGNS magazine, try to keep an open mind and remember that some of the material presented may not reflect the belief of our whole team. Yet, we as a group work together to make sure we don’t offend our readers with our opinions or ideas. It’s also important to remember that, although some of the material presented may be scientifically proven, other times it’s simply opinions or ideas of our team or outside sources. We welcome ideas from our readers and even encourage input for our magazine. WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT. We hope the material and over-all quality of our magazine will bring much knowledge and insight to our readers. So thank you for your support and interest. I hope this is the beginning of a great relationship between you and our Dream Codes staff, and will also be a spiritual awakening for our friends around the world. Leon Titus

ince the beginning of time, dreams have been an unexplained, almost supernatural mystery to man. Even with all the research being done, and the many books being written about dreams, they still remain a mystery to most. When people start talking about dreams and what they might mean, the conversation can be right up there with UFOs, Bigfoot and ghosts. They are all mysterious subjects that can be hard to comprehend. But there is one major difference when it comes to discussing dreams. Most people have never seen a UFO, a Bigfoot, or a ghost, yet everyone has had a dream. And though a lot of people have claimed to have taken a picture of the other three, you will not find a photo of a dream. Dreams are a personal thing, and you are the only one that has seen yours. I have had several dreams warning me about a person or a situation, and dreams about my physical condition and the mental and physical conditions of others. I have also taken a peak into the future in several of my dreams. Dreams are a real experience and when acknowledged, can help guide us in everyday decision making. Dreams are a spiritual experience, and just like sleep, were planned in the beginning. There is a very good reason for dreaming and it all has to do with our walk with God, Christ and the spiritual forces we would encounter. The Bible tells us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, that it is the spiritual forces we have to watch out for. Though angels are around us at all times, there are many other spirits out there trying to influence us also. It is the unseen world you have to worry about most. There is simply no end to what you can find out from a dream. Solutions to problems or even inventions have come from dreams. If it can be thought of, it can be dreamt, yet a lot of what we dream, we would have never thought of. Once you wake up and realize the power of a dream, it will be like having your very own psychic. However, to understand dreaming, we must first understand how we were set up to function. Most of us that have had any church experience at all, know that in the bible certain numbers stand out a little more than others. Take for instance the number forty. Moses spent forty years in the desert. Jesus spent forty days in the wilderness. And it rained on Noah and his family for forty days and forty nights. Also the number seven is a big part of our biblical learning. God created the world in seven days, with our weeks also being made up of seven days. There’s the seven seals in the book of Revelation, and the seven plagues; but I guess it is the number three that stands out the most to me. Jesus rose from the dead after three days of being in the grave. The trinity is made up of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and Peter denied Jesus three times. However, when I think of the number three, I see how it is a part of our everyday life. Our days are split up into three parts. The eight hour work day, the eight hours of family time, and the eight hours we devote to sleep. Also when we were created, we were created as a three part being. We have a Body, a mind and a soul. The mind also in a sense has” three areas. We have a conscious, subconscious and a universal or what some call a super-conscious mind. The following is only a brief explanation of our three parts being, the mind, body and soul.

6  Dream Codes Mag

The Mind While in the body, the mind is both physical and spiritual. When the body dies, the fleshly mind or brain, not its past experiences, stays behind. Your soul and mind are the spiritual part of you and never dies. Your mind is the light of your world. Without it you know nothing. When the body and soul cooperate, or are in harmony with each other, your mind can become enlightened. It’s what is called the universal or super conscious mind. If this happens, you can see things from a much higher, broader perspective. If love and truth becomes the main focus of your life, you could gain what is called by Jesus, “The Mind of Christ”. In order for the mind to be balanced, the body must have a good physical diet and the soul, a good spiritual diet. Too much of, or the wrong kind of physical or spiritual food can cause a person to have a sick or unbalanced mind. Being too spiritual minded can be as bad as not being spiritual at all. There must be a balance between the body and soul in order to have a peaceful, healthy, settled mind. The Body The body with its five senses was given to you to experience the type of physical life you chose for yourself while living here on earth. You have to make sure it is taken care of. It not only needs the right food, clothing and shelter, but also the right amount of exercise and rest. It has to be cleaned on a daily basis, and requires a little extra attention now and then. Whether or not you like the way your body looks and functions, it is the tool you have to experience this life in. If you ignore it, it will eventually get your attention. It has the power to create and destroy good and bad influences. Your body is only temporary, and will eventually die, leaving only the negative or positive work it has done, behind. The body with its carnal mind always gets in the way of positive spiritual influences. It is what Satan appeals to and uses to draw us away from God and to destroy our mind. The Soul It was the soul, not the body that was created in the image of God. It’s the real you. It is the part of you that senses and feels what the body cannot see. It is the spiritual part of your three part being. Your soul is not your spirit but is the spiritual part of you. The spirit of a person is what is created by or the outcome of our three-part being working together. The only time your soul can be called a ghost is, if it’s left behind on earth after death. Though the words Soul, Ghost and Spirit are used interchangeably, often times they are not the same thing. Your soul has the power and ability to change the world for the good when not ignored or surprised by the body and carnal mind. It must be fed spiritual food just like the body needs physical food in order to be healthy and function correctly. Though the body will eventually die, the soul and mind are eternal and live on forever. As we sleep, the conscious mind, though still alert to a degree, has less control. The subconscious mind takes over and tries to sort out and make sense of all the information taken in through the body, mind and soul throughout the day. The information is then transformed into images, symbols and feelings which come to us in the form of a dream. Since the body (the physical part of us) has less control, the spirit world also has a better chance of communicating with us. When the body, mind and soul are in harmony or agreement with each other, our dreams become a powerful tool in which to help govern our lives by. Sleep and dreams were created in the beginning so man would never lose touch with the spiritual side of himself. It is said that the more spiritual a person is, the better chance they have of remembering their dreams. I would have to lean toward that statement. It does seem as though the ones that do not believe in or pay little attention to spiritual things, often times think they do not even dream at all. Because we are not able to record our dreams on video tape or capture one in a photo, all we have is our memory to rely on. When a dream is lost or not remembered, it is wasted and gone for good. You could have a similar dream, but no two dreams are exactly alike. It leaves the individual responsible for remembering and interpreting his or her own dream. One-third of our day allows us to involuntarily, temporarily in a sense, crucify the flesh. When Jesus said we must crucify our flesh in order to follow him, he did not mean, kill it. He simply meant that you must control the flesh; do not let it take control. So when we sleep, the flesh is at rest or laid aside for a while. The spirit side of our being can have more of a chance to express itself or to connect to the infinite. We must remember that the fleshly part of us is a wonderful tool in which to experience this life in. However, if the fleshly part of us is in charge or in control, it will destroy itself and everything around it. A third of our life is given to sleep and dreams so we could always have that connection for divine intervention from our home, Heaven. God knew what he was doing. Why do you think he only allowed Lucifer or the Devil to take one-third of the angels and he kept two-thirds? The odds are always in our favor. The outcome was guaranteed in the beginning. Dreams are a divine gift and an important part of whom and what we are. You do not need ESP or a crystal ball to look into the deep meanings of life, just go to sleep and connect. As people begin to wake up to their nightly adventures, dream classes and seminars are springing up all over the United States, yet because most people’s lives are less than perfect, their dreams can be hard to remember and follow. The one thing you should remember is, if your dreams have been ignored by you for most of your life; do not expect to understand them right away just because you have read this or any other dream book. It takes time to figure out and understand the whole dream process. And like I said earlier, dreams are a spiritual experience and can only be understood when examined and studied from a spiritual point of view.

Effects of the Moon

F

by Tim McGovern

or years scientists have done hundreds of tests on the effects of the moon -- particularly the full moon -- on humans, animals, seasons, events etc. While results have been inconclusive and unstable, scientists continue to research this subject. Those that have produced some kind of results to tie this connection together have reported to be flawed or unable to reproduce the same results. However, why do we always tend to ask when something strange happens, “Is it a full moon out tonight, or what?” Why do scientists continue to run tests on the subject if so far results have been full of loopholes?

Regardless of scientific evidence, there is something subconsciously that tells us, yes the moon does affect us. Astrologically speaking, the placement of the moon in the zodiac when we were born is as important as the placement of the Sun in our birth chart. The sun affects our logic and conscious and is calculated approximately every 30 days, so it is easy to calculate. The moon on the other hand moves through the zodiac approximately every 3 days! So it is much harder to calculate. However, the moon affects the other side of our personality, our emotions and our subconscious. What scientists have concluded is that of all the forces that affect the oceans’ tides, nothing is as influential as the gravitational pulls of the moon as it makes its orbit around Earth. Both the human body and the surface of the earth is approximately 70% water. Is this a coincidence? Is it logical for us to think that the moon can affect the tides of the oceans on Earth, but not believe that it affects the human body? Lets stop and think if we compared our mind to the Earth’s surface, how that could correlate. Land representing our conscious would only make up 30% of our thinking; our subconscious (representing water) would hold far more information (70%). Another scientific fact is when a baby is born, when a baby is born, the consist of 78% water, versus an adult male or female which is 55%-60% water. This explains another example of why children may be more open to spiritual, paranormal things, and dreams than adults.

You may notice that there are times when you get a period of very vivid dreams in your life, then it may go back to your normal mundane sleep where you don’t dream that much. If the moon represents our subconscious, and our emotions, similar to the depths of the ocean, our subconscious is a mystery. I personally have very active dreams during a full moon. I was also born at the crest of a full moon. However, a friend of mine gets very vivid dreams during a new moon, but she was born when the moon was waning. Therefore, again, as the depths of the ocean are a mystery, so is our subconscious; we may never conclude what the pattern is on how the moon affects us or our dreams. However there are some things we can determine about the phases of the moon that affect us even in our waking life.

Since the moon has effects on our subconscious personality, it surely has an effect on our dreams, a product of our subconscious at work. The reason why many of us don’t remember our dreams is because we get into the habit of not paying attention to them. Our conscious mind takes in so much information that forces us to forget our dreams usually even before we leave our house for work or school. Then, throughout the day our minds encounter thousands of images, people, conversations, thoughts, etc. Dream experts have concluded that dreams are an integral part of our mind as it sorts out all the information we take in daily. Imagine an internal filing system. It is one that files things in long term memory that we need to remember later, things in short term memory we need soon, and discards lots of other information not needed. Other times, there are questions that we have about certain situations in our life. The answer may have already made itself known to us, however because our conscious minds are flooded with so many things, our conscious did not pick up the clue when it was there for us to see. However, our subconscious did. Therefore, the answer may come to us in a dream. It is important to listen and analyze our dreams, especially those that are very vivid to us. A good thing to do is to keep a dream journal. Our dreams tell a story. Also, a great group online that has several dream interpreters (some are writers in this magazine) is the Dream Codes group found on Facebook. Leon Titus, the administrator has some great books, and a journal you can order from www.amazon.com called Dream Codes.

The full moon phase is when the power of the moon is at its strongest. Emotions are usually at their highest, and this is the most common time when people feel its affects. With emotions at their highest, it is no wonder we see more fights, accidents, passion etc. Therefore people are easily able to correlate these types of things happening, during a full moon. Spiritually speaking, this is a great time for receiving things into your life. On a feelings level, this is also a great time to plan a romantic night with your loved one. As the moon begins to wane, and the power of the moon decreases, this is a great time to let go of things and release. Crescent moon symbolizes cutting away those things no longer needed, by preferably recycling or giving away, instead of throwing things away (as a last resort). All energy in the universe can be released and recycled into new good energy if we focus on it. The new moon usually symbolizes a new cycle of the moon and is a great time for new beginnings and fresh starts. You have let go of what might have been holding you back. You are now ready to move forward on your new path. As the moon begins to wax full, it is a great time to allow good things to come into your life that are positive. The moons power is gaining momentum. In pagan or wiccan circles, good luck spells are very common during this time. The half moon is a good time to talk to people or loved ones about issues or problems. It will allow you to see both sides of the coin, and see each other’s perspectives. Therefore it may be easier to come to a compromise and work things out, versus during a full moon (emotions at their highest) or a new moon when people want to start fresh. Dreams of moons also correlate to the subconscious, our emotional or feminine side (yes men have a feminine side too), or the moon’s power. If you dream of the moon, it could also help to identify what phase the moon is in to get some additional insight as to the message that you may need to hear based on those things mentioned above. Some Rarities Blue moon is when two full moons happen in the same month. This happened in August of 2012 and will happen again in 2015, hence the saying “once in a blue moon.” It is a rare occasion. It is said that the power of the blue moon cycle is doubled during that cycle and month that a blue moon occurs. An eclipse is when the moon is in direct alignment with the sun and earth. During a solar eclipse, the moon is between the Earth and the Sun. This happens during the New Moon phase. A lunar eclipse is when the Earth is between the Sun and Moon. This happens during the full moon phase. The power of the eclipse is said to allow you to briefly see behind the veil of knowledge to get a glimpse of what is going on behind the scenes. The Sun represents our logic, consciousness, and our physical world; therefore, a solar eclipse gives you a glimpse of things happening behind the scenes in all those areas. In a lunar eclipse, we get a glimpse of things that are hidden, things from our subconscious, and our emotions. In most areas of the world, many people will only view a partial eclipse, but its effects can still be felt. (Partial Solar Eclipse in May of 2012. Moon can be seen on lower left side of photo) Below is a list of the phases of the moon for the remainder of the year. There are still two moon rarities this year, a solar and a lunar eclipse. If you follow astrology, knowing what sign the moon is in also takes on those influences of that zodiac sign. For example, the full moon in Sagittarius may exude feelings of exploration, seeking higher knowledge, or fiery passion. These are all characteristics of the sign of Sagittarius.

November 2012  9

by Tim McGovern What is the purpose of animals on this earth? Why was Noah instructed to collect at least one male and one female of every animal in the ark before destroying the world? Did you know that animals can also have a spiritual message or lesson for us? There are even animals that follow us through life. These are called totem animals. As we explore this more each month, you may even end up finding your animal totem. Animal totems are called many things. The most popular names for them are animal spirits, animal guides, and power animals. I should start by explaining what this is not. Your animal totem is not a religion or religious idea, nor does it take the place of deities, angels, saints or other spirit guides. An animal totem is a metaphor. It represents a particular lesson, or characteristic that the animal represents. It can also represent traits that a person has, or strengths they can draw from. There are many ways to calculate you totem animal. Some people refer to Astrology. These are usually calculated depending on your birthday. A few of the common cultures that refer to animals based on your birthday are found with: • Burmese Zodiac Animal Signs • Chinese Zodiac Animals • Celtic Animal Zodiac • Native American Zodiac Animals • Solar Animals • Lunar Animals

These examples all have attributes and strengths. However, astrology isn’t the only way to find your totem animal. Personally, I feel your animal totem is found by looking within. Let me explain further...

In Shamanic circles, there are several totem animals that bring different things to our lives. There is our birth totem animal, which stays with us from the cradle to the grave. There is the power animal, or higher totem, that makes up for the weaknesses of our birth totem, and also stays with us throughout our lives. There are also animal messengers, medicine animals, animal helpers, spirit animals, and more, each with a different message, or lesson for us to learn from. So how does you know if an animal is just crossing your path, or if it is an animal totem? Ask yourself these questions...

Have you ever caught yourself staring at a particular animal, and you’re unsure why? Is there always a specific exhibit that you MUST see at the zoo? Maybe you have had strange dreams of a particular animal. These are all instances that should not be overlooked. As you start to reflect on your life, and you ask these questions, it may become very obvious what YOUR animal totem is. 10  Dream Codes Mag

Here are a few more questions to ask yourself: Which animals have always fascinated you, especially in childhood? Which animals have you always felt connected to? What animals do you see frequently in the wild? Which quality of animal best describes your personality? Which animals do you have around you in pictures or figurines? What animal frightens you most? Remember when we conquer fear it becomes a power. Many Shamans believe that fear will take the shape of an animal that we need to confront without fear. (If we are successful these animals become powerful shadow totems.) Have you ever been attacked or bitten by an animal? (Survival of an attack means the animal becomes a spirit totem.) So as mentioned, there are several different types of animal totems. It is important to figure out what your birth animal totem is first. This is the animal that follows you from the cradle to the grave, and usually the animal that you share some common characteristics with. So take a moment and relax. Think about your life. What is that one animal that has followed you through life? Another thing you can do is meditate, or call to your animal; ask it to make itself known to you either in physical form or in a dream. By Finding your animal totem, you may be able to learn some valuable information about yourself. Or maybe you will learn a valuable lesson that you need to learn for your life. My birth animal totem is Wolf. When I found out that my birth animal totem was wolf, I was not surprised. The characteristics of the wolf totem describe me very well. However, not only did the characteristics that this animal represents describe me, I began to see other occasions where this animal has followed me through life. For example, before I had any dog in my life, or any association with wolves, I had an interesting situation happen to me in the third grade. For art class, I painted the picture below for an assignment. The teacher loved it so much that she entered it into the school art contest that was school wide, all grades. I won third place. I have always been very proud of that achievement and picture. Today, this painting sits on the mantle of my fireplace. I have also always liked big dogs, and in particular those that are “wolf-like.” Below is a picture of my dog Ace (who has now passed) that I had when I was younger. I currently have a Siberian Husky who is also shown below as a puppy. Both dogs have been a very positive source of inspiration for me during my life. A very good friend once called me Soaring Wolf, and I liked it so much, I adopted it as my native name. As you begin to reflect on your life, think about those questions mentioned above. If a particular animal does come to mind when you are thinking about those questions, don’t mistake it for a coincidence. Look up what that particular animal means and see if those traits or lessons apply to your life. Each month we will feature a different animal totem of the month. If you would like us to feature a particular animal that you would like to know about feel free to let us know. For now, “Happy Soaring!” Tim a.k.a. Soaring Wolf November 2012  11

Animal Totem of the Month: WOLF By Tim McGovern

P

lanetary aspects: Lunar Animal (the Moon) Lesson: Intuition, Family Values, Power Animal, Loyalty, Trait: The Teacher Medicine: New ideas and teaching them, death and rebirth, psychic gifts, feeling Contrary Lesson: Limited views, not seeking advice needed, overcome with fear To see this Animal in Your Dreams: Urges you to come forward with your new ideas, and share your views. Only fear, limited thinking, or not seeking proper advice from your own teachers, will hinder you from moving forward and trusting your intuition. Wolf is considered a power animal and is totem to many people. To Native Americans, a wolf was called the “brother of man.” This is similar with the saying of calling dog “man’s best friend.” The difference between dog and wolf is that wolf is a teacher. It goes out into the wild and learns new things to bring back to its pack. If wolf has found you, you can be assured that this lesson will be important, as well as possibly expanding your viewpoints. Like dogs, wolves are loyal. They usually mate for life. They also represent family and social values as they are commonly known as “pack” animals. Ironically, they share the closest resemblance to human interactions with family and society. Like humans, wolves can be very expressive with their feelings. They do not need to fight every single time with another wolf to get their point across. A snarl, growl, or sometimes just a look can get a point across just as effectively. Therefore wolf can also teach us to pay attention to your feelings, or the subtle messages of others’ feelings. As a lunar animal, the wolf is connected to the moon. The moon is a symbol of psychic energy and the unconscious. It holds secrets of knowledge and wisdom. Therefore, medicine of the wolf encourages trusting out intuition and seeking out those intuitive gifts. Being a creature of the night, wolf can tell us what we need to face the unknown and our fears. Nighttime can be scary; do not be overcome with fear. They are commonly misunderstood as ferocious animals and aggressive. However, as we look closer, we see that they, like humans, are territorial. A howl at the moon could be a communication to find their pack, or to let other packs of their boundaries. Wolf could also be a symbol for standing your ground when needed. Some farmers have painted this ugly picture of wolves as being aggressive, not realizing that they themselves have pushed their way into several packs’ boundaries like white settlers did with the Native Americans. They have simply defended their territory. To see a lone wolf, symbolizes independence. Tim Soaring Wolf 12  Dream Codes Mag

Compassion Vs Consu merism by Natalie Broome W e’re all so caught up in the ‘Land Of More’ that we often seem to forget to appreciate what we currently have, regardless of how much or how little that is. What would it be like for us to just sit back, look around, and say “Yes, this is enough. This is all I need”, and to just stop with the materialism we have become so enraptured with? What would it be like to really listen to what another person has to say rather than judging them for their position in the financial lions den, the things they own, and their paper credentials?

There are so many people out there who would give anything to just be able to sit with someone and have their story heard, their feelings validated, and their thoughts taken into consideration. Sadly, these days, the person doing the listening is often a paid counsellor and it just isn’t the same as having a compassionate human who is not being paid to listen to you. Counsellors are a necessity to our civilization, and they do fantastic work. However, wouldn’t it be nice to not have to pay someone? If instead, someone was just there when you needed them, to look into your eyes, or hear a slight difference in your tone of voice, and for them to just say “It’s OK. What’s wrong?” and to genuinely care about your answer. People get so wrapped up in getting the right job, buying all the right products, getting ahead of others, that it seems we’ve traded compassion for consumerism. If we focused our technological enhancements solely on the things that matter, such as healthcare, and less on creating virtual reality games and consoles, our current system would be vastly different. Life has become so depersonalized. Pretty much everything we do revolves around avoiding physical contact (e.g. texting, e-mail, online shopping, etc.), it makes me wonder what the future holds for the next generation; whether we will even remember how to build a relationship without all of this gadgetry. If you look into the past, before this Age of Technology came to pass, communities were usually quite tight-knit. People would stop to chat in the street and exchange words of meaning and content, rather than being at a loss for words and getting away quickly because everything has been ‘said’ over a text. So what would it be like for you to go and see that person the next time they sound in need, rather than changing the conversation quickly via technology and getting on with your day as if no-one needs your help? It costs nothing to listen, but it can cost you everything if you keep turning away. After all…sometimes, all we really need, is just a friend.

“Dream Interpretation and the Basics Everyone Should Learn”

by Patsy Reeves

When I was 24 a friend gave me a book on dream interpretation. It was no coincidence that it was given to me

at a time in my life when I was questioning all things spiritual. A co-worker constructed and read my natal chart, I met a clairvoyant and I was reading books on Edgar Cayce. If nothing else, I was extremely curious about all this new information and open to learning something new. I read the book cover to cover and began following the instructions. I was to keep a pad and pen by my bed and upon awakening, write down every single detail of my dreams, without changing or embellishing the events. At first I could only retain a word or perhaps a sentence. But within a month, I was writing down five or six pages worth of dreams every morning. There was so much to be recorded that usually I would have to stop writing or risk being late for work. After successfully reprogramming my brain to pay attention to my dreams, the next mission was to learn what the dreams meant and how to understand the language. It is a language of it’s own. It is the universal language that transcends all cultures and time. Learning it is no different than learning Italian or German. You begin with the basics and keep adding to your vocabulary. Because we were given free will, Spirit never directly tells us how to live our life. During sleep we are being guided through symbols and parables. Decoding the meaning will help us to evolve and live a happier , more joyous life that is in harmony with our life’s purpose. There are different kinds of dreams to include cleansing, preparatory, precognitive, instructive, compensatory and shock treatment. It’s usually the shock treatment ones that we remember. The categories of symbols are vast. Animals, plants, flowers, numbers, colors, gemstones, inanimate objects, people to name a few. Motions and one’s actions are just as meaningful. Going up, down, forward, backward, running, paralyzed, upside down, fast, slow when paired with another symbol give the dreamer very important clues to the meaning of the dream. In the beginning phases of learning dream language, it is a good idea to get a couple of books on dream interpretation or dream dictionaries and read them cover to cover. Read them a couple of times. Without realizing it, you will be putting these symbols in your subconscious or data base. By reading all the symbols, you will also begin to see the logic of the symbols and their attached meaning. In time you will just “know” what that symbol, object or action means to you. It’s also important to remember that not all books are correct and may contain false information. Consider the source. Choose wisely one that seems centered in one’s evolution and does not feel “dark”. Some books just feel dark, so use your intuition or ask someone whose opinion on the subject you respect. This gets to the main point. The dreams are YOUR dreams. No one can ever exactly tell you what your dream means, except you. One might come close or even get it right, but no one else should have that responsibility to do the work for you. Although the symbols are pretty much universal, certain experiences in one’s life can magnetize

16  Dream Codes Mag

a symbol to have special meaning to you. For example, if as a child, a clown scared you half to death at a circus, the word and symbol of a clown can be traumatic to you, rather than a symbol of goofiness. Dreams are actually guidance from the higher self if heeded and understood can speed up the process of one’s own soul evolution. Your understanding of them will directly correlate to your dedication, involvement and self education. Insight to your dreams will increase in proportion to your honesty about your efforts of self evaluation. There are four basic missions of dreams. Primitive: These dreams teach us about our will to survive. They include symbols like earthquakes, fires, floods, storms, serpents, gorillas, alligators and so on. They give us clues on how to correct really primitive thinking as well as the traumatic and dramatic times in our life. Domestic: This is dealing with winning and losing in life, our integrity and honor, birth, death, sex, love, family and the daily dramas. Individuality, the Lesser Self: In these dreams we face issues of immaturity, the ego, power and control, the magnification of our abilities and faults. The Higher Self: Our uniqueness remains while evolving into a perfected being. Dream categories are vast, but there are a few basic repeating symbols that occur in most all of our dreams. Houses usually set the stage in the beginning of a dream. It can be a mansion, your childhood home, a shack, a hotel or an apartment. The house represents your current state of consciousness, which is always changing. If it is a mansion, it shows a very expanded state of mind, where one is growing and learning new concepts. A hotel or an apartment sets the stage to tell you, regardless of what is going on in life, this is temporary and in time, this will pass. Within the house, always pay attention to the room you are in as it will give you a further clue to what area of life, the dream message is about. If you are in a bedroom, the dream is focusing on your “intimate” life, your very personal relationships, the bonds between people. If you are in the kitchen in your dream, the message is about all things you “take in”, such as the food you eat, the music you listen to, the TV you watch, the people that talk to you. It is about how you nourish yourself. The bathroom is the room one uses to cleanse, refresh and let go. Although these are usually embarrassing or icky to have, they are a good sign that you have reached a stage in your life where you are ready to let the past go and make improvements.

The dreams are YOUR dreams. No one can ever exactly tell you what your dream means, except you.

The house is just one example of important dream symbols. The vehicle is another. The vehicle houses your soul. The kind of vehicle you are riding in shows how you are moving through life. Are you in the back seat, letting someone else have the power and control? Are you driving a motorcycle or sports car way too fast and living a bit risky? Or are you driving a semi-truck hauling all the baggage left over from every relationship gone bad, never letting go and forgiving old hurts? The symbols in your dreams are not random. They do have meaning. It does take some time to learn the language, but if you don’t begin, you are losing valuable keys, guideposts and road maps that Spirit/God, or Creative Intelligence wants you to have. Never be afraid of your dreams. Remember sometimes we are so stuck in our lives that Spirit resorts to shock treatment and exaggeration to get your attention. There was a purpose in being chased by snakes, swimming with sharks or having blue hair. It’s a good thing to wonder about your dreams and ask for help understanding. It’s even better to use that help to further your own dream education, learn more and in turn one day become the one to help another.

Invite your Guardian Angel into your Life by Suzanne Taylor In the year 2010 I struggled most days to get out of bed. I was suffering with chronic fatigue along with terrible

mood swings; “Life was dark.” Around summer time I started dreaming about future events; my friends would laugh at me so instantly when I told them. I brushed them off. My dreams became stronger and I felt they were warning me about a male influence in my life; the warning was, there is a male who was draining my energy; this is called an energy vampire. 1111 seemed to be everywhere I looked; why was I seeing this number sequence? Someone from the spirit world must be trying to give me a message. I was drawn to a card that a friend of mine gave me Linda a Spiritualist Medium, I called Linda to arrange a reading but she instantly began to give me clairvoyant messages over the phone. Linda told me my energy levels were sky high and continued to bring my Gran through from the spirit world. “Anne” she kept repeated. I was shocked how she of could know my Gran’s name! Linda passed on a few messages to me that day. The main message was that no one would want me in a clairvoyance development circle with the; I was going to struggle finding help with my mediumship. This was very true as I was let down by many spiritual people and felt surrounded by jealousy; as my Clairvoyance was really strong about this. One man came to my rescue his name was Alan Gilmour. He helped me get started on my journey, but the best thing Alan did for me was passing alone a book written by Lorna Byrne; it was called ‘Angels in my Hair.’ As I was reading ‘Angels in my Hair’ I can across many sections about Archangel Michael. Suddenly he seemed to flash sparkles of light on the exact sentence I had to take note of or he would come through in a strong vibration. In November of 2011 late at night, I had a visitor, as vibrant blue lights flashed I knew it was Archangel Michael again, he spoke through my mind’s eye shared incidents that occurred in the past that were coming to light; everything had been clarified for me and realisation began to sink in, I do communicate with Angels. Since then I have red Lorna’s other two books ‘Stairway to Heaven and ‘A Message of Hope from the Angels.’ As a Clairvoyant I am extremely sensitive to people’s energy so without the right protection, I can be bed bound for days. With the criticisms and negative energies thrown at me in the past, I am now stronger than ever. My chronic fatigue and mood swing troubles are 100% gone. My purpose in life is to serve God and the Angels. I communicate with Archangel Michael, Archangel Gabriel, Archangel Raphael, Archangel Metatron, Drew my Guardian Angel and have teacher Angels that are helping me as I write this article. Ascending Masters are slowly making me aware of their presence, I am in no way extra special to anyone BUT I know I’m on the right path and will always EMBRACE THE LIGHT. Looking back on my life I’m starting to remember experiences such as just knowing things, transfiguring in the mirror and understand why I was very sensitive as a child. The Angels saved my life so I dedicate my life to helping others communicate with their Angels. If you don’t already communicate with your Guardian Angel then let’s change that TODAY! Does my Guardian Angel live in Heaven? Your Guardian Angel is a gift from God, he or she never leaves your side not even for a few minutes. Angels connect to your soul rather than the physical body. They don’t hang around as you shower. What does my Guardian Angel do? Well I can honestly say from my heart, your Guardian Angel does many things. It gives you support, encouragement, guidance, help with decision making, Easing pain and giving you warnings. For example you have a thought that pops into your head, ‘I must remember to lift those keys,’ You forget your keys because you did not pay attention. The outcome? You are locked out your home. Will I hear or see my Guardian Angels? You may never physically hear or see your Guardian Angel. However listening to your thoughts, feelings and trusting your intuition will be a good start. Always go with your gut instinct. How do I get started? Simply say “Hello” either out loud or in your head, whatever you feel comfortable with. Have a conversation about your

18  Dream Codes Mag

Garden or the moon, or whatever else is simple to start out with. Your Guardian Angel will be happy to listen. You may wish to sit with a pen and paper asking some questions and writing down your thoughts. If you find yourself doubting while you read this article, ask for a sign. What is my sign likely to be? The same book is mentioned to you by 3 different people. You may find a feather. Sometimes our lifestyles are a bit hectic that we tend to miss signs. Listen to thoughts and feelings. For example, you’re driving in your car, about to turn left although your gut instinct is saying go right. You find out right was the correct way to go. Are you going to brush it off or take it as a sign? Angels are our gift from the divine known as ‘Divine Messengers, Divine love and light or Magical beings of light.’ Your spirit guides are people who have once lived on this earth. Your spirit guides have Egos the same way your spirit family/friends do BUT Angels don’t. I have never seen an Angel in person or have I? I see colours dance around my room normally vibrant blue I have seen the outline of an Angel flash before me in a clouded white; I am shown visions with my third eye “Like having a TV in my forehead.” Mostly I feel my hair being played with at the back of my head or hear the song ‘Why do birds suddenly appear.’ Angels cannot interfere with your free will but will always work in love and light. As a Clairvoyant working with the Angels I’m faced with the dark side. They try their hardest to drain me and knock me off course. This can either be through people, as I seem to attract the energy vampires or I feel the dark side as they circle my house like wolves. Being faced with the dark side you tremble with fear BUT with the Archangels by my side I’m not alone. I will discuss my experience with the dark side in a future issue but, balance is the key, so I make sure I have regular breaks, have fun days and nights out with friends. I give my-self regular Reiki treatments, practise meditation and do regular workouts. Some of my workouts I do are Yoga and Muay Thai Boxing to keep my Chakras in good balance. Running a development circle and Reiki business I do tend to get drained and say out loud, “I’m giving up” but I’m supported by the Angels who step in with their clever words and healing energies. I am grateful for my life and know whatever tasks are put in front of me will make me stronger and wiser. My daughter is my strength. In our next addition of Dream Codes Magazine I will go more in depth about communicating with your Spirit Guides and how to properly protect yourself. God Bless.

can still remember the day that I was introduced to the Edgar Cayce writings. A friend of mine knew that I was interested in psychic phenomenon, so she printed something off for me from an internet site about a famous psychic. It was an introduction to and history of a man known as the sleeping prophet, Edgar Cayce. As I read his story I knew that I needed to read more of his material. After buying and reading my first book from the Cayce writings, I became infatuated with his work. I eventually learned so much about so many different spiritual subjects from the Cayce materials, that it changed my life. It caused me to look at spiritual things from a different perspective and to see things from outside the box. It helped me to sort out my religious conflicts and beliefs and focus more on other possible spiritual truths. So now that I’m in a position to send out spiritual truths and ideas, I thought I would share some of Mr. Cayce’s writings with our readers. We’ve created a spot in our magazine called Cayce’s corner. In each issue we will bring to you material and ideas from the Cayce group. Although most people that are interested in psychic phenomenon know of Edgar Cayce and his work, we thought that for those of you that are less familiar with him would enjoy a brief history of his life. - Leon

Who Was Edgar Cayc e?

E

Twentieth Century Psychic and Medical Clairvoyant

dgar Cayce (pronounced Kay-Cee, 1877-1945) has been called the “sleeping prophet,” the “father of holistic medicine,” and the most documented psychic of the 20th century. For more than 40 years of his adult life, Cayce gave psychic “readings” to thousands of seekers while in an unconscious state, diagnosing illnesses and revealing lives lived in the past and prophecies yet to come. But who, exactly, was Edgar Cayce?

Cayce was born on a farm in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, in 1877, and his psychic abilities began to appear as early as his childhood. He was able to see and talk to his late grandfather’s spirit, and often played with “imaginary friends” whom he said were spirits on the other side. He also displayed an uncanny ability to memorize the pages of a book simply by sleeping on it. These gifts labeled the young Cayce as strange, but all Cayce really wanted was to help others, especially children. Later in life, Cayce would find that he had the ability to put himself into a sleep-like state by lying down on a couch, closing his eyes, and folding his hands over his stomach. In this state of relaxation and meditation, he was able to place his mind in contact with all time and space — the universal consciousness, also known as the super-conscious mind. From there, he could respond to questions as broad as, “What are the secrets of the universe?” and “What is my purpose in life?” to as specific as, “What can I do to help my arthritis?” and “How were the pyramids of Egypt built? His responses to these questions came to be called “readings,” and their insights offer practical help and advice to individuals even today. Many people are surprised to learn that Edgar Cayce was a devoted churchgoer and Sunday school teacher. At a young age, Cayce vowed to read the Bible for every year of his life, and at the time of his death in 1945, he had accomplished this task. Perhaps the readings said it best, when asked how to become psychic, Cayce’s advice was to become more spiritual. Although Cayce died more than 60 years ago, the timeliness of the material in the readings — with subjects like discovering your mission in life, developing your intuition, exploring ancient mysteries, and taking responsibility for your health — is evidenced by the hundreds of books that have been written on the various aspects of this work as well as the dozen or so titles focusing on Cayce’s life itself. Together, these books contain information so valuable that even Edgar Cayce himself might have hesitated to predict their impact on the contemporary world. In 1945, the year of his passing, who could have known that terms such as “meditation,” “Akashic records,” “spiritual growth,” “auras,” “soul mates,” and “holistic health” would become household words to millions? The majority of Edgar Cayce’s readings deal with holistic health and the treatment of illness. As it was at the time Cayce was giving readings, still today, individuals from all walks of life and belief receive physical relief from illnesses or ailments through information given in the readings — some readings were given as far back as 100 years ago! Yet, although best known for this material, the sleeping Cayce did not seem to be limited to concerns about the physical body. In fact, in their entirety, the readings discuss an astonishing 10,000 different topics. This vast array of subject matter can be narrowed down into a smaller group of topics that, when compiled together, deal with the following five categories: (1) Health-Related Information; (2) Philosophy and Reincarnation; (3) Dreams and Dream Interpretation; (4) ESP and Psychic Phenomena; and (5) Spiritual Growth, Meditation, and and Prayer. Further details of Cayce’s life and work are explored in the classic book, There Is a River (1942), by Thomas Sugrue, available in hardback, paperback, or audio book versions. Members of Edgar Cayce’s Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.), the nonprofit founded by Cayce in 1931, have access to the entire set of 14,306 readings in a database residing in the member-only section of our Web site. The readings can also be found in their entirety in our on-site library, located at our headquarters in Virginia Beach and open to the public daily. For more information on A.R.E., please visit our About A.R.E. page.

Cayce’s Corner by Leon Titus

Cayce Be consistent in all thou doest, and when thou has conquered self thou mayest be able to govern another. 257-53 Cayce The conquering of self is truly greater than were one to conquer many worlds. 115-1 When Edgar Cayce spoke about self-control, he was simply referring to and agreeing with Jesus and what he said about crucifying the flesh. However, when Jesus talked about crucifying the flesh, he didn’t necessarily mean kill it. If that were the case, we should all commit suicide and simply get it over with. Jesus was talking about not allowing the flesh to take control, but controlling the flesh. When the flesh is in control, it will destroy itself. If the flesh of Jesus had its way, he would have never died on the cross and allowed himself to be sacrificed for all. The carnal man did not want to suffer pain, embarrassment and shame. Cayce In the accomplishment of good, self must first be conquered and put in submission to the Will of the Giver, the Omnipotent Force as is manifested through the various phases of those experiences…in which the Oneness in Him is made one with him, the All. 5618-8 The will of the father is simply to not allow the carnal mind/flesh, to have control. The human body and mind are beautiful things when controlled by the mind of Christ. However, if the carnal mind has control; we tend to create confusion, which the bible clearly states that God is not the author of. When we get confused, we don’t think straight; when we don’t think straight, we make bad decisions; when we make bad decisions it causes us to be even more confused, and so on and so forth. Cayce While the body is subjected to all the influences of materiality, it may be controlled—the emotions thereof—by the mind. And

the mind may be directed by the spirit. 2533-1

So as we see in the Cayce writings, the mind is the key to controlling the flesh. The carnal/fleshly mind will destroy good, and the spiritual/Christ mind, creates good. The body has needs, and yes it’s ok to cater to it now and then. After all, this body is what we were given to experience our spiritual life in here on earth. We must take care of it. It needs to be feed, washed, and occasionally, pampered. Conquering self has never been easy, but it can be done. Jesus was the example

Fighting For Love L

by Natalie Broome

et’s talk about Higher Power.

I should begin this article by telling you that by religious orientation, I am Pagan. I come from a family which incorporates Atheist views, Christian views, and also, going back on my family tree, even Jewish views. My friend group has a wider religious distribution, supporting Buddhist, Muslim, and Agnostic views, as well as those mentioned to exist within my family. So with all these different views, the subject of God, or a Higher Power, comes up quite frequently. Over the years, I have witnessed a number of conversations on religion that have begun as some form of intellectual debate about the meaning of life, creation, and the like. However, when you have a diverse group of people who are all passionate about their views and beliefs, it usually ends up very tense and heated, as there tends to be that one person involved who always has to push the boundaries, and over-steps the line into the territory of verbal disrespect. In my experience, it comes from a throw-away comment about someone’s belief being ‘stupid’ and making no sense, and then that same person backing themselves up with ‘evidence’ to support their own view and disprove the other. So my question is:

If the view isn’t harmful to either the individual that possesses it or those around him/her, Why is it SO important that we try to devalue any good they may take from it, for the sake of our own ego? The word ‘God’ is an odd word. With so many different interpretations to such a wide variety of people from all over the world, it seems to me that the term is too often used as point of conflict, that we sometimes forget the true message. If you look closely, the most common factor in all religion is Love. Whether that love is called to be a love of God, a love of the Earth, a love of All Creation, or a love of your Neighbour, that love they all speak of is Unconditional Love; selfless love, compassionate love, love with pure intent. LOVE! …Even if you’re Atheist you’ll still spend your life searching for, finding, and cherishing love, yet still, without having to connect that love to a God, the connection with Love IS the God Energy, Higher Power, or whichever other name you choose to give to that which is in All. With that in mind, what does it matter which religion someone else belongs to? They all share the same ultimate goal…a world of Love. So regardless of what is right or wrong for you personally in terms of belief structure, we all have the same thing in common. Rather than wasting our time fighting about it, why don’t we spend some time in each others company, relishing in the vast variety of ways in which that Higher Power of Love can connect with every single human being?! 24  Dream Codes Mag

Getting to know your Chakras

I

by Suzanne Taylor

have no idea what a Chakra is… Many people don’t unless they are involved in Meditation, yoga or some sort of Spiritual practise such as healing. As you read this article have a look at the diagram to help you visualise. Let’s get started.

So what is Chakra? A Chakra is a spinning vortex of subtle energy. The term comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Wheel’ or ‘Turning’ because these centers appear to yogis and clairvoyants as whirling disks of light. A Chakra is a, ‘wheel of energy.’ The physical body has 88,000 Chakras in total BUT let’s concentrate on the main ones. There are seven main Chakras that run from the base of your spine to the top of your head. Each has a front and back that join at the spine. Looking at the diagram you can see each Chakra has a specific colour. At the base of the spine there is an energy that lies dormant called the Kundalini. “My Kundalini was released in February 2012, as I was meditating my spine started making snake movements, the energy rose all the way up to my Crown Chakra. The Kundalini energy is very powerful, I felt enlightened.” Violet – Crown Chakra Indigo – Third Eye Chakra Blue – Throat Chakra Green – Heart Chakra Yellow – Solar Plexus Chakra Orange – Sacral Chakra Red – Base/Root Chakra So my Chakras are wheels of energy that spin…Yes this is correct. Your Chakras rotate clockwise. In females the Base Chakra rotates anti–clockwise. If the Chakra is sluggish it may not be spinning properly. Your Chakra will stop spinning and may shut down if the dense energies build up. This is when it is said the major organs or glands in your body become affected. I like to look at the 88,000 Chakras in my body as, “Diamond Crystals” that all connect and join together. I am an Energy Healer and this visualisation was given to me by my Japanese Reiki Guide. Chakras connect our body to the environment through the exchange of energy. They transform subtle energy into various frequencies that our energy system needs to keep us healthy. Negative thoughts and feelings can get lodged in the Chakras reducing the amount of energy they can provide. Malfunctions can lead to mental, emotional, physical or spiritual disturbances. I have heard people talking about the Aura, is this linked to my Chakras? It sure is. The Aura is the energy that surrounds the physical body and normally extends to about 4 feet. The Aura is made up of layers known as subtle light bodies. Each level is said to represent a different part of our consciousness, from physical to spiritual, and corresponds to one of the 7 major Chakras. The inner layers of the Aura are said to be the denser energy, each layer after being of finer and higher vibrations.

Imagine you step into a room. Five of your friends are sitting watching Television. You feel as though November 2012  25

you could cut the atmosphere with a knife without anyone speaking to you. How do you feel this? Your energetic body/Aura is picking this up. So in future take note. Try this little Exercise. Stretch your arms out in front of you; face your palms into your body. Close your eyes now relax and become aware of your energy. Slowly bending your arms start to bring your palms closer to your heart Chakra. Did you feel a change in the energy? It took me a few times to feel the change but keep trying. Checking your Chakras with a Pendulum. Ok a pendulum is a crystal that hangs on a chain. Pendulums swing freely under the influence of gravity. The pendulum is a great tool for checking the condition of your Chakras, it can be hard work though as you need to lie on your back holding your pendulum 4 inches above your body. By the time I get to my third eye my arm is sore. Always hold your pendulum in your dominant hand. Ok so, lying down, pillow behind your head, start with the Base Chakra. Hold your pendulum 4 inches above your body. If the pendulum spins anti-clockwise then dense energy needs to be taken out. Lie back and allow the Crystal pendulum to keep spinning until it stops. When it has stopped the dense energy has been removed. The pendulum will then start to spin clock-wise which means it’s starting to spin its correct way. When the pendulum stops your chakra is balanced. If your pendulum starts to spin anti-clockwise again it may be un-balanced in two areas e.g. spiritually and physically. Continue this technique on each of the Chakras. You may also experiment with your pendulum on different parts of the body. For example you may have trapped nerves in your wrists so, help them out by removing the dense energy that has built up. Chakra Balancing Tip Remember, our thoughts are important as, negative thoughts and feelings can get lodged in the Chakras, reducing the amount of energy they can provide. Affirmations are good for changing thought patterns. An affirmation is a statement expressing the desired outcome that you say to yourself. It puts you in a frame of mind that assumes your goals are achievable and possible. Using affirmations every day, they become firmly planted in your unconscious mind, your thoughts, your energy, and spiritual self; eventually what you have affirmed for becomes a reality. “In the next issue of Dream Codes Magazine I will go into more detail about the BASE CHAKRA. This will also include; how and why you should protect your Aura, signs and symptoms of being ungrounded and how to ground your spirit. The article will include ‘Chakra balancing using Crystals.” Love and Light Suzanne

very month we will be featuring a “Spotlight of the Sky” of some key planetary influences that may affect us all. This month is a time to reflect inward. We have a few important transits, that all point to reflection: Uranus Retrograde JULY 13 through DECEMBER 13 Mercury Retrograde NOVEMBER 6 through NOVEMBER 26 Solar Eclipse-- NOVEMBER 13th-- 22° Scorpio Lunar Eclipse-- NOVEMBER 28th-- 7° Gemini/Sagittarius When a planet is retrograde, it only appears to be moving backwards in the sky as it passes up Earth but its backwards affects can still be felt. Uranus retrograde brings about a revolution internally. Mercury being the planet of communication, thinking, and travel tells us to communicate within our own subconscious. Outward travel may not be favored during the Mercury retrograde, but taking a spiritual or mental voyage is. Enjoy the journey and learn from it. As we reflect inward, there are some mighty changes and discoveries to be found. This November is a time to investigate our subconscious and probe deep within. Make those necessary internal changes such as our ideas, our beliefs, our attitudes, etc, to gain the most from this influence. Uranus brings on the feeling of “going against the flow” and changing things up; this is favored, but INTERNALLY, not outwardly. A split, divorce, switching jobs, moving homes, is NOT favored during this time. Changing your environment does not change YOU. If you have been feeling these effects of desired change, look inward as with this particular retrograde, things that are bottled up inside of you may now explode with “Eureka!!” moments of discovery! Use this influence wisely. Aquarians are affected much more by the influences of Uranus since it is their ruling planet; and Gemini’s and Virgos are more affected by Mercury Retrogrades as Mercury is their ruling planet. We also have two rare, but important occurences in the month of November. A Solar eclipse during the New moon, and a Lunar eclipse during the Full moon. Eclipses allow us to see for a brief moment, behind the curtain or veil of uncertainty. Since the sun rules the conscious side of our mind, during the solar eclipse, something in our external world that is hidden may become known. The moon has to do with our subconsious. So during the lunar eclipse, hidden things may be revealed but internally through our subconscious, ie. our spiritual gifts, intuition, or dreams. If we pay attention during these two eclipses, we could learn something valuable that would otherwise remain hidden from our eyes.

Goddess of the Month: Persephone by Natalie Broome Pantheon: Ancient Greek Correlates To: Roman Goddess - Proserpina Maiden Aspect of the Triple Goddess - The Crone. Mythological Parentage: Father: Zeus (God of the Heavens) Mother: Demeter (Goddess of Agriculture) Mythological Background: Persephone’s mother, Demeter, was very cautious with her daughters companionship and kept her hidden for most of her life and out of the company of the male Gods who would court her. Zeus’ brother, Hades (God of the Underworld), had fallen in love with Persephone, and Zeus, knowing that Demeter would never allow it, advised Hades to steal her away and take her down to the Underworld where she would not be found. Hades followed the advice, leaving Demeter distraught at the loss of her much loved daughter. Demeter searched everywhere for her daughter, and it was Hecate, Goddess of Witchcraft, and Farsightedness (ability to see past, present and future), who told her what had happened. Demeter was furious with Zeus and demanded that he make Hades return her daughter or she would forsake her role as Goddess and the creatures of the world would starve to death. Zeus gave in to her wishes and told Hades she had to come back. Hades, not wanting to lose his love, Persephone, forever, tricked her into eating a pomegranate; she ate four seeds. By rule of the Furies, if you consumed any food or drink in the Underworld, you must stay there forever. However, Hecate bargained with them that since Persephone ate four seeds, she would stay in the Underworld for four months of the year, and the rest of the time, she was free to live back above with Demeter and the other Gods. It was so. It is said that, with Demeter’s responsibility falling over Agriculture, the four months of Winter are reflective of Persephone’s transference to the Underworld; - Winter, being the four months when crops die and/or do not grow as well, is the time that Demeter feels the loss of her daughter, once again, to the Underworld. - Samhain (Halloween: 31st October-1st November), being the day that the veil between the Worlds is the thinnest, is said to be the period of time during which Persephone makes her descent. Spiritual Properties: - Persephone, being the product of the God of the Heavens and the Goddess of Agriculture, had an excellent relationship with Nature, and it is said that she could help the plants grow. - She takes part in the cycle of the seasons, since it is her descent that inspires her mother to cause the months of Winter. - Spending four months of the year in the Underworld, and being Hades wife and Hecate’s friend, gives her power in the Underworld. - The pomegranate is the fruit that symbolizes her.

eligion is a twofold word. People use it to describe the many faiths around the world. However it also means something else. It is the acts that one does to demonstrate their beliefs and their faith. Even though religion and spirituality go hand in hand, they are different and mean different things. Spirituality is internal. Religion is external. Spirituality is more about your connection with the spirit world, your higher being, and your relationship with God. One can say they have faith, but can truly never prove it. Only God knows our heart. The truth is, we all have faith. We use it every day… when we sit down on a chair, when we get on an airplane, or when we go to work. People believe that a chair would hold them up when they sit down, or they wouldn’t sit down so casually. Some people never meet the pilot of an airplane, but have faith that he is going to take them to their destination. And although someone is not paid everyday, they go to work everyday, having faith that they will receive a paycheck at the end of the pay period. These are just a few examples. Now when we put our faith in the universe, God, or something else that is not seen with hands, this is our spirituality. Whether we believe in speaking with angels, saints, deities, karma, etc, this is OUR spirituality. It is said, you shall know the trees by the fruit they bear. And it is believed that a person of faith will bear good fruit, meaning doing good deeds, and being a good person. However, just because a person does not do external things to display their faith, does not mean they are not a very spiritual person on the inside. They may not be religious, but they can still be spiritual. Likewise, just because a person does several good things, like going to church, volunteering in the community, is a Good Samaritan, etc., does not mean that they are a spiritual person. They may be considered very religious (because they are doing the external deeds) but they could be dead on the inside. In Matthew 23:27, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and called them white sepulchers, like tombs. They were beautiful on the outside, but full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean on the inside. This was the message that Jesus intended. One can be religious and not spiritual, but what is most important to God is to be spiritual, not necessarily religious. Now the other meaning of the word “religion,” like mentioned above, is to describe the many faiths of the world. Many people will seek for their spirituality THROUGH religion, and unfortunately never find it, because they do not know that spirituality is DIFFERENT than religion. Although most religions mean well, sometimes they do more harm than good. When men and women get together and start making rules and laws around what they think God may or may not allow, then look out. This has been going on long before Jesus came here. Even in the bible, we see in Genesis, when the people of November 2012  29

Israel were left alone while Moses communed with God and created the Ten Commandments, the people in their impatience, made a golden calf and were found dancing around this calf and worshipping it as their God. Moses was so angry he broke the first set of tablets of the Ten Commandments. Today we still find this impatience of “creating” God in our world. God created man in his image and it appears as though man has turned around and recreated God in man’s image. The old testament of the bible teaches us about a vengeful, wrathful, jealous, angry God, always ready to destroy man at the drop of a hat. Yet Jesus painted a whole different picture of our heavenly father. He spoke of a loving, merciful, patient, understanding God. God had always been the same God, and Jesus tried to make the people understand this. However they did not. They believed God to be as judgmental and merciless as they were, so in the end, they crucified what they thought was a lie. As a musician and minister, I have had the opportunity to sing and preach in a lot of different churches. From Pentecostal to Baptist, and everything in between, I have heard their truths and I have participated in their services. All religions have their own beliefs that set them apart from the others. Yet there is always one thing they all have in common; they all think they are right. They are sure that the way they interpret the bible is correct. This is not anything new, but it is sure getting old. Now a days, I thank God that people are starting to wake up. And there is one more thing they all agree on; and that is that the new age movement that has come about over the last few decades is evil and created by Satan. They have no idea that the so-called “new age movement” is older than their own religion, and was here long before the gospels. Because the new age movement is much different, it does not make it evil. People these days are looking for a spiritual connection. They are tuning into the SIGNS around them and listening to that inner voice, called intuition. Now if you are one of the millions of people in the world seeking for your own spirituality through religion, there is something you should know. Before you start believing something, you should do some investigating first. Find out where a certain religion came from before you join and start believing it, and also find out when it came about. Do not just take a pastor’s or a church member’s word for it. The scriptures tell us to STUDY to show our self-approved unto God. It does not say, READ to show our self-approved unto God. There is a big difference. Reading is only a part of studying. Whether it is a teacher, a scientist or whomever, they not only read everything they can about a subject, but they also put bugs into jars to study, they use microscopes and telescopes to search for answers, they approach everyone they can on a subject and ask questions in order to learn all they can about something before coming to a conclusion. 1 John 4:1 says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” I heard a story about an escape artist. They put him in a prison cell and gave him thirty minutes to escape. After an hour he was still working hard to get the cell door open. After a couple hours of trying everything he knew to try, he finally gave up. Exhausted and worn out, he sat on the floor of the prison cell and leaned back against the big old heavy door. Just then he heard a click, slowly the cell door began to open. The cell door 30  Dream Codes Mag

God created man in his image and it appears as though man has turned around and recreated God in man’s image.

was never locked to begin with, but he was told that it was and simply believed it instead of checking it out for himself first. So he was trying all the wrong things to get free, when actually he was already free, he just didn’t know it. He was trapped. I know for a fact that some religions can cause people to believe their truths and keep individuals trapped. I am not talking the obvious group that intentionally causes harm; I am talking about an ordinary everyday bible believing church. Be careful, and do not believe everything you are told. Check things out first. Ask God to help you see the truth. He will, if you are willing to listen and recognize his voice.

Here is one thing you will eventually find out about God: God is normal. No parting of the seas or supernatural things going on. Jesus simply sent us the Holy Spirit to guide us in all things, and that pretty much says it all. It is fine to have your beliefs, but be open for truth. Just accept the fact and admit it to yourself that you might not know all there is to know about heavenly things. When you come to that point, you can be taught. Sometimes we have to be deprogrammed before we can hear and accept the truth and in a sense be reprogrammed. With thousands of religions out there all claiming to have the truth, how in the world can we know which one is right? I finally had to temporarily break away from the religion that licensed me as a minister in order to figure things out. Not that there was anything wrong with the organization, it was just something I needed to do. I needed time to think, analyze, and consider other truths. The bible tells us that God is not the author of confusion. So if you are a part of a church or ministry that has you confused or maybe things just do not feel right, step back and look at it. It may just be you and not the church, but you owe it to yourself to find out. I have had good and bad experiences throughout the years in the ministry, and I came to the conclusion that, the real church is within each of us. That is where God meets with us and that is where Christ resides. In conclusion, as much as you try, you will never find your spirituality through a church or a religion. It is something within you, a decision you have to make, and a connection that you must find. You can be religious and think you are doing the all the right things, but that doesn’t make you spiritual. It makes you religious.

Eye/I problems Can Cause Depression

by Leon Titus

Although depression can be caused by several different things, often times it’s caused by eye/I problems. That’s right. From a spiritual perspective and point of view, it has to do with focusing on self. I don’t have this or that, I’m lonely, I’m hurt, I don’t feel loved, I’m not happy. IIIII. When we focus on ourselves all the time and the things we want, need or simply don’t have, depression can set in. It is spiritually and clinically proven that when people that are depressed start doing things for and start focusing on others, their depression often times becomes less or goes away all together. Of course, some types of depressions are very serious and require medicines; but often times we simply need to stop focusing on our own mishaps and start focusing on others problems and needs. I’m not saying that our own problems aren’t important or in-need of attention; I’m saying that, what we focus on controls us. Although years ago I had a temporary depression that did required medication, I also suffered depression from focusing on my wants or needs. I remember the day I walked into my church and told the pastor my mom had cancer. I expected him to say, “Awwwwwww, I’m so sorry! You must be so sad and miserable, and I feel sooo bad for you. “However, to my surprise, he said, “So you get a chance to serve?” I remember walking away thinking, didn’t he hear what I said. It wasn’t until years later that I understood what he was saying and why he said it. Because he was a man that always put others before himself, he received great joy by serving. He knew the benefits, rewarded and outcome by helping and serving others. So the moral of my story is, if you have eye/I problems, put your spiritual glasses on so you can see past your own difficulties and focus on others. When I started helping and serving others, I rarely found myself depressed. Trust me, you will feel better about yourself and people will want to be around you more. It’s a good thing all the way around.

Does the Bible Condemn Astrology? O

by Tim McGovern

ne of the most dangerous influences used today in modern society to affect people’s way of thinking is the misinterpretation of the Bible. The danger lies in using scripture to only support personal viewpoints, instead of researching fully the entire truth of a subject. So before reading the next few paragraphs, please take a moment to clear your head. Keep an open mind and ask yourself this question. Why did God create the planets, constellations, and stars? An important question was asked to me one day, “does the Bible condemn Astrology?” Anyone can Google that question and very easily find website after website that says yes. As a matter of fact, the first five sites will probably all say yes to that question. They will use passages such as Isaiah 47:13-14 and Deuteronomy 18:10-14 that quote how stargazers, observer of times, the monthly prognosticators and diviners were evil and an abomination to the Lord. However, are these being taking out of context? Let’s look at the passage of Deuteronomy 18. This is a perfect example of taking a passage out of context about divine inspiration. The passage says: Deuteronomy 18:10-15 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God. 14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. However, if we keep on reading the same passage, look at verse 15: 15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; Isn’t a prophet the same thing as a diviner? The difference is where the message is coming from. Any tool itself cannot be evil. It is the person or spirit wielding the tool that can make it evil or not. God used prophets or seers to send all kinds of different messages of God to the people. He also used dream interpreters such as Daniel to divine and predict the future as well. Seventeen of the 39 books in the Old Testament are called the “Prophetic Books” from Isaiah to Malachi. However, those people that called upon evil spirits to get these same types of “gifts,” are what made them evil. It was not the tools or the gifts themselves that were evil. In the first book of the Bible, the first chapter, the Bible tells us specifically why God made the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies. Genesis 1:14-18 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. November 2012  33

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. The “lights” (stars, constellations and planets) were for several things; but first and foremost, for SIGNS, then for seasons, and then for timekeeping (days and years). Most people have it the other way around, and say that it is truly only for timekeeping purposes. It also says that the two great lights ruled day and night. It’s interesting how in astrology the Sun and Moon sign of a person are the two most important aspects of a person’s birth chart, and personality. The sun sign is where the sun was when you were born and rules the logical and conscious side of you. Your moon sign is where the moon was when you were born and rules the emotional and subconscious drives. We also see, in the book of Job, God asking several questions regarding his majestic works to his humble servant. Job 38:31-33: 31 Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? 32 Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? 33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth? This says the celestial constellations like Pleiades and Orion have “influences.” The word Mazzaroth literally means the 12 signs of the zodiac. Many interpreters avoid interpreting that word because it means just that in Hebrew. God brings forth the signs of the zodiac in their seasons. And lastly, there are “ordinances of heaven” that rule or have dominion here on Earth. Celestial bodies influence us here on Earth, according to the Bible. We also see a correlation between the twelve signs of the zodiac with the twelve tribes of Israel. This is shown in Genesis 49 when Jacob blesses the tribes, and also again in Deuteronomy 33 when Moses performs his blessing. God ordered Moses to have the twelve tribes of Israel camp around the holy tabernacle in the order of the zodiac. The entrance to the camp had four gateways, Judea, Rueben, Ephraim, and Dan. These four tribes represented each a different element of the zodiac, earth, air, fire, and water. These four tribes also correlate to the vision that Ezekiel had in Ezekiel chapter 1 about the four animals and four elements. Another important aspect of astrology the Bible talks about is an Age. Astrologers and scientists both have never been able to determine exactly how long an age is, but it is approximately around 2,000 years. For us who have lived in this generation, we have had an extraordinary and unique opportunity. Not only have we experienced a cross over into a centennial year (every 100 years), and not just a millennial (1000 years, when 1999-2000 occurred) but also an AGE. I personally believe December 21, 2012 will be the end of the age we are in (the Age of Pisces) and the beginning of the new age, the Age of Aquarius! Many believe that God created Adam and Eve during the Age of Gemini, which some theorists have dated to be around 6380 BC. Since Gemini is the sign of writing, communication and travel, this is when communication and languages flourished. God spoke directly to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden before the fall of man, 34  Dream Codes Mag

and after the fall, that direct line was severed. So communication was the theme that ruled that age. Genesis chapter 11 tells of the story of the Tower of Babel and how many languages were formed. Some people have depicted the sign of the twins as Adam and Eve, the first two people created. Adam and Eve’s first children, Cain and Abel, are also believed to be twins. Abel was favored, and Cain was not, illustrating the two fold personality that Gemini represents. During this time in other Ancient religions, many people worshipped TWO gods instead of just one. It is interesting that Mercury is the first planet (closest to the Sun) in our solar system; Mercury is the ruling planet for Gemini and is known as the planet of communication and travel. Mercury is also known in Mythology as Hermes, the messenger of the gods. It is because the rotation of the Earth and the “wobble” affect that the Earth has (like a spinning top) that we progress through the ages backwards. So after the Age of Gemini, we entered the age of Taurus, the bull. Again, it is interesting that Venus, the second planet in our Solar System, is the ruling planet for Taurus. Hindu religion was formed during this time and to this day still clings to its cattle worship, from this age. As with the zodiac, each age influences the world and takes on certain aspects of influence of that zodiac sign. Since Taurus also rules the second house of the zodiac, the house of material possessions and values, we see many cultures that focused on material things, like the Egyptians for one. Even in their death rituals, Egyptians were buried with several valuable items to aid them in their life beyond the physical world. As an earth sign, the Age of Taurus was also an agricultural revolution where agriculture flourished. As the Age of Taurus gave way to the Age of Aries, bull sacrifices gave way to the sacrifice of the ram. The famous story of faith that Abraham demonstrated in Genesis 22 tells us the story of God providing a ram in the thicket, to replace Abraham’s son as a sacrifice. Also, the people of Israel were commanded to offer a burnt sacrifice of a ram without blemish, once a year as atonement for their sins. God was given a new name during this era and became known as Jehovah, the warrior god. This illustrated the epitome of the Aries sign: the warrior, mercenary, explorer, and leader. It was a militant time during this Age. Mars, the next planet after Earth, is the planet that rules Aries. Mars is also known as the planet of war, action, ambition and fiery energy. Are we seeing a pattern yet in the physical anatomy of our solar system? Before Neptune was discovered on September 23, 1846, Jupiter was said to be the ruling planet of Pisces, which just happens to be the next planet in our solar system’s alignment. The transition of the Age of Aries to the Age of Pisces was a significant one. This was around the time that Jesus was born. Jesus said in Revelation: 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end... As Jesus quotes in Revelation, Jesus linked the first sign of the zodiac (Aries) with the last sign of the Zodiac (Pisces), the beginning with the end, the Alpha and the Omega. In the previous age, fire (the element of Aries) was sacred and used in all sacrifices and burnt offerings. Now suddenly water became holy (the element of Pisces), and baptisms by water were introduced. Christianity became the most popular religion and has been for the past two thousand years. The symbol of Christianity is commonly known as the fish. Jesus called his disciples fishers of men. They were known for drawing fish in the sand. As the sign of Pisces is naturally romantic and creative, we have seen some of the most talented artists in the Age of Pisces: Da Vinci, Van Gough, Raphael, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Mozart, Beethoven, even Walt Disney who drew all of his first cartoons entirely by hand; and the list goes on and on. All of these people were blessed with natural talent of creating art, music, tales, etc. As we approach the Age of Aquarius, many things are now becoming digitalized and technological. Aquarius is the sign of revolution, freedom, innovation, and humanity. We are experiencing a new age of technology. Jesus November 2012  35

foretold of the Age of Aquarius in his gospels. Mark 14:13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. The man bearing the pitcher of water represents Aquarius, and what is to come. It is very evident that in the Bible, over and over, we see mentions of celestial bodies, signs, ages, the zodiac and their influences on our lives. Today, most people will tell you what I have just mentioned is heretical and blasphemy. The truth is people fear what they don’t understand, and will always try to discredit it. However, if we learn to research things fully for ourselves, ask questions, and trust our gut instinct, we will eventually find the truth for ourselves. This article may provoke you to make your own decision and decide if in fact the Bible does condemn Astrology. If you still believe the answer to be yes, we return to the original question: why did God create the planets, constellations, and stars?

Relax and let go with Meditation

Y

by SUZANNE TAYLOR

ou may think Meditation has to do with being ‘Holy’ or sitting in a funny pretzel position, Its not. Some reponses I get about meditation are; ‘Ohmmm’ or ‘My mind is too busy to shut off.’ Meditation is about relaxing and letting go, taking time out to quieten your mind of its constant thinking. It’s about focusing your mind on something. For example reading a book is a form of Meditation. With pracitse your Meditations will strenghten your ability to focus with harmonising effects on your body. When your mind is awake and your body is asleep your winning. Did you get a holiday this year? If yes you may have drifted away whilst sun bathing, you were meditating. It’s finding what type of meditation works best you, also how your feeling at the time may affect the type of meditation you do. If you did’nt manage a holiday then let your mind feel as if it has. How? Simply lie down (you may wish to grab a blanket as your temperature drops whilst meditating) OK imagine your on the beach visualizing the Sun, Sea, Sand, listening to the gentle flow of the waves feeling the sun re-energising your Chakra. Meditation has many benefits, such as reducing STRESS and ANXIETY. ‘Life can be stressful with work, bills, children the list is endless.’ Stress has major effects on your body and in women it causes more wrinkles, meditation is said to slow down the ageing process. Your focus and concentration may increase, which will enhance your creativity by opening the mind and allowing new ideas to flow. Some of the feedback I receive from clients is that their ESP (extra sensory perception) has developed, and that they now feel more aware of the positive and negative things going on around them, and that this change is noticeable in the way that they are starting to deal with situations differently. Meditation brings mind, body and soul into balance. Taking time out to meditate will not mean you accomplish less in fact, you accomplish more in your activities as you will have greater clarity of mind more energy and better focus.

Meditation for Focusing

Focusing on an object helps you calm and centre yourself and stabilizes your mind. The purpose of this technique is to quieten the mind from it’s constant thinking. You may find this technique difficult if your mind is constantly thinking. This will become easier with practise. Choose an object you wish to focus on, this can be external or internal. If you are easily distracted then choose an external object, such as a picture of an Angel, or a flower. When I choose to do this meditation at home or with my group, I like to work with a candle. Internally you may choose to focus on your heartbeat or your breath. This meditation technique should be practised for about 15-30 minutes everyday. When you focus on the object you have choosen to work with, carefully scan the object. Take notice of the detail, or colours in the picture. When working with candles, do not leave them unattended. November 2012  37

Thought Process

Eventually through practise your thought process will begin to slow down. For example your first meditation you might find every five seconds your thoughts intervene, and when they do, without analysing them, let them go. Through practise the gap will eventually become bigger, and when you have had no external thoughts intervene for at least five minutes, you’re winning. Watching your breath is one of the simplest of all meditations, and is said to be the most powerful and rewarding. Buddhists meditate in this way to tame uncontrolled thinking, reduce negative thoughts and actions, and gain an understanding of spiritual truths. Meditating on the breath has a calming influence on your body and mind, which will help reduce anxiety, and lower your heart rate and blood pressure.

Breath Meditation...

This should be practised 15 – 30 minutes, twice a day. Firstly sit on a chair, or sit cross legged on a cushion with your bottom slightly raised, maintain a good posture by, keeping your spine straight, and shoulders parallel, head slightly tilted, looking at the floor. This meditation should be done with your eyes open, as this will stop the mind from wondering. Breathe normally through your nose, using your abdomen rather than your chest. Begin counting your breath on each exhalation; when you reach ten, begin again. Thoughts will intervene and when they do, simply let them go and return to counting your breath.

Keeping a diary Taking note, and writing down your experience after each meditation will help with your spiritual growth. You may want to write down how long your meditation lasted, and also the thoughts that interevened throughout your meditation. This will give you a clear understanding of what’s going on, in the inside. Focusing on your inner-self with help you attain a better balance over your emotions.

by Leon Titus

here’s nothing like an evening stroll through a beautiful old cemetery. In my hometown in eastern Iowa, we have several very large old cemeteries with lots of trees. In the late afternoon, you will see scores of people walking through them talking about the dates on the headstones and simply enjoying the beauty and peaceful feelings that surrounds them. Yet, as the evening turns into night, the graveyard becomes empty and even more quiet and peaceful. That’s because the people leave the cemeteries before the sun goes down. Even though a cemetery may be a place of beauty in the day, no one wants to be in a graveyard after dark. After all, isn’t that whenthe spooks come out? Well, regardless of what you may have seen in the Thriller video or in some Hollywood movie, there are no zombies walking around in graveyards under a full-moon after dark. In fact, most graveyards aren’t even haunted. People seem to think that just because there are hundreds of lifeless bodies, 6ft in the ground on ten acres of land, it has to be haunted. However, most of the time, this is not the case. I have studied the paranormal for many years, and I have been on many ghost hunts. One of the first things I learned was, few ghost have any reason to go to, or hang around a cemetery. I’m not saying there are no graveyard ghosts; I’m just saying that there aren’t as many as you may think. Most people that stay around after death as a ghost usually stay in one place. That place is usually the place where they died, or a place that meant a lot to them while still alive. Few ghosts want, or need, to live in a graveyard. Yet, now and then you will come across a spooky old graveyard with rumors of lights and apparitions being seen, or voices being heard after dark. So then why would a cemetery be haunted at all? Few people die in a graveyard, and there’s really not much action going on there. It’s because ghosts that haunt cemeteries are only there for a good reason. Most ghosts in graveyards are looking for something or someone. Ghosts are often times very confused; they may suspect they are dead, yet are not

November 2012  39

sure about it. They may go to their family cemetery looking for their own grave. Again, depending on the mindset of the deceased, they may have lost a child in real life, and could be trying to find the grave, or their child’s spirit. It’s well known in the paranormal community that ghosts can often times be confused, yet a lot depends on the way the deceased died, along with their mind set at the time of death. If they passed away in their sleep, death could seem as a dream to them. If they died suddenly, they may be trying to grasp why no one can see or hear them. If they were drinking strong drink before death, they may not even suspected they have passed away. So the next time you go on a paranormal investigation, a cemetery may not be the most active place to hunt. However, a friend of mine did tell me about something he saw while looking out the window of his house next to a cemetery. He said he was simply looking out of the window, when he saw a round orb of light come down from the sky. It stopped over the top of a grave, circled it a few times, and went back up. I also saw on the TV show, My Ghost Story, a lady that went to a graveyard which she heard was haunted, to get paranormal evidence. She set her voice recorder down on a tombstone and walked away, hoping to capture a voice. When she returned to the grave, her recorder was gone. Another thing that could cause a cemetery to be haunted is the history of the land itself. It may have been a place of ancient worship, a place where people lived and died, or even a place of harnessed energy as in something tragic that happened long ago. The earth has been around for a long time. A lot of things may have happened on that ground 100s or even 1000s of years ago. Written history can only take us back, just so far; so the possibilities are endless. One other thing to remember is, energy shifts and ghosts do move around now and then, of course a lot depends on the deceased. Believe it or not, some ghosts do travel. I’ve seen this happen in homes. A friend of mine put up a house on land where cornfields use to be. All was good until a while back. Suddenly she had a ghost. Good for her it only stuck around for a couple months before moving on. So as we see, graveyards can be haunted; yet it may be hard to tell where the feelings and noises are coming from. It could simply a residual haunting; the left over energy caused by something that happened long ago, or a sudden tragedy. This happens a lot in haunted houses; it’s the same apparition doing the same thing over and over, day after day, and night after night. The spirit of that person may not even be there; it’s just left over energy, like the negative of a picture, like the smell of a fire; the fire may be gone but it takes time for the smell to dissipate. It’s like an imprint on the environment in that area. Never the less, the next time you take a stroll through the cemetery on a beautiful autumn night; there’s no reason to be afraid. Remember, ghosts are people too.

Crafty Basics

itchcraft.

There it is, I’ve said it. But what does it really mean? Well firstly, let’s begin with what it doesn’t mean…

* It is not a group of women, scantly clad, dancing around a fire under the full moon. * It is not dressing up in black clothes, covered in warts, stirring toads legs and puppy dogs tails in a pot of boiling water. * It is not going around casting curses on everyone who even remotely upsets you. * It is not worshipping any entity known as the Devil. * It does NOT involve ANY mandatory sexual practices. So, if it’s none of the above, then what the heck is it? It is many things. It is the Land (Earth), the Sky (Air), the Sun (Fire), the Sea (Water), the Subconscious and the Consciousness (Spirit). It is how we treat each other, and how we choose to react to situations, for how we react defines which kind of energy we give back, which in turn, defines the outcome. I guess that word better describes what true Witchcraft and Magic are: Energy! There are many different types of Witchcraft practiced throughout the world, and no two practitioners will hold the exact same beliefs. Some people who practice the art will insist that you need to have every tool under the Sun to perform powerful magic, others, like me, will suggest that all you need to create magic is simply yourself and genuine intent behind what you need (whether Spiritual, Emotional or Physical). A line that I like is this, “Those who NEED the tools, should not be using them; those who do not need the tools, should feel free to use them if they wish.” Another example of our vast differences, would be our views on the God energy. Some like to worship simply ‘The God and The Goddess’ (Often portrayed as the Sun depicting the God, and the Moon depicting the Goddess), whereas others like to worship a full pantheon of Gods, either Greek, Roman, Celtic, Egyptian etc. There are a few who pick and choose God’s and Goddess’ from any pantheon they like, dependent on their suitability for the task. Then there are yet a further few who see the God energy as exactly that…energy. The energy view is the one that I personally hold myself, although in the past I have linked myself to all of the above beliefs in God, and I am now finding that I feel happiest with the God Energy. It is my belief that this God Energy can show itself in whatever form it chooses depending on which form is most appropriate for the situation. The Energy may show itself to you in a more dramatic way such as during meditation or dreams as an All-Powerful God/Goddess, or it could be much more subtle than that, and it could be the feeling you get when you see a certain person or object and think to yourself “Hmmm, I think I might have a look at this for some reason”, and that reason would be that the Universe is trying to send you a message. It is not down to the Universe to make you see,

instead, it is down to you to Open Your Eyes and begin to search for the signs yourself. Witchcraft is a nature religion/way of life. We respect our planet, it’s delicate eco-system, and all naturally occurring life-forms living within it. By ‘naturally occurring life-forms’, I mean things like animals, plants, and people (regardless of where in the world they are from, what their beliefs are, etc.). That respect means that we never try to push our ways and beliefs onto anyone else, we may share our knowledge with others so that they are able to better understand us, but we do not try to coerce anyone into our ways. The path of true Witchcraft must be chosen by an individual on their own, and not begun purely because ones spouse or friend has convinced them that it is a good idea. I will now give some examples of the types of things that people who practice Witchcraft may be interested in, and also explain a little about that area. However, it is important to remember that just because the following are examples of the types of thing that Witches may be interested in, that does NOT mean that all those who are interested in these subjects are automatically into Witchcraft. Also, with that same thought, Witches may not necessarily be interested in all of the following areas of knowledge either. Astrology Astrology is the observation of the stars and planets to better understand their influences and therefore, to be able to work in accordance with them so that our lives may be more balanced and harmonious with the Universe. (I’ll let one of our other writers, Tim, take you through the wonders of Astrology - He’s a genius with interpreting the many movements and influences of the handful of planets in our solar system!) Divination Divination is the art of telling the future. This may be done in a number of ways, from using Tarot Cards, Pendulums, I-Ching, Runes, Observation of Birds, Scrying, Palmistry, Psychometry, etc. Dreams Dreams play an important part in our lives as they are not only able to carry important messages from our subconscious into our conscious, they occasionally allow for contact to be made with the other planes of existence, such as contact with those who have passed over. Some people can even receive precognitive dreams which are often called Premonitions. There are also Lucid Dreams, which is where you become conscious within the dream, and can sometimes be likened to having an out-of-body experience whilst you’re asleep. (These areas are best learnt about from Leon, one of our other writers, he is truly gifted in deciphering the codes of dreams!) Healing There are many ways to heal and many different levels in which healing can be done. Some examples include; Reiki healing, Crystal Healing, Energy Work, and Herbal Remedies. (Our writer, Suzanne, is the one to look to for guidance in this area. She is a very talented spiritual healer!) Herbology The study and practice of the uses of herbs and plants to be of benefit either mundanely, such as for medicinal purposes, or magically, such as for inducing a trance state to procure visions. Hermetic Principles The Hermetic Principles are a set of seven principles which govern the Universe. The principles are: The Principle of Mentalism, The Principle of Correspondence, The Principle of Vibration, The Principle of Polarity, The Principle of Rhythm, The Principle of Gender, and The Principle of Cause and Effect. Past Lives Past lives can influence our current lives, either by way of karmic lesson or, by giving us a fear of something which may not have been triggered by any logical experience in this lifetime. Many people wish to delve into their past life experiences in order to better progress in their current life. Some ways to do this are via either Past Life Regression, which uses hypnosis to place a person in a trance like state where they are then able to recall their past lives, or via dreams which place us in a familiar place that we could not possibly be ‘remembering’ from this life, as they are often set in different eras or in different countries, speaking different languages etc.

Psychic Development Covers a wide range of things, including, sharpening the Intuition, enhancing skills of Empathy, and developing Telepathy. Spells When it comes to working Energy, or Spells as they are so often called, it is all about the practitioners intent. If you have a pure reason for working it, such as protecting a person from someone who wishes them harm, or for healing someone who is sick, then the energy you are working will be positive and good also. On the contrary, if you have a tainted reason for working energy, such as wanting to make a specific person fall in love with you, or sending out a curse because that guy at work got the promotion first, then you are working with negative energy and you will most probably find that the situation backfires on you sooner or later and that the energy you sent out has turned into something of its own manifestation of which you have no control over. This energy reverberation can happen within a few minutes of casting, or it can draw itself out and come back on you after many years. It also applies to any good working that you create. Extra Info - If you are working energy for someone else, such as healing, it is ALWAYS important that you have the permission of the person you wish to cast for first. - Casting for love is a highly controversial subject because it can go wrong in so many different ways. My only comment is that if you are really that lonely that you feel that you no longer have a choice but to cast, do a general casting, meaning that you do not wish for a specific person that you know, but instead are asking the Universal Energy to draw you to the one that best fits all that you are asking for, and will also take into account the best needs of the person it is drawing you toward. Whereas casting for a person that you know is messing with their free-will. Even if you try to vocally cast for a person in general and yet have it in your heart that you want a specific person, the message from your heart will come through louder than that of your voice, and then you have interfered in another persons life without them choosing it, and this can have dire consequences down the line. Let’s face it, even if it’s worked out for 10years, you’ll still never be sure if they genuinely wanted to be with you or if it is all just your own energy convincing them that they can’t be without you…and that really is the best case scenario! - When speaking of the energy you put out coming back to you, this is not a reflection on the Wiccan threefold law of ‘An it harm none, so mote it be’, but instead a comparison to the Law of Rhythm as seen in the Hermetic Principles, which I will discuss in another article. Spirit Communication There are many ways to go about communicating with the Spirit World, ranging from Clairvoyance, to Automatic Writing. This must be done with great respect and care for that which you are dealing with. Not for the faint hearted or the dabbler. (Again, this area can be better learnt about in depth from our writer Suzanne, who works with the Spirit world to contact Spirit Guides and Angels.) It is also important to note that as with food, culture has a massive impact on the type of Witchcraft being practiced, so depending on where you go in the world, this may or may not be an accurate representation of Witchcraft. As with any religion or way of life out there, you are bound to find dark corners which are best left alone, but on the whole, the Pagan community and those who practice, are usually very grounded people who care very deeply about others and about nature. So there we have it. A very brief outline of what Witchcraft really is. It is not a complete representation as there are a multitude of different paths and ways in which the Craft can be used, but this article covers solely the basics. Over the coming months, I will discuss some of the areas more deeply with topics including: The Morals and Ethics Of Witchcraft, How To Utilize Divination Techniques, and also a glimpse into the many different paths that the Craft can take you down, amongst many other things. If you have an area or an issue you would like me to discuss specifically, please feel free to send your request to the magazine and I will do my best to include it in an issue for you.

THAT LITTLE VOICE

by Dennis Dye

C

all it a “Hunch”, a “gut feeling”, an instinct, intuition, or E.S.P.

We have all heard it at some time in our lives, and no matter what we call it, we cannot deny that it is absolutely personal, It seems to come from within us and from outside of us at the same time. It can be as heavy as hammer hitting solid oak, or as gentle as a whisper on a feather. It is unmistakably clear and perfectly timed. Where does this voice come from, God, our subconscious, a guardian angel, perhaps our future selves? And why does it choose to help or direct us with detailed foresight? It is not something that is separate from us, although we may feel that it is. It is something that is within us. It transcends religions, races, and cultures. I speak, of course, about that, “little voice,” that seems to lend itself to our direction as we are scurring through our lives. A few weeks ago , as I was taking my beloved border collie for a walk through a field decided , to go further into the woods and have a look around. There are basically two trails leading into the woods . One goes to the right the other to the left. As I approached the starting point of both paths an (axis’ point), I thought to myself, “I haven’t found a nice feather in a long time”, (for my dream catcher), and right then…in that exact moment, the little voice spoke saying, “Go to the left.” In less than ten seconds, and fewer than ten steps , what do I see lying in the weeds? Yep, a perfect ten inch hawk feather. I stood before it in suspended animation. I looked at in amazement then looked up at the sky. It was if the Universe had responded to my thought instantly. I felt like a firefly in the Milky Way…I was part of all of this. Connected. I continued walking, feather in hand, and I was retracing my thought which had led up to finding the feather. “I was thinking, I haven’t found a nice feather in a long time and then I heard the voice that said, go to the left, my next thought was, do not hesitate just do it. I simply obeyed.” As I came out of the woods on the path that led to the right, my pooch shot off after a small creature, and I started to call her back, but then the little voice spoke again, “Follow her.” Two steps into the trees, there lying in the leaves, is another hawk feather. The mathematical possibilities alone must be staggering. Okay, so I found a couple of hawk feathers, big wow, right? No... It is much more than that. Those feathers represent a care and attention sent from a place beyond this physical realm. They represent the very personalized touch of a greater consciousness.

Okay, so they are still just feathers, but, what if I had been thinking, “Ya know, I haven’t found a treasure chest full of gold lately?” Maybe I did. So, there you go a personal story of when I obey the ‘little voice’. Here is another personal story of when I chose not to. A few years ago, as I was planning to drive to sunny Florida for a week or two, I drove into a parking lot of a large chain store. I had everything packed and ready to go for the morning except for 35 millimeter film. (I said it was a few years ago.) As I pulled into the parking lot and began to pull in between the yellow parking lines, the ‘little voice’ clearly said, “Don’t park here.” I pressed the brake and stopped half way in the space. I looked around. “What? Why?” and then I continued to pull into the space. Again…”Don’t park here.” I put the car in park and shut the engine off. As I pulled the key out and began to open the door, again I hear, “Don’t park here.” Yes, I parked there. I went into the store and bought my film, then exited the store and headed back out to my car. (A van.) I got in and started the engine and I noticed that I could hear the sound of traffic coming from the road. I thought, “I must have left the passengers side window down.” That is when I first noticed thousand s of shards of glass laying all over the interior. A hole as large as football had been shot through the large window behind the passenger’s seat. “Don’t park here!” Someone had shot the window out either by accident or intent, I do not know, but needless to say, I was going to be a little late for sunny Florida. But, there is more to this than that. Let’s say that I had obeyed the ‘little voice’, and had selected another parking spot, I go into the store and buy my film, and get back into the van and drive home. Not much of story right? In fact, if I told it to you, the only response would probably be something like this, “Very interesting story, Den. Thank you for sharing it. Hey, I have an appointment with reality in a few minutes. “I gotta go now, but here is a number for a physiatrist.” Wherever this ‘little voice’ comes from and why, is something that remains a mystery. All I really know is…it is better to find two feathers while walking, than to drive with broken glass. DenBear

by Tim McGovern

hat lies beneath the most mysterious and deepest sign of the zodiac for this month? The intriguing, but ever so secretive sign of Scorpio has many facets to its personality. Before Pluto was discovered in February 18, 1930, Mars was the ruling planet of Scorpio. After this date, Pluto became its the ruling planet. As recent as six years ago, many scientists are no longer considering Pluto a planet, but Astrologers still do. Being so far away from the Sun, Pluto describes the personality of Scorpio as deep. Their emotions can be likened to like the depth of the ocean. It is a water sign (feminine/yin) and therefore they are naturally emotional, and intuitive; but rarely will you know 100% what a Scorpio is feeling, as they can be very secretive. Pluto, the ruling planet, is known as the planet of power. The karmic lesson for Scorpio is choosing between the power of love, or the love of power. Even a shy Scorpio has an immense presence in any room, and most Scorpios are known by their intense stare. Many people only associate the sign with the animal scorpion. However, Scorpio has three animals that represent the sign of Scorpio: the scorpion, the eagle and the Phoenix. Scorpios have three levels of spiritual evolvement and usually experience all three of these levels at some time in their life. Sometimes they can experience these out of sequence. The scorpion is the earth bound creature that crawls close to the ground and is the lowest of the spiritual evolvement. All Scorpios start here. As the scorpion is earthly, hides in corners, and strikes when it feels attacked, likewise, this level of evolvement is purely physical, secretive, and can easily be offended, as well as vindictive and revengeful. The reputation of the Scorpio that is somewhat negative, comes from those who are scorpions and can take on more of these traits. The Eagle is mentioned in the Bible as one of the four creatures and elements in Ezekiel chapter 1 verse 10, as well as the four beasts that appear before the throne in Revelation. Revelation 4:7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. The four beasts represent the four elements of the zodiac. The man is Aquarius, of the element of Air. The lion is Leo, and fire. The calf/ox is Taurus, representing earth. And the flying eagle is Scorpio, the water sign. The eagle Scorpio is one who is able to turn negative things in their life into positive and soar high above their problems. They are successful, entrepreneurial, and fly over their adversity. Like the eagle, they will have razor sharp eyesight to the things below and seek its prey when it wants, not only lash out when it is attacked. 48 ďƒ Dream Codes Mag

In nature, eagles can see up to 4 times better than humans and can see up to a mile away very keenly. Likewise, Scorpio eagles have a razor sharp gift for observation and intuitiveness. The highest level of evolvement for Scorpio is the Phoenix. The legend of the Phoenix bird is one of transformation. It flies higher into the sky than an eagle, reaching into the universe and even into the sun and is characterized as the eagle engulfed in flames. The Phoenix is said to live up to 500 years. It then creates its nest, where it engulfs itself in fiery flames and burns to ashes. It does this only to be recreated into a new Phoenix and rise up from the ashes, as a completely new, but evolved creature. Scorpio rules the 8th house of the zodiac which is the house of wealth, sex, life and death. Since they rule the house of life and death, there is always a side of Scorpio that looks below the depth of any situation. Also, this means that for any Scorpio to achieve true balance in their life, they should explore the spiritual side of themselves. A Scorpio Phoenix, is one who has experienced “death” (not necessarily in the literal sense) and a rebirth of some sort that causes them to evolve to a higher state of consciousness, or spirituality. The transformation that the Phoenix goes through is similar to many people’s spiritual journey. Before a spiritual awakening, many people go through what is considered the ‘death” stage. It could be a time of troublesome trials, hitting an all time low, where a side of them has to die. Those who are spiritually adept can allow this change to occur knowing that before something new can be reborn, something has to die. Others experience it in a very powerful way, through some kind of loss, separation, heartache, or pain. If we can understand this particular stage and know that it is happening for a reason, we can allow transformation to set in. Change is like changing your clothes, but transformation is like changing your skin color! It is a fundamental, permanent, life altering change that has profound significance in our life and forces us to become a much better person, the person we were meant to be. If you haven’t noticed yet, we are in a time of spiritual awakening. During this time, you might have already experienced this stage of death and may be wondering, why is this happening? Just remember, like the Phoenix, regardless if you are a Scorpio or not, you too can rise up from the ashes of your despair, and become an entirely new creature… one that is evolved, magnificient, and powerful. When you find yourself on this path that symbolizes your spiritual awakening, explore your spirituality and seek the deeper meaning in your life. By doing so, you may find your inner Phoenix that can take you high above your current challenges as a new creature with a brand new perspective. The unknown is only a source of anxiety when we seek to evade it. However, if we are up for the challenge, it could become our source of empowerment for the future.
