DELTA PHI UPSILON FRATERNITY CELEBRATES 26 ANNIVERSARY OF FOUNDING

Houston, TX – 1/10/2011 – On Saturday, January 15 , 2011, the Brothers of Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Incorporated will celebrate Founder’s Day, marking the 26th anniversary of its founding. Delta Phi Upsilon chapters, colonies, regions and members throughout the country will be joining in this commemoration of 26 years of service and fraternity. In celebration of its founding, Delta Phi Upsilon has adopted the theme “Celebrating the Beginning of Excellence,” which focuses on the organization’s 26-year journey. In an address to the membership, National President Larrel A. Green called on his Brothers to “renew the dedication to the ideals espoused by our Founder that we all proudly displayed upon initiation.” President Green went on to remind his members that while they can be proud of the fraternity’s history and its achievements, they must work diligently to ensure that those achievements are the “tangible results” of a creative and structured program of service. st
Mr. Green officially declared January 10-14 as Delta Phi Upsilon’s 1 Annual Founders Week. As part of its Founders Week program, the fraternity and its entities will participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service th on January 17 , a day which has also been designated as “Red and Gold” Day for the members of the fraternity. Delta Phi Upsilon Fraternity, Incorporated (DPhiU) is a national service organization that was founded on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL in 1985. It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by gay men of color. It is comprised of 300+ members in city chapters in five regions across the United States. Its membership includes gay men who exemplify its motto of “Service to our Kind,” through academic excellence, certified leadership skills, and who are consistently involved in creating change in the global community through the programs of service embodied in the fraternity’s national program goals. Through its core mission, Delta Phi Upsilon has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life for its members and those it serves. The organization is led by its 5th National President Larrel A.
