The illustrator and graphic designer, Pep Boatella was born in 1983. From an early age, he spent most of his free time drawing his favourite comic cartoons and both fantastic and horror film characters. Due to his crescent and defined vocation, Pep decided to take the Artistic Baccalaureate that would allow him to access the Advanced Vocational Training course in Illustration in Escola Massana, one of the most popular art and design schools in Barcelona. There he became specially interested in illustration for publishing industry and published his first drawings. From then on, he has worked on wide range of commissions and has contributed to different magazines, agencies and publishing companies. Thanks to his love for traditional process, he pays a lot of attention to each step, from the sketches to the final art, and always keen on incorporating the imperfections or accidents found during the creative process. He mixes inks, natural textures and watercolors with digital techniques, trying always to keep an eye on all kind of details and a strong sense for composition. He injects his personal signature into any project or creation due to his diversity on different styles, ranging from illustrations for children books, adult audiences to press articles.  Strongly influenced by music, he deals with illustration as a magic process, creating a whole world from his studio in Barcelona.

My photography stems straight from my purpose, to record the essence of my two boys growing up together. The light, the moments, the expressions and feelings. They are always changing, making my life richer. The images that I feel are them at their best, just playing, pretending, jumping - being themselves, enjoying the enchantment and freedom of childhood, are the ones that make my heart full. I try to convey the level of imagination and energy I see in them when taking the picture. It happens sometimes, that the image and moment merge so beautifully. When this happens, I am over the moon. To pour and bottle that cherished instant into an image that is worthy and as memorable as the moment. Shooting from my heart in a way that is animated, real, whimsical, honest and storytelling.

NELLI HUIE - a collection -

www.nellihuie.com Nelli became interested in photography after a number of years in her late teens in front of the camera as a model. She found herself far more interested in what the photographers were doing behind the camera than what she was doing in front of it, and so she picked up an old Minolta x-700 and a few rolls of Ilford FP4 film, and began building an aesthetic she still retains to this day. A self-taught photographer with a natural flair for technical lighting configurations, connecting with her subjects, and thinking outside the box, Nelli’s signature style evokes Old Hollywood glamour with a slick modern overtone. Her dark yet glossy style has been sought out by some of the biggest names in burlesque, and she has photographed everyone from agency models to musical artists such as Nickelback and The Veronicas, both in Australia and overseas. Nelli’s work is frequently found in playbills for theatre and performing arts advertising campaigns, and she has had her work published in both Australian and international magazines, and exhibited in several states across Australia.

DAN GRANT - cyborg model: Mercedes Roberts model: Daniel Lonick make up: Bronwyn Gillespie

Dan Grant prides himself on creative art photography. This shoot was no exception. The motivation behind these photographs was based on robots and cyborgs. We wanted to create a look that hasn’t been seen before; humans and machine coming together as one. The photographer, Dan Grant, and the makeup artist, Bronwyn Gillespie, used everyday materials such as glue, paint and cling wrap to create this unique look. We wanted the cyborgs to look like they were in production. The models, Mercedes Roberts and Daniel Lonick had the perfect look for the job and were really fun to work with.

ALF CARUANA www.alfcaruana.com.au model: Yaroslavna Martens make up and body paint: Alejandrina De La Rosa headpiece: Alejandrina De La Rosa

This Concept came about after watching a digitized version of an old time favorite movie Metropolis. Its a German Expressionist science-fiction silent movie filmed in 1927. The movie is visually so powerful, it influenced many designers, to this day – such as Karl Lagerfeld, inspired later science fiction movies and television including C3PO from Star Wars and the Cybermen from Doctor Who The Body paint was designed to accentuate the bold geometry of Yaroslavna’s body shaping her in a robotic like figure. Artist Alejandrina De La Rosa created the headpiece which produced a wonderful effect with movement while lighting gels set the scene for a futuristic style.
