1 Quality by Design PAG uses only the highest quality components in the construction of its batteries. Safety, reliability, and durability are the prime concerns, from conception to final assembly.
2 Branded Cells PAG uses premium grade branded cells, which have been extensively tested to ensure excellent cycle life and capacity. High-quality, branded Li-Ion cells are a vital prerequisite to the creation of a safe Li-Ion battery. Poor quality cells may develop internal shorts, or their electrolyte may be contaminated, giving rise to further problems. Unfortunately, PAG has discovered that this kind of low-quality cell is being used in batteries that are branded as professional broadcast products. The name PAG on a battery is an asurance that only high-quality cells and materials have been used in its construction.
3 No Cell-Imbalance The low-resistance inter-cell nickel strapping and cell layout are constructed to optimize current sharing, reducing one of the common causes of cell-imbalance, and prolonging battery life.
4 Electronic Protection PAG Li-Ion batteries have a higher safety standard than those of other manufacturers. PAG’s electronic protection system guards against: over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-charge, over-discharge, over-temperature, under-temperature and inappropriate charge sources. Each protection feature has at least one back-up.
5 Protected Circuits The internal circuits of PAG Li-Ion batteries are coated with Parylene, the premier conformal coating, to protect circuits against the results of severe mechanical abuse to the cell pack, by making them electrolyte resistant. From a safety viewpoint PAG believes this coating to be an essential additional level of protection, and yet PAG is the only manufacturer that protects its batteries in this way.
6 Charged for Longer Life The key to extended battery life lies in the charging. PAG chargers are the most advanced available. The software that controls the charging process was developed by PAG after years of extensive research, and continues to evolve as new cell-chemistries become available. To ensure the longest possible cycle life PAG batteries should always be charged with the appropriate PAG charger. When protected from abusive charging practices PAG L95 Time Batteries have an average life of 3 years, and are guaranteed for 2 years (see Chargers, Pages 12 to 14).
7 Protective Cases High-impact, injection-moulded polycarbonate, or medium impact ABS cases are used, which incorporate integral cradles for protection of the cell-pack, and non-slip external features for secure handling.

8 Capacity Indication PAG’s battery capacity indication technology is unsurpassed. The PAG Power & Time Display is the industry’s most accurate run-time display (see Page 5) and one of the great advantages of the PAG L95 Time Battery. The unique 5 LED Power & Time Circle incorporated in the low-cost PAG L95e battery also provides a run-time indication on-load (see Page 4).
9 RF Resistance PAG Li-Ion batteries have built-in RF resistance to prevent shut-down in the field when used in close proximity to radio transceivers.
10 United Nations Testing It is a legal requirement of air transport and civil aviation authorities that Li-Ion batteries be independently tested to comply with United Nations regulations, before they can be certified ‘air safe’. Regulations exist because poorly constructed Li-Ion batteries have been known to break down internally and self-ignite. PAG Li-Ion batteries are tested and certified to comply with United Nations specifications. Each unique Li-Ion battery assembly is issued with a test report number. You should always ask the battery manufacturer for a test report number that relates to the cell-pack assembly, and not just the individual cells.
11 Service Support A PAG customer is able to call upon expert technical advice and a full back-up service throughout a product’s lifetime. The quality of service that PAG provides is one of the main reasons why broadcast organisations choose PAG (see Page 1).
12 Recelling Instead of recelling your battery, PAG offers UK customers a substantial discount (25%) on the price of a new battery of equivalent or greater specification, including a full warranty. A cell replacement, by a company other than PAG, is a false economy. It degrades the build standard of the product and leaves you with a battery of dubious quality, and a potential safety concern.
13 Recycling PAG provides a recycling service for all of its expired batteries. Simply return your batteries by prior arrangement to your PAG Agent, or to PAG Ltd. London. This ensures that the materials involved in their manufacture are recovered for future use, where possible, or disposed of in accordance with the appropriate legislation.

Switch to a high-quality Li-Ion battery system for less. Low-Cost Li-Ion Although relatively low in cost, compared to the cameras they power, high-quality Li-Ion battery systems can appear expensive when compared to some of the cheaper options available. However, low-quality Li-Ion batteries can fail within a year, and provide poor value for money. For this reason PAG has introduced a highly economic Li-Ion battery that maintains the high quality and safety standards for which PAG is renowned. Power & Time Circle The PAG L95e is ideal for those who require the benefits of a Li-Ion system but not the highly accurate run-time information provided by the PAG Time Battery (see Page 5). The L95e incorporates a new display, the PAG Power & Time Circle. It displays charge status in terms of percentage, using 5 LEDs. Each LED represents approximately 20% of available capacity. When the battery is on-load the display will also provide an estimate of remaining runtime. It uses the 5 LEDs to indicate the remaining hours and minutes. Compatibility PAG provides the new L95e Li-Ion battery in PAGlok and V-Mount compatible formats.
Capacity in the Viewfinder The V-Mount L95e, when used to power certain Sony cameras, will provide a percentage display of available capacity in the camera viewfinder. Longer Cycle Life PAG has incorporated many levels of protection within the L95e to ensure that it is one of the safest Li-Ion batteries available. These features help prevent the damaging processes that reduce capacity, and in combination with proprietary charging techniques, ensure a longer battery cycle life. PAG is able to offer an impressive warranty of 18 months on the new L95e.

The PAG L95e incorporates quality branded cells, and an internal protection circuit coated with Parylene to protect against the results of severe abuse to the cell pack. No Service Charge The new 5 LED display maintains its level of accuracy after repeated partial discharge cycles, and the battery does not require a periodic 'service charge' to re-establish accuracy. Self-Recovery If the battery has been shut down by its protection circuit it can be recovered by simply removing it

Why Li-Ion? Li-Ion cell technology possesses a high capacity to weight ratio which makes it particularly well-suited to
powering the latest professional broadcast cameras. PAG Li-Ion Time Batteries utilise advanced, high-quality cell technology, which provides increased run-time for a camera and light up to 35W.
One of the great advantages of PAG’s Li-Ion Time Battery is the PAG Power & Time Display. This built-in capacity indication and run-time display was designed and developed by PAG at a time when a 4 or 5 LED ‘fuel-guage’ was the best available. PAG’s revolutionary display provides a prediction of equipment run-time, on-load, that is continually updated and accurate to the minute. The battery’s internal processor achieves this taking into account the changes of load that occur during use, the charge status and condition of the cells, and the ambient temperature. PAG’s display was the first to achieve this. No other capacity indication device displays equipment run-time this accurately. The Power & Time Display uses an easy-to-read digital character format, and displays remaining run-time on-load, at the press of a button; hours are displayed first, followed by minutes.
Two batteries will provide enough power for a day’s shooting with most camera and lighting set-ups. PAG Li-Ion batteries are compact and can be transported easily in your camera bag. Li-Ion batteries
do not self-discharge as quickly as other cell technologies and can be partially charged and discharged without causing long term problems.

The Industry’s most sophisticated batteries. Higher Capacities Todays power-hungry cameras require high capacity batteries. The PAG L95 is a 14.8V 6.5Ah battery that packs 95 watt-hours of power. It will run a camera that consumes 24W for almost 4 hours. When longer run-times are required there is the PAG L110, a 14.8V 7.5Ah 110 watt-hour pack. The PAG L110 is the same size as the L95 and shares the same impactresistant casing and advanced internal features. Both models
incorporate the unique PAG Power & Time Display, which shows remaining run-time, on-load. One Battery, All Systems Both the L95 and the L110 are available in models that are compatible with the three most popular mounting systems: > PAGlok > V-Mount (Sony) > Snap-on (Anton-Bauer) PAG is the only manufacturer that offers its premier Li-Ion battery in three formats.
Combined Capacities The capacities of two PAG Li-Ion batteries, PAGlok or V-Mount, L95 or L110, can be combined to provide a higher current draw capability, and even longer run-times, by using the PAG Power Plate. The Power Plate is available with a choice of connector, making it a system converter as well as a power multiplier. The high current-draw capability is ideal for powering highdefinition camcorders and a camera light. Using two Li-Ion batteries to
share the load and achieve a larger, combined capacity ensures that you discharge the battery at a lesser rate (see Page 17).
PAG Time Batteries are compatible with all systems. Quality Cells Quality branded cells, such as those utilised by PAG, are a vital prerequisite to the creation of a safe Li-Ion battery. Electronic Protection PAG has incorporated a sophisticated electronic protection system within its Li-Ion batteries to guard against abusive practices that could reduce battery life. The system is in turn protected with Parylene, the premier conformal coating. Longer Lasting Li-Ion The protection built into PAG Li-Ion batteries prevents the damaging processes that reduce capacity; this, combined with proprietary charging techniques, ensures a longer battery cycle life.
PAG guarantees its L95 and L110 Time Batteries for 2 YEARS. The average life of an L95 battery is 3 years. When you compare this to lower quality imported options, which have been known to fail within
a year, you understand why top broadcasting organizations and camera operators choose PAG. Charging One of the benefits of Li-Ion technology is the low self-discharge rate. This means that batteries do not have to be topped up if they have not been used for a few days. There is also no ‘memory effect’ as Li-Ion batteries do not suffer long term problems as a result of partial charging and discharging. PAG Chargers To ensure the longest possible cycle life PAG Li-Ion batteries should be charged with PAG chargers. Two and four channel models are available that incorporate compatible battery connectors (see Pages 11 to 14). It is also possible to charge PAG Li-Ion batteries via the front PP90 sockets of all-chemistry PAG chargers, using the appropriate charge adaptor (see Page 15). PAG V-Mount batteries can be charged using PAG V-Series
chargers or the appropriate Sony charger. High Capacity or Long Life A unique charge facility, within the PAGlok and Snap-on compatible PAG L95 Time Batteries, provides a choice between extended cycle life or high capacity, when charging with PAG all-chemistry chargers. Air Transportation PAG L95 batteries have been tested by an independent test facility, to comply with United Nations regulations, as required by air transport and civil aviation authorities. There are no restrictions on the air transportation of PAG L95 batteries in hand luggage.

PAG Zero-Lithium Travel-Packs.
PAG ZL-Series flight-friendly batteries are welcome aboard. Air Transportation Certain airlines have refused to let Li-Ion ENG batteries on-board aircraft in hand luggage, despite legitimate air safety certification that proves compliance with IATA regulations for lithium content and United Nations testing. For this reason, PAG has introduced ZL-Series Travel Packs, a range of flight-friendly batteries that contain zero-lithium, and are always welcome aboard. A Choice of Capacities The ZL-Series comprises battery packs with capacities of approximately 150, 125 and 50 watt-hours. Models are available that are compatible with either the V-Mount or PAGlok formats. In addition there is also a 40 watt-hour NP1 pack. Highest Capacity Battery The ZL-150 is PAG’s highest capacity battery and is packaged in PAG’s popular slimline SuperPack format, rather than the cumbersome ‘brick’. Li-Ion batteries of this capacity are limited to two units in your hand luggage, whereas the ZL-150 has no such restriction. In addition to the air transportation benefits, the PAG ZL-150 is an ideal solution for those who require extended run-time, and a higher current-draw capability.

Zero-Lithium Time Battery PAG has incorporated its highly accurate Power & Time Display into the 125 watt-hour ZL-125; it is ideal for those who require increased capacity and accurate run-time information. Smaller, Lighter Packs The ZL-50 is a more compact battery. Its dimensions match those of the PAG L95. It has a capacity of approximately 50 watt-hours. The PAG ZL-50 is able to indicate the state-of-charge by means of a four LED display. If the battery is more than 87% charged all four LED’s will light, when the display button is pressed. If the battery is less than 12% charged none of the LED’s will light.
NP1 Format The NP1 format ZL-NP, has a capacity of approximately 40 watthours and is capable of supplying a continuous current of 8A, ideal for powering a camera and lighting simultaneously. It also features a four-LED state-of-charge indicator. ZL-Series batteries are compatible with PAG All-Chemistry AR Series and new V-Series chargers, which PAG recommends for extended battery life (See Pages 11 to 14). The Latest Ni-MH Technology PAG ZL-Series batteries employ the latest Ni-MH cell-technology, which has greatly improved since its introduction to the industry approx-
imately a decade ago. Customers can now expect a longer cycle life, if batteries are always charged with the appropriate PAG charger.

PAG Ni-Cd Batteries. Nickel-Cadmium batteries, designed for professional broadcast applications, are not affected by European Union legislation preventing the sale of Ni-Cd batteries in the EU, which came into effect in September 2008. The legislation includes exemption for Ni-Cd batteries intended for industrial and military use. For this reason PAG continues to sell its Ni-Cd battery range. PAG will aim to meet your demand for NiCd batteries, where possible, until Ni-Cd cells are no longer available, or become uneconomic.

The process of developing alternative products for the Ni-Cd range has already begun with the introduction of the ZL-Series batteries and Ni-MH Pagbelts. These batteries utilise the latest high-capacity, long-life Ni-MH cells, and are capable of providing the higher-currents that new, highdefinition cameras require. (ODP) feature is an automatic low voltage cut-out facility that prevents cell imbalance, the most common cause of reduced battery cycle life. XLR-4 Output Pagbelts have an XLR-4 (F) output connector and a 10A self-resetting thermal cut-out to protect the battery belt from accidental short circuit.

PAG Camera Power Supplies. Compact & Lightweight The PAG Power Supply is compact and lightweight and connects directly to the battery mount on the rear of your camera. Compatibility Models are available that are compatible with the three most popular mounting systems: PAGlok, Sony V-Mount and Snap-on. Neat and Tidy No cables are required, other than the standard IEC power cable supplied with the unit. 50 Watts of Power The PAG Power Supply is capable of providing a full 50W, suitable for powering most broadcast cameras. It has a universal mains input of 90 to 270V, and features an LED power 'ON' indicator. The PAG Power Supply complies with all CE
Directives for EMC and Safety and the output is fully protected. PAG AR Series 2 chargers are available with either PAGlok connectors or NP1 pockets. PAG AR Series 2, Quasar and Pulsar chargers employ Sequential Charging which can fully charge one battery a lot quicker than a simultaneous charger. Simultaneous charging distributes current over more than one battery at the same time, making the process longer. PAG sequential chargers are so efficient that in many cases two batteries can be charged faster than they can with simultaneous chargers of other manufacturers. Ni-MH and Ni-Cd batteries of other reputable manufacturers can be charged, as well as Sony & IDX V-Mount Li-Ion batteries. Variety of Features The features of each PAG charger vary to include 2 or 4 channels, a choice of battery connector, a camera power supply or a Discharge program. Batteries which have been repeatedly subjected to partial discharging will benefit from the analytic Discharge/Charge program which also measures and displays available battery capacity. Recovery Charge The Recovery Charge Program can be used to regain capacity lost as a result of extended storage or
operation under adverse conditions. An automatic maintenance charge is applied to Ni-Cd and Ni-MH batteries, after full charging, to keep them in peak condition and ready for instant use. This program is not required for Li-Ion batteries. Li-Ion Recovery PAG chargers incorporate a program that will automatically recover PAG Li-Ion batteries when the output has been shut down by the internal protection circuit. Worldwide Operation PAG charging systems automatically adjust to operate from AC mains supplies worldwide.

PAG V-Series Parallel Charger. PAG Cube The PAG Cube is a new, ultra-compact, low-cost, simultaneous fast-charger. It features PAG’s own Intelligent Parallel Charging software, designed for the safe fast-charging of V-Mount Li-Ion batteries, of reputable manufacture. Extend Battery Life Charging is the most important factor in achieving an extended battery cycle life. PAG L95 Li-Ion batteries are capable of an average of three years active service, without substantial loss of capacity, when protected from abusive charging practices. V-Mount Compatible The Cube features four V-Mount compatible battery connectors and can also be used to sequentially fast-charge PAG V-Mount ZL-Series batteries and other V-Mount Ni-MH batteries of reputable manufacture. PAGlok Version PAG will introduce an all-chemistry PAGlok version of the 4-channel Cube charger (Model 9702) in the near future. Phase 1 Pre-Charge: Prepares shutdown or deeply discharged batteries for charge acceptance. Phase 2 Testing: Determines the type and state-ofcharge of the batteries, and the maximum current that can be applied.
Phase 3 Charging: The charger then shares the current intelligently between the channels, briefly addressing the most discharged batteries first, before simultaneously fullycharging all batteries as quickly and efficiently as possible.
PAG V4-CPA Camera Power Adaptor The PAG V4-CPA Camera Power Adaptor is a separate unit that enables you to power your camera from an AC mains supply, using the Cube charger. It is a compact, impact resistant unit that can be connected to any channel on the charger. Connection to the camera can be made using an XLR-4 male to female adaptor lead Model 9450. The V4-CPA outputs 16.8V at 5.5A and is suitable for use with modern broadcast cameras which are capable of being powered using 14.4V or 14.8V Li-Ion batteries.

PAG Low-Cost Chargers. Low-Cost Chargers for Low-Cost Batteries The PAG Freelancer and PAG V2 are ultra-compact, multi-chemistry low-cost chargers. They are designed to complement PAG’s low-cost L95e batteries, also available in PAGlok and V-Mount models. > The PAG Freelancer will charge Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-Ion batteries in the ranges 12 to 14.8V, 1.5 to 10Ah. > The PAG V2 will charge Li-Ion and Ni-MH batteries made by PAG and Sony. Battery Mounts and Adaptors The PAGlok battery mounting system was first developed as an alternative to the Anton-Bauer system, in the days when portable electronic video cameras were in their infancy. The range of PAGlok Connectors grew as new cameras and ancillary equipment were introduced. Adaptors that provide compatibility between the Anton-Bauer and PAG systems have
always been available from PAG. Now that Sony’s V-Mount system has been widely adopted, PAG provides its own version of the V-Mount battery connector for use with a wide range of cameras and equipment. PAG Dual Battery Mounts for All Systems. The PAG Power Plate is a dual battery mount that enables two PAG L110, L95 or ZL-50 batteries (PAGlok or V-Mount) to be used in parallel, providing a combined capacity, and a higher current-draw capability. It is compatible with the three most popular mounting systems: PAGlok, V-Mount, and Anton-Bauer. The combined capacity is ideal for powering a camcorder and camera light simultaneously for extended periods. Combining the capacities of two 95 watt-hour Li-Ion batteries is preferable to using one higher capacity battery because sharing the load ensures that you do not discharge a single battery at an excessive rate. Additionally, civil aviation and air transport regulations state that no more than two batteries, having capacities greater than 100 watthours, can be taken on board aircraft, whereas there is no restriction on the number of L95s.
BATTERIES
The combined weight of the Power Plate and two L95s is 1.87kg, less than a single Ni-Cd SuperPack of the equivalent voltage. This weight is an ideal counterbalance for the weight of the lens. The Power Plate incorporates a charge-status indicator that relates to the voltage output of the batteries connected. Used throughout the world by news broadcasting organisations, Paglights are the ultimate in camera lighting. The original 12V Paglight was the first on-board camera light designed specifically to meet the requirements of the broadcast industry. PAG now offers a family of lights, designed to fulfil a variety of professional requirements, but sharing many of the unique features that made Paglight the industry standard. Paglights are robust, light in weight, cool-running and fully-focusable. Their versatility has been achieved as a result of PAG’s patented plugin lamp holder feature. This is best illustrated in the original 12V professional Paglight which is capable of both tungsten halogen and metal-halide arc light output. Plug-in lamp holder options for this light also include Softstart, for use with Li-Ion batteries, and the powersaving, regulated PowerMax unit, which incorporates a dimming facility called VariLux (see Page 19). Paglight M was introduced to suit the dimensions of the smaller, digital camcorders. This miniaturised version of the 12V Paglight can be powered from a range of 12V to 14.8V battery packs and belts. The plug-in PowerArc option makes Paglight M the industry’s most compact yet powerful arc light. A Softstart lamp holder is also
available for use with Li-Ion batteries. Paglight M can be mounted to the camera using a variety of detachable power bases (see Page 23). For small camcorder users, whether professional or consumer, the Paglight C6 Kit is an ideal solution. This self-contained, high-quality 6V system provides everything you need - Paglight, diffuser, dichroic, barndoors, battery and charger at a price to suit any equipment budget (see PAG DV Solutions Book). Paglight L is a 250W ‘basher’ or fill-light, available in 24V and 30V models. It is the perfect hand-held location light with many features of PAG’s original on-board camera light: quick and easy lamp changing, detachable power base and a range of accessories (see Page 25). LED Technology is improving all the time, addressing many of the problems that early examples displayed, such as poor spectral distribution and colour temperature. Using improved LED technology PAG intends to offer a plug-in LED option for the Paglight, to further increase its versatility and provide you with the most economical LED solution.

Plug-in PowerArc
Detachable power base Paglight is a revolutionary camera light, the first specifically designed to suit professional ENG/EFP requirements, and answer the many requests for an all-embracing, single operator camera light. PAG's unique patented design makes Paglight the coolest running and most versatile camera light in the industry. Interchangeable plug-in lamp holders fit into the back of the lamp body. Variants of wattage and unit type can be exchanged without handling the lamp. There are four lamp holder options, three of which accept standard bi-pin halogen lamps.
Standard Lamp Holder Accepts 20W, 35W, 50W, 75W and 100W halogen lamps. Softstart Lamp Holder Prevents the cold lamp start-up surge from activating the over-current protection circuits within Li-Ion batteries. (Not required when using the lamp output on a Sony camera). PowerMax Control/VariLux A voltage regulated unit that prolongs battery run-time and saves lamp filament life. VariLux is a lamp

PowerArc Paglight can be instantly converted to HMI by plugging in the PowerArc unit. The arc lamp consumes only 24W but provides the equivalent of 100W of daylight output. The ability to convert from halogen to HMI makes the Paglight the industry’s most versatile camera light.
Rotatable Accessory Kit This accessory holding ring holds any combination of snap-in barn doors (tapered or parallel), dichroic filters or diffuser and can be fitted to the front of the light. The assembly can be rotated easily to give the desired configuration.

The Paglight incorporates a standard halogen lamp holder and a choice of 2 bi-pin halogen lamps (20W, 35W, 50W, 75W or 100W). Paglight PowerArc Field Kit. Paglight PowerArc Field Kit incorporates the PAG PowerArc HMI unit and two standard halogen units, enabling you to take full advantage of the unique plug-in lamp holder system that makes Paglight the industry’s most versatile camera light. Converting the Paglight from halogen to Arc takes a matter of seconds. The kit is tailored to your requirements with a choice of Power Base, suitable for the light ouput on most cameras (PP90, D-Tap or XLR-4), and a choice of two halogen lamps (20W, 35W, 50W, 75W or 100W). The light is fitted with a rotatable accessory holder that includes a daylight filter, a diffuser and two parallel barn doors. Halogen Both halogen lamp holders utilise 10W, 20W and 35W standard G4size 12V halogen lamps. Wattage variants can be changed without the need to handle the lamp. When not in use, each lamp holder can be stored in a heat-resistant polymer lamp protector. Lamp holders are supplied with wattage identification labels. Softstart Softstart prevents the cold lamp start-up surge from activating the over-current protection circuits within Li-Ion batteries. Ultra-Compact The Paglight M is an ultra-compact 12V light that embodies many features of the larger Paglight. It has a 35mm reflector and measures 90mm from front to back. Its reduced proportions complement perfectly the new generation of smaller broadcast digital camcorders, as well as DV and high-definition hand-held camcorders. Cool-Running Paglight M is constructed from a glass-reinforced engineering
polymer that provides strength and temperature stability. PAG’s patented design ensures the Paglight M is cool-running at all times. Location Basher This compact and portable 250W hand-held fill-light is available in 24V and 30V models, and incorporates many features of PAG’s on-board camera light. Fully-Focusable Focusing is provided by a lever situated on the side of the lamp body and is continuously variable from narrow to wide angle. Plug-in Lampholders A lampholder unit plugs into the rear of the light and is locked in position. It can be easily withdrawn, making lamp replacement safe and quick. Heat Dissipation The lamp body and reflector housing are constructed to maximise the dissipation of heat as well as to provide strength and impact resistance.
Perfect Positioning The lamp body has a multidirectional mounting and may be adjusted vertically and horizontally. The desired position can be maintained by a locking lever situated on the side of the light base. Detachable Power Base The 250W Paglight has a detachable power base that incorporates a lead terminated with an XLR-4 connector. This can be used to power the light from a Pagbelt NMH battery belt. Paglight L Kits are available that include either a 24V or 30V Pagbelt (see below). The Paglight base incorporates a 1/4� Whit bush which enables the light to be mounted to a tripod or a handle using one of the Universal Mounting Options (see Page 26).
