HOUSING OPTIONS

HOUSING AND RESIDENTIALITY DePauw is a fully residential campus; our students live on campus all four years and housing is guaranteed for all students. Each class year offers different living communities that complement learning inside and outside of the classroom. Immersion into these inclusive communities enhances each student’s intellectual exploration and personal development, linking liberal arts education with life’s work.

HOUSING OPTIONS All first-year students live in residence halls with students from diverse backgrounds. Students become accustomed to a new community, explore their personal interests, adapt to teaching methods at the collegiate level and learn from each other in new ways. This eases their transition to college and growth into independent adulthood.

Each residence hall provides programmatic and community development opportunities in addition to peer support and mentoring. Most rooms are double occupancy, but room size can range from single occupancy to fourperson rooms. VERNON E. JORDAN JR. HALL The newest residence hall, opened in 2020, offers shared amenities that encourage students to study, learn, work and socialize together, including laundry facilities, technology-enabled meeting space and study lounges, kitchens and a sunny atrium to accommodate gatherings of residents.

INTENTIONAL COMMUNITIES:

HEALTHY LIVING COMMUNITY Healthy living communities are available for students who choose to commit to refrain from the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in their residential environment. (Availability depends on sufficient student interest.)

RAINBOW COMMUNITY The Rainbow Community provides a respectful space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning students and their advocates to connect and live together. Restrooms are gender-inclusive. All residents and their guests are expected to be respectful and sensitive to all identities within the LGBTQIA community. These communities offer resources, programs and events; create intentional opportunities for social and interpersonal connections; and give students the responsibility to set the standards of the community.
