Ahotel built nearly 150 years for a whisky baron seems a fine choice for whisky connoisseurs, and in the case of The Ardshiel, that’s a very safe assumption to make. Proprietors Flora Grant and Marion MacKinnon lay on a smorgasbord of Scotch whisky options – including over 500 malts – in their Usquebaugh Bar and Lounge. Guests also have the option of popping to the nearby Springbank, Glengyle or Glen Scotia distilleries, making the long trip down the Kintyre Peninsula well worth while. On-site facilities include The Garden Restaurant, which serves Kintyre lamb and locally caught scallops, and the Arran Suite, a function room with a capacity of 65 that frequently hosts whisky events.
