UTH ABOUT THE COLD HARD TR
H
Valentine’s Day
ere’s the thing about Valentine’s Day. The only time you should be even remotely concerned with this holiday is when you are 5 years old and worried that you’re not going to get enough crappy cards in your shitty makeshift shoebox. If you are an adult over the age of 21 still complaining to others that this holiday is bullshit, or putting together an anti-Valentine’s Day movie night tear fest with your friends, you have the mentality of a 15 year old and it’s no wonder you are alone and single on this romantic occasion.

Seriously, hope that you choke on the gallon of ice cream you are about to consume, because it will probably be about 10 years before you actually grow up and by then you will be too old and gross for anybody to consider you their Valentine anyway. The truth is, men and women see this holiday through completely different eyes when they are older. It’s no longer as simple as a valentine and a tiny box of inedible
it’s no wonder you are alone and single on this romantic occasion. chocolates. Men, your eyes are obviously located below the belt. Which is fine in this case, because let’s face it, Valentines Day has nothing to do with you. It’s a girls’ holiday and your only role on the 14th is to think of something sappy that you’d never like to do for your girlfriend and foot the bill on an expensive dinner. If you are a man and you are looking forward to Valentine’s Day, it’s probably for one of two reasons: you

CONTINUED FROM PAGE 4 were supposed to be born a woman, or you’re getting laid. If you still have all of your genitals intact, you’re probably leaning towards the second reason and you’d gladly hand the lady candy so long as it’s the tiny chocolate liquor bottles they sell in ABC that you secretly hope will get her wasted. Every wine glass you clink or champagne bath you pour is one step closer to the bedroom.
company for a few hours. The bottom line is you’re both going to get some tonight. An “act of love” that brings two people as close as they can possibly be to one another. And if you’re single, like our cover model (you didn’t really think they were together did you?) do all of the above, only with a total stranger at the bar who will later be inclined to creepily sniff your head when you go outside for some fresh air. Who knows, it could turn into something really special. meghan@drinkorlando.com
Ladies. Every year you look forward to seeing what agonizing, uncomfortable romantic gesture your boyfriend can come up with to make you happy and give you those school girl butterflies. The fact is you’re a needy bitch and you’re kidding yourself. Sure, maybe he scribbled on the bathroom mirror a love note, telling you how beautiful you are and how much he loves you. But in the back of his mind he knows that he might as well have just taped his nuts to the mirror with it, because he has literally just handed them over to appease you for one stupid forced Hallmark occasion. Are you happy now? Your boyfriends balls are hanging in the bathroom. Clearly, he loves you. So how can we all see Valentine’s Day on the same page? If you have a significant other, hit up a dive bar like Wally’s in your best attire for the night. Don’t worry about the ridiculously priced jewelry or the expensive dinners. Tip a few shots back and simply enjoy each others

SPILL IT In honor of Valentine’s Day, Drink wants to know: What do you love about Orlando? I love Grafiti Junktion because an 11 a.m. mimosa can very easily turn into a cab ride home after last call, and I love The Celt because nothing cures the next days hangover like their Irish breakfast washed down with a car bomb. – ASHLEY PENNER, MODEL
I LOVE WILL’S ON MILLS BECAUSE IT’S IN THE QUAD, WHICH INCLUDES THREE OTHER KICK ASS JOINTS: WALLY’S, UNCLE LOU’S [AKA LMGA ENTERTAINMENT] AND THE PEACOCK ROOM. THEY ALL SERVE DAMN GOOD DRINKS AND TAKE DAMN GOOD CARE OF ME! – MICHÈLE LANE, THE LITTLE DEBBIES
I LOVE JOHNNY’S OTHER SIDE BECAUSE THEY HAVE EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT. THEY HAVE A GREAT SELECTION OF BEERS, LOTS OF LIQUOR AND THE WINE SELECTION IS GOOD TOO. THE TVS AND EVENTS MAKE IT A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND YOUR BRUNCH HOURS, OR LATE NIGHTS TOO. – LESLEY MASSEY
I love Backroom on Church Street because it never gets old. If the action ever stops there, it just picks back up at its neighbor, 23. – ALENA SAVOSTIKOVA, MODEL
{
I love how UCF has the Dungeon, a fancy “ultra-lounge” in the middle of a college strip mall. – KARA LURY, STUDENT 25
