TITLE By NAME MATRIC NO. Research proposal submitted as Partial Fulfilment of the Course Requirement for BBI4401 Universiti Putra Malaysia Month Date, 2015 DrRD

5

Introduction • Short and to the point • State research problem clearly to establish the importance and need for carrying out the research • Statement of the problem, the rationale and the background may be written as the opening paragraph. • Present the basic facts • The section is to attract the reader’s interest DrRD

6

Problem Statement • Either in question or declarative form • Begin with introductory sentence • Next, describe the background of the question • Finally, the significance of the study • To identify a problem, the statement must have 2 or more variables DrRD

7

Hypothesis • An educated guess or a conjecture about the solution of a problem • Formulate before collecting data

DrRD

8

Rationale • Should be clear • Explains the fundamental reason of something • Clarify and justify the major assumptions of research to be undertaken

DrRD

9

Operational definition • Operationally define the variables and conditions of the study • Unusual terms that could be misinterpreted

DrRD

10

Significance of the study • Show how the result of the study can influence educational theory • Or how it can help to promote educational practice

DrRD

11

Limitations of the study • Limiting conditions • Eg. Lack of time, money and other restrictive weakness • Cannot be controlled by the researcher

DrRD

12

Literature review • Summary of previous research as evidence that the researcher is familiar with the study to be undertaken • Must relate to the objectives of the study • Organise by topic to see the background of the study step by step • Not to discuss in detail, only the important ones DrRD

13

Literature review • PURPOSE 1: to determine what has ben done that relates to the problem you are researching • PURPOSE 2: to point out research strategies, specific procedures and research instruments that have / have not been found to be effective in your problem DrRD

14

Method • All steps to be taken to investigate the questions under consideration • Identify the subjects • Describe the populations samples selected and how they are selected • Selected at random or otherwise and reasons for the selection DrRD

15

Research procedure • • • • • • •

Must be described step by step What must be done How it will done What kind of data to be collected How data will be organised Select a research design Instruments to be used suitable to the questions or hypothesis DrRD
