Effective October 1, 2020, the department boasts an ISO Class rating of 2. Matthews Fire & EMS respond to approximtely 3,900 calls for service each year. The department also respond to neighboring cities and towns when requested as part of the county mutual aid agreement. In addition to emergency response, the department also participates in numerous public relations events
