Clubs and Organisations at DTU 2024

What?

In this booklet you can read about organisations and clubs at DTU and beyond. Some of them are sub-departmens of Polyteknisk Forening (PF), some in DTU Sport and other are independent organisations.

We hope that this can give you an overview of some of the ofers that can be found at DTU.

De Studerendes Erhvervskontakt Students’ Business Relation (DSE)

DSE is an independent, non-political and non-profit association of students in the subjects engineering, natural science and health science. We are located at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and University of Aalborg (AAU).

Every year in the week before easter break DSE runs the biggest job and career fair in Denmark with over 150 participating companies on DTU campus. It is the perfect opportunity to network with companies and secure your next student job, graduate programme, internship or full time job!

Twice a year a spring and a fall edition is released of our job and career handbook Pejling. It contains some interesting articles on career tips and opportunities and close to 200 company profiles with useful information about the company’s size, location, what fields of study they are looking for and more!

In week 45 is the annual event called PRE-PAIR in both Lyngby and Ballerup. It is based on speed dating, where participants get fifteen minutes with the companies of their choice to see if there is a mutual interest in a future internship.

Read more at studerende.dk and follow us on Facebook at DSE Lyngby and Instagram at dse.dtu to see our events and participate in giveaways

You are always welcome to visit our offices to receive a free notepad and hear more about upcoming events

Polyteknisk Forening Polytechnical Association (PF)

Polyteknisk Forening - commonly abbreviated PF - is the student union of DTU. PF is involved in most of the parts of being a student. You can split the association up in three parts– the academical, the political, and the social. Volunteer students in each part of PF decide the path and the policies of the association. In the following, you can read about the two of the three different parts in which PF can help you, what PF does for the students of DTU and how you can become a part of PF.

Academical

On the academic front, PF works to ensure all study programs are of the highest quality. This is partly done through Study Boards (ISN) where every course evaluation from the different Departments is looked through by students and the faculty to find possible improvements. We collaborate with the Executive Board at DTU and the Office for Study Programs and Student Affairs to find the best ways to improve the teaching methods, exam methods and summer courses on DTU. Often these decisions are based on discussion from the Academic Committee.

Social

PF works to ensure and evolve the students’ study environment and house/living conditions. We have the responsibility for S-Huset, which is a gathering place for all students and is used for various social events.

On the social front, PF works towards ensuring a good and safe study environment. This includes both deciding whether the facilities and the classrooms meet our standards, if the food in the cafeteria is good enough, and if there is study room/booths to study in silence. PF also works with topics like livelihood for students, SU, stress, and shortage of housing.

PF organises a lot of social events like running events, a ski trip, a surfcamp, football tournaments, and large concerts – so you will not be bored while studying at DTU. In your everyday life you can drop by S-Huset where you can play games, enjoy your lunch, have a meet-up with coffee, or drink a beer after a long day of lectures.

Polytechnical Association (PF)

S-Huset

S-Huset is the collective name of PF’s student houses.

S-Huset runs several cafés, where coffee, sandwiches, snacks and soda is sold at student-friendly prices, ensuring students are fed and fueled for class. S-Huset in Lyngby can be found in building 101, entrance E. In S-Huset you will find the PF secretariat, Kaffestuen (The Coffee Lounge), Pejsestuen (The Fireplace Lounge), Læsesalen (The Study Hall) and Kælderbaren (The Cellar Bar), and with everything from bars, pool tables and board games, it is best hangout spot after a day’s work.

Factbox

Location: S-Huset, Building 101

pf.dk/s-huset

S-Huset also hosts the biggest parties and concerts on Campus, such as the DTU Intro Party for Bachelor’s students, and the annual DTU Commemoration Party, where all departments of S-Huset come together to facilitate the biggest event of the year - S-Huset bartenders running the bars, CREW managing wardrobes and stages, PF Security providing guards to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, and PolyJoint Booking responsible for finding and chaperoning artists. Popular bands such as Magtens Korridorer, Johnny Deluxe, Scarlet Pleasure, Duné and countless others have played concerts in S-Huset throughout the years, and all signed posters visible in Kælderbaren!

In addition to S-Husets main location in Building 101, the PF Café is tactically located in building 306, ensuring you can grab a hot cup of coffee or a cold can of Mango Loco on your way to class. On Ballerup Campus, S-Huset is located in building 15B next to the canteen, and Verners Kælder in the cellar of building 19.

Crew

Who we are and why you should join

Crew is the volunteer organization of S-House. We are the ones setting up stages and ensuring crowd safety at concerts like rusjoints and friday rock, Bartenders at 5ér friday and providing food for S-House employees and volunteers at events.

Crew is a great way of volunteering in PF in a different way. You get to be part of a really “hyggelig” volunteer group where you learn a lot about what it means to put together events. In a sense crew is the muscle behind S-House and the events taking place there. At crew you can experience: stagesetup, bartending, stageguarding and cooking together.

We do hard work but at the end of the day we get free beverages and food. Furthermore we get free access to events, have great after parties ( fustagefest) and get employee discount at S-House.

PFSecurity

Vector

Vector will receive the newly started students on the Welcome Day. It is on this day that the new students meet their classmates for the first time, just like you are introduced to your team of russes that you will follow throughout the first semester - your cake team. It is also on this day that the new students are introduced to their studies, to the campus, and generally get their first impression of DTU.

To become a vector, you must be a member of PF. If you are not yet a member of PF, you can register at the PF secretariat, or at www. pf.dk.

Student Councils

Being a part of the Study Councils at PF means representing the student perspective within your specific study line, encompassing political, academic, and social aspects.

It’s a place where everyone from your study program is welcome, and you get to meet and connect with students across different years, fostering a unique sense of camaraderie through social events.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence the direction of PF by sharing your opinions on various topics, like electing KABS and board members. If this interests you, you can take on roles like treasurer, join ISN, or even become chairperson. As a chairperson, you’ll also be part of FAKU, where you’ll exchange knowledge with other chairpersons, receive training, and help allocate funds for student activities at DTU.

Political Group (PG)

Through student politics, PF has the opportunity to influence decisions which affect education and the study environment on DTU. We try to make sure the students voices are being heard, both locally and nationally.

PF organizes panel debates with politicians to put relevant topics on the agenda – we also invite them to DTU during elections. We partake in the People’s Democratic Festival on Bornholm and organise large thematic events to give the students the opportunities to speak their mind about subject like SU, the intensity of studies, and educational reforms. Our committees determines PF’s stance on more narrow matters

Furthermore we ensure the students voices are being heard on DTU by electing representatives to the Board of DTU and other DTU committees. In PF we are actively involved with education policies on all levels – from discussions about the set-up of individual courses and a better study environment on DTU both inside and outside

Danske Studerendes Fællesråd (DSF)

National Union of Students in Denmark Factbox

The National Union of Students in Denmark (in Danish, Danske Studerendes Fællesråd (DSF)) is the national union for students enrolled in higher educations in Denmark.

Through 20 member organizations DSF represents around 165.000 students across the country. With this background and in close contact with a wide range of partners, DSF works on a daily basis to ensure students the best possible educations and living conditions. We have done so since 1932.

DSF is an umbrella organization for 20 Member organizations, which are independent student councils and student organizations, primarily located at higher education institutions. On a daily basis, the member organizations work at their education institutions to ensure that students’ interests are being heard on the local level.

Twice a year, all member organizations gather for DSFs Political Conference, where the member organizations determine DSFs political course and to choose the political leadership of DSF.

165.000 members

Meets twice a year

Location: Jernbanegade 4, 2 tv. 1608 København

The 5-person full-time political leadership of DSF consists of a president and two vice-presidents, responsible for academic affairs, and welfare and social affairs, and an organizational officer and an international officer. Together they form the Executive Committee of DSF.

The Executive Committee are elected for a period of one year, and takes action to implement the decisions made by the Political Conference. In the political work the Executive Committee refers to four committees: the Academic Affairs Committee, Welfare and Social Affairs Committee, Organizational committee and International Committee. The board of DSF is responsible for the major strategic and political decisions for the organization.

In addition to the political work in Denmark, DSF is also engaged in international student politics. This is primarily through the International Committee who represents DSF in the Nordic collaboration, Nordic Presidential Meeting (NOM) and in the European student organization, European Students’ Union (ESU). At the same time DSF is engaged in partnership projects with students from other countries, such as Palestine and Zimbabwe.

We have rehearsals every Thursday evening and we regularly sing at DTU events, Copenhagen events or even live on national TV. We also regularly organize social activities like Karaoke nights, Eurovision nights, dinners, picnics etc. This is a great opportunity for new students to meet new people.

DTU Roadrunners

DTU Roadrunners is a student-led project at DTU focused on designing ultra-efficient eco-cars that compete in the annual Shell Eco-marathon. The goal? To drive as far as possible on just one liter of fuel. Students lead the project — everything from planning and design to building and testing—applying your classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

Our mission is to demonstrate that cars can be much more fuelefficient than today’s production models. By optimizing existing technology and balancing factors like comfort, weight, and space, students learn hands-on about design, teamwork, and innovation. Our car, powered by an ethanol/methanol engine, aims to redefine sustainability in transportation. You can join the project by enrolling in the 41342 Ecocar course or participating voluntarily. Ready to make a difference? Join us and help shape the future of ecofriendly vehicles!

Late Lecture

Late Lecture is a two year old student organisation based at the Technical University of Denmark that aims to inspire students by bringing in top executives, top scientists and entrepreneurs. Our format brings in speakers for one hour to give a lecture without a focus on recruiting, but instead focused on their experience, their work and the future they are shaping.

Over the past two years, we have brought in multiple top CEOs in Denmark, flown in speakers from outside of Denmark and hosted some of the most interesting lectures found at DTU.

This work continues this semester where we are also looking for more volunteers to take over the organisation as many of the current volunteers graduate within the next year.

If you want to be part of the coziest bar on DTU, write to us on our Facebook or Instagram page.

Hegnet

Hegnet is one of the biggest fridaybars and we are located in the 3rd quadrant. Being a bartender at Hegnet is about more than just mixing and serving drinks. it’s about being a part of something special.

Hegnet is purely run by dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about making every Friday at DTU a memorable one. We work together to ensure that every Friday is a success, from setting up the bar to cleaning up after the last drink has been served. Besides bartending we both have events just for the bartenders (including a cabin trip) and some meetings determinising the future of Hegnet.

If being a bartender at Hegnet sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to have you on board! Come up to us doing a Friday, Throw us a message on facebook or write us an email at hegnetdtu@gmail. com and we will get in contact. No prior experience is necessary.
