PIONEER CELLULAR EVENT CENTER The Pioneer Cellular Event Center is a state of the art, 93,000 square-foot event center located in the heart of Weatherford, Oklahoma that has served as the home of SWOSU Volleyball since the beginning of the 2014 season. SWOSU played their first game in their new home venue on September 10, 2014, defeating St. Gregory’s in three sets. In addition to serving as the home court of the Bulldogs, SWOSU Volleyball also is housed with their locker room and coaches’ offices inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center. The new facility was built adjacent to ASAP Energy Field, allowing it to provide additional suite and bathroom facilities during home SWOSU football games. The pride and joy of the facility is the top floor VIP suite, which overlooks both the football field and the arena. It is used to entertain donors, hold meetings and serves as a multifunctional suite for gameday and events. The facility has new locker rooms, coaches’ offices, the Legacy Bank Media Room, the Dr. Michael E. Kiehn Athletic Training Facility and a number of multifunctional rooms that can be used for athletics matches, as well as university and community events. The newest feature of the building is a brand new SWOSU Athletics Hall of Fame kiosk, located on the north side of the concourse on the main floor. The event center project was initiated by the City of Weatherford’s “Vision 2020” strategic planning process and made possible by the “Yes! Weatherford” sales tax campaign, SWOSU students and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The project broke ground in December 2011 and opened its doors for business in January 2014. The Pioneer Cellular Event Center has a seating capacity in the arena of around 4,000.

HEAD COACH JOSH COLLINS Josh Collins is in his fifth season leading the SWOSU Volleyball team, having been named the program’s second head coach on January 1, 2012. Additionally, Collins added the duties of Director of Gameday Operations in the fall of 2014. The 2015 season was a breakthrough campaign for the SWOSU Volleyball program. The Bulldogs recorded the first winning season in program history by setting a new single-season record with 22 wins. SWOSU finished fourth in the Great American Conference with a 10-6 mark and entered the GAC Tournament as the No. 3-seed and defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene and Southern Arkansas to claim the program’s first-ever GAC Championship. The win also earned the Bulldogs their first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament, where they met the top-ranked team in the country, Concordia-St. Paul. SWOSU was led by a trio of All-GAC performers in 2015. Carly Zak was named a First Team All-GAC selection and became the program’s first All-Central Region performer when she earned a second team all-region selection by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). Kayla Hebert was a Second Team All-GAC selection and was named the GAC Tournament’s Most Valuable Player, while Kelsi Schmidtberger earned All-GAC honorable mention and was picked to the GAC All-Tournament Team. The Pioneer Cellular Event Center proved to be a valuable home court advantage in 2015, the second season for SWOSU Volleyball playing at their new home. The Bulldogs finished 10-2 in front of the home faithful in 2015, averaging a league-leading 371 fans per game, a new single-season record that ranked SWOSU 34th in NCAA Division II for attendance. Collins has now tutored nine players who have earned All-Great American Conference honors in the past four seasons, including First Team selections Alison Cole (2013) and Carly Zak (2015). Zak became the program’s first GAC Freshman of the Year in 2013 and the first All-Central Region selection in 2015, the same year SWOSU placed three players on the All-GAC for the third time in program history. Additionally, Collins’ teams have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award on two occasions (2012, 2014) and they won the GAC Sportsmanship Award in 2014. The 2014 team finished 8-19 overall and tied for eighth place in the Great American Conference standings, advancing to the GAC Tournament for the third consecutive season. His squad ranked among the league leaders in both digs and blocks, setting a new school record by averaging better than 2.0 blocks per set. The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Carly Zak, a

HEAD COACH JOSH COLLINS second team all-conference selection for the second straight season. The Bulldogs finished tied for fourth in the GAC standings in 2013 with an 8-6 conference mark and they completed their season with 13 victories for the second straight season, matching the second-highest win total in program history. In addition, some of their numbers stack up against the best in SWOSU history, including the most single-season blocks (249) and the second-most kills (1,525), attack percentage (.170), assists (1,429) and digs (2,037). His first team faced a daunting non-conference schedule before coming together in Great American Conference play. The Bulldogs had an overall fourwin improvement from 2011, finishing 13-19 with a fourth-place finish in the GAC at 10-4. SWOSU finished ahead of the other four Oklahoma-based schools in the conference standings by at least two games. At the GAC Tournament, SWOSU defeated Ouachita Baptist in the quarterfinals, earning the first postseason victory in program history. In the semifinals, SWOSU went toe-to-toe with conference champion and tournament-host Harding, taking the Lady Bisons to five sets before succumbing 15-11. 2016 SWOSU VOLLEYBALL FACT BOOK CHRISTINA DARRAS Graduate Assistant
Christina Darras enters her third season as a member of the SWOSU Volleyball coaching staff in 2016 following a twoyear playing career for the Bulldogs. Her second season on the SWOSU coaching staff proved to be a breakthrough season for the program as the Bulldogs finished the 2015 season with a school-record 22 wins and finished fourth in the Great American Conference with a mark of 10-6. SWOSU then entered the GAC Tournament as the No. Paul. In her first year on the coaching staff, Darras assisted with a Bulldog squad that finished eighth in the Great American Conference standings and advanced to the conference tournament for a third straight season. Statistically, SWOSU ranked among the league leaders in both digs and blocks, becoming the first team in program history to average better than 2.0 blocks per set. Darras appeared in 59 matches for the Bulldogs from 2012-13 after beginning her career at Scottsdale Community College in her native Arizona. While playing primarily as a rightside hitter, Darras put down 316 kills in 194 sets of action and she ranks in the top ten in both career assist and total blocks at SWOSU. Prior to transferring to SWOSU, Darras was a two-time All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) and All-Region selection at Scottsdale CC. She was named the ACCAC Player of the Week during her sophomore season and she earned the “Excellence Under the Stars Achievement Award” at the conclusion of her career. As a prep, Darras was a two-time all-region selection at Gilbert HS. A native of Gilbert, Ariz., Darras completed her bachelor’s degree in Marketing at SWOSU in 2015 before beginning work on a master’s degree in Sports Management.
CAITLIN OGLETREE Graduate Assistant Caitlin Ogletree joined the SWOSU Volleyball coaching staff prior to the 2015 season and she enters her second season as a graduate assistant for the Bulldogs in 2016. Her first year with the Bulldogs proved to be a breakthrough season for the program as SWOSU finished the 2015 season with a school-record 22 wins and finished fourth in the Great American Conference with a 10-6 mark. SWOSU then entered the GAC Tournament as the No. Paul. Ogletree came to SWOSU following a standout four-year playing career that saw her split time between the University of Houston and the University of Cincinnati. As a freshman, she was a four-time Conference USA Setter of the Week and named to the CUSA AllFreshman team after leading Houston in assists and aces while ranking second on the team in digs. She then made four starts for the Cougars as a sophomore in 2012 before transferring to Cincinnati. After sitting out the 2013 season due to NCAA transfer regulations, had the opportunity to try out for the USA Women’s National Team in the summer of 2014 before returning to the court that fall for Cincinnati. She led the Bearcats with 614 assists and a 7.14 assist/set ratio in her redshirt-junior season, but her playing career was cut short following the season when she had shoulder surgery. Ogletree was a four-year standout at Montgomery HS, where she was a two-time all-state selection, four-time District Setter of the Year and four-time academic all-district honoree. A native of Montgomery, Texas, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Cincinnati in 2015 and she is now working towards a master’s degree in Sports Management from SWOSU.

Recap: The SWOSU Volleyball team won a school-record 22 matches and their first-ever Great American Conference Tournament Championship, but the Bulldogs historic postseason run came to an end at the hands of Concordia-St. Paul, the top-ranked team in NCAA Division II. SWOSU entered the postseason as a long shot to advance, playing in Central Region, which had 11 teams ranked in the final AVCA Top 25 poll. Their first-ever foe in the NCAA Tournament was a Golden Bear squad that is a national powerhouse, having won seven NCAA Division II National Championships. Concordia-St. Paul was simply the better team as they defeated SWOSU 3-0, with set scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-15. Concordia hit .532 for the match with 44 kills and 11.5 blocks, while SWOSU was limited to a hitting percentage of .070 and just 19 kills. The Bulldogs were led by junior Carly Zak, who hit .318 with 10 kills to finish the season with 446 kills, three shy of the single-season school record. Zak concluded her third year as a Bulldog with 1,157 kills, the most in program history. One major difference in the match was at the net, where CSP finished with 11.5 blocks while SWOSU was held without a block for the first time all season as the Golden Bears worked effectively against one of the Bulldogs strengths. CSP out-dug the Dawgs 3526 and had 10 service aces, compared to three for SWOSU.

GREAT AMERICAN CONFERENCE The Great American Conference is one of the newest in NCAA Division II, first taking the field in the fall of 2011. Entering its fourth year of competition, the GAC continues to establish itself on the field of play against the very tough Central Region/Super Region 3. The NCAA announced on March 9, 2011 that the Great American Conference was officially accepted as the 23rd NCAA Division II athletics conference. Although the new league was new, it was a concept that had been informally discussed since the early 1990’s between institutions from Arkansas and Oklahoma. Nine charter members (Arkansas-Monticello, Arkansas Tech, East Central, Harding, Henderson State, Ouachita Baptist, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southern Arkansas and Southwestern Oklahoma State) agreed to form a new NCAA Division II athletic conference in July 2010 and notified their respective leagues of the decision. In November of 2010, the league was stamped as the Great American Conference and announced in March of 2011 that it would become the 23rd active member conference in NCAA Division II. Will Prewitt, previously an associate commissioner of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC), was selected as the first GAC Commissioner and appointed to his post one month before the league had officially been named. He is joined on staff by Associate Commisioner for Compliance Audra Tope, Assistant Commissioner for Communications Eric Moyer and Assistant Commissioner for Operations Stephanie Prewitt. The nine founding members began active membership within the NCAA Division II ranks on September 1, 2011. Earlier that summer, Southern Nazarene was accepted into the NCAA Division II membership process and they were extended a provisional invitation to join the GAC. Northwestern Oklahoma State also received a provisional invitation after being accepted into the process in the summer of 2012. Southern Nazarene becomes an active championship member of the GAC for the 2014-15 season while Northwestern Oklahoma State will do the same the following year.
