MISSION Southwestern Oklahoma State University and its Athletics Department are dedicated to providing their student-athletes with the best possible experience in both athletics and in the classroom. SWOSU is a member of the NCAA Division II, the Great American Conference, and the Regional University System of Oklahoma. SWOSU places high standards on its student-athletes, coaches, and athletic administrators in order to excel academically and athletically.

#SWOSURISING

PURPOSE The purpose of the SWOSU Athletic Association is to supplement the Athletic Department’s University budget in order to be competitive in the prestigious NCAA II and Great American Conference. The top priorities are recruiting and scholarships. The funds will be used to attract talented athletes to campus and supplement the department’s scholarship funds.

GREETINGS FROM SOUTHWERTERN OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS On behalf of our administration, coaches, and athletes we would like to thank you for your past and present support of SWOSU. We are proud to provide 350 student-athletes the opportunity to compete at a high level of scholarship athletics while excelling in the classroom and fully engaging in the broader campus experience. This balance, in which student-athletes are recognized for their academic success, athletics contributions and campus/community involvement, is a priority to us as an institution. If you haven’t visited the hill recently, we have had massive facilities upgrades to provide our student-athletes, coaches and fans with first-class venues to be proud of. Next time you are on campus, I invite you to check out the Pioneer Cellular Event Center, complete with state of the art basketball and volleyball locker rooms, the Skyview Suite which overlooks both the court and the football field, ticket booths and an alumni room, the new turf on ASAP Energy Field in Milam Stadium, the new locker rooms and coaches offices in the Cecil Perkins Football Complex, and the Wellness Center. The athletic complex that houses an upgraded soccer field, baseball and softball facilities and the incredible Everett Dobson Golf Training Facility, equip with 4 indoor to outdoor hitting bays, flight scope technology, coaches offices, a players lounge, and an indoor putting green. Also, a 7,500 sq. ft. Strength and Conditioning Center that has new custom flooring from PLAE flooring – the best performance flooring on the market today – was laid throughout the building along with SWOSU logos featured throughout and 14 custom half racks built by Hammer Strength, another top of the line provider. These were much needed improvements, and we are thankful for the support of Pioneer Cellular, Rick and Sheila Koch with ASAP Energy, Mr. Everett Dobson, Jim Loomis Construction, Dr. Carl Hook, the Athletic Association and so many other great supporters for believing in our vision for Southwestern Oklahoma State University Athletics now and into the future! While continuing to strive for success, we are focused on graduating student-athletes and representing our institution with pride through the pursuit of championships in a first-class manner. We need your help to achieve our goals. Our student-athletes are just as competitive and in many cases just as skilled as their Division I counterparts, but institutions in Division II generally don’t have the financial resources to devote to their athletics programs or choose not to place such a heavy financial emphasis on them. The Bulldogs need your help now more than ever to sustain a high level of excellence, and in some cases, to bring that success back to SWOSU. I believe the potential for our department to continue to move forward is incredible, but it won’t happen if we stand alone. There is still much to do in order to achieve consistent success across the board, and I’m asking you to consider helping us help our student-athletes reach their collective goals and represent us all in the best possible way. In the following pages, you will see what your support has done to influence our success. We have a great coaching staff, programs immersed in tradition, a campus full of Bulldog Pride and people who do what they do for all the right reasons. We can continue to obtain great student athletes with your assistance in funding our scholarships. On behalf of our coaches and student-athletes, thank you for your support. It is my sincere hope you will join me in supporting our continued pursuit of excellence.

Todd Thurman, Director of Athletics

“Being from Weatherford, I’ve grown up around SWOSU, attending many athletic events throughout the years. I’ve had the opportunity to watch many athletes come through Southwestern, and now, to be representing the Bulldogs myself is a great honor. Not only am I pushed on the field, but also in the classroom. My teammates, coaches, the faculty, the sponsors, and the fans all make SWOSU a great place to grow not only as an athlete but also as a person.”

- Garrett Gaunt, Weatherford, Oklahoma, Baseball

“Choosing SWOSU as my college home was the best decision I could have made! From my team, to the community, to the faculty, I couldn’t ask for a better support system. I have learned so much from everyone here. I have gained friendships that will last a lifetime, a degree that will set me up for a great career, and life lessons that will always stay with me.”

– Austin Loomis, Edmond, Oklahoma, Football

“Growing up in a German city, I was a little nervous coming to western Oklahoma and thinking about how I was going to fit in or how to deal with it. The people of Weatherford and SWOSU have opened their arms and heart to me and fellow internationals in ways we will never be able to say thank you enough. Professors treat us like their kids and help us when we are gone for athletic events. Coaches and Faculty smile and wave and genuinely want to know how you are doing. Recently I met a guy who played at SWOSU previously and he has now returned to be involved in the school because once you bleed SWOSU…. You bleed blue forever.”

– Jenna Eidem, Wiesbaden, Germany, Women’s Golf “Being a student athlete at SWOSU has taught me a lot about myself. I have learned how to work hard for something I want and how I am capable of achieving anything that I set my mind to. The support system at Southwestern feels like family, from my teachers to my coaches. They all want me to succeed on and off the court. I can’t imagine myself as anything other than a DAWG!”

–Kaitlyn Dillion, Edmond, Oklahoma, Volleyball “Being a SWOSU student-athlete is one of the biggest blessings in my life. Having the opportunity to put on a Bulldog jersey is something I will never take for granted. I love that at Southwestern you basically get another family when you sign on to play college athletics. The family feeling is not only from your teammates, but from the fans and sponsors that support us in everything we do.”

– Hailey Tucker, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Women’s Basketball

WHY DONATE? The ultimate goal of the SWOSU Athletic Association is to provide SWOSU Student-Athletes with the support necessary to participate in a first-class program. The money given to the Athletic Association will be used primarily for: -Scholarships Southwestern Oklahoma State University is home to more than 350 student-athletes. With just over 100 scholarships, more than 2/3 of our students attend on their own dime or borrowed money. Majority of the money within the Athletic Association and the fundraiser held by the Athletic Association goes to scholarship which in turn is helping a student-athlete in need.

-Recruiting Quality Student-Athletes

For anyone who has been around college athletics, they know that recruiting is the lifeline to any successful athletic program. In order for our coaches to get out and find the best talent in Oklahoma and other states in the region, they must have the necessary funds to do so. Your gift could be the difference in having the available resources to recruit another superior student-athlete to represent SWOSU.

-Travel and Supplies Budgets SWOSU’s coaches are very resourceful and value every dollar they receive. They rely on the assistance of the Athletic Association and fundraising to help supplement their travel and supplies budgets. Your gift can and will be a difference-maker in order to ensure we can provide an excellent experience for our student-athletes.

-Is My Gift Tax -Deductible? The SWOSU Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. The Tax I.D.
