Fall 2015

CSE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

I am the Nitrogen Footprint Analyst at the Center for Sustainability Education (CSE). I will be primarily analyzing data taken from last year’s nitrogen footprint study using the University of Virginia’s Nitrogen Footprint Tool to ascertain how the college can reduce harmful nitrogen emissions in all stages of the college’s processes. I will also be working closely with the farm to complete and analyze its carbon and nitrogen study that commenced over the summer. I am thrilled to be a part of this team to help mitigate the college’s harmful effects to the environment, as well as to inform others about how we can all help to make a change. In my free time I participate in many clubs and activities on campus such as the Outing club, the Global Gastronomy Club, the Math and Computer Science Club, and the Italian club. STEVEN FITZPATRICK

Hi! I’m Ivy, the Eco-Rep Coordinator at the Center for Sustainability Education (CSE). I am in charge of recruiting and training the wonderful eco-rep staff of 2015-2016. It is my responsibility to make sure students have the resources and the confidence to take the environmentally friendly habits learned while in the program back to the dorms. These peer educators learn to communicate on a variety of platforms such as the eco-rep blog, hall audits, and themed hall events. As a coordinator, I get to make sure everything works in concert to create an inclusive space for sustainability education.

When I am not working for CSE you can find me on Britton Plaza peddlin’ a warm cup of coffee or in the mountains hiking about. I also act as the Residence Advisor for the fourth floor of Adams Hall. If you can’t tell, community building is my jam. Class of 2018 English & Environmental Geoscience
