WE’RE ON THE FRONTIER.
AND RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING.
Red Devils with Green Blood Sustainability is integrated into our academic programs, visible in daily student life, crucial to campus operations and prominent in our vision for the future.
Waste to Energy Recycling. Composting. Reusing. Fueling. Student organizations and campus operations are committed to minimizing waste and utilizing renewable energy sources. And they often get creative about it.
Living Laboratory Dickinson students work with each other, faculty, staff and community members to identify and define problems, understand their causes, develop solutions and test their ideas—on the College Farm, in the Treehouse, at the Solar Outdoor Laboratory, in our LEED-certified buildings and beyond.
Beyond the Bike Rack Dickinsonians pedal around campus and explore Carlisle on college-owned red bikes or on green bikes rebuilt at the student-managed campus bicycle co-op, the Handlebar. There are more than 75 bike racks around campus and a clear community passion for riding. In other words, #dsonbikes.
90% OF THE WORLD’S FOOD IS GENERATED FROM ONLY 15 KINDS OF CROPS.
WE GROW OVER 50.
Growing Green Student farmers grow vegetables and raise livestock on the USDA-certified organic College Farm. Food from the farm nourishes the community, and nearly all food waste gets sent back to the farm to be composted and used to improve the soil and grow more food.
