Southern Baptist Convention President Fred Luter Addressed the 59th Annual Meeting State Convention of Baptists in Ohio “Mission Ohio: An Unchanging Mission in a Changing World” By Jack Kwok President Mike Wilson called the 59th Annual Meeting of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio to order Wednesday afternoon at the Kalahari Convention Center in Sandusky, Ohio November 7-8, 2012. “Mission Ohio: An Unchanging Mission in a Changing World” served as the theme for the two days of mission celebration and challenge. Mission Ohio celebrated 44 church starts during the 2011-12 year: 7 are primarily language and 2 are primarily African-American. Gary Odom, Quinton Moss, and Associational Missionaries have worked with church planters and sponsoring church pastors to facilitate these starts. Since 1996, 241 new starts continue to reach, baptize, and disciple people for Christ. That is about one-third of the 700 congregations that comprise the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio. The State Convention of Baptists in Ohio budget adopted by the messengers to the 59th annual meeting reflects a 0.445% increase over the previous year’s budget. This budget distributes 59.75% to Mission Ohio and 40.25% for worldwide Southern Baptist mission work. Through the Cooperative Mission Program, Southern Baptists support mission work from “Jerusalem, to Judea, to Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” simultaneously. To that end, President Mike Wilson chose the theme “Mission Ohio: An Unchanging Mission in a Changing World” for the 59th annual meeting of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio. Executive Director Jack Kwok addressed the overall theme from Acts 20: 17-24. During the Wednesday afternoon session, Jack Helton presented the Ohio Baptist Foundation report, and Joanne Hopkins presented a report from the Woman’s Missionary Union. Women’s Missions and Ministries Group Leader Cathy Pound and her Administrative Assistant Amanda Mishne presented the overall work of Mission Ohio to assist the Southern Baptist churches and associations of Ohio to obey

the Great Commission. They introduced “The Next Factor” which is an initiative to assist Mission Ohio churches discover God’s leadership in becoming more effective in reaching, baptizing, and disciplining Ohioans for Christ. President Wilson preached on the sub-theme of “An Unchanging Message in a Changing World” from Romans 1:14-17 in the Wednesday evening session. From this passage, he reminded the messengers and guests that “We Aren’t Ashamed of the Gospel.” The Gospel is an exclusive message that in the world’s view is offensive, abrasive, and foolish. Yet, it is the power of God to salvation. With First Vice-President Mark Stinson presiding during the Wednesday evening session, messengers and guests

celebrated the results in the IMPACT Association: Northcoast. Members from Southern Baptist churches across Ohio traveled to the Northcoast Association during 2012 to assist in Intensive Mission Projects to Affect Community Transformation. As a result of IMPACT, Northcoast churches are reporting many professions of faith and new church starts. After celebrating IMPACT in the Northcoast Association, messengers turned their attention to the next IMPACT Association: the Northwest Association. Messengers gathered around the Northwest Associational Missionary Steve Long and Northwest Association church pastors and members to pray for them. To participate in IMPACT 2013, please contact Steve Long or Bruce Smith. The State Conven-
tion of Baptist’s website www.scbo.org lists contact information for both of these missionaries. Messengers also celebrated the 2012 evangelistic outreach of Mission Ohio during the Wednesday evening session. Mission Ohio youth strategist Tim Binns interviewed Ashley Starry regarding Super Summer. Ashley shared her testimony and those of her friends as to how Super Summer has blessed them and enabled them to assume Christian leadership roles in their churches. Also, Ministry Evangelism strategist Duane Floro shared the 2012 work of Ministry Evangelism which includes Disaster Relief, Buckeye Builders, Literacy, Men’s Ministries, Challengers, Royal Ambassadors, Chaplaincy, Hunger Funds, Church and Community Ministries, Mission Service Corp, Mission Partnerships, and Missions Education. Collegiate strategist Brian Frye rehearsed exciting news about Mission Ohio collegiate advancement. “Engage 24” gained national exposure as collegians shared the Gospel 101112: October 11. Jack Helton, Evangelism Resource Group leader interviewed Pastor Tom Pendergrass concerning church evangelism activities and events. While many things are changing in today’s world, lostness remains. The Gospel message doesn’t change, because it is the power of God to salvation and the only message of salvation: session two. Second Vice-President James Edwards presided over session three: “An Unchanging Motive in a Changing World” Thursday morning. Ryan Hoselton gave the Southern Baptist seminaries report. Kent Spann addressed the possible upcoming ballot challenge to traditional marriage as defined by the Bible. Trustee Steve Long with the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission spoke after a video presentation from the Commission President Richard Land. Vice-President Tom Hellams reported on the work of LifeWay and gave a present to President Mike Wilson. greeting from Kevin Ezell, the president of the North American Mission Board. Session three continued with the Mission Council report. The highlight of the report featured the note burning for the Antares property. In 2011, the Mission Council authorized the lease of mineral rights on the Seneca Lake Assembly property to the Shell Oil Company. When Shell allowed the contract to expire, Antero Oil Company entered into an agreement with the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio and paid $997,000.00. The Mission Council authorized the use of these funds for the retirement of the debt on the Antares property and the replenishment of reserves that had been used for the improvements at Seneca Lake. After the note burning, the messengers adopted the 2012-13 mission budget and elected Mike Wilson to a second term as president of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio. Mike Wilson is the pastor of the Lincoln Heights Baptist Church in Mansfield, Ohio. Guy Morton received the 2012 Darty Stowe Award in absentia due to his recuperation from illness. His son-in-law Cliff Morris received the award on his behalf from Steve Hopkins. Steve Hopkins and Dwayne Lee led the “Unchanging Motive in a Changing World” for session three. In so doing, they offered opportunities for churches to discover the next factor in presenting Christ, promoting growth, and planting churches such as Vacation Bible School, Leadership expansion, church health assessment, sponsoring church starts, and more. Messengers applauded Julia Bonifield, na-
tional Bible drill winner and a member of the Kettering First Baptist Church in the Greater Dayton Association. Next, messengers reelected Mark Stinson as first vice president. Mark Stinson is the pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Cambridge, Ohio. David Starry, pastor of Vandalia First Baptist Church, delivered the annual sermon. He preached on “Living from Christ” from Romans 12: 1-2. He exhorted the messengers to give their Lord a whole life of sacrifice and worship based upon the mercy of God and a quality inside out transformed life. This is the unchanging motive in a changing world for Christians. Session four “An Unchanging Master in a Changing World” included the reelection of James Edwards as second Vice President. James Edwards is the pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Bedford Heights, Ohio. Messengers also reelected Faye Rodgers as recording secretary, Annett Dessecker as assistant recording secretary, and Jack Kwok as historian. In addition to the election of officers, messengers received important mission reports. Tom Elliff, president of the Southern Baptist International Mission Board, addressed the messengers through a video presentation. Frank Page, Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Baptist Executive Committee, reported on the work of the Executive Committee and issued the 1% challenge for the Cooperative Mission Program. They recognized the 44 new church starts and presented a Church Planting Achievement Award to Jim Mayes upon his retirement. Jim Mayes has served as the Associational Missionary for the Buckeye Erie Association. During his tenure, the number of churches has doubled in the association. The final business session of the annual meeting included the election of Mission Council members and the preacher for the 2013 annual meeting: Rick Williams, the pastor of Violet Baptist Church in Pickerington and Rick Shoemaker the alternate, pastor of New Carlisle First Baptist Church. Messengers approved the date of November 6-7, 2013 for the next annual meeting and the French Quarter Holiday Inn in Perrysburg for the annual meeting site. Adoption of resolutions completed the business session. Mike O’Bryant, pastor of Bloom Baptist Church in the Metro Columbus Association served as chair. The State Convention of Baptists in Ohio website www.scbo.org lists all the adopted resolutions. Shawn Durroughs gave the Guidestone report. He introduced a video presentation from O. S. messengers to worship and celebrate “Mission Ohio: An Unchanging Mission in a Changing World.” President Mike Wilson introduced Pastor Fred Luter, Jr. the president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Pastor Luter preached the final message of the convention “The Transforming Power of the Gospel” from Romans 1:16-17. He proclaimed that the Gospel is Personal, Powerful, Practical, and Persistent. The Holy Spirit moved among the messengers and guests as Pastor Luter challenged them to share the Gospel with a lost and dying world. Pastor Luter communicated the essence of the “Mission Ohio: An Unchanging Mission in a Changing World” theme chosen by President Mike Wilson. The program committee chaired by Stephen Carter, pastor of North Eaton Baptist Church in the Northcoast Association, did an excellent job in coordinating the schedule and participants. Larry Lambes, pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church in the Miami Valley Association, led the credentials committee to assist messengers with registration. Parliamentarians Dave Hill and Chris Rhodes assisted the messengers as they deliberated resolutions and business. Linnett Snodgrass and Dave Warton rendered invaluable assistance in the selection, arrangements, and coordination for the 59th annual meeting. State Convention of Baptists in Ohio president Mike Wilson gaveled the 59th annual meeting to a close. He challenged messengers and guests to remain faithful to “Mission Ohio: An Unchanging Mission in a Changing World.”

Men’s Summit By Mark Daubenmire Fatherless homes are growing at an alarming rate. Currently, twenty-four million children live without their biological fathers, resulting in some devastating consequences. These children are: • 15.3 times more likely to have behavioral disorders • 4.6 times more likely to commit suicide • 6.6 times more likely to become teenage mothers • 24.3 times more likely to run away • 6.3 times more likely to be in state-operated institutions • 10.8 times more likely to commit rape • 6.6 times more likely to drop out of school • 15.3 times more likely to end up in prison while a teenage While these figures are very disturbing, don’t be fooled into thinking that just because a Dad is in the home, everything is alright. Guys, the Lord has assigned us the headship of raising our children. “Headship” means that in the marriage relationship, the husband has the God-ordained authority and primary responsibility to lead the family.
The enemy is working overtime to destroy the family by alienating the relationship between husbands and wives and severing the relationship between the fathers and children. If there was ever a time for men and youth to come together, it’s NOW. Urbancrest Baptist Church would like to extend a call to all men and youth boys to join us for the Men’s Summit on January 25-26, 2013 in Lebanon, Ohio. Guest speakers include Joe T. Veal, evangelist with You Turn Ministries, Joshua Lenon, lead pastor at Red Door Church, and Carl Kerby, president and founder of Reasons for Hope. The cost for the Summit is $5.00 (includes Friday evening dinner and Saturday morning breakfast). The Men’s Summit partners with the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio (SCBO) and continues to expand throughout the Tri-State area. If you would like to attend the Men’s Summit, register yourself or your group by visiting www.urbancrest. org/mens-summit. The deadline for registration is January 22 and is limited to 1000 participants. Deaf interpretation is provided. Ohio Baptist Foundation
The Vision of the Ohio Baptist Foundation is to be a spiritual growing Trust entity that helps empower the starting and strengthening of congregations to fulfill the Great Commission. Our Mission is to serve as a fiduciary resource ministry, administer the growth and distribution of our funds with integrity, and to promote perpetual stewardships through endowments. Currently the OBF manages more than $1.9 million in assets. Those assets encompass 71 funds (both restricted and unrestricted) that serve ministries in Ohio, North America, and around the world. Thus far in 2012 our assets have appreciated in value more than $116,000, thanks to our generous donors and our practical investment strategies. In 2013 the OBF will launch an endowment initiative entitled Give365. The proceeds from this initiative will benefit Christian ministries and Southern Baptist churches that make requests from our General Fund. The initiative is both a challenge and encouragement, asking everyone to give God His proper portion of their time, talent, and treasures every day of 2013. In addition, the endowment initiative
is asking 365 individual donors/churches to prayerfully consider making a $365 gift to the Foundation General Fund in 2013. Won’t you be the first to invest in the Kingdom of God through this worthy endeavor? Your tax-deductible gift can be sent to The Ohio Baptist Foundation, 9000 Antares Ave, Columbus, OH 43240. Let me take this opportunity to also remind you that the OBF has an on-going relationship with the Louisiana Baptist Foundation in relation to your church’s current savings accounts. Currently the Short Term Fund is returning .36% annual earnings. That is better than most bank checking or savings accounts. Also, with that rate of return you get 100% accessibility to your money, with no minimum investment amount, and no penalty for any and all withdrawals. In closing remember that the Ohio Baptist Foundation “Invests in Those Investing in God’s Kingdom.” Please contact me if I can assist you with your personal estate planning needs, your church savings accounts, or your charitable wishes! Parsons Baptist Church: Celebrating 50 Years of Ministry By Amy Blake Parsons Baptist Church, 3930 Parsons Avenue, Columbus, Ohio, celebrated fifty years of Gospel ministry on October 20-21, 2012. On Saturday morning, Cruise for Christ kicked off the weekend with a motorcycle ride. That afternoon, members past and present enjoyed a delicious hog roast/potluck meal, courtesy of Dave Ellis and current PBC members, followed by a 50th Celebration Service to thank God for PBC’s past. Led by Current Worship Leader Thom Baker, the Alumni Praise Team accompanied the congregational singing, beginning with “The Doxology.” Current Senior Pastor Charles Blake read the words of “I Love
Thy Kingdom, Lord,” the first hymn sung by PBC at its organizational service half a century ago. Then he recognized workers past and present and offered thanks to God that PBC has shared the Gospel for fifty years and continues to share Christ with those in need of a Savior. Former Pastor Terry Jesse reminisced about PBC’s fellowship centered around the Gospel. Bruce Smith, Associate Executive Director for the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio, presented a congratulatory plaque to PBC. Metro Columbus Baptist Association Director of Missions Rich Halcombe offered greetings to PBC from her sister churches. Founding Pastor Larry Lewis spoke of PBC’s beginnings and his five years as her pastor. He
shared from Philippians 1:3-6 and offered five essentials for PBC to continue being blessed in ministry: that PBC love the Bible, love and evangelize souls, love her pastor, love one another, and love Jesus. The celebration continued Sunday morning with PBC’s regular Small Group Bible Studies. During the Worship Celebration, which focused on PBC’s present, Thom Baker and the Alumni Praise Team led the congregation in songs of praise. Pastor Larry Lewis read Colossians 2:8-15 and updated the congregation on his life and sixty years in the ministry. Current PBC member Justin Baker offered his testimony about what PBC means to him and his bride, Kattie. Former Minister of Music Steve Geyer

read Jeremiah 23:5-6. Pastor Charles Blake preached “The Message of the Church” from 1 Corinthians 1:18-31, stressing that despite how many today dismiss the message of the Gospel as foolish and seek satisfaction elsewhere, PBC must continue to preach Christ crucified in order to be a church that is well-pleasing to God. Following was a fellowship meal and a Wrap-Up Service, with an emphasis on the future of PBC. Current Associate Pastor Jeremy Mollenkopf read 1 John 4:7-12 and exhorted PBC members to love one an-
other so that others may know they love God. Pastor Charles Blake read John 17 and offered “Seven Secrets to Faithfulness for the Next 50 to 500 Years.” He encouraged the church to focus on the glory of God, to be a people of prayer, to be a people of the Book, to evangelize the lost, to live faithfully in the world, to live in Christian love and unity, and to long for eternity with Jesus. To close out the weekend, the congregation sang “The Doxology” in celebration of God’s faithfulness to Parsons Baptist Church in the past, present, and future.

Sunday School on the Road
November 9-17, 2012, SCBO partnered with the Alaska State Convention to train and encourage Sunday School leaders in Alaska. The SCBO team consisted of Dwayne Lee, Wendy Hammock, Charlotte Barbo, Tim Binns, and Steve Long. Our team traveled as far north as Fairbanks (which averaged around 0 degrees but got as low as 17 below). We spent three days in Anchorage before traveling further south to Soldotna, then on to Juneau. At each destination we met some great people who have a heart for Sunday School, and who want to grow in this area of service. We used the book “Missionary Sunday School” written by David Francis to challenge these leaders to look at
their classes with the perspective of the eyes of a missionary, training other missionaries for the field. They were asked to focus on the one mission “Transformation” and watch that unfold in the lives of their students, community and culture. We are challenged to use our story and show people that our story is not complete until it intersects with His story. We must understand that it is for everyone. Every people group; including the unreached people groups in our communities. It was a great time of fellowship with our Alaskan brothers and sisters in Christ. We enjoyed hearing their stories, sharing their struggles, and rejoicing in their victories. Their desire to live out what God has commanded in His Word, and to discover ways to
help others do the same was a blessing to all of us. We are very grateful for the partnerships that we have in our state and across the country. Thank you for giving to the Cooperative Program. Your contribution helps make training events like this possible. Because of you, we were able to help many churches in Alaska. It is our prayer that we may be able to see people transformed because they have been introduced to His story. May we not be ashamed to take His story to all people groups. Let’s be a Missionary Sunday School. In His Service, Dwayne Lee Associate Leader, Bible Teaching / Leadership Resource Group

Several years ago, Abundant Life Community Church asked the question, “If we ceased to exist, would the community around us miss us?” They realized that most people in the community did not even know they were there. Over the next few years, the church began to be salt and light in their world and one of the biggest things they did was create Fundamental Camps. In order to serve the community, each summer Abundant Life Community Church produces five free weeks of camps for kids covering theatre and five sports and Vacation Bible School. The camps are: Theatre, Soccer, Basketball, Football/ Baseball/Cheerleading, and
Vacation Bible School. Many of the kids who come to sports camps sign up for VBS at the end of the summer. In the last two years, I have joined with Abundant Life Community Church as we have been in the process of launching a new church in the neighboring suburb of Strongsville - LifePoint Church. The camps have become a tool to assist in reaching families for the new church as well as serving Strongsville. Every summer, several mission teams have partnered with Abundant Life Community Church to help produce these camps, including one church that came for four straight years to assist in producing Vacation Bible School. In 2011, we had three summer missionaries assist us in proVBS ~ Continued on Page 12

Women’s 2012 Ray Robert’s Season of Prayer for State Missions Praise Report: To our dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, there is no way to fully express how much your prayers mean to us. We are so happy to tell you that your prayers regarding us finding a place to live within our community of Castalia, Ohio have been answered! The Lord has been so good to us in providing a house that felt like home the moment we stepped into the door. The landlady told us it would be a few days before we would know because she had many other people desiring to rent it. However, she called within hours that same day and said she just had “the feeling” that she was supposed to rent it to us. When His people pray, God moves! Our children have adjusted so easily to a new home and a new school that we know there are many fervently praying for us. Thank you again so very much for keeping us in your prayers and please know that we thank God often for each of you. With love in Jesus, Gene and Shirley Smith Cold Creek Community Church

Resolution #3 In Support of the Cooperative Program Whereas, The Cooperative Program has offered a partnership strategy that supports mission work at the local, state, national, and international levels and has been the primary means of partnership support for Southern Baptists since 1925, and Whereas, The Cooperative Program provides balanced support for all mission and disciple making endeavors at home in Ohio and throughout the world; and Whereas, The Cooperative Program serves as a vehicle to assist Southern Baptist churches in fulfilling the Great Commission, and Whereas, Cooperative Program gifts of cooperating churches support the Mission Ohio effort to attain at least 1,000,000 believers in 2020 churches by 2020; and Whereas, The Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention has encouraged churches to increase their Cooperative Giving gifts by one percent each year; be it therefore Resolved, That the messengers of the 59th Annual Meeting of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio meeting in Sandusky, Ohio, affirm the SBC Executive Committee challenge and encourage churches to increase their Cooperative Program gifts by one percent to enhance Great Commission cooperative mission efforts; and be it further Resolved, That we express appreciation to the many churches that have faithfully and sacrificially given to the Cooperative Program; and be it further Resolved, That we affirm that the Cooperative Program provides an effective, efficient means of mission partnership to reach the unreached
and make disciples for Christ through starting churches, strengthening churches, and developing leaders across the state and the nation and around the world.
Resolution #4 Affirmation of Partnership with the North American Mission Board Whereas, The State Convention of Baptists in Ohio has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with the Home Mission Board and the North American Mission Board since the 1950’s; and Whereas, The partnership of the North American Mission Board has provided strong
assistance in the starting of churches across Ohio; and Whereas, Leadership of the North American Mission Board heard and responded to concerns voiced in a resolution of the 58th Annual Meeting of the State Convention of Baptists in Ohio; and Whereas, The North American Mission Board earlier requested that the ratio of joint funding move from the current 62% NAMB and 38% Ohio ratio to a 55% NAMB and 45% Ohio ratio and later to a 50/50 ratio; and Whereas, The North American Mission Board recently revisited the calculation of jointly funded ratios and determined
to move those ratios to a financial basis of Cooperative Program gifts utilized within a state; and Whereas, The new calculations for the joint funding ratio which moved to a 75% NAMB and 25% Ohio ratio in 2013 are beneficial for Ohio by eliminating the earlier announced additional budget reduction from NAMB; and Whereas, the millions of lost people in the state places Ohio as an under-reached and underserved area for the gospel of Christ; and Whereas, Missionaries of the North American Mission Board continue to serve as an
The SBC resolution as adopted at the June 2012 SBC Convention: ON “SAME-SEX MARRIAGE” AND CIVIL RIGHTS RHETORIC WHEREAS, Marriage is a covenant relationship and an institution established by God rather than simply a human social construct (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6; Ephesians 5:22–33); and WHEREAS, Southern Baptists have consistently affirmed our support of the biblical definition of marriage as the exclusive union of one man and one woman; and WHEREAS, The Scriptures indicate that all sexual behavior outside of marriage is sinful; and WHEREAS, All people, regardless of race or sexual orientation, are created in the image of God and thus are due respect and love (Genesis 1:26–27); and WHEREAS, The Department of Justice has argued (Perry v. Schwarzenegger) that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional claiming that DOMA unfairly discriminates against homosexuals; and WHEREAS, For the first time in history the President of the United States has publicly voiced his personal support of “same-sex marriage”; and WHEREAS, While homosexuality does not present the distinguishing features of classes entitled to special protections, like the classes of race and gender, we acknowledge the unique struggles experienced by homosexuals in some parts of society; and WHEREAS, It is regrettable that homosexual rights activists and those who are promoting the recognition of “same-sex marriage” have misappropriated the rhetoric of the Civil Rights Movement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the messengers to the Southern Baptist Convention meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana, June
19–20, 2012, oppose any attempt to frame “same-sex marriage” as a civil rights issue; and be it further RESOLVED, That we deny that the effort to legalize “same-sex marriage” qualifies as a civil rights issue since homosexuality does not qualify as a class meriting special protections, like race and gender; and be it further RESOLVED, That we encourage Southern Baptists everywhere to fight for the civil rights of all people where such rights are consistent with the righteousness of God; and be it further RESOLVED, That we express our love to those who struggle with same-sex attraction and who are engaged in the homosexual lifestyle; and be it further RESOLVED, That we stand against any form of gay-bashing, whether disrespectful attitudes, hateful rhetoric, or hate-incited actions toward persons who engage in acts of homosexuality; and be it further RESOLVED, That we affirm that pastors should preach the truth of God’s word on human sexuality, marriage, purity, and love with all boldness and without fear of reprisal; and be it further RESOLVED, That we encourage our fellow Southern Baptists to consider how they and their churches might engage in compassionate, redemptive ministry to those who struggle with homosexuality; and be it finally RESOLVED, That we proclaim that Christ offers forgiveness of sin for those who turn from their sins and believe on Christ for the forgiveness of sin.

How to become a
Christian If you are not a Christian, have never surrendered your will to the Lord Jesus, let me share briefly how you can make this life changing decision. GOD WANTS YOU SAVED. First, you must believe that God loves you and wants you to have peace in your heart and an everlasting life (John 3:16). Second, you must recognize that you are a sinner, that you have done things which have displeased God and that you have separated yourself from Him (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Third, you must believe that Jesus came to this earth, was actually God in the flesh, lived a perfect life, and yet went to a cruel cross, dying for your sins, paying once and for all the penalty of sin (I Peter 2:24). However, it’s
not enough just to know these three things. Many of us knew them for years before we ever gave Jesus our lives. Fourth, you must personally ask Jesus to come into your life and forgive you of your sins (Revelation 3:20). You can pray this prayer now and if you mean it with all of your heart, Jesus will come in just like He said. He cannot lie. Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I’m really sorry for my sins, Lord. I ask you now, Lord Jesus, to come into my heart, forgive me of my sins, take control of my life, and make me the kind of person You want me to be. I now receive You into my heart. Thank You for coming in. I will follow You all the days of my life. In Your name I pray, Amen.

VBS ~ Continued from Page 6 ducing the camps. In 2012, we had two semester missionaries and four summer missionaries assisting. The church’s youth group has also grown in the last few years and the youth volunteers for the camps have grown. As we were making plans for the summer, we got word that we were not getting a mission team for VBS this year. As a matter of fact, we were only going to have one mission team assist us with camps. As we
prayed and planned, we knew that God was going to help us have a great camp season. We knew that our greatest challenge would be Vacation Bible School. We began the search for assistance with curriculum and decorations and servants. With the assistance of four missionaries and six adults, we staffed the key leader roles. We then had 20 teenagers fill out other team roles. The State Convention and a local church as well as a partner
church from another state provided curriculum and decorations. Our summer missionaries built a Volcano and an Airplane, and we all worked together to produce an awesome VBS! God was so gracious to us and we give Him all the glory. I wanted to share our story with you to let you know that God can do amazing things through your church! So get on the roller coaster ride this summer with Colossal Coaster World VBS!
