GLASS HOUSE MOUNTAINS & BRIBIE ISLAND

A day trip that can turn to overnight stays Head up the Bruce Highway to Caboolture, take the turnoff to the D’Aguillar Highway in the direction of Woodford. The road travels through agricultural land with Wamuran being well known for growing pineapples and strawberries. In keeping with Woodford’s art and craft culture the annual Woodford Folk Festival attracts 125,000 visitors, one of Australia’s largest festivals. Not far out of Woodford is the turnoff to Beerwah. Travel through pleasant farming land and the village of Peachester before arriving at Beerwah. Beerwah is famous because of its proximity to Australia Zoo. Turn south from Beerwah along the Steve Irwin

Way for spectacular views of the Glass House Mountains. Shortly after the Steve Irwin Way joins the Bruce Highway turnoff to Bribie Island. Drive through the small towns of Ningi and Bongaree and cross Pumicestone Passage by bridge to Bribie Island. You’ll find so much on Bribie including surf beaches, calm water beaches, fishing, boating, fourwheel driving, camping and golfing. It’s a short drive back to Brisbane returning to the Bruce Highway and south to the city.
