CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2022

Emirates Golf Club hosted the annual Club Championship which saw 78 Gentlemen and 19 Ladies compete on The Faldo and Majlis Course in a 36 Hole Gross Medal Format. The defending Men’s Champion was Graham Pascal and for the Ladies section Glory Xavier.

The 2022 Gents Club Champion for the second time is Sanjay Dhandsa who scored 151 (+7 par) over the Faldo and Majlis Course. Sanjay showed great determination and perseverance as he started slowly on the front 9 of both rounds. It was extremely tight at the top of the leaderboard on the back 9 of the final round. Sanjay managed to play the last 6 holes in level par. Congratulations Sanjay!
Runner up in the Gents Club Championship was Kooros Daneshvar with a total of 152 (+8 par). Kooros played some exceptional Golf over the two days. Most notably on the Faldo course where he managed to hit 17 out of 18 greens. It was a very good effort over the two days just missing out on the overall prize. Third place in the Gents Club Championship was Raghav Gulati with a total of 154 (+10 par). An exceptional 73 around Faldo, placed Raghav in lead position after day 1. It seemed a tough second day for Raghav, finding it very hard on the front 9. Yet, he re-found his golfing ability on the back 9 of the Majlis coming home in level par with 4 gross birdies.
Winner of the Gents Division A was Gary Black with a Net total of 143 (-1 par). Most notable was the 5 net
birdies Gary found on the Faldo course and the 8 consecutive Net pars to finish his Majlis Back 9. The only player to score under par over the two rounds in the Gents and Ladies section. Congratulations Gary! Runner up in the Gents Division A was Paul Byrne with a Net total of 145 (+1 par). It was a respectable Net 74 on day 1 for Paul. On day 2, he clearly got the putter working more with a Net 71 (-1 par). Most notable was Paul’s Net eagle on hole 5.
Winner of the Gents Division B was Arkady Fosman with a Net total of 149 (+5 par). A scorecard inspection was required to determine the winner of Division B. A better back 9 was enough for Arkady to top the division with a level par Net back 9.
Runner up in the Gents Division B was George Clarke with a Net total of 149 (+5 par). George’s highlight of the round comes from Net birdies on the difficult hole 12 and 14.Best Gross day one in the Gents section was won by James Yeomans with a 75 (+3 par). James’s found himself in great form through holes 5 to 15 where he played -3.
Best Gross day two in the Gents section was won by Rohit Gupta with an 80 (+8 par). It was yet another difficult day on the Majlis. Rohit played consistent
Golf through out his game, most noticeably on the back 9 where he played 39 (+3 par). Best net day one in the Gents section was won by Jignesh Sangani with an impressive Net 67 (-5 par). Jignesh found great form on the Front 9 playing -4 his handicap.
Best net day two in the Gents section was won by Westley Burke with a Net 72 (level par). On a difficult day on the Majlis even par is very good score and it required Wes to make a net eagle on hole 18 to achieve it. Runner up in the Ladies
Club Championship was
Naima Maya with a total of 167 (+23 par). In tough conditions
Naima’s highlight was on the
Majlis course finding gross birdies on holes 7 and 10. Naima really applied the pressure to Glory making it an exciting contest on the back 9 of the final round.
Winner of the Silver Net Division was Anne Gely Bouigue with a total Net of 157 (+13 par). Over a long difficult weekend over the two courses Anne posted 2 respectable Net rounds. Winner of the Bronze Net Division was Nicsha Rodriguez who scored a total Net of 152 (+8 par). Nicsha’s highlight comes from the Majlis course particularly on the back 9 with Net birdies on 13 and 15.
Best Gross day one in the Ladies section was Arathi Appaiah with an 83 (+11 par). Arathi played exceptional Golf for most of the game. Most noticeable was the 5 pars Arathi opened her round with. Best Gross day two in the Ladies section was Jayshree Gupta with an 89 (+17 par). Jayshree managed to make par on the difficult hole 8. Best Net day one in the Ladies section was Maura Duggan with a 76 (+4). It required a scorecard inspection to settle this prize, with Maura having the Better Back 6.
Best Net day two in the Ladies section was Sitong Fan with a 78 (+6 par). Sitong finished her round strong with 2 net birdies on holes 16 and 17.
