It has been an extermely hectic season over the last two months and as we gradually move into summer, I would like to share of few of our experiences and talk about the upcoming trip to Kenya.
Dear Members,
With a flurry of events over the season, the Men’s captain’s day was a successful day for club captain, Abdulfatah with a packed field of over 120 members playing. My captain’s day event was a also a huge success and thank you to all the ladies who participated and contributed in any way at all as they made it even more special for me. The memories of the “Rumba” after party at the Majlis will linger on for many a year to come and all I can say is the comradery at Emirates Golf Club is unmatched! The club management and catering team were also spectacular.
Thereafter, the Easter scramble and usual medals were great fun events as were the challenge matches we played against the other clubs. The ICC Tournaments are always very competitive and exciting and making it to the finals was commendable to all the ladies that participated in the three games that led upto the finals. The “Clash of the Titans” is still ongoing and I would like to wish all the participants all the best.
Next, congratulations to the Rest of the World team for retaining the Curtisy Cup and it was a hard fought victory which proved both sides were equally matched. Ninu Smith capatined the ROW team and Michele Karlsson captained Europe. Both ladies did an outstanding job and congatulations to all who participated.
The member’s party was a resounding success with it being held in the open grounds for the first time to accommodate over 750 members who were all eager to enjoy the James Bond theme. The fact that this was the first party in two years was also more the reason for all members to attend! I must admit that this venue is amazing as was the spread of food and delicasies that the culinary teams had laid out!
Now to the upcoming Kenyan trip on the 10th of May, which I am sure all who are going, are excited about. It is home territory for me (although I have not had the chance to be back for almost two years) and am sure the experience of playing golf combined with some wildlife game watching will be a memorable one! Ladies, the best is all about savouring a very natural landscape and accepting a totally different environment and culture than what we have become accustomed to in the UAE. For those of you coming for the first time, it certainly won’t be the last!
I wish all members safe travels and a great summer!
