The winner of the green jacket specially made by Suited & Booted posting a score of 69 (-3) was Yash Majmudar. Yash played some outstanding golf, scoring on the front nine 35 and back in 34. His round included five birdies and an eagle on hole 15 where he nearly got a hole in one.
The much-anticipated Jumeirah Golf Estates Masters Championship was played on Sunday 10th April over the Earth Course. Altogether 115 players competed in Jumeirah Golf Estates very own major in an afternoon shotgun on Masters Sunday.
Stuart Horwood the Golf Course Superintendent, and his team set the golf course up in wonderful condition for the event. There were a mix of friendly and unfriendly pins and fast paced greens that the golfers had to deal with. The weather was beautiful making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all competitors. The scoring in the Masters Championship was excellent considering the challenging but fair conditions the course was set up in. The runner-up in the gross prize narrowly missing out by two strokes was Drew Foxcroft with an excellent 1 under par. Drew played some lovely golf having a run of 4 consecutive birdies from hole 14 to 17.
Finishing in third place was David Bainbridge with a score of level par and in fourth place with 3 over par was Raghav Gulati.
The winner of the Stableford prize was James Leeman who scored 42 points, James scored a terrific 23 points on the front nine and came back in 19 points to claim the victory.
Runner-up in the stableford just 1 point behind the leader was Peter Sharpe with an impressive 41 points. Peter played some unbelievable golf having a notable birdie on the 8th hole which was worth a whopping 5 points.
Finishing in third place was David Warham with a score of 40 points and in fourth place with 38 points was Sam Douglas.
We also had nearest the pin prizes on all the par 3’s and nearest the pin in two and three on selected holes. The first was a nearest the pin in 3 on the 2nd hole was won by James Leeman. The next on-course prize was a nearest the pin on hole 4 was won with a lovely shot by Irem Aksay.
There was a nearest the pin on the 6th hole was won with a wonderful shot by Rhys Watson. The next nearest the pin was on hole 13 was won with a terrific shot by Kieran Casey. There was a nearest the pin in 2 on hole 14 won by Gokul Mani. The next nearest the pin in 2 was on hole 16 was won by Tom Purdy. The final nearest the pin was on the 17th hole was won with a superb shot to a tightly tucked pin by Brett Kraetzer.
