Faranak Shahroozi, an IranianAmerican composer and pianist who was born in Abadan, Iran, on January 22, 1966, is more than just a musical expression of her feelings. Her melodic compositions, which are frequently likened to the output of masters like Francis Lai and Nino Rota, depict a tale of ardour, tenacity, and the quest for self-expression.
When Faranak was just five years old, he first experimented with music. However, it was her family’s trips to Greece that exposed her to Greek music and culture, which kindled her musical passion. She learnt to play the piano with unrivalled intensity after being fascinated by the lyrical skill of Greek singer Demis Roussos. When her sister wed a Greek guy, her musical journey became even more entwined with her Greek heritage, turning her become a passionate fan of Greek music.
Faranak fled Iran for the US in 1984 in search of safety from the turbulent times. Her musical expressions underwent a transformational change as a result of the sudden upheaval she experienced. These adjustments reverberated throughout her works, finally drawing Preston Glass’s notice. She rose to fame and was recognised as a musical soul who touched the heartstrings of the Napa Valley, where her music became inextricably linked to the region’s cultural environment.
Trials on Faranak’s trip left their marks on her memories. She considers how her beautiful upbringing was disrupted by the Iranian Revolution and the ensuing Islamic rule. She recalls, “Life was never the same for me,” her voice heavy with the weight of recollection. Her teenage energy was eclipsed by forced conformity and restrictive rules, so she turned to her love of music for consolation. “I was a playful musician, and no one could mould me to conform,” she admits. She was able
to leave the constrictive atmosphere and accept her genuine self as a result of her parents’ choice to move her to America.
Faranak has spent her entire life pursuing her yearning for musical expression as a form of self-expression. She considers music to be more than simply a hobby; it is who she is. She excitedly exclaims, “Music is the sixth sense to me.” Since she was a little child, it has been at her side constantly, influencing her thoughts, dreams, and very being.
Faranak’s compositions have served as her emotional canvas through betrayals, grief, and difficulties in life. She started writing evocative piano tunes as a result of her split with her lover, the terrible death of her nephew in a car accident, and the accumulated trauma of growing up during a revolution and war. Her music evolved into a symbol of her tenacity, a means of coping with grief, and a way to transform adversity to art.
Faranak has a diverse range of influences on his music and composition. She adores
the beauty of music from all countries and genres, and her passion of music has no bounds. She clearly appreciates the variety of music, from the affecting Greek songs of Demis Roussos to the ethereal piano masterpieces of Yanni.
Collaborations have made a lasting impression on Faranak’s musical career. Her collaborations with the late Syreeta Wright, Stevie Wonder’s wife, stand out among them. Syreeta sang the heartbreaking song “From My Heart To Yours,” which is yet unpublished and displays Faranak’s emotional range. Her words of wisdom for aspiring artists serve as proof of her tenacity. She emphasises, “Be passionate, consistent, and extremely persistent,” exhorting them not to let rejection deter them. She has lived by the maxim “knock on doors until one opens.”
The music of Faranak Shahroozi has a bright future. She intends to keep writing, producing, and publishing songs while experimenting with covers that speak to her. Her involvement with movies is highlighted by her work on “165 Days,” a gripping tale of a kidnapped British filmmaker.
The personal narrative of Faranak Shahroozi is intertwined with her music and is one of overcoming adversity, pursuing artistic expression, and unflinching devotion to her trade. Not only do her musical compositions ring true with the notes she plays, but also with the tales she tells about love, grief, and the never-ending quest for one’s Innermost self.
Lewis Nigel Cocks, a UK citizen just 33 years old, has distinguished himself as the Deputy Curator of The National Aquarium in the United Arab Emirates. The development of the “Invasion of the Jellyfish” display under his direction is evidence of his steadfast commitment to marine education and protection.
Lewis described the exhibition’s motivation and said that the National Aquarium always works to improve its exhibits so as to better serve its visitors. The addition of more jellyfish species to our collection emphasises the increased richness of the oceans throughout the world and exemplifies our dedication to creating engaging exhibits for everyone to enjoy.
It is a mesmerizing journey through the enigmatic world of jellyfish in the exhibition “Invasion of the Jellyfish”. Lewis emphasized, “Once immersed in our Jellyfish invasion, our guests will have a chance to learn about how a jellyfish reproduces, see them feed, and why they sting. Did you know, Jellyfish are not actually a fish, but are more akin to corals and fall under the phylum Cnidaria which comes from the Greek words which means stinging nettles.”
Behind the scenes, the team faced unique challenges in creating a suitable environment for these delicate creatures. he elaborated, “A specialized aquarium known as a Kreisel is used, perfectly rounded to avoid any corners or sharp edges. This flow balance provides optimum conditions to ensure the jellyfish receive enough food!”
In addition to educating visitors about jellyfish, the exhibition promotes
awareness about their role in marine ecosystems. he explained, “The cycle of the Jellyfish is important for a lot of animals around the world, which rely on them as a food source, including other jellyfish!”
Lewis’ commitment to conservation is reflected in the aquarium’s partnership with The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi. “Our partnership with EAD is one of our most prestigious and important relationships. We have rescued over 800 sea turtles, and alongside EAD, we do not anticipate slowing down anytime soon. It has been a pleasure to make such an impact on the local wildlife with the EAD,” he noted.
With Lewis at the helm, The National Aquarium’s “Invasion of the Jellyfish” has become a beacon of inspiration for both visitors and fellow conservationists.
He summarized his journey by saying, “Our vision to keep creating new and unique exhibits is to ensure we stay as a top choice destination within the UAE for all visitors.”
As a result of Lewis Nigel Cocks’ unwavering dedication, innovative spirit, and commitment to marine conservation, The National Aquarium has been elevated and Marine Education and Conservation has been affected positively. This story exemplifies the power of one individual to make a difference in the world.

Gives Opera Classic “Nessun Dorma” a Modern Update
Middle Eastern soprano Luiza Formenius debuts her sixth single, “Nessun Dorma,” a modern interpretation of the well-known operatic aria. This innovative interpretation gives the Turandot track electronic dance elements, giving the classic work new vitality.
following the popularity of her previous song, “Parla Piu Piano,” which honored the 50th anniversary of the Godfather movie. Luiza is renowned for her unique style of reinterpreting traditional works, and her rendition of “Nessun Dorma” is no exception.
The iconic “Nessun Dorma” is a mainstay of opera, and Luciano Pavarotti’s performance of it during the 1990 World Cup in Italy helped it gain worldwide prominence. Luiza’s choice to perform this legendary song as one of the first female musicians gives its story a new angle.
“Nessun Dorma’ is one of those timeless pieces that evoke emotion and memories for many. I wanted to breathe new life into it by offering a unique perspective, and by being one of the first female artists to do so,” Luiza expressed.
in the music video for the song, giving the interpretation a visual component. Because of her wide range of musical inspirations, such as Celine Dion, Elvis Presley, Maria Callas, and Andrea Bocelli, Luiza can merge genres with ease. She developed her particular sound as a result of her background in a family that valued opera and classical music as well as her affinity with rock icons like Elvis and QueenLuiza has often performed well-known works like Carmen, Tosca, and West Side Story, further solidifying her reputation as a flexible and creative performer. She is a forerunner in breaking musical limits thanks to her ability to seamlessly combine classical foundations with modern sounds.
Luiza Formenius is a brilliant example of how musicians may retain the core of classical works while giving them a contemporary spin at a time when musical borders are becoming more permeable. Another example of her ability to unite two seemingly unrelated realms is seen in “Nessun Dorma.” Luiza’s singular blending of classical and modern sounds will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on the industry as she continues to reinvent the musical landscape
Luiza Formenius has once more proven that she possesses a special talent for bridging the gap between classical and contemporary music. Her most recent song, “Nessun Dorma,” reimagines Turandot from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot from 1926 while maintaining its originality.
This is Luiza’s sixth single to be released,
‘Nessun Dorma’ was produced in Stockholm, Sweden, and was given an electronic makeover by producer Erik Lewander at the Kennel. The end product is a modern rendition that appeals to fans of both classical music and contemporary music.
Despite its bold approach, Luiza’s version stays true to the original song’s spirit, making sure that its well-known components are not lost. The Turandot love story is given an edgy creative twist

Guardian Angel of Strays
Abandoned Animals in Abu Dhabi
Meet Jonathan Corporal Sibol, a passionate animal rescuer and animal lover from the Philippines who is presently staying in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He is 34 years old. Jonathan has worked as an animal rescuer for nine years, and because of his dedication and love, Abu Dhabi has named him an animal trainer, dog walker, and sitter.
When Jonathan saw a bunch of famished and undernourished stray cats trying to live on the streets in 2014, he decided to become an animal rescuer. He made the decision to act on his own initiative since he could not sit by helplessly. He began giving these vulnerable animals food and drink, but quickly saw that more needed to be done to guarantee their welfare.
Jonathan joined a stray cat organisation in Abu Dhabi because he was compassionate and wanted to learn more about the TNR method, which stands for Trap, Neuter, and Release. By spaying and neutering the cats, this strategy attempted to reduce the number of stray cats on the streets. His catchphrase was “Adopt, don’t shop,” encouraging people to take in stray animals instead of purchasing pets from pet stores.
Although Jonathan’s path as an animal rescuer has been difficult at times, the benefits have been priceless. The biggest obstacles come from illiterate people who have preconceived notions about stray cats and believe that they are unclean and diseased. His full-time job and the obligations of looking after a lot of stray animals may also be physically and mentally taxing.
Despite the difficulties, Jonathan treasures the times when he is able to save a stray animal in need of immediate medical assistance. He brings them to the doctor, watches them heal, and finally finds them loving foster or adoptive homes. Finding a lasting home for these abandoned kitties is a touching accomplishment.
The hot summer in Dubai, with highs of 40 to 50 degrees, is particularly difficult for stray animals. In order to give them access to cold, clean water, Jonathan deliberately arranges ceramic bowls filled with water in various areas. Additionally, he gives them easy-to-digest moist food to help them survive the chilly winter. Through the use of social media, Jonathan spreads knowledge and creates awareness about TNR and ethical pet adoption. His writings highlight the value of showing pets love and care and provide wonderful tales of rescued animals. He exhorts people to treat all living things with kindness, reverence, and compassion.
Government organisations like Tadweer, which aid in catching stray cats for neutering and population control in Abu Dhabi, are essential to TNR initiatives. Jonathan also advises becoming involved with organisations like UAE Stray Animals, Stray Abu Dhabi, Filipino Street Paws, and Dubai Cats to further the cause.
Jonathan’s message to all is simplerespect all living creatures, including animals and mother nature. Be kind and spread love, as every stray animal deserves a chance to be loved and
respected. They need a home and a voice, and as animal rescuers, it is our duty to advocate for the voiceless.
Jonathan Corporal Sibol is a role model for compassion and altruism. Let’s work together to improve the planet for all living things, especially the helpless ones, as he continues his quest to rescue and defend stray animals. Salutations to all animal rescues, the unsung heroes of kindness and understanding.
The Young Pianist Composing His Way to Success
Stelios Kerasidis, a young prodigy born in Athens, has captivated audiences with his extraordinary talent for playing the piano and composing beautiful melodies. At the age of just nine, he has already achieved remarkable milestones in his musical journey, receiving critical acclaim for his compositions and earning recognition such as the prestigious Giuseppe Sciacca International Award for Music 2022.
In a recent interview with Vassilios Nicolaos Vitsilogiannis, Stelios shared his passion for music and the inspiration behind his compositions. When asked about his young age and playing the piano professionally, Stelios humbly responded, “Despite what I have achieved, I do not feel like a professional. I am a kid who loves music and with many hours of practice and perseverance, I try to reach a high level. I’m glad people love my music and come to my concerts!”
Stelios credits his parents, both pianists and music teachers, for introducing him to the world of music. Watching his father play the piano sparked his curiosity and led him to explore the instrument. However, Stelios has also found his own unique way of expressing his emotions through music, creating compositions that reflect his own feelings and concerns.
One of his notable compositions, “The Waltz of Isolation,” was inspired by the challenging period of quarantine that the world experienced. Stelios felt compelled to compose a melody dedicated to those who lost loved ones, aiming to provide courage and strength. Little did he know that his music would resonate with audiences worldwide.
Despite his young age, Stelios has already performed in historic and culturally significant venues, such as the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the columns
of Olympian Zeus. Reflecting on these experiences, he expressed his awe and gratitude, stating that playing in such places is the most important aspect for him.
Looking towards the future, Stelios admires great composers like Bach and Chopin, although collaborating with them at this stage may be a challenge. Balancing his piano studies with other activities, Stelios makes time for hobbies, friendships, and enjoying the simple joys of being a child.
As for his dreams, Stelios holds a compassionate spirit. His three wishes, if granted by a magic lamp, would be to end child hunger, make pianos accessible in schools and homes worldwide, and transform winter into a perpetual summer.
Airline aisles to spotlight smiles:
“I have plenty of dreams, and I’m glad to say that I never give up on things. Whatever I visualize and focus on, I get it. I’m always inspired to reach my dream through my goals and vision.”
Wim Hoste, a Belgian national who has lived in the UAE for 17 years and has crafted a singular success tale that fuses his love of performing with his financial savvy. Wim’s journey began in the aviation sector, when he set off on a worldwide excursion that served as the starting point for his varied career.
Wim states, “I started my work with Thai Airways, then moved on to other prestigious airlines and travelled all over the world. He was nonetheless propelled beyond the sky and into the world of marketing and business by his quest for information and his willingness to investigate new opportunities. His heart was always attracted to a different stage even though he was deeply involved in oil and gas logistics in Africa.
Growing up, Wim had always yearned for the spotlight. “When I was a kid, I always wanted to be the center of attention and make people laugh,” he shares. This childhood aspiration blossomed into a full-fledged passion for singing and acting. With formal training, Wim transformed himself into a skilled entertainer who captivates audiences with his performances.
Wim emphasises that “it’s all about passion and experience.” His motivation
as a performer and presenter comes from his love for being on stage and spreading happiness. “I stage my shows, sing, and am the presenter, and it gives me a good feeling to make people happy,” he enthusiastically exclaims.
Throughout his journey, Wim has lived by a powerful motto: dream big. “When you dream small, only small things will happen,” he affirms. He also encourages others not to give up on their dreams, even in the face of judgment. “Whatever makes you happy, even if people judge you, do it because at the end of the day, it is you who will be satisfied and happy.”
But success hasn’t always been without obstacles. Wim emphasises that every challenge teaches us something. No need to dwell on your mistakes, he counsels. Even though he experienced difficulties, such as losing his voice at a young age, he learned the value of getting second opinions and taking into account suggestions that might help him improve personally.
His journey also led him to a deeper understanding of purpose and gratitude. “We always need to be grateful,” Wim reflects. He advocates finding satisfaction in life’s simplest moments, acknowledging that life has its bitter moments but focusing on the positive
can make all the difference.
Wim’s journey has been linked with Dubai’s array of options throughout. The city of opportunity is Dubai. You can fulfil your goals here; the UAE is the country of opportunity, he says. His association with the iconic Sheikh Zayed Road venue 53 Dubai has further solidified his reputation in the entertainment industry. “I am proud to be a part of 53 Dubai, still young and giving the best with a high standard of great entertainment,” he declares.
For those aspiring to achieve their dreams, Wim’s advice is simple yet profound: “Success is breaking down into goals and daily actions.” He emphasizes the importance of taking consistent actions, learning from failures, and staying motivated. And above all, he encourages individuals to follow their hearts and passions.
The path of Wim Hoste is a motivating example of the value of tenacity, embracing one’s passions, and having a positive approach. He is a living example of the notion that success comes unavoidably when you pursue what you love with unrelenting determination, from flying over the sky to commanding the stage.
