President’s Message
President’s Message
Dear Dublin Chamber Members, Spring is always a busy time of year for the Chamber, and this year is no exception. We’re gearing up now for some exciting events on the calendar, and we hope you can join us for them.
We’re enormously proud of the work that Chamber members and staff do to make sure these important events go off without a hitch. Here’s a look at some of the dates you should mark on your calendar for the coming months:
• Dublin Job, Career and Internship Fair on April 4 is a great chance for businesses to meet local high school students – over 800 attended last year – and share information about full-time, part-time, seasonal and internship positions.
• Dublin Off the Clock: After Hours on April 16 presents the opportunity to meet our 2024 Businessperson of the Year, Dr. Jeff Holowicki of Smiley Dental Group, while enjoying networking and refreshments at Leading EDJE. You can also learn more about Jeff on page 4 of this issue.
• Dublin Corporate Charity Cup on June 20 and 21 is right around the corner, too, giving businesses throughout Dublin a chance to compete in a variety of fitnessfocused, team-building competitions while benefiting local charities.
Of course, it’s not just Chamber staff and event organizers who are hard at work right now. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the dedicated and diligent work of our 2024 Leadership Dublin class, which is now in the midst of coordinating this year’s Community Service Day. This is a fantastic event that brings together volunteers of all ages to make a difference in the community – for residents in need, for older adults, for Dublin City Schools and for local nonprofits – and it’s scheduled for May 4 this year.
And while our current Leadership Dublin class is doing that, they’re also putting together their class projects, benefiting such local organizations as OhioHealth, Dublin Youth Athletics, the Dublin Historical Society and the Glitter Girls Guild. We’re always impressed with the work of Leadership Dublin, and I have no doubt we’ll be impressed this year, too.
We hope to see you at these great upcoming Chamber events, and are looking forward to watching members and the Dublin business community at work over these next few months.
Best Regards,
Mark Flesch
President

Meet Dublin’s 2024 Businessperson of the Year
Dr. Jeff Holowicki has grown with the Dublin Chamber over 20-plus years
From almost the very first day he became part of the Dublin business community, Dr. Jeff Holowicki, DDS has been involved with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
Since he began practicing at Smiley Dental Group in 2003, Holowicki has contributed to countless Chamber endeavors, up to and including a term as president. It’s a way of giving back to a community that has helped him develop
into a business leader in Dublin. His continued dedication to the Chamber and the City of Dublin as a whole has led the Chamber to name Holowicki the 2024 Businessperson of the Year.
A native of Worthington, Holowicki graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. After a brief stint volunteering with the United States Public Health Service to provide dental care to
Dublin Off the Clock: An After-Hours Networking Event
April 16, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Leading EDJE, 6415 Longshore Loop, #300
You’re invited to join us for the Dublin Off the Clock: After-Hours in April! You’ll be treated to complimentary appetizers and beverages as you network with other Chamber members and business professionals. This event, hosted by Leading EDJE at Bridge Park, honors Holowicki as 2024 Businessperson of the Year.
Indigenous residents of Bethel, Alaska as a young dentist before coming to Smiley. He hadn’t been at the practice long when he began volunteer for Chamber activities.
In 2004, one of the first things he did was register for Leadership Dublin. Not only did he graduate, he also received the President’s Award, which he would earn again in 2013.
“We have a very strong network of business representatives who really care about and serve the City of Dublin,” Holowicki says. “The Chamber really helps you connect with the community, giving you an opportunity to give back.”
Leadership Dublin had a profound effect on Holowicki, he says, helping him develop skills as a leader at his practice and in the Dublin business community at large, as well as build connections throughout the City. His appreciation for those skills and connections is a big part of the reason why he continues to look for ways to deepen his involvement in serving Dublin and its residents.
Over the years, Holowicki has served on the Chamber Board of Trustees, including a term as president in 2012. He has also volunteered for Community Service Day and the Taste of Dublin, gotten involved with outdoor cleanup projects, helped coordinate the Dublin City Schools Community Champion Awards, and attended countless Business After Hours functions. He even speaks to elementary schoolers in Dublin about the importance of good oral hygiene.

“I’ve met so many people at the Chamber’s events and programs, and many of them have become lifelong friends,” he says. Holowicki has a great deal of respect for other business leaders in the community, he says, and is proud to have been named Businessperson of the Year amid such stiff competition. He admires the work ethic and volunteerism of so many other members of the community, and appreciates Chamber
leaders’ encouragement to get more involved and take on leadership roles.
“I’m really grateful to be part of everything that goes on in Dublin,” he says.
Holowicki has been part of Smiley Dental Group for over two decades now, but the practice dates back to 1986 here in Dublin.
Holowicki points to the in-house dental lab as one of Smiley’s key advantages, allowing
it to perform top-notch restorations and precision color matching, as well as have greater quality control. But his main point of pride is his team, he says.
“I always tell people I’m only as good as the people I work with, and I work with some really amazing people,” he says.
Holowicki lives in Dublin with his wife, Kristen, a language arts teacher.
