Graphic communications for architects
How does your practice look from the outside? Are you communicating your ideas eJectively to potential clients? Do you need to improve the standard of your in-house produced communications?
Architects are increasingly required to communicate to a widening set of audiences across an expanding range of media. The digital revolution means that self-publishing technology such as page layout software, social media and web content management systems is now readily available to all. But the skill of communicating eJectively on the page – whether printed or digital – remains fundamental. We believe that design and editorial expertise is essential to harnessing the potential of new and emerging technology.
Our consultancy service is aimed at practices who want to improve the standard of their communications including: – marketing material and websites – social media presence – proposals and bids – award submissions – reports and project documentation – documentation of consultation processes – exhibitions and displays – research projects – building and scheme identities.
Benefits for your practice We provide a design review of your communications with a particular emphasis on eJective communication to win work. This process is designed to elevate and sharpen the graphic language of your practice while providing support and advice for staJ responsible for communications and submissions. As well as helping practices to extend their range of skills and knowledge, we are also focused on promoting systems in the workplace for sharing knowledge and maintaining standards and consistency. Our problem-solving, practical approach is flexible, which means you can choose the level of input you want.
Areas of focus might include: – communication of brand – typography – working with design grids and hierarchies – information design, infographics and working with data – print formats and materials – practical issues of production – working with photography, drawings, CGIs and sketches – use of colour – writing style and tone of voice – sub-editing and house style – design guidelines.
How it works First we’ll need to meet you to get a sense of your practice and its priorities, understand your objectives and gain an overview of your existing communications, as well as an understanding of your current working methods. If you are interested in working with us we’ll respond with a summary appraisal setting out areas of focus and what we think we can do to help. We may suggest input in the form of workshop groups or one-to-one consultations with staJ. Or we might suggest working on a project together so that we can develop visual design guidelines as well as templates.
