WHY ARE THEIR HULLS RED?

To prevent the harmful growth of aquatic organisms! Early sailing ships were painted with copper, giving them a red tint. Today, copper is still present in the paints used, along with other biocides.

Our library gardens are growing!

Library staff, community volunteers, and young patrons have been working to bring new life to the gardens around the Main Library!

Stop by on your next visit to see what's growing—you will find pollinator-friendly flowers and shrubs that provide habitat and even food.
