SPECIAL Olympics Dundalk

Football team had a fantastic opportunity before Easter as they took part in something that fitted right in with the recent promotion of Women in Sport by Sport Ireland.

On March 22, Special Olympics Dundalk volunteer Nazaret Diaz Escobar, organized a friendly football session with her friends from Social Ladies Soccer team. Dundalk’s football team played the Ladies at DKIT Pitches in preparation for a Special Olympics Ireland blitz to be held in Abbotstown. The lads thoroughly enjoyed the session and went on to have a very successful blitz.

Initiatives like this, changes the scope of participation for both players with disabilities and players in mainstream teams. It was a session to remember.
