Welcome to the 15th Annual Exotic Car Buyers Guide. It’s hard to believe that another year has gone by. We are especially excited about this 2017 issue which is full of stunning new performance machines representing the best in engineering and design. In the next 136 pages you will be able to see advances in horsepower, technology, styling and performance. Do you have last year’s issue handy? You won’t believe the changes, the advances and the breathtaking new concepts. I am not sure which one will be your personal favorite, but here are a few that were especially attractive to our duPont REGISTRY™ exotic car leadership group: First, the Bugatti Chiron. The successor to the Veyron, it is known as the “world’s fastest, most powerful, most luxurious and most exclusive super sports car”— 8.0-liter, W16 engine, 1,500 horsepower, combined with incredible French styling and wrapped in a new carbon fiber monocoque body. It is the uber hypercar! Second, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. This is really, really the return of American Muscle. Thanks to a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8 that is capable of turning out 707 horsepower, the Hellcat can reach almost 200 mph. Quick, fast, powerful … muscle. Even the interior is performance oriented to provide a grittier, physical driving experience. And, ohhh, those tunes. You know when a Hellcat is nearby! On-road/Off-road, number three is the all-new Bentley Bentayga. The stunning interior is all English, with hand-picked veneers, handcrafted metal elements and only the finest bull hides from cool northern climates. Turn the dial and you are on or off road, and powered by an enormous 6.0-liter, W12 engine capable of reaching 600 bhp and 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. Big, strong, and elegant – the Bentayga is for you (and it will do 187 mph top speed). Last, but certainly not least, the new Porsche 911 R. With 500 horsepower, 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, top speed of 200 mph, the 911 R is 110 pounds lighter than the GT 3 RS. The combination of high-level performance and extraordinary driver experience is especially exhibited by the 911 R’s standard rear-axle steering, which offers direct turn-in response and precise handling while remaining stable. Typical Porsche, taken to new heights, specifically for track performance. It’s meant to be driven, so it comes without air conditioning or a stereo (options are available, however.) These cars are what dreams are made of. The things that, as youngsters, we all hoped one day we would own and drive. Today, these can be more than just dreams; they can be the cars that are actually in the garage, now that we have gotten older but not necessarily grown up! Take your time. Take a look. ACURA NSX This new production model of the NSX is powered by a twinturbocharged V6 engine that provides 573 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the NSX also receives power from an all-new three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system. The extra power from the electric hybrid system makes for blistering acceleration and an estimated top speed of 191 mph. A new nine-speed dual clutch automatic transmission is paired with a direct drive hybrid motor/generator. Power is stored in a lithium-ion battery mounted low in the chassis. This energy is channeled to the front wheels by a Twin Motor Unit (TMU). Powering each front wheel independently, it can induce yaw while cornering to provide incredible lateral grip. The new NSX is comprised of multiple materials, including aluminum, carbon fiber and ultra-high strength steel. In areas where extra safety is needed, Acura has implemented the
high-strength steel, as to make it safer than ever before. Grounding the NSX are ContiSportContact™ high-performance tires, with 245/35Z R19 in the front and 295/30Z R20 in the rear. These tires are fitted to 19×8.5 inch wheels in the front and 20×11 inch wheels in the rear.

To celebrate their 150th anniversary, Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia to the world. This new four-door sedan took the automotive industry by surprise with its raw power, gorgeous Italian styling and heritage backing it up. Along with the standard Giulia model, Alfa Romeo also revealed the top-of-the-line Giulia Quadrifoglio. This new front-engine sedan packs a 2.9-liter Bi-Turbo V6 engine that produces 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. This makes for a power-to-weight ratio that’s near 7lbs/hp. With this balance of power and weight, the car can rocket from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and top out at 191 mph. Alfa Romeo has even clocked the
Giulia Quadrifoglio’s Nurburgring lap time at 7:39 minutes. To round out the raw power of the engine there are two notable features that only add to the car’s performance-focused DNA. The first is the active aero front splitter. Made of carbon fiber, this spoiler dynamically adjusts itself to create downforce when needed. The second feature is the Alfa Active Suspension, which will adapt to the driving conditions according to the mode selected with the Alfa DNA Pro feature.

GUMPERT APOLLO ARROW Apollo Automobili, the automaker formerly known as Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH, has introduced a brand new model into their upcoming lineup, the Apollo Arrow. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the Arrow is being called a hypercar by Apollo and from the looks of the car, that moniker is deserved. When they started building the car, they put an incredible amount of effort into having the most fluid aerodynamics possible, while keeping the target dry weight of the car at 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs). As for the final design, they landed on an exterior that was “inspired by the carnivorous ruthlessness of the ocean.” Yes, it’s the shark of the road.
Under its hood is a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 986 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. Those are most certainly hypercar numbers. This power flows through a 7-speed sequential transmission with a twin-plate clutch configuration. With massive power, a quick transmission and lightweight, the Arrow can shoot from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, 0-124 mph in 8.8 seconds and to a top speed of 224 mph. Could the Apollo Arrow be the next big contender in the hypercar segment? Only time will tell, but the specifications are quite telling of a formidable opponent.

Gumpert's Apollo S made its mark, but the 2017 Apollo N revives the legend. A true racing specimen, the Apollo N is disguised as a road car for those who cannot leave the track on the track. The 690 horsepower twin-turbo 4.2L V8 engine reaches a scorching top speed of 224 MPH with a catalyst 0-60 in just three seconds. The midmounted, rear-wheel-drive hypercar transmits its power through an undeniably smooth and masterfully crafted seven-speed CIMA transmission. Its exterior styling is unmatched, bearing strong resemblance to the Apollo S with its own, unique speed-line aerodynamics.

Complimenting the exterior is the race inspired interior, which is masterfully blended with everyday comforts. Four-point safety harness seatbelts call for blazing speeds, while the DVD compatible navigation system complete with Bluetooth capability lends itself to the usual expectation of luxury. Other features include a 12-volt electrical outlet in the passenger footboard and a storage bag at the front of both seats. Apollo included a redesigned instrument cluster, as well with three mode choices: Basic, Sport and Race. The 2017 Apollo N meets safety regulations, thus allowing street legality for this speed-thirsty work of engineering art.

Manual fans rejoice because a manual gearbox has been added to the 2017 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S. Yes, you read that correctly: the English automaker will give customers the option to choose either the Sportshift III automatic transmission or an honest seven-speed manual transmission with a dog-leg first gear position. Aston Martin’s CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer, said that the “manual gearbox remains an integral part of our product plans and will be for many years to come.” With this new transmission Aston Martin is including the AMSHIFT system, which will “blip” the throttle when downshifting. If you’ve mastered the heel-and-toe technique, you can switch this
feature off. Whether you pick the manual transmission or automatic transmission, Aston Martin says that the same performance is guaranteed in both. What kind of performance are we talking about? Built around the sporting DNA of the V8 Vantage GTE racecar, the new GT8 is a road-ready sports car that’s backed by the English brand’s powerful 4.7-liter V8. This engine is able to put 440 hp down to the wheels through either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed Sportshift II paddle-shift automatic transmission. Helping to save weight are a few new components, starting off with a new standard-fit lithium ion battery and carbon fiber sport seats. Customers will be able to drop even more weight through the optional carbon fiber roof, polycarbonate rear screen and rear side windows and a titanium exhaust system. Altogether, the savings equal an impressive 220 pounds. “Road cars are our business, but racing is the beating heart of Aston Martin,” said Aston Martin CEO Dr Andy Palmer. “The Vantage GT8 expresses that combination perfectly: an authentic and unashamedly extreme road car that draws directly from our Le Mans racing program to amplify the inherent dynamism that has long made the Vantage such a fine

The new Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato marks the fifth collaboration between England and Italy. The four previous builds have been mainstays of our magazine since 1985. Let’s dive into the details of this stunning supercar. Starting with a solid foundation of a 2016 Vanquish, Andrea Zagato and his team did away with several of the body seams and replaced them with one-piece carbon fiber panels. Aston Martin’s factory in Gaydon has more in common with Zagato than any other facility. Both companies choose to build cars by hand. More than a new body, Vanquish Zagato will arrive with more power and an Italian tuned suspension. Hopefully, this means
no power steering and stiffer springs. What we do know is that Aston Martin upped their 6.0-liter V12’s power up to 591 hp, creating a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. Our favorite feature of this concept is the roof. The double bubble design slopes down quickly from the cockpit to make the greenhouse appear smaller. AUDI R8 SPYDER V10 The Lamborghini Huracan and R8 are now closer than ever, with both models benefiting from a 50 percent stronger aluminum space frame. The stalwart 5.2L V10 is tuned to 540 hp, which allows 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The powered soft top is also faster, stowing away in under 20 seconds, operating at up to 31 mph. More carbon fiber allows for a dry weight under 3,600 lbs, a featherweight in the AWD convertible marketplace. The center differential is water cooled for longevity and is able to shift 100 percent of the engine’s power, front or rear, faster than you can blink. The second generation R8 comes in two variants: the V10 and V10 plus, each utilizing the same 5.2 FSI engine. The base V10 model doles out 540 horsepower, while the range-topping V10 Plus packs 610 horsepower. With this additional horsepower comes great performance. Audi states that the V10 Plus will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 205 mph. BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT SPEED Utilizing a redeveloped version of the Continental’s 6.0-liter twinturbo W12 engine, the new GT Speed is capable of 642 hp (a 7 hp increase from last year’s) and 620 lb-ft of torque (14.75 lb-ft increase). With a breath of fresh power, the GT Speed will be able to hit a top speed of 206 mph and rocket from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds (.2 seconds quicker). Along with a revamped engine are a slew of new modifications that make traveling in the car more luxurious than ever before. For a more refined connection to the road, Bentley has modified the steering wheel to have a more sculpted and sporty feeling, which fits to the driver’s hands like never before. Options are always welcome when buying a Bentley, right? Now customers have a new model option they can choose from: the Flying Spur V8 S. This new model sits between the Flying Spur V8 and the flagship W12. It comes with a boost in power to its twin-turbo V8 engine, which now pumps out 521 bhp and 502 lb-ft of torque, a modest increase over the standard V8’s 500 bhp and 487 lbft. This additional muscle powers the V8 S to 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds, a 0.3 second reduction over the V8. Bentley made quite a few modifications to the V8 engine and transmission, all of which make for better throttle response and more power at-the-ready when at lower
revs. What is most interesting is that even with all of these changes, it still has decent fuel economy, rated at a combined 25.9 mpg. To compliment the added power, the English automaker has also added a host of optional features. BMW M4 GTS Pushing the limits of their legendary straight six engine, BMW has unleashed a brutal new track car: the M4 GTS. The proof is in the lap time: 7.28. For those needing to lap the Ring in a Bavarian masterpiece, a host of new features will be at your disposal. At its core, the M4 GTS utilizes the twin turbocharged six-cylinder engine found in the M3/M4. Unlike the base models, however, the GTS has what BMW is calling “innovative water injection technology.” This new injection system raises the power up to 493 hp, a 75 hp increase over the base model, and 442 lb-ft of torque, a 36 lb-ft increase over the base model. In addition to the wild power, engineers stripped all nonessential weight and made extensive use of carbon composites. No manual transmission will be offered, but the seven-speed M-DCT has tougher internals and a revised launch mode to cope with the power.
Thanks to the car’s lightweight carbon fiber construction and the aforementioned boost of power, the M4 GTS is, in a word, quick. In fact, it can complete a 0-62 mph run in 3.8 seconds, .3 seconds faster than the base model, and has a limited top speed of 189.5 mph, which is 33.5 mph faster than the base model. An optional club sport package offers an Acid Orange roll cage behind the rear seats with provisions for a six-point racing harness. Covering the carbon fiber seats is a mix of Alcantara and Merino leather, with cut outs to save weight. Each owner will receive a suspension tuning box which includes a spanner wrench for the springs and a dial for tuning shock rebound. The exclusive sports program for the two-seater car was designed to increase its speed and power. BRABUS accomplished this through the PowerXtra B40-600 performance kit, a “plug-and-play” module. This module includes new mapping for the ignition and injection systems, while also increasing boost pressure for the two turbochargers. An extra 90 hp and 74 lb-ft of torque is added, resulting in a total power output of 600 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. An AMG GT S with BRABUS’ performance kit installed can rocket from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, topping out at 201 mph.
Complementing the added power are a series of physical upgrades offering functionality and style. On the outside, there are new carbon fiber components. The new Bugatti Chiron, the Veyron’s successor has officially been unveiled, and Bugatti states that the Chiron is “the world’s most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car.” Powering the car is the 8.0-liter W16 engine with two-stage turbocharging, which pumps out an extraordinary 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 lb-ft of torque between 2,000 and 6,000 RPM. With this power and the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, Bugatti states that the Chiron is
ready to set a new world speed record, especially with a stated top speed of 260 mph. It should also be mentioned that the Chiron will be able to run 0-60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds. To make the Chiron more nimble, especially when compared to the Veyron, Bugatti installed a new carbon fiber monocoque, newly design adaptive chassis, tires designed especially for Bugatti, new brakes with Formula One technical modules and more. the most capable ever C
adillacs have long been a symbol of reward. For more than a decade, Cadillac V-Series drivers have been rewarded with dual-purpose luxury performers: sophisticated luxury cars on the road with true track capability right from the factory. And now, the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V super sedan and 2017 Cadillac ATS-V sedan and coupe are the most capable V-Series ever. The 2017 Cadillac CTS-V super sedan is the third generation of the acclaimed luxury high-performance sedan that launched the brand’s elite V-Series a decade ago and helped redefine Cadillac for a new generation of drivers. After a sold-out 2016 model year, the Cadillac CTS-V returns for the 2017 model year to a four-month-long waiting list of orders. Powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine SAE-certified at 640 horsepower (477kW) and 630 lb-ft of torque (855 Nm), the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V is the most powerful production Cadillac ever. With more horsepower and torque than the Mercedes-Benz 5.5-liter biturbo V-8 and the BMW M-series 4.4-liter TwinPower (twin-turbo) V-8, the CTS-V is capable of 0-60 mph sprints in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 200 mph. The only thing this 200 mph super sedan cannot keep up with is demand. The Cadillac ATS-V coupe and sedan are powered by the Cadillac twin-turbo V-6 engine, rated at an SAE-certified 464 horsepower (346 kW) and 445 lbft of torque (601 Nm)-- a variant of the same engine powers the championship-winning 2016 Cadillac ATS-V.R Coupe Pirelli World Challenge race car. The combination of engine output and lightweight, yet strong, structure allows for 0-60 mph runs in 3.8 seconds and a segment-best top speed of 189 mph. That’s quicker and faster than the second generation Cadillac CTS-V. “Experience to develop a fast car that inspires confidence,” said Tony Roma, V-Series Chief Engineer.“The V-Series models feel planted while retaining the fun-to-drive quality, allowing the driver to feel comfortable exploring the performance.”
Roma, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University and a Masters degree in Engineering from Purdue, has been involved with every V-Series product. He traveled with the Pirelli World Challenge championship-winning Cadillac Racing team for the first two seasons as the powertrain team manager. After working with the race program, Roma spent three years as the Senior Manager for the High Performance Vehicle Operations group, where he was able to apply Cadillac Racing technology to the V-Series street cars. The foundation of the Cadillac V-Series is the same award-winning rear-wheel drive architecture underpinning the ATS sedan and coupe and the CTS sedan. All rear-wheel drive Cadillacs have some level of track capability; however, the Cadillac V-Series incorporates unique performance elements, components from world-class performance automotive suppliers and segment-leading, company-exclusive technology. The Cadillac ATS-V is available as either a sedan or coupe with a choice of a paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual transmission with No-Lift shifting and Active Rev Match on downshifts.The Cadillac CTS-V comes as a sedan model with a paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission. Both vehicles have standard Launch Control.
Almost every exterior panel on the Cadillac V-Series is unique – from the fascias and front fenders, to the carbon-fiber hoods, rear spoilers and rocker moldings, and every panel was designed to support the cars’ capabilities, contributing to lift reduction, enhanced cooling, and improved aero management. An available carbon fiber-package takes aero performance and dramatic styling to higher levels. Lightweight, forged alloy wheels – 18-inch on the ATS-V and 19-inch on the CTS-V – wrapped with specially-developed Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer-only tires enable nearly 1g in lateral acceleration. A Brembo brake system provides durability, consistency, and the capability for all-day track performance.The brakes were designed specifically for the V-Series and are patterned after the brake system on the Cadillac ATS-V.R Coupe race car. Segment-best, third-generation Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) damping and segment-exclusive Performance Traction Management (PTM) software are standard on the Cadillac V-Series and deliver greater body motion control at high speeds for a more agile feel, while maintaining excellent ride quality. Magnetic Ride Control “reads” the road a thousand times per second, sending data to magneto-rheological fluid-filled dampers that can independently control the damping characteristics of all four dampers. In fact, at 60 mph, the third-generation Magnetic Ride Control system calculates the optimal damping force for every inch of the road. Performance Traction Management software was derived from the Cadillac Racing program for the V-Series and implements appropriate measures of electronic assistance, matched for driver skill or road condition, according to a real-time algorithm. Five driver-selectable modes specifically for the track – Wet, Dry, Sport 1, Sport 2 and Race – provide progressive levels of electronic assistance, adjusting traction and stability controls. The standard electronic limited-slip differential translates the PTM software to optimal traction and enables maximum corner exit acceleration. “Our systems are all integrated, which means the ABS, eLSD, ESC, magnetic dampers, steering, and powertrain on a V-Series vehicle work together,” said Roma.“Our ‘driver command interpreter’ real-time algorithm is trying to predict what the driver is really asking the car to do. It’s intelligent in the sense that it makes predictions about factors, such as traction or driver intention based on the inputs the car receives and past driving trends. All of the vehicle’s controls then work in concert accordingly to maximize performance.” Roma said PTM helps with lap-time consistency, regardless of skill. “An extremely experienced driver might get a few faster laps in a session with everything off, but PTM will help all the laps be fast,” said Roma.“The different driving modes make the car comfortable for basically any level of driver skill. Feedback from drivers and owners has been awesome so far.” The Cadillac V-Series dual-purpose capabilities carry over to the interior, which is focused expressly on performance-driving ergonomics. Available 16way-adjustable RECARO performance front seats are the lynchpins for the driving experience, with aggressive, adjustable bolsters that help hold the driver and front passenger in place during high-load cornering. Twenty-way-adjustable, semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats with sueded microfiber inserts are standard. An available sueded microfiber steering wheel and shift knob complement the seating. FERRARI 488 SPIDER The Ferrari 488 Spider is the most powerful mid-rear-engined V8 automobile to feature the patented retractable hardtop. Powering the car is the same turbocharged V8 engine that debuted in the 488 GTB months ago. This new engine gives the Spider 660 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque to play with. When pushed, Ferrari’s new model will sprint from 0-62 mph in 3 seconds flat and 0-124 mph in 8.7 seconds. According to Ferrari, this is the “most aerodynamically efficient Ferrari spider ever built.” This was made possible through several new devices, including a blown spoiler and an underbody featuring vortex generators.
For the makeup of the car’s chassis, Ferrari used 11 different aluminum alloys, as well as other metals, such as magnesium. This allows the Spider to have the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness figures as its coupe counterpart. In fact, the chassis’ performance is increased by 23 percent over its predecessor, the 458 Spider. Helping the car’s driving capabilities is the fully integrated SSC2 Side Slip Angle Control System, which ups the Spider’s acceleration out of corners by 12 percent when compared to the 458 Spider. In fact, response times in general are 9 percent faster than its predecessor, making the 488 a suitable successor.

FERRARI GTC4LUSSO Ferrari’s new Italian four-seater brings out the best in performance, sportiness and elegance. The automaker is hailing the GTC4Lusso as “a major evolution of the sporting Grand Tourer concept.” How is this new model such an evolution? With the addition of rear-wheel steering combined with four-wheel drive. If the GTC4Lusso looks familiar, it’s because it replaces the FF, Ferrari’s previous four-seater model. What also may be familiar is

Ferrari has removed the top off of their famous LaFerrari for a new hybrid hypercar experience. It will be available with both a soft top and carbon fiber hard top. Contrary to popular belief, the new drop-top LaFerrari comes with the same running gear and performance figures as its hardtop relative. It will carry over the 6.3-liter V12 engine and 120 kW electric motor. The massive V12 puts out 789 horsepower, while the electric motor is good for 161 hp. This results in a combined power output of 950 horsepower.
In order to harness this much power while removing the roof, Ferrari performed precise surgery on the car. Through extensive modifications made to the chassis, the Italian automaker aimed for the new LaFerrari to retain the same torsional rigidity and stiffness as the coupe version. FORD GT The new Ford GT is shaping up to be one of the greatest American supercars ever created. That being said, it’s also shaping up to be a very, very rare American supercar. Because of its exclusiveness, Ford has asked prospective buyers to send in an application, which the company will use to determine future owners of the GT. Of the applications submitted, the American car company plans to narrow the prospects to 250 applicants per year, for four years. In other words, a total of 1,000 examples over a four year period will hit the streets, all of which, will be sold to a hand-selected few. The new American supercar has the heart of a 3.5-liter V6 engine that comes with Ford’s EcoBoost technology. The legendary automaker has been quiet about the intricacies of the GT, but they have announced that the supercar will produce over 600 horsepower.

This modification results in a 32 percent lighter and 25-50 percent thinner windshield. Being a revival of such an iconic car, Ford introduced its own ode to the GT’s of the past. The new ’66 Heritage Edition pays respect to the No. 2 race car. Back in 1966, Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove a GT40 Mark II, donning the same number, to victory at Le Mans. Now, 50 years later, a fitting tribute to that victory will be brought into the world.

Mustang fans will be happy to know that Ford has made Track Pack standard equipment for the 2017 Shelby GT350 and GT350R models. Last year buyers had to choose between the Track Pack or the Electronics Pack since a combination was not available. The GT 350R package includes carbon fiber 19â&#x20AC;? wheels, and 15.5â&#x20AC;? Brembo brakes, making it as close to a factory race car as you can buy. Also standard this year is the massive rear spoiler and magnetic suspension.
Options include speakers, radio, back up camera, air conditioning and rear seats. Ford intentionally left out the previously stated, which saves an overall 130 pounds. The first American car to offer a flat-plane V8, horsepower remains at 526 with 429 lb-ft of torque. Since a flat-plane design is essentially two four-cylinder engines sharing the same crankshaft, it is able to spin to a redline of 8,250 rpm. Such a wide power band combined with the six speed manual and 3.73 differential makes the GT350R a force to be reckoned with.

The Koenigsegg One:1 continues to be a rival to comparable industry vehicles. Designed to celebrate 20 years of the infamous brand, the One:1 is an incredibly exclusive vehicle—in fact, production won’t even reach double digits. Six purchasable cars were created and one test vehicle was made. Koenigsegg is calling the One:1 a “Megacar,” as it is the first homologated production car with 1 Megawatt of power (1,360 hp). The Koenigsegg Agera XS essentially an Agera RS that’s been modified to drive on US roads. In fact, it’s the first Agera RS in the United States and is one of the most powerful, fully homologated production car in the country. “Why the XS name, though?” That name was given to the car at the customer’s request. The car is finished in Karosserie Orange, with a diamond-dust metallic effect. Modifications made to this bright exterior include a bespoke aerodynamic pieces, as well as the largest rear wing that Koenigsegg has ever fitted to a car. The One:1 uses a new variable turbocharger with internals created by a 3D printer. This allowed Koenigsegg to create a turbocharger that performs exactly how they want it to, resulting in improved response and bottom-end torque. The exhaust end piece was also 3D printed and is made of titanium, saving 400 grams of weight when compared to its aluminum counterpart. The carbon fiber chassis and body are 20% lighter than the Agera thanks to the carbon fiber weave. The Koenigsegg One:1 is truly revolutionary.

KOENIGSEGG REGERA The world’s fastest and most powerful production car is here: the Koenigsegg Regera. At the heart of the Regera is a twin-turbo 5.0liter V8 engine connected to three electric motors. Combine their power output and the Regera pumps out 1,500+ hp and 1,475+ lbft of torque. The Regera will be, according to Koenigsegg, “the King of the Road, as the fastest accelerating, most powerful production car ever.” The Regera is a new breed of car that utilizes Koenigsegg Direct Drive Transmission (KDD). This new system was developed by Christian von Koenigsegg and it creates “direct drive to rear axle from the combustion engine without the need of multiple gears or other traditional types of variable transmissions, with inherently high energy losses.” Combine the massive amounts of power, a new transmission and the car’s curb weight of 3,589 pounds, and the Regera will rocket
from 0-248 mph in just 20 seconds. Its exterior also features a number of mechanics that make it the “first fully robotized car.” Every single body closure, including the engine cover, boot, doors and convertible top, can be operated from a remote or Smartphone. Koenigsegg claims this turns the Regera “into a Transformer.” Inside the Regera is an incredibly quiet ride, thanks to the new sub frame and rear structure. This allows the engine and transmission to rest on “active soft mount,” giving the car a smooth and quiet ride. If you thought the Koenigsegg Regera was going to be a rare bird, you would be correct. Lamborghini is throwing a bone to those who prefer to prowl around in a rear-wheel drive sports car. Presenting, the Huracan LP 580-2. It carries over the same 5.2-liter V10 used in the LP 610-4, but it has been tuned down to 580 hp. Along with the detuning, the engineers dropped the weight by 73 pounds. Weight distribution for the car was also adjusted to be 40% at the front and 60% at the rear. This was done to reduce inertia in the front, putting more in the rear where the power will be laid down. This car was created for those who want to bring its tail out and around for exciting drives.

The Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder is precisely the open-air version we’d expect. Powering the car is Lamborghini’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine. This familiar engine puts out 610 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque, which pushes the 3,400 lbs car from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. As for the convertible aspect of the car, Lamborghini has introduced a new soft top, available in black, brown and red. When up, the lightweight soft top creates a seamless roofline. Lotus strikes again by debuting the all-new Evora Sport 410. Shedding weight is no easy task, but Lotus has once again shocked the world with their latest Exige. The new Exige Sport 350 has lost 112 lbs, weighing in at only 2,480 lbs. The shifter of the manual transmission is now exposed, offering an interesting view of the inner workings. Being marketed as McLaren’s most practical model, the 570GT joins the Sports Series models with a cabin designed for comfort. Its seats are eight-way adjustable and are laid with leather as standard. McLaren states the 650S Spider is, “just as engaging on the road and track,” as its Coupe counterpart, and we are in agreement. Mechanically, the Spider is identical to the Coupe, with the same twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 641 bhp and 500 lb-ft of torque. This power means the car can rocket from 0-62 mph in 3.0 seconds and 0-124 mph in 8.6 seconds, just .2 seconds slower than the Coupe. The Spider also tops out at 204 mph, a speed not many are daring enough to reach. MCLAREN 675LT SPIDER The new McLaren 675LT Spider features a retractable roof that “adds further exhilaration” to an already exciting model. This “three-piece retractable folding hardtop” can be operated at speeds of up to 19 mph, for those wondering. When it comes to convertible versions of pre-existing models, there are a couple points that need to be addressed. The first is the car’s weight, considering the addition of a retractable roof can add a few pounds. But, the 675LT Spider clocks in at a total of 2,800 lbs, which is a bit heavier than the coupe. However, the 675LT Spider is about 220 lbs lighter when compared to the 650S Spider. Second, combine that weight with the twin-turbocharged
3.8-liter V8 that produces 666 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, and you have a power-to-weight ratio of 4.2 lbs per hp. The 675LT Spider will rocket from 0-60 mph in a blistering 2.9 seconds and can achieve 124 mph in 8.1 seconds – just .2 seconds shy of the coupe. Looking for a top speed? McLaren points out in the car’s technical statistics that it tops out at 203 mph. Staying true to their history of exclusivity, the 675LT Spider will be limited in number as are all other McLaren models. Only 500 examples will be created and virtually right after the car’s official announcement, the model sold out completely.

In terms of safety, the CLA45 offers blind spot assist, lane keep assist, Bi-Xenon headlights and taillights as well as 10-way airbag protection throughout the vehicle. Technology enhancements will be another feature of the 2017 version. MERCEDES-AMG E43 Looking for an E-Class that packs a little more power? You’re in luck. Recently unveiled is the new 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43, the new top-of-the-line E-Class. This newly minted example presented by Mercedes-AMG features Autobahn worthy power while still housing the luxury and style Mercedes-AMG is known for. One of the most prominent selling points of the new E43 AMG is its 3.0-liter V6 BiTurbo engine that packs 396 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. This is a huge step above the E350’s 302 hp and 273 lb-ft. With this power and a quick nine-speed automatic transmission, it can propel itself from 0-60 mph in a solid 4.5 seconds, even with a weight of 4,145 lbs. For 2017, the SL Class received a new exterior along with new interior color choices. The revised front end adopts Mercedes-AMG’s latest design language along with a few interior upgrades. PAGANI HUAYRA BC The name of the car comes from Benny Caiola, a man who the company says inspired Horacio Pagani over the years. He was also the first customer to ever buy a Pagani Automobile. The Huayra BC is not the normal Huayra. It comes in as the most technologically advanced one yet, welcoming a fine selection of new features that will be used in future Pagani vehicles. On the outside, the Huayra BC is easily recognizable in a crowd from other Huayras. Pagani notes that it “has been completely redesigned and except for the roof does not share a single body panel with the Huayra Coupé.” Changes include exposed carbon fiber, new front end, side skirts, rear diffuser and massive rear wing. Of course, the inside of the Huayra BC is just as impressive as you’d expect from Pagani. Powering the car is a twin-turbo V12 engine that has been exclusively developed for Pagani by Mercedes-AMG. It creates
789 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a sevenspeed automated manual transmission (AMT). Pagani states that the weight of the gearbox, including a brand new electronic active differential, is just about 40 percent lighter when compared to the dual-clutch of the current generation Huayra. While the power is most certainly there, so is a drive that handles well. A new bespoke suspension system was installed, which Pagani says is the lightest and most effective suspension ever utilized in a “high-performance vehicle.” A savings of 25 percent in weight was accomplished through HiForg, a lightweight aeronautic aluminum alloy. Along with the suspension, the Brembo brakes, Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires and Bosch ESP system (“Comfort”, “Sport” and “Track” driving modes”) work together to create a ride that will deliver both on the track and road.

Porsche’s Targa 4S is touted as being “more efficient and with greater sprinting power,” than the Targa 4, showing further refinement of the turbocharged engines and design. Ride height has been lowered by an additional 10 millimeters and fuel consumption is reduced by up to 12 percent in the Targa. The 911 series keeps adding hitters and the Porsche 911 R is no exception. The 911 R’s history began in 1967 when the race car was “entered in rallies, in the Targa Florio and in world record runs.” The new 911 R will keep the racing tradition alive and is composed of a “systematic lightweight construction” coupled with high-level performance and a focus on driver experience.
The 911 R’s focus is the track, which is exhibited in its ability to handle corners thanks to “specially tuned standard rear-axle steering which offers direct turn-in response and precise handling while maintaining a high level of stability.” The race car comes in at 3021 pounds, shaving 110 pounds off the 911 GT3 RS. The new 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster S makes its entrance into the world upgraded, updated and more powerful than before. At first glance, you’ll notice that it looks very similar to the previous Boxster. But, Porsche notes that “every body part except for the luggage compartment lids, the windshield and the convertible top has been changed.” Inside, the cabin has a few upgrades as well, including the new dash panel frames, standard Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a touch screen and an optional navigation module.

On the mechanical side, Porsche added a bit more zest for 2017. PORSCHE 718 CAYMAN S Following the announcement of the new 718 Boxster, Porsche has pulled back the sheets on the new 2017 718 Cayman models. What’s more, this is the first time the Cayman is priced below the Boxster. The new 718 Cayman S offers a powerhouse in the form of a 2.5-liter engine that delivers 309 lb-ft and 350 hp. This means both models see a 25+ hp increase over its predecessor while the Cayman has a 67 lb-ft increase in torque and the Cayman S has a 37lb-ft increase. As for their performance, the Cayman with the Sport Chrono Package can run 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and the Cayman S can accomplish the run in 4.0 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package. Coming in with the enhanced engines are firmer springs and sway bars, retuned shock absorbers, steering rack that is 10
percent quicker, uprated brake systems, rear wheels that are one-half inch wider and new tires. Like the 718 Boxster, the 718 Cayman S received a facelift. In the front, the new Cayman looks similar to the outgoing model, but with a “sharper profile” and “ultra-slim” front lights located above the larger air intakes. The rear is where the major overhaul happened, coming in the form of a redesigned rear fascia and completely redesigned taillights. Porsche also updated the interior of both the Cayman and the Cayman S models, noting that both the upper dashboard and air vents are new. With a sharpened design and more powerful engine, the Cayman S rivals the competition.
