Mar. 16: Essence of Storytelling – With an initial focus on the short story form, this meeting will include a discussion on the elements of a successful story and outlining to thoughtfully develop your story the way you want it told. Apr. 20: Character, Plot, Setting – We’ll investigate the three major components of a story, how to weigh and balance them and tips to make each aspect stronger in your writing. May 18: Pacing and Dialogue – It can be a trick to keep the action and backstory clipping along at a desirable pace. We will discuss building tension, avoiding infodumps and the keys to using dialogue to serve multiple purposes as once.

HOMESCHOOL LEARNING LAB FOR TEENS Thursdays (No lab on Apr. 2) 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. The Homeschool Learning Lab for Teens provides homeschoolers with enriching and unique educational programming in a library setting with an emphasis on teen interest. We have fun learning, building relationships and becoming familiar with library resources. Parents are invited to facilitate sessions.

TEEN TECH WEEK Sunday-Saturday, Mar. 8-14 All Day Join us for a week filled with a variety of techrelated activities. CHAPTER CHAT TEEN BOOK CLUB Saturdays, Apr. 11; May 2 1 - 2 p.m. Join our monthly teen-led book club! Come by the Information Desk to pick up a copy of the month’s selection. April: The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani. May: TBD. *Registration is required.

TEEN TUESDAY NIGHT Tuesdays (No program Mar. 31; Apr. 7) 6 - 7 p.m. Mar. 3: Washi Tape Crafts Use cool Japanese washi tape in a variety of patterns to craft away. You can make a washi tape pencil holder (complete with pencils), binder clips or notebook. Mar. 10: Happy Early Pi Day! Mix up science and art, and celebrate Pi Day a little early this year. Eat pie while learning about the joys of Pi! (And there’s even a Pi craft.) Mar. 17: Mark Your Place! Love to read? Love to craft? Combine them by learning how to make a variety of cool bookmarks, so you never have to lose your place again. Mar. 24: Make Your Own Book Pendants and Charms Capture your favorite words and turn them into wearable literature. Make your own book pendant or charm. Apr. 14: Paint Your Own Flower Pot Spring is here, so let’s celebrate! Get arty and embrace the season. Paint your own flower pot so you can get growing. Apr. 21: Altered Page Poetry Draw, scribble and pick your favorite words, then write a poem on the page of a book. Use recycled book pages, pens and your imagination to create your poems. Apr. 28: Green Crafting Recycled materials + creative intent = green crafting. Go green and have fun. May 5: Cinco de Mayo Crafts Celebrate Cinco de Mayo by learning a couple of nifty paper crafts – paper flowers and papel picado (paper flags) – that will add verve to any celebrations you might attend. May 12: Mother-Daughter Spa Night Need to relax? Learn how to make bath salts, sachets and more. This program is for adults and teens. *May 19: Meme All the T-shirts! Make a meme, then we’ll print it and you can show off your sense of humor to the world on a unique t-shirt of your own design. There will be a limited number of blank t-shirts available for participants. May 26: Nerdy Girl’s Night at the Library Enjoy pizza while you embrace your geek with crafts, trivia and talking about what you love best!

*TEEN NUTRITION SERIES: LOVE TO EAT? LEARN HOW! Mondays, Mar. 2, 9, 16 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Love to eat? Learn how in this 3-part workshop! Durham County super nutritionist Tyrone Hall will teach you the ins and outs of food safety, basic nutrition and how to make some tasty snacks.

Mar. 7: The Thriller Edition We’ll be reading a thriller. Apr. 18: The Novels in Verse Edition We’ll be reading a novel in verse to celebrate National Poetry Month. Do you just like reading really good books like The Red Pyramid? Join us at the library on the first Tuesday of every month to discuss a different book. Snacks will be served!

*3D CRAFT PARTY Tuesday, Mar. 10 4 - 5 p.m. Libraries are for making… a bunch of 3D crafts! Play around with the 3Doodler, learn about origami or melt some crayons to create some really cool 3D art. This program is for tweens and teens, ages 9 and up! Snacks will be provided.
