EXEC

Hello from DUSA! Welcome from your Student Executive team here at DUSA. We are a bunch of eight elected students who run DUSA for you, the students. We cover a range of issues and you can visit us in The Hive on Level 4 of the Union every weekday to discuss any problems or ideas you may have. We are responsible for the day-to-day management of DUSA as well as the campaigns ran by DUSA. Most importantly, our key job is to represent YOU! We have 6 full-time paid officers and 2 voluntary roles. Together we ensure that you have the best possible student experience at the University of Dundee. On everything from funding to housing to mental health, DUSA is here for you. Together we can create the best student voice, experience, and support anywhere in the country. What are we up to? Let’s find out... 30

Mini Manifesto Key Theme engage students in opportunities and 1. Toservices that enriches both their university and learning experience.

Our Mission in partnership with our student body to 2. Work understand their views and needs to ensure that we effectively represent and facilitate the engagement of their student life.

Our Vision will create and set a new standard of 3. DUSA service for the benefit of our student body to

better achieve the Association’s aims and objectives and enrich the student experience. We will achieve our key mission and vision by concentrating on changes grouped under three main headings:

Perception

Welfare

Representation 31

Perception By focusing on Academic Representation and Extra-Curricular Activities we hope to change people’s perception of DUSA. We exist to provide far more than a good night out, although our nightlife is still a huge part of what we do. We are here to serve you, the students, throughout every single part of the student experience. Whether it is providing you with a voice in how your modules are delivered, providing expert advice on housing, sex, and mental health, or supporting you to become the person you want to become through volunteering or societies – we are here for you. By changing the perception of DUSA we hope that more students will benefit from the range of services we provide.

32

Welfare DUSA provides a wide-ranging welfare service. However, we would like to start preventing problems from arising rather than simply helping you when they do. Through a rethink of our current services, and a host of new campaigns and activities, we hope to tackle rising anxiety and stress levels within the student body before they boil over. We know problems are unavoidable sometimes and we will always be here for you when they do, however, where we can stop problems before they begin to seriously impact on your life we will from now on. Through improved support, a wider range of stressbusting activities andresilience training we hope to make sure you have the best and easiest experience possible here in Dundee. UNIVERSITY

33

Representation We have decided that it is high-time for a new approach to representation. We want to empower students to become leaders and representatives throughout every level of the university. By having a new approach to the SRC and the school’s representation structures, we hope to drastically increase the number of students who are engaged with representation within DUSA and the University. By involving students at every level of this rethink, we propose to create a system that gives students the loudest and most varied voice in the land, empowering new student leaders and giving a voice to the voiceless.
