Bbrand intention This assignment is a longitudinal communication design project across this semester’s graphic design classes. This assignment, titled TXMighty (as in Texas Mighty), inspired by the #HoustonStrong and #TXStrong hashtags that went viral in social media in the week of the Hurricane Harvey’s impact.

Many parts of Texas were left hurting in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and they will for a while. The road to recovery is long and certainly difficult, but Texas will rebuild —even better and stronger!

Following the devastating path caused by Hurricane Harvey — after it poured copious amounts of rain in Houston on August 26th, and then made landfall near Beaumont and Port Arthur areas on August 29th—something incredible blossomed. Amidst the floods, despair, and suffering, hundreds of miracles started to happen and many communities came to the rescue of neighbors, near and far. In what was a historicalweek, people across the globe witnessed the indomitable spirit of Texas. A compassionate and supportive group of people of all walks of life who managed to turn the worst rain event in U.S. history into stories of community, generosity and support.

The intention of this communication design project is to document and visualize the stories and innovative solutions that came to fruition under extremely challenging times. The project also intends to develop a brand identity that will put all Texans together, not divided by counties or cities, but united by the state. As the rebuilding process begins, the task is to show how to heal through the power of visual communication design.

From the rescue stories by the Cajun Navy folks to Sketch City’s solutions to critical issues that emerged during the storm (such as shelter maps,
