Site Pl an (detail)
During the first visit to the bo tanical g arden, I was immed i ate ly d rawned to a 20 feet tall tuli p tree wh ich is surro unded b y d ifferent interesting views, in clud ing th e fo rest, th e rose bushes, the sh o rter trees. Th erefo re I de cided to d raw a rad i al se cti o n cuts of the site, fo cusing on h ow the views ch an ge as I walk aro und th e tree.
From the exp erie n ce with the tree, I want to build an observato ry th at can d ivide the sp ace into d iffere nt view frames, th at can guide the viewers’ e yes, e nh an cing th e co ntrasts betwee n the views aro und the tuli p trees. I th us came up with “view can ons” - sp aces th at can he lp th e viewers focus on p articul ar p arts of the site wh ile isol atin g th em from th e rest.
