I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you to the 13th Annual Foundation Female Sale. First off I would like to take a second to thank everyone who helped to make last year’s sale such a success. We are looking forward to new customers as well as our past customers in joining us for the 13th installment of the Foundation Female Sale. The 2009 offering is one of the most elite sets that we have brought to the auction ring to date, with 67 consignors consigning the very best from their individual operations. Some of this year’s highlights will include, Bill Couch’s major herd reduction. These females represent some of the most elite Angus and SimAngus genetics. These lots will not only impress you with their genotypic excellence, they will also impress you when you are giving the chance to view the phenotypic prowess that they possess. Another new consignor to this year’s sale will be 7451 Ranch, managed by Willy Couch, who will be offering an outstanding set of Spring and Fall Calving bred females. Our long time consignors Harwood Cattle Company, Jeff & Quentin Harwood, will be offering 30 outstanding lots of Angus and SimAngus genetics. Derrer Farms, Rod Derrer, is yet again offering some of his top producing young cow families for public auction. Sandeen Farms, Tim & Scott Sandeen, will be offering another great consignment of Simmental genetics. Each and every year our list of consignors bring their very best to the sale ring. A new addition to this year’s sale lineup will be The 1st Annual Rare Semen & Embryo Auction to be held September 5, 2009 at 6:00 pm CST. This sale will be featuring some of the very best embryos out of the leading donor cows in the industry. At this auction we will also be offering some of the most rare and valuable semen lots you will find all fall. If I, our sale consultants, or any of the 67 consignors can be of any help feel free to contact us. Please come early to take some time to sort thru the 250 head of cattle that will be on hand. Once again thank you for your support of this year’s sale as well as all of the earlier Foundation Female Sale’s. We can’t wait to see you on Labor Day Weekend. Putting together a set of Angus bred females like the set you will see in the next few pages takes more than just a good eye for cattle. Bill Couch has put in as much time and effort as any one in the cattle business, and the results are evident in the cattle he will have to offer on sale day. Erica Lassie 3264 exemplifies the type of cattle that Bill has strived to produce over his career. 3264 is a big bodied, big footed female, that possesses the volume and style needed to work in a Registered Angus herd as well as a SimAngus operation. Over the years Bill has had the opportunity to sort a lot of 1407 daughters and this female is the stoutest made, biggest hipped female he has ever seen. All of the guess work is done on this game changing female one look at her daughters and you will see just how much good 3264 could do in your herd. Retaining 1/2 embryo interest in this female. 3264 sells open and ready to flush. AM free and NH free.

Bill Couch’s legacy speaks for itself in the cattle community. He has raised National Champion cattle in the Angus, Hereford, Limousin, & Simmental breeds. It is with great pride that we offer his herd reduction in this year’s Foundation Female Sale. We hope you all will appreciate the effort that he has put into producing functional, easy fleshing cattle in all breeds.

Selling the dam of the 2007 National Champion Foundation Female. We have barely scratched the surface with this youthful donor as we have only ever bred her to S.O.S or Maximus. However, in the time we have owned her she has had the $9100, Jasmine, that went on to be a National Champion, a $10,000 consignment to the 2007 Foundation Female Sale, and $18,000 heifer that sold private treaty, and to that point she had never been flushed. This year is her first set of transplant calves and she has given us more nice heifers and a bull calf that could be the best of all. She has become the cow you count on when you need to make eggs, which is why she is being offered. In just a few flushes she’s given us a nice bank of embryo’s. This impeccable Maximus daughter at side speaks volumes for her. Safe to Monopoly is a can’t miss. If we had not made the commitment to share some of our best producers every year, this one would not be leaving the farm.

A genetic gem and a powerful SimAngus show prospect. She is an impressive and exciting female that does everything right from a phenotypic stand point. Even more exciting is the fact that she is a Maximus. Proven winners and proven producers in every aspect of the show cattle industry. Lucky Dreams is a daughter of Sheeza Dream K107W. Which makes her a maternal sister to Dream On. She should have an outstanding heifer by Ranch Hand in February. She had a tremendous bull calf by STF Momentum that sold out of the pasture this year. Great cow families on both sides of her pedigree make her the cow-man’s kind.

LVCC Mrs. Picasso has proven herself as a top 1/2 blood Simmental producing machine. This mating has already netted the outstanding donor female KS Miss She’s So Sweet, who had 1/2 interest sold in last year’s High Standard Female Sale for $52,000, which set a new record for highest price paid for a half blood female. Miss She’s So Sweet has already produced over $300,000 in sales in her young career. It is very rare to come across a mating that is a sure thing, and even more difficult to come across one of these matings that is actually being offered at public auction. Make sure that you are available to purchase these pregnancies or embryo lots on September 5th. We will offer choice on these two pregnancies as well as the two embryo lots with the winning bidder retaining the right to purchase both pregnancies or embryos at double the money. The embryo lots will carry a guarantee of one pregnancy per lot.

H25 continues to blaze a trail into Simmental history books. She consistently produces purebred cattle with modern day appeal, doability, and among all quality traits the most important, longevity. Her lineage is not only successful at producing cattle that excel on the tan bark, but she dedicates a ploy to make cattle with enhanced fertility, stayability, and flawless structure. The outcross genetic combination of her sire and dam further promotes her value as a true matriarch to the breed. The mating to the Griswold/Ratcliff herdsire, Steel Force has been proven successful thus far. This combination produced the Heifer Calf Champion at the 2009 AJSA Summer Classic that was also selected 6th overall. Probably the even more exciting mating would be to the $50,000 Upgrade. The potential to result in the next great outcross sire of female for the smoking hot Simmental breed should be reason enough to invest. What a great opportunity to embark on predictable Simmental genetics.
