Please consider this your personal invitation to join us for the 10th Anniversary of the “Buildin’ A Brand” production sale. This year will mark our 20th year of having bred heifer production sales, which began in 2000 with Brad Hook and the “No Bull” Bred Female sale. Then in 2010 Brad felt it was time for him to transition more into the videography/photography portion of the industry and for us to continue to “build our own brand”. Thus, the commencement of the Sandeen Genetics Buildin’ A Brand sale where we also began to offer a select group of bulls and eventually a few show heifer prospects, along with our bred females. Through all of these years, what we find to be most astonishing and humbling, is just how many customers and friends have attended and bought from many or most of these sales, and yet every year we are gratified to be greeted with more new faces along the way. We certainly appreciate the loyalty exhibited by each and every one of you for taking the time out of your extremely hectic schedules to come and evaluate our program! We fully understand that there are a multitude of other places that you could purchase your needs from. Our hope is that you find the genetics represented here, offer an opportunity for you to add value to your operation from a program that stands behind its product 100% We enjoy hearing all the feedback and the success stories from those that have purchased our genetics over the years. It’s very satisfying to know that our unwavering commitment to producing highly efficient, functional cattle that are productive, fertile, and long lasting, is able to be utilized outside of our operation. We concentrate very hard on building up from cow families that have these inherent traits deeply embedded in their heritage. It leads to a much higher degree of consistency in the success of generational progression. To further enhance our genetics we have been working diligently to isolate particular outliers within our gene pool that will consistently allow an advantage for the customers that require further growth and performance without effectively sacrificing that invaluable efficiency and capaciously big bodied design that we demand in order to produce cows that thrive on forage alone, without additional supplementation. Most importantly we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that helps us throughout the year. We are incredibly blessed with family, friends, and neighbors that work around here as needed. Many of you adjust your schedules at a moment’s notice to come help. Also, brother Eric for stopping whatever he’s working on, to get whatever I’ve broke, back up and running. We really, truly appreciate all that you do and could not do it without you! I’m not sure how to express just how truly grateful we are for all that our wives do for us. They cook all the meals for the crews that work around here, while raising the kids/grandkids and keep everything else in line (including us at times). We could not and would not do it without you! Thank you all for 20 years of allowing us to do what we love, and God Bless! The Sandeen ’s

Sandeen High Profile would unquestionably rank among the very upper echelon of most unique and intriguingly good individuals ever to leave a hoof mark on this ground! He is a true outlier in terms of combining an undeniably stellar presence with a powerful, complete and fault free design. He possesses exceptional stoutness of skeleton and is of the utmost structural integrity, with the proper alignment at the neck-shoulder junction and a desirable degree of flex at all necessary hinge points. He’s a large scrotal bull that shows early signs of tremendous libido, yet is extremely docile by nature. From an early age he has exhibited incredible performance, outgrowing his entire contemporary group, regardless of the fact that he was raised by a first calf heifer with no creep fee. We firmly believe that this extraordinary individual could have a monumental impact on the future of the Simmental breed. Perhaps his greatest contribution will be the high quality hoof, both in shape and depth of heel, that he displays and will likely transmit. When we study this pedigree it becomes evident that this individual was not derived by accident, but rather is backed by the prefix’s of a few of modern history’s most forward thinking and like-minded breeders that have an unwavering commitment and appreciation for good, functional, high quality, production oriented cattle that they sort first on the hoof rather than by the paper! ***Offering 3/4 Semen interest with possession negotiable.***

Truly a superior individual here by all Sandeen Standards! Her dam, Sandeen Donna 5120, has raised the bar for the Donna tribe in terms of consistently transmitting stoutness of skeleton along with a immense amount of overall mass and dimension. Donna 8302 exemplifies these characteristics to a “T” but yet enhances her powerful design with a stunning elegance through her head, neck, and shoulder. An incredible combination! Sandeen Donna 8302 is undeniably the finest combination of phenotypic greatness, genetic lineage, and a favorable EPD profile that we have ever compiled in a PUREBRED Simmental package. Fertility is also a strong suit of the Donna cow family, as is evident by the IVF aspiration performed on Donna 8302 last spring which resulted in 60 oocytes and 38 fertilized embryos! We would like to offer the opportunity to share, what we feel, is one of the most exciting matings we have ever made here by the $180,000 high selling Bankroll son from Wernings, W/C Ft. Knox. There have not been a lot of show heifers offered from the Donna tribe, but I think Donna 810, although young, would have to qualify. Just a May heifer, and undoubtedly a bit green yet, this one has the essential ingredients to handle that younger division in the show ring and the pedigree to ensure that she will mature into a massive, powerful, front-end donor. As you study the bred heifers in this sale, you’ll notice that when we line up Remington Lock-N-Load, Werning Miss 8543U, and Sandeen Donna 8386 in the pedigree, the results end up being the cream that rises to the top. The same will be true of this young prospect. We will also be offering a package of sexed female full sib embryos to this exquisite young sale highlight in Lot 4.

Sandeen Lady A 6761

944 is a flat shouldered, sleek necked individual that’s got a deep sweeping ribcage, and is most appreciated when set into motion. She’s got a definite show ring presence about her, but will likely be most influential as a breeding piece down the road. Her dam is the Sandeen Lady A 6761 cow that we retained an interest in when she sold as a $48,000 highlight of our 2017 sale. That cow is an impressive specimen that inherited some of the most important traits of her Fleckvich ancestors. Traits such as tremendous foot quality, both in depth of heel and shape, as well as excellent structural integrity with added stoutness and power. All while not sacrificing fertility, longevity and productivity. They also offer the unique ability to produce additional vigorous performance while maintaining a high degree of efficiency. This young prospect is proof positive that in just a couple generations removed, we can preserve the desirable functional and practical traits the Fleckvieh cattle offer and still produce an animal with an attractive and highly marketable phenotype. Sandeen Donna 8386 has created quite a legacy for herself over the past decade. She has placed a multitude of high quality progeny into progressive seedstock operations across the nation, demonstrated by the collage of descendants represented below. Though we are now seeing her torch be passed on to these daughters and granddaughters, she will go down in history as the primordial member of the Donna tribe’s infusion into the Simmental gene pool. Sandeen Donna 8386

Sandeen Donna 8405 possesses the infamous Lock-N-Load X Donna 8386 pedigree that has habitually placed high quality females in the sale that eventually go on to be leading donors for their respective operations. In staying true to tradition 8405 has been coined, ”the Sandeen kind”. She has that roomy, robust center body cavity that the Donna cows are so well noted for. This is a stout structured, efficiently designed specimen that will produce the kind of high-end purebreds which you as consumers demand. The guess work is gone here. This is a full sister to two of the young donors being aggressively worked here at the Sandeen Ranch; Sandeen Donna 5120 & Sandeen Donna 6386, along with the $60,000.00 Bird/Fulton donor, Sandeen Donna 4232 and the Shoal Creek highlight, Sandeen Donna 4532, as well as Sandeen Donna 4325 and Sandeen Donna 5004. A pair of donors owned by the Speas crew which have been gracious enough to offer some of their outstanding offspring back through this years sale. Very seldom does an opportunity arise that offers such a high probability of success in this industry, but we need to try to take advantage when it does. Though perhaps not as stout and powered up, 8001 offers a great deal in terms of femininity, structural integrity and that bold sweeping ribcage. This female radiates function and production with unquestionable longevity built in. 8004 & 8005 are very similar in their type and kind. There will be a very limited number of these direct daughters of Donna 8386 offered in the coming years, so take advantage while they’re available.

She’s a sharp fronted, mid-sized female that will undoubtedly make her way to someone’s donor pen in the future. From a genetic standpoint this pedigree is combining two of the Simmental breeds most productive matrons; Miss Werning 8543U and Sandeen Donna 8386, along with what has perhaps been the most prominent and influential sire on our program in recent years, Remington Lock-N-Load. This pair of star headed, snip-nosed females carry many of the same attributes as their sister, Donna 8040. They possess the extra size and extension with tremendous flexibility when on the move and that added boost of performance and mass that Executive Order seems to offer. This is an impressive set of PUREBRED Bankroll x Donna bred females with 8232 leading the way in terms of overall stoutness and power. Very three dimensional in her design and flexible in her movement. Extremely interesting pedigree that lines up Bankroll, Lock-N-Load, Miss Werning 8543U, and Sandeen Donna 8386…. Doesn’t get much better than that in our breeding program.

Donna 8464 is a big bodied, moderate framed female that is very angular and feminine through her front one third. I’ve thought all along that this would be an interesting one to breed several different ways, due to her unique combination of phenotype and pedigree. Ruby SWC Battle Cry may be the first thing that comes to mind when we consider the similar genetics of the Lot 2 heifer. However, her mating to the $450,000 Coleman Bravo seems like a stellar way to start.

It’s rare to find Pilgrim bred heifers offered for sale. This pair of ¾ bloods are very similar in their type and kind, being extremely soggy middled, loose structured, loose hided cattle that can be mated to some of the really “typey” bulls that seem popular in the show cattle industry, and still end up with some very functional, high quality resulting offspring. The dam of these heifers, Sandeen Lady 4041, is a massive Upper Class female that we own with the Fritchey family. She traces back to the 007 donor that we could always depend on to transmit foot quality, fertility and early performance. 7008 was an obvious stand out in her 2017 calf crop. From an early age she displayed that enormously bold and roomy ribcage that the Upper Class cattle are known for. She was also an outlier in terms of tremendous early performance and was stout built from the ground up. She has since matured into a model cow that is efficient in her design with a three dimensional build and a phenomenal udder. This should, in our mind, be the ideal cow to mate with Relentless in order to produce the stand out purebred show heifers it takes to compete at the highest levels today. Offered with Alexis Brandt

These embryos are maternal siblings to SFIS CRYSTAL GAYLE the calf champion female at the 2017 American Royal. It did not take 4325 long to put her stamp on our program. She has produced may champions and high sellers in her first few years as a donor including a reserve division champion bull at the 2018 American Royal. We have done the homework and know this mating has consistently made sound functional cattle that will impress you in the show ring or make an excellent breeding piece. Embryos are IVF. Speas Farms Inc.

Rare opportunity to purchase genetics from this highly touted Red Baldy Profit daughter, when ever this Red beauty was taken to town she always drew a crowd whether she was in her work clothes or show ready she was quite impressive. The proof is in the pudding and this cow is further proof of what the Sandeen cow families can do for your program. Crystal Gayle has put up some impressive flush numbers so we have decided to offer a limited number of embryos. Embryos are IVF. Speas Farms Inc.

She is a moderate framed Powerhouse! 8465 is a full sister to the high selling open show heifer in the 2018 Buildin’ A Brand Sale, going to the Henderson family of Iowa and is currently being campaigned quite successfully. Owned with Kauffman Ranch, MT. Big hipped, big backed, wide centered and jet-necked. She’s excellent on her feet with above adequate substance of bone yet maintains smooth joints and a high degree of flexibility at all necessary hinge points. These are traits that she will undoubtedly pass down to her offspring just as her dam and grandam have. When these certain traits are set for generations they have to breed that way, It’s the only way they can. Saturday December 14, 2019 at High Noon | Page 28

Missie 8049 comes from one of the most consistently productive cow families on the place. The 049 cow is the kind that we should model a herd around. She’s an ideally designed Angus cow with a superior udder and is very milky. Always holds her condition and would have calving intervals of not more than 365 days. The mating to 1143Y has worked extremely well each time. Demonstrated by the Missie 6049 sibling that sold to Casey Hilmes of Oklahoma for $13,000 as well as another sister, Missie 5049, that sold to John Bauer of Illinois for $7,500. Highly predictable genetics in this lot. Saturday December 14, 2019 at High Noon | Page 32

8350 is the phenotypic posterchild for 1143Y daughters… Ideal upward positioning at the neck-shoulder transition. She’s bold centered with a square hip entailing adequate width from the pin set down to the stifle and through the twist along with ample substance of bone and foot. Exceptional flexibility when on the move and additional hair coat quality for not only cold northern winters, but also show calf production. This individual also has a number of maternally superior Angus sires supporting the bottom side of her pedigree such as EXT, 9FB3, and Stockman 365.

What an impressive pair of ¾ blood Bankroll brothers from the TF Cattle program. The Bankroll cattle nationwide are undoubtedly impressive, but very few are backed by a cow that possesses the power or pedigree that Sandeen Donna 5033 does. These bulls combine the potency of two of the most dominant, revenue generating cows in the Simmental database; Werning Miss 8543U and Sandeen Donna 8386. The baldy G611 bull is a long necked, good looking, wide tracking individual that will make incredible females that are quality enough to suit the most discriminating seed stock producer. The solid black G601 bull is an individual that has a tremendous amount of pure product. Maybe not quite as sleek necked but extremely flexible in his movement and stands on a good big foot. A very good pair of breeding bulls that could work in a seedstock situation or for a progressive commercial operation. Buildin’ A Brand Production Sale | Page 39

A strong aged, coming two-year-old bull, with a pedigree that is considered second to none around here. The combination of Bankroll’s dam, Werning’s Miss 8543U and Sandeen Donna 8386 leaves little doubt the daughters from F800 will be tremendous. Not only are genetics highly valued in this lot, but from a logistical standpoint he will cover a lot of cows. At 10 months of age he passed his semen evaluation with an excellent score and measured in at a 40 cm scrotal. Bred in fertility and productivity for generations.

Thank you to the USBCHA for allowing us to host the 2019 National Cattle Dog Finals! The National Cattledog finals was an event like no other we’ve ever been apart of. We found those that are involved with this organization to be some of the most gracious, salt of the earth people to ever walk God’s green earth. Even in the face of adversity, with torrential rains on an already saturated landscape, these folks were unwavering in their commitment to perform the job they came to do. If we are given the honor to host this event again, I would strongly advise anyone with an interest in dogs or livestock to make plans to attend. It is simply astonishing, the tasks these dogs and handlers are able to perform, and it may even become something of interest to you someday. When we consider the livestock show industry is being flooded with participants in nearly every sector of every species, the dog trialing industry would seem to be another very interesting avenue that allows individuals to harness a particular skillset, much like showing livestock, yet still keeps us connected to production agriculture with a useful purpose. Check them out on facebook at USBCHA National Cattle Dog Finals.
