2020 Ferguson Show Cattle Sale

Page 1

Saturday September 26, 2020 at 1:00 pm - Jefferson, Ohio

There has not been a more trying year and, I think we will all agree that 2020 will be one we will not forget! The year started great in Denver, winning our class with our pen of 3 Neon Rey heifers and selling genetic lots very well. Then the wheels starting falling off. Pat Campbell who plays a big part in all aspects of the farm had a heart attack. Through various reason we lost 3 employees leaving Lindsey and myself, mostly Lindsey, to manage and take care of 300 head. I write this because there was no complaining and, in her words, “I got this”. Pat mended and we welcomed him back. Scott Lehman, a great cattle guy has joined our team with great results. An Intern Garret Bose was added and is learning the ropes. A special thank to Lindsey’s brother Eric Montgomery who stepped in during the winter months to help with calving and feeding. With our intensive ET program and proven donor base we are offering the top of the herd, and not the ones we don’t want. FSCI Erica 54S is still turning out high dollar prospects and show winners strong in femininity traits. Gemstone, with her power and performance, wildly popular in the showing ring. W/C Grace 4016B 8543, strong in maternal traits and femininity. Neon Rey with power growth and massive bone that she passes on, unfortunately we lost her this year. It was a sad day. Personality B421 is being used more and she will leave her mark for sure. A full sib to W/C Fort Knox either male or female will be offered which has gathered a ton of excitement. The opens are amazing with some already class and division winners. All opens are halter broke. Breds are mostly AI bred with top bulls in the country although, I would put our bulls in the same category as AI Bulls, many customers have been very happy with their calves. We added a few fall cow calf pairs with Fort Knox Progeny. The bull division which was hugely successful last year will be unbelievable this year. Now for a family update. Noli has turned 2 and is already feeding and opening gates. I am known as Papa Moo Moo! John has a new career in Employee Placement and has moved to the top of his company. Holly is doing a great job with the struggles of teaching. Noli is benefiting greatly with her mom in the field. Lastly, Lindsey got engaged to a great young man, Ryan Rowland on June 29th. A great addition to our family as Ryan is loved by all the family members. Ryan also helped Lindsey on the weekends in our time of need. I feel very fortunate for such a great family. Our customer base has grown consistently and we love to hear of the success stories from showing, to calving out herd bull prospects and producing donors from our genetics. We thank you, please call with questions and God Bless America. John J Ferguson

This could be one of the top selling genetic lots in the country this year. We are selling a full sibling pregnancy to W/C Fort Knox who commanded a $360,000 valuation and on this first offering of semen at the Sim-Magic sale. 200 units of conventional brought $60,750 for an average of $304/unit. 200 units of sexed semen brought $82,500 for a $413/unit average, semen sales alone took in $143,250. W/C Fort Knox is not a one hit wonder full sibling bulls brought $27,000 and $21,000 respectively in Werning’s 2020 sale. A full sibling open female brought $55,000. We have a large group of fall Fort Knox calves on the ground and to say they are special is an understatement. So you take your pick a bull or heifer. Both pregnancies are due 12/1/20 these are premium Trans Ova recips 3-5 year old and 1400 plus pound cows. Elite Genetics.

Just imagine what this level of consistency will bring to your program. These red females were a result of a embryo split that created twins. G069 may be a twin and a little green as a result but she could end up being the best in the long run. A little longer in her spine and unbelievable extension.

ASA #: 3757594 - AAA #: Pending - Homo Polled ASA #: 3757598 - AAA #: Pending - Homo Polled Open Heifer Open Heifer FSC Erica’s Lutton has been a real staple in our program and performed for so many other breeders. Daughters have sold from $7500 to $25,000 routinely, progeny have received Class and Division ribbons at all the National level shows. A grandson was named Grand Champion Percentage Bull in Denver, just to name a few. Last year 2 daughters by Profit topped our sale at $12,000 and $10,000 respectively. Due to Erica’s advanced age and declining flush production we thought the time had come to flush her Angus instead of Simmental to produce her next great purebred daughter. Why we waited this long to go Angus is beyond me, but boy I’m happy we went back to her roots. This pair of Insight daughters will stand some serious heat. Both are so feminine and sweet in their looks and disposition. G089 known as Princess, in our barn, has all the extras added length of spine and neck. While G329 exhibits that extra dimension and cow power. Many have looked but nobody has yet to say “That’s The One”, time for you to decide which one will propel your program to the next level!

G119 was already Division Champion at the Ohio State Show. Get in early on Ms Personality progeny, B421 is soon to make a big splash at FSC.

ASA #: 3444683 - Polled W/C Fort Knox bull calf at side DOB 8/1/20. (ASA #: 3763441). This cow goes back to our older Purebred Angus donor Jauer Emblazon 836 4097. D406 resembles her donor dam, massively middled with ample flex. She could raise two calves with ample milk supply. Her calves come small and grow like weeds. Her Fort Knox bull calf is your next calving ease herd bull.

ASA #: 3741948 - Polled Bull When people ask about G199 my response is “All Bull”. He is not mean as Lindsey showed him to a Reserve Champion Percentage bull. He is our stout rascal with big round feet. A neck that goes forever and a lot of red meat. He will ad muscle, bone, and stoutness. His dam 0335 is entering the donor pen. Get in early. While his numbers read for heifers we would recommend usage on cows.

ASA #: 3761599 - Polled Bull This bull goes back to a Werning cow that we sold many calves out of for a premium. We scrutinize our bull prospects very hard here. They have to be exceptional to not find their way to the steer pen. I have watched F248 for some time and I think he is a herd builder with good round feet, no long toes, ample flex, and a wedge shaped front end. F248 has a great disposition. Calving ease candidate with a 75# birth weight.

ASA #: 3761600 - Polled Bull We love our X11 cattle, bulls and females alike. The bulls have performance and the females are easy to look at and have always sold for a premium. The udder quality is second to none. G931 checks all the boxes for disposition, a top line as straight as an arrow. Tail head fits in perfect and a wedge shaped front end for calving ease. Highly sought after outcross genetics.

Ferguson Show Cattle is a little off the beaten path for most, not having a central location for most programs, but I can guarantee that this herd is well worth a visit. As you study this catalog you are sure to note the powerful concentration that has been placed on generations of cow families being stacked on both the top and bottom side to ensure consistency year after year. The Ferguson Family has always kept an eye on show ring goals but has never sacrificed the fundamentals to achieve success. When you make the trip to Jefferson, Ohio I’m sure you will be impressed with the amount of foot size, bone, and skeletal width that their cattle possess. These females are backed by some of the finest genetics available in the Simmental herdbook from herds who include Werning’s, Coleman Angus, Hudson Pines, Tingle, Sloup, Sandeen, and many others. John and Lindsey have taken females purchased from some of the finest herds in the country and have put their own unique spin on them. John spends countless hours studying the finest genetics and cow families and finds a way to put those traits and cow families into his program. His dedication to quality is second to none, making sure that each addition to the program is done to advance the herd in the long term. Lindsey is the glue that keeps it all moving forward and makes sure that each and every female earns it’s keep and pays the way for the next generation. She handles the day to day and makes sure all the fundamentals are correct along the way. There truly is no harder critic in the Simmental breed than this pair, and thus the quality in the females and bulls being offered. You can expect your purchases to calve with ease, maintain flesh throughout the summer, raise a calf, breed back, and have a sound set of feet and legs. These females are culled hard to make sure that customer success is at the forefront. John & Lindsey show up and go to work each day to make these females and bulls thrive for their new owners and they love to hear about how you are getting along with your purchases. The Ferguson program started out like so many before them, 4-H started their cattle buying and a love for cattle, and the people involved in the industry have kept them going throughout the years. Use John and Lindsey’s years of experience to your advantage by allowing them to help you select your next project, donor, or herd bull. It is truly invaluable to put a price on experience. John and Lindsey have the experience needed to save you time and money in the future. Please feel free to give them a call leading into sale day to make sure that your selection is what your looking for. As you study this catalog you’ll see different types and kinds who can excel at all levels, regardless your goals this herd and sale offering will have something that will work in your program. ASA #: 3499385 Fort Knox stole the show at the 2019 Werning Cattle Company bull sale and has since seen heavy service on some of the top females in the breed. A limited amount of calves were born in the 2020 calf crop across the country, but the word has spread about their quality. Fort Knox is adding hair, look, and a soft design to his progeny. Look for Fort Knox to pave a new way in the Simmental breed.
