ET Homo Polled Solid Black Bull. In 2012 Escalade smashed the Iowa Beef Expo records and his sons continue to sort themselves to the top. Consistent calving ease, outstanding growth, maternal, & carcass values combined with that extra special “something” that sets them apart from the other sire groups. Well, Elvis is that regal son-of-a-gun that fits that description to the letter. As an embryo transplant son of our Ladonna donor, Elvis hit the ground at just 75 pounds, weaned off the recip at 875 pounds, and posted a yearling weight of 1513 pounds. He combines all of this in a calm, cool package that catches your eye and demands your attention. You’re gonna want to check this hunk-a-hunk-a smokin bull out!

A commercial man’s bull would be the best terms to describe this fall bull. 6g is powerfully constructed, huge top, and has the shape and dimension to his hind quarter that will carry onto his offspring. This bull dam was calf champion in Denver under judge Marshall Ruble in 2015. Out of a Boxcar daughter of our Mystieq donor, Cosmo hit the ground at just 82 pounds. He was our top indexing fall bull at weaning at 870 pounds AND our top indexing fall bull as a yearling at 1471 pounds. His calving ease, growth, and carcass numbers are top notch. We love to invest in cow families and had an opportunity to buy a direct daughter of Sadie from the Owen Brothers out of Missouri. This investment has turned out to very attractive as 21G dam was names Res. Division winner at the National Western. The next year her first heifer calf was named Calf Champion at the Iowa state Fair. Many cattle have been named champion from this historical cow family but more important these cattle perform extremely well in real world environments. The females make excellent cows and many of the bulls have landed as elite herd sires. 21G himself comes in very attractive package and sports a spread of -0.45 on birth weight to + 105.00 of yearling weight. This will be the first Belmont son to grace the sale ring at the Iowa Beef Expo. These cattle are known for their performance and carcass marketability. Buy with confidence in this light birth weight high growth bull.

When looking for a new bull it is sometimes hard to find one that is the complete package but P/S Dream Catcher checks all the boxes of must haves in a sire. He came with ease and possessed tons of vigor at birth. He has been a stand out in the pasture in regards to growth, performance, overall length of body and eye appeal. When you get him in motion he really makes you appreciate how such a thick powerful bull can still be so athletic and free moving.

ET Homozygous polled black blaze faced Bull. This Loaded Up son has been a standout from the day he was born and a crowd favorite at the 2020 Iowa State Fair Simmental Show. His dam is our Fantasia donor, making him a maternal sib to FITZ GIDEON, FITZ ESCALADE, FITZ ROYAL FLUSH, THE $37,500 FITZ FIRST LOOK, FITZ PATSY, and several other bull and heifer sale features. In his own right, Brigadier only weighed 78 pounds at birth and was our high indexing spring bull with a weaning weight of 843 pounds. Check out his fault free structure and fluid motion as he regally glides down the aisle. Ya he knows he’s that good.

If you like a red bull that is salty to look at and just deadly on paper be sure to take a long hard look at H187. H187 is big footed, long sided, and full of power and pounds. Be sure to look this bull up online to! He sits in the top 15% of the breed for calving ease, birthweight, weaning weight, yearling weight, maternal calving ease, yield grade, marbling, back fat, ribeye area, and terminal index. That’s right this isn’t a typo he sits in top 15% of TEN EPD categories. Use him as a heifer bull and you will sleep all night or use him on your cows and watch your weaning weights go up, heck use him on both if you like because he will flat out get the job done. Anymore numbers are a must and when one reads as both a calving ease and a carcass bull we really get fired up. Big number spreads on this bull in a really eye appealing package! We look for this ones dam to be our top up and coming red female and think this bull is a great testament to that. Good feet, good on the profile, good numbers, good demeanor, and a great bull!

Simply put, this bull combines several traits that are hard to find in purebred sires which is why we are excited to offer him up for sale. Clean fronted, sound and soft middled. Breed leading calving ease and BW without compromising growth or the pesky traditional faults Simmentals are sometimes known for. A great candidate to make replacement females with the look to make sharp show heifers as well. A lot of upside here, bid to own!

48H is a complete combination bull. Long and smooth in his design yet still enough power, bone, and foot to make a guy very pleased. “Legend” is out of our top herd sire who has been doing an outstanding job for us the past two years and one of our favorite and most consistent females, hence why she is the only T model cow left on the farm. In 2017 we brought a red half brother to 48H to the expo and he was a crowd favorite that commanded $4,500. In 2019 we took another maternal brother to the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic who was a class winner and is working great for a family in Western Nebraska. “Legend” himself sits in the top 35% of the breed for birth weight and had an actual birthweight of 71lbs so rest easy these cattle will come easy and grow! He is also in the top 35% of the breed for marbling, milk, and API. We think this bull puts a lot together and even in a baldy package. Our loss is your gain here so take advantage of this young sire prospect!

This year we made the decision to offer up our best at the Iowa Beef Expo and thus this trio of daughters by STF Bianca will be in Des Moines for your appraisal. STF Bianca an own daughter of the great Onyx female has laid the foundation for our breeding program for the past few years. This female has produced multiple high sellers in our program and has clicked on every bull we have used. This trio of daughters are a little different in their frame score but all display the added power, foot size, and stellar look their donor dam is well noted for. G03 - Simply has that WOW factor! Flexible at the ground, good hair, and added neck extension and cocky look. G01 - The biggest framed of this group of females with added length of body and a great set of feet and legs underneath her. G07 - The moderate framed beast of the trio, this Blacklist daughter has all the power you’ll ever need. Be sure you make the trip to Des Moines to check out this trio of direct daughters of STF Bianca!

Iowa Bull Buyers Guide • Every bull selling will be free of all known genetic defects either by genetic testing or by pedigree. The ASA abnormality policy is a scientifically based approach to managing and ultimately reducing the incidence of genetic abnormalities in the Simmental breed. Visit the ASA’s website www.simmental.org to learn more. • All bulls must meet strict Iowa Beef Expo performance standards: Minimum weight per day of age of 3 lbs. Minimum adjusted yearling weight of 1100 lbs. Minimum scrotal circumference of 33 cm

• All bulls selling will be ultrasounded for marbling, backfat, and ribeye area. Data will be adjusted to 365 days of age. • All bulls must pass a breeding soundness exam, be halter broke, and have an acceptable disposition. • All bulls selling are guaranteed breeders. These tough standards are in place to give you, the buyer, a premium and problem free product. Let your dollars go further by purchasing bulls who have passed this test!

Quick Guide to ASA EPDs & $ Indexes Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs): The most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels. In using EPDs, the difference between two sires’ EPDs represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny. For example, if sires A & B have EPDs of +10 and -5, a 15 unit difference would be expected in their progeny. Key to using EPDs is knowing what units they are expressed in. For example if the above case referred to weaning weight, A would be expected to sire 15 pounds more at weaning than B. If calving ease were the trait, A would be expected to sire 15 percent more unassisted births in first calf heifers; in other words, if B sired 30 assists in a group of 100 heifers, we’d expect A to require 15 assists. A percentile ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s EPDs rank him relative to other bulls in the breed. $ Indexes: Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide a piece of the economic puzzle. That’s where $ indexes come in. Through well conceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on your bottom line. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry, and dairy genetics over the last several decades. All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade & yield. Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield.

29

Using API & TI: First determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then, just as with EPDs, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described before, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all purpose type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring 100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a 50 API bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd x 4 yr. = $6,000). A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed. For a percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org. Units of Expression of ASA EPDs (listed alphabetically): All-Purpose Index (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all purpose sire scenario. Back Fat (BF): Inches of backfat. Birth Weight (BW): Pound of birth weight Calving Ease (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers. Carcass Weight (CW): Pounds of carcass weight. Maternal Calving Ease (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters. Marbling (MB): Marbling score. Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth. Ribeye Area (REA): Square inches of ribeye. Stayability (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age. Terminal Index (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal sire scenario. Weaning Weight (WW): Pounds of weaning weight. Yearling Weight (YW): Pounds of yearling weight. Yield Grade (YG): Yield grade score.

As P/S Magnetic Lady continues to mature she has me second guessing letting her out of the herd. She is huge boned and deep bodied while remaining feminine. She has a good set of feet and legs and has good extension through her front 1/3. This red baldy Bankroll daughter does the important things well. Flexible off both ends, fluid in her motion, clean in her joints. Long bodied, flat shouldered, extra smooth made. When we buy heifers, we like to look at their dam. Her mother was a picture-perfect cow and was a supreme female several times in her show career.

This one ought to get you excited. H28 is one of the widest based daughters of the great Relentless I’ve ever seen. Big footed, great structured, and still clean chested with enough hair to make an impact in the show ring. This female blends the power needed in the pasture with the look needed in the show ring into an impressive package. You won’t want to miss this high impact female.

This pretty girl was little and green when we first sorted her off, but she just kept catching our eye and getting “promoted” to another group each week. She has made big gains and with her look and sweet disposition she is destined to find her way to a young showman ready to have some fun. She’s out of our clean-up bull; a young, prolific, Hook’s Beacon son that is so good in his structure from the ground up. Long-strided, soft in his pasterns and tremendous about his shoulder and front end. And he’s been passing all of that on to his progeny, which makes us a little less disappointed when one doesn’t settle with AI. The numbers are great here too, so be sure to take a look. Coco may need a little extra time on feed, but she has all the pieces that will come together nicely for those county and state fairs this summer!

This baldy April heifer is the freakiest necked female we’ve ever had on our place. Cattlemen have come to expect certain traits in females regardless of production focus and we feel this gal fits that mold. Dam has a beautiful udder and she routinely weans a big calf. Like her dam this heifer is sound, feminine and cowy. Make a cow into a show heifer, this heifer has the pretty head, neck and flashy look to get the job done in the ring for a youth exhibitor.

Ford Ms. Moco’s Honey comes from the deepest flush to date at Ford Cattle Company and has been one of my personal favorites all year. Maternal in her build with a true cow power look yet possesses the extras to standout on the halter. This one’s mother has simply never missed and a grand dam that was 2009 National Champion Simmental Female. Great opportunity to get in on a genetic gem that offers a tremendous amount of breeding value down the road.

Here is your time to pick up a proven high end genetic opportunity. This heifer pregnancy is a full sibling to our $15,000 high selling female in the Fraker Show Cattle sale last fall. That female has gone on to be shown very successfully this spring. Sired by the exciting new sire Longs Pay to Play and backed by an impressive red donor in our program who is flat getting it done in production. The recip cow is located in Cascade, Iowa and will be there and available for pick up or shipping sale week. Give me a call if you would like details on the recip mother prior to sale time.
