Bootylicious! BeyoncĂŠ wears hotpants to headline Glastonbury with a hitstrewn set watched by Jay-Z and Gwynnie Star blew away naysayers as she closed the festival on the main Pyramid Stage The hoped-for duet with Jay-Z might not have happened - but BeyoncĂŠ blew most of the doubters out of the water last night with her Bootylicious performance to close the Glastonbury Festival. The star was watched by her rapper husband and friend Gwyneth Paltrow as well as 170,000 people on Worthy Farm in Somerset as she tore through an impressive hour-and-a-half set. Wearing just black hotpants and a gold belted jacket with her hair blowing curly and free in the evening breeze, she appeared at times overcome with emotion at the reception she was given.

DYRTS Festival TIPS

Editor Says:

don‘t for W e share our top dos and the festival season.

Summer is here and the festival season is under way. So to help you find the way through the next few months here‘s a list of our top dos and don‘ts. Get there as early as you can. Don‘t leave it too late Find a good camping spot. Near the toilets and next to a fence aren‘t good spots! Take some food. Only bits are needed as there‘s a massive variety available – although pricey. Remember your wellies, coat, hat and sunscreen It can be and will be rainy/ sunny. Be prepared!

And when you get separated from all your friends, you can leave a note in your tent so they know where to find you. DO see something new With loads of new up in coming bands hitting the stages it would be a shame to miss out on the next big thing!!

Festivals are supposed to be fun so to make sure you avoid any of the pit falls and follow DYRT‘s Tips. If you‘re going with friends, always remember to tag team—never go off on your own and if you do—ALWAYS let your friends know exactly where you‘ll be.

Always be aware of your surroundings...watch your drinks—NEVER leave them unattended- and if for some reason you do, DO get some sleep pour it away.. It‘s always With so much going on, safer to buy another than you may be tempted to try risk what may have been put in while you weren‘t one, or even several, allnighters. But remember it looking. is a marathon not a sprint. Be safe, be aware and Those left standing at the most of all have fun. end are invariably the ones who have snuck off for the most cat naps.

DO take a pen and paper Pens never run out of batteries.

ys a d r u t a S The Interview

The Saturdays are five feisty ladies… Frankie, Mollie, Una, Vanessa and Rochelle have gone all ‗gangsta‘ for their latest single ‗Notorious‘ and it seems they have ruffled a few feathers in the process – namely chart topper Example, who had a go at the girls earlier this month. Standing up for herself and band mates, an angry Rochelle Wiseman said the 29-yearold, singer/rapper should stop hiding behind a computer and say what he thinks to their face, something he had the opportunity to do not so long ago. "Example slated us for the lyrics of Notorious. He said we were trying to act like gangsters but we were with him last week in a changing room with just a divider between us and he The Sats recently won Group of the Year at the Glamour women was like a mouse. 24

"There's no point in slating us if he can't do it to our faces." And it seems Rochelle isn‘t the only one with a message for the ‗Changed The Way You Kissed Me‘ singer. Vanessa suggested that Example – real name Elliot Gleave – is all talk and he only disses bands like them to create controversy and get publicity for himself. Una on the other hand thinks Example needs to be sat down, bum smacked and have the air cleared – she‘s even willing to send him the girls album for Christmas. "We've written loads of good songs and maybe if he bought one of our albums, he'd see that. Maybe for Christmas we'll send him an album,‖ said the Irish …… "I think we should speak to him. We've never been ones to hold back and I'd like to see what he's got to say for himself."

There is no doubt that this feisty 5some mean business, and that‘s exactly what they have on their mind. Gearing up for their biggest tour to date, while promoting their forthcoming single, Notorious -The Sats are one busy girl group. ―It's just amazing, that's the only word for it really. It's so exciting and something we've always dreamed of,‖ said Frankie. ―We got our first big break when we supported Girls Aloud on shows of this size and we never thought that

we would get this far in our wildest dreams.‖ ―We'll be pulling out the tricks so more costumes, more dance routines and lots of sparkles! All we know is that we want to fly at some point in the show.‖ Talking about their new single ‗Notorious‘ the girls have said it‘s something quite different to their previous stuff – a more clubbier sound – and despite the rants of Example, the girls love it and they hope their fans do too.

Recording in the studio, promoting their single, organising the tour and learning to fly (something Frankie wants to do in the ‗All Fired Up‘ tour) posing for pics…when do these girls get time to see their boyfriends (yes, sorry to break it to you boys, all but one (Vanessa ;-) ) of The Sats are taken) Mollie, who is dating Dolce & Gabanna model David Gandy, recently told more! Magazine that her current fella is only her fourth snog. Speaking about her new man, Mollie went on to say: "He makes me laugh.

26

And he's really grounded. I like the fact that when we're together we never really talk about work. I don't want someone who's obsessed with this world. I also love kissing.

Bandmate Frankie told more! she doesn't see boyfriend Wayne Bridge as a stereotypical footballer. "You can't ever say for sure that someone would never do that, but I feel like it's really intimate Wayne's different. We and very special. I've only don't hang out with other kissed four boys in my players, and I'm not really life." interested in being a WAG. We've both had She went on to say: past relationships that "People keep saying to were in the public eye. me, 'Oh, well done Moll,' This is more private, and like I've achieved someso much nicer." thing. But if the rest of the girls are there, they say, Rochelle revealed that 'He's done well, actually.' despite their November I'm like, 'Yeah! You go split, she and JLS singer girls!'" Marvin are "happier than ever". Mollie wasn't the only one spilling the beans on her "We're really good. I think love life. in every long-term

relationship you go through things that test you, and sometimes you need that to realise what you've got. And that's what happened with us when we had our break. We were so busy at the time, we didn't think we'd be able to see each other. We're solid now, and that's all that matters. We're happier and stronger than we ever were." So boys, if you want to bag yourself a Saturday you need to know the following: · how to make a girl laugh · how to kiss · how to play football · make time for her · listen to what she has to say (even if its not all that interesting)

irls Ultra G iew Interv

Shot at Marks Hotel, Glasgow

By Lennon Georgina

You may think you‘ve seen girl bands before but it‘s been a long time since you‘ve seen one quite like the Ultra Girls. Going back to the roots of what it means to be girls in a band, Lucy, Lauren, Amy and Laura are taking the essence of Girl Power but moving it into the 21st Century by adding slick dance moves, funky vocals and lashings of attitude.

Photographer Joe Gibson

Lucy, who describes herself as the cheeky, gobby one, always causing trouble, says it has taken hard work and dedication to get to this point. ―Before we actually formed as a

After the X-Factor we all became more confident as a group and knew this was something we wanted to do, we knew exactly what direction we wanted to go in.‖

Photographer Joe Gibson Lauren, who is virtually un-recognisable from the show - from the fiery hair to the wash board abs – says it‘s time for a new girl group, one who can have as bit an impact on the world as the Spice Girls.

―We wanted something that would stand out, this is where ‗Ultra‘ came from. Then we just put it together – The Ultra Girls – it just clicked and felt like us.‖

―We‘re all about girl power and trouble with a Capital T,‖ she jokes. ―On a serious note, the Spice Girls are our inspiration. They had such a huge impact on music and we‘d love to follow that.‖

So what do you have to do to be in The Ultra Army - we at DYRT discovered you should be confident, not be afraid to say what‘s on your mind, and be willing to have fun…with a little mischief on the side.

―We‘re quite similar in the way that we‘ve kept our own individual style and personalities,‖ explained Lucy ―There‘s definitely a space for that type of girl group at the moment and we believe we can fill it.‖ Creating an impact was a definite must for the girls, starting with a name change. ―At first we were called ‗Project A‘, we just came up with that name on the spot, but when we began to start recording in the studio we decided that we should come up with a new name,‖ explained Lauren.

And for you guys who fancy impressing the Ultra Girls (who all but Amy are single) listen up – Lucy says you should have a GSOH, be able to make her laugh, be easy on the eye and not take yourself too seriously.. Laura just loves boys and guitars and to impress Lauren you should dust off your sharpest outfit because this girl like a guy who know how to dress. 30

Scottish Rockers Twin Atlantic - Interview Georgina Lennon sits down with Scottish Rockers, Twin Atlantic.

On a recent trip to their hometown of Glasgow, rockers Sam and Craig from Twin Atlantic took DYRT backstage. For people who have never heard of Twin Atlantic – tell us a bit about your story so far? Sam: ―In a nutshell, Twin Atlantic are a band from Glasgow who met at school, liked the same bands and music, so started going to gigs together and became hooked by what we seen. From there Ross learnt how to play guitar, which made me jealous, so of course I had to learn. Along with Craig and Barry, we started to play together in the Glasgow underground music scene, worked really hard, toured with lots of random bands and then a couple years ago we got record deal and recorded Vivarium.‖

Following the release of your first album, Vivarium, you toured with Blink 182 & My Chemical Romance… During this time you have said you felt you ‗lost‘ yourself in a way – which you talk about in the single ‗Edit Me‘ – How would you say you‘ve changed now, reformed as a group? Sam: ―In all honesty I think what really happened is we became a little too self aware. We had a lot of people trying to give us advice, usually for good reason but we got caught up in it and it began creeping into simple things from getting our photo taken to what to wear. ―Essentially we now try not to care. Don‘t get me wrong we care about the fans and the music but what we do now is try not to please everyone and hope that like minded people will appreciate that. Ross: ―It not that our management or anyone forced anything on us, we just got wrapped up in all the madness but there came a point were you could say we had an epiphany and realised we had lost our way a bit. Thankfully were back on the straight and narrow now.‖

How would you say ‗Free‘ differs from your first album, Vivarium? Tell us a bit about the tracks on this album…what‘s your favourite track? Sam: ―I‘d say its more straight forward, a bit popier. I know most folk hate when bands do that, but I think we‘ve achieved it in a way that makes our songs more impactful, grungier even. The music comes from all our own experiences. I was only 18 when we started band and to stand at side of stage, listening to our hero‘s play, soaking that up. We‘ve channelled that into our sound and the way we want our future to be and that‘s what we‘ve tried to do with this album.‖ Sam: I‘d say ‗Free‘ or ‗The Joy of Eddie‘ is my favourite. Considering his impressive back catalogue, how was it working with such an esteemed producer as Gil Norton? Sam: ―It was weird when it was confirmed - I kept on thinking, 'Will we live up to what he's done before?' - But all our nerves disappeared within about a minute of meeting him! He's just a really normal, down to earth guy from Liverpool.

Gil has been recording for 20 years so really knows his stuff so was ale to pass on bits n pieces from his experience, for instance, we‘d be playing a straight beat and he‘d say ‗well if you added like a rolling groove here it would flow better‘ Once or twice he asked are your sure you want to say that – is that actually what you mean – pointing out things we maybe hadn‘t noticed or thought about past that particular line. It was great to have his opinion and influence because when you‘re writing sometimes you‘re too close.‖ You guys are playing at T in the Park and have just played at the Glasgow Barrowlands…Being that you‘re Scottish, do you feel an added pressure when you perform for your home audience? Ross: ―Glasgow is a much bigger audience and being that it‘s our home town it does make it a little scarier, especially with family + friends here. You have that fear of not messing up.‖ Sam: ―I used to hate it, when I‘d see the Glasgow/Scottish dates on the tour sheet I‘d get really stressed.

It‘s something I never thought I‘d get used to but loading in tonight I felt really comfortable – maybe because I‘ve been striving to play here for years since I was a wee guy.‖ What's the plan for you guys over the next few months? We've got a European tour lined up, where we'll be playing loads of new places, then we'll have some time off before hitting the Festival circuit. After that we'll write some new songs, before maybe heading across to America. How is America? It‘s always the place bands strive to make it…how have you found it? Sam: I think America is great; I love playing to new people and doing lots of tours, and because of the size of the USA, there is always plenty of both!

Obviously a lot of bands that influenced us are American – my personal favourites being the late Kurt Cobain and Bruce Springsteen. Their stuff is real gritty and honest, there‘s just something they do is really believable. Every time I hear them it lights a fire underneath me to go write my own stuff.‖ Finally, what do you hope to achieve from these next 12 months?

―It'd be brilliant to be able to translate our success in Scotland to the rest of the UK, but we'll keep doing it in little steps. I'm a music lover, so just to keep on doing what we're doing really. ―We do it coz its great fun and if people respond to it in a positive way that‘s amazing.‖ Twin Atlantic‘s album ‗Free‘ is OUT NOW.

Sam: ―I hope to keep progressing, both as a songwriter and a guitarist. I also want to make new friends and keep on riding the rock and roll rollercoaster!‖ 36

DYRT’s

Benjamin Francis Leftwich Georgina Lennon caught up with the UK‘s hottest new singer song writer.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich…if you haven‘t heard his name before you soon will! After releasing his debut EP ‗A Million Miles Out‘ at the end of 2010, he quickly found himself on the most prestigious playlists around as Radio 1DJs Zane Lowe and Fearne Cotton fell for Benjamin‘s assuming charms. He was also added to XFM‘s Evening Playlist, while Jo Whiley made Benjamin‘s track ‗Atlas Hands‘ one of her Tracks of 2010 and he was also asked to record a live session for Radio 2‘s Dermot O‘Leary. Benjamin‘s version of ‗Rebellion‘ by Arcade Fire has since been downloaded over 30,000 times. With his debut single ‗Box of Stones‘ out now and his first major album ‗Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm due for release next month, DYRT caught up with Benjamin when he played in Glasgow this month and this is what he had to say…. For anyone who hasn‘t heard of you, tell DYRT a bit about your journey so far?

―I listened to lot music when I was younger and taught myself to play guitar when I was about 10, but couldn‘t quite get it so became quite disillusioned by it and gave up till I was about 14. At age 15, I began writing songs and playing with a band on the York music scene - It was then I became really serious about music as a career option.

When I was about 18 I began working seriously as a solo artist, writing the songs which now make up this and the pervious album, and decided to send out a demo… I got interest from a couple of people which led to the release of the first EP ‗A Million Miles Out‘ last year and it‘s all kind of snowballed from there.‖

38

Tell us a bit about you as an artist – who are your influences, who did you look up to as a kid?

when it comes to writing and recording. I‘ve been working on them ever since really.‖

―I‘d say my influences have never changed. I‘ve always loved The Beatles, Neil Young and Elliot Smith. …Ryan Adams + Bruce Springsteen are my personal favourites - I love the provocative nature of their tunes and the constantly good tunes on all the albums they‘ve had.‖

―A couple of people have described some of my songs as love songs but there‘s a level of ambiguity in them I think. I try not to ever focus on a central theme. I just bring together inspiration from around me and put it all into a song. Some songs are more direct, but there‘s always that level of ambiguity.‖

―I think people like Adele are great because her voice in particular is amazing, which proves that pop can still be good,‖ he says. ―With her, the song is the main thing. The song is everything.‖ Talk to us about the album ‗Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm‘ – You started writing it when you were 17 & are now 21 – Why did it take so long? What does it say about you as an artist/ writer? ―It was important for me to make sure the album was right before putting it out there. All 11 songs have been written over past 4/5 years…―A lot of the songs on there I wrote when I was about 17 or 18,‖ Benjamin confirms. ―I really wanted to get their sound right and I‘m a bit of a perfectionist

―Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm‘ is my favourite track, probably because I was in a good place when I wrote it. It was in Sydney two Christmases ago…I have great memories of where I was when I wrote it , how it came about, where I recorded it… everything which makes it special. You‘ve been praised by the likes of Zane Lowe, Fearne Cotton, Jo Whiley, Dermot O‘Leary and pretty much everyone else who‘s listened to your music…How does that feel being that you‘re relatively new to the game?

―The first time it happened I was walking to a friend‘s house in York. I got a text from a mate saying ‗your song is on Radio 1!‘ and I texted him back saying ‗Fuck off!‘ I thought it was a joke. I thought the EP might sell a couple of hundred copies and that would be good enough. I think there‘s been an element of word-of-mouth with it, and I‘m happy people are listening to my music.‖ For me, I haven‘t really taken to ‗fame‘…probably because I feel nothing has changed. I still do the same things - hang with friends & family, go listen to bands, hang out at the beach, write and play music.‖ You‘re almost finished the tour for the album… how has it been? ―The tour has been really busy, people are loving it and it‘s been all good. I‘m a bit tired now but def worthwhile. I love just paying music so if I can entertain while doing it I‘m happy. Everyone has been amazing, so I‘d say it‘s been a really positive experience for me.‖

―It‘s really cool to have that sort of support from radio – it has been so unexpected - I didn‘t know people were going to have that reaction.

I‘m also playing at Glastonbury, Lounge on the Farm in Canterbury, Camp Bestival, I Tunes Festival, Belladrum and a few more.‖ What‘s your thoughts on talent shows like Britain‘s Got Talent and The X Factor? ―I don‘t think much in terms of way they take people and put them in a ‗place/situation‘ they think they should be. 40

Ten ways to get fit Exercise doesn't have to mean torturing yourself at the gym. Here are 10 ways to get fit while you have fun. Karate This is one of the best total-body workouts, helping you shed fat, build muscle and even improve your concentration. Make sure you go to classes that are registered with the English Karate Federation, so you know you're being taught by a real expert. Football Whatever your skill level, from Drogba to donkey, a kickabout is an excellent way to get in

shape. A jumpers-forgoalposts game is good, but if you start a team you are guaranteed regular games, meaning your skills and general fitness will quickly improve. Orienteering Think you can navigate cross-country with just a map, a compass and your instincts to aid you? It's like a giant treasure hunt – you‘ve got to reach a series of checkpoints in the quickest time, so it exercises both body and mind. Visit the British Orienteering website for more information.

Unlike other team games you're always part of the action, so there‘s no equivalent of being stuck in goal. Even if you‘re not traditionally sporty, you could turn out to be a real sharpshooter. Street dance Learn some of the breakdancing and hip-hop moves that you see in your favourite videos and get fit in the process. Plenty of organisations offer street-dancing classes all around the UK. Why not lace up your trainers and get moving? For some inspiration watch our video below on how you can get active with street dancing.

Climbing This is a great way to build your upper body and get an all-round workout. You can do it indoors, and go at your own pace. Paintball It's fast, fun and gives you a real adrenaline rush. 42

Ice hockey The world‘s fastest team game is rough, tough and great fun. You never stop moving so you get a very intense workout, both burning fat and building muscle. Most rinks have several teams, so even skating novices can try.

Basketball Basketball is an easy way to work out – you can play solo, testing your shooting skills, or as part of a team. Height is obviously an advantage, but there are some very successful short players, such as Muggsy Bogues who, at 1.60m (5' 3") tall, is the shortest-ever NBA player

Skateboarding If regular sports aren‘t your thing, you can still get in shape with a few flips and grinds. Skateboarding gives you an intense workout, can increase your selfconfidence and provides another way to get around.

Mountain biking Cycling is great exercise. You‘ll burn a ton of calories and get leaner, more powerful legs. Hard work on the way up those hills is repaid by a thrilling downhill run – perfect for adrenaline junkies.

Body Image Article The Facts Many people think of guys as being carefree when it comes to their appearance. But the reality is that a lot of guys spend plenty of time in front of the mirror. Guys might think that they shouldn't worry about how they look, that it‘s not ‗manly‘ but body image can be a real problem. Unlike girls, guys are less likely to talk to friends and relatives about their bodies and how they're developing.

Your health, your choices

Having a positive body image means feeling pretty satisfied with the way you look, appreciating your body for its capabilities and accepting its imperfections. Body image is part of someone's total selfimage. So how a guy feels about his body can affect how he feels about himself. If a guy gets too focused on not liking the way he looks, his selfesteem can take a hit and his confidence can slide. (The same thing can happen to girls, too.)

How Puberty Affects Body Image Although body image is just one part of our selfimage, during the teen years, and especially during puberty, it can be easy for a guy's whole self-image to be based on how his body looks.

That's because our bodies are changing so much during this time that they can become the main focus of our attention.

Why Is Body Image Important? Body image is a person's opinions, thoughts, and feelings about their own body and physical appearance. Body image is part of someone's total selfimage.

Nike Master Trainer, Brian Cochrane

The good news - selfimage and body image can be changed.

44

A change in your body can be tough to deal with emotionally — mainly because, well, your body is yours and you have become used to it.

Some guys don't feel comfortable in their changing bodies and can feel as if they don't know who they are anymore.

Being the only guy whose voice is changing or who's growing body hair (or the only guy who isn't) can also make some guys feel self-conscious for a while.

It Could Be in Your Genes

When Everyone Else Seems Bigger

Lots of guys can have high expectations for puberty, thinking they'll develop quickly or in a certain way. The best way to approach your own growth and development is to not assume you'll be a certain way.

Not everyone's body changes at the same time or even at the same pace.

Look at everyone in your family — uncles, grandfathers, and even female relatives — to get an idea of the kinds of options your genes may have in store for you.

It can be tough if all of your friends have already matured physically and are taller and more muscular. Most boys eventually catch up in terms of growth, although some will always be taller or more muscular than others — it's in their genes. It's natural to observe friends and classmates and notice the different ways they're growing and developing.

Body Image Article Getting changed for PE/ Gym is one of the most difficult time for a boy as this is usually where they notice the difference between them and their classmates. You could try talking to a trusted male adult — maybe a coach, a doctor, a teacher, or your dad. Chances are they went through similar experiences and had some of the same feelings and apprehensions when their bodies were changing. Building a Better Body Image So in the face of all the pressure society places on guys — and guys place on themselves — what can you do to fuel a positive body image? Here are some ideas:

What does your body do well? Maybe your speed, flexibility, strength, or coordination leads you to excel at a certain sport. Or perhaps you have non-sports skills, like drawing, painting, singing, playing a musical instrument, writing, or acting. Just exploring talents that you feel good about can help your self-esteem and how you think of yourself. A good body doesn't always translate into athletic success. Too often, the way boys see their body image is closely associated with their performance on a sports field or in the gym. The upside to this is that if you're good at a team sport, you might have a pretty good view of your body.

But what if you don't like team sports or you got cut from a team you really wanted to make? In these cases, it helps to look at individual accomplishments. Look into starting a strength training program. Exercise can help you look good and feel good about yourself. Good physiques don't just happen — they take hard work, regular workouts, and a healthy diet. There's no need to work out obsessively - a healthy routine can be as simple as exercising 20 minutes to 1 hour three days a week. Another benefit to working out properly is that it can boost your mood — lifting weights can lift your spirits.

Recognise your strengths. Different physical attributes and body types are good for different things — and sometimes the things you did well as a kid can change during puberty. 46

Villas-Boas - Don't call me special Blues boss would prefer to be called the 'Group One'

Villas-Boas is unveiled by Chelsea and will be tasked with winning the Premier League and Champions League

New Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas does not want to be called the 'Special One' until he has brought success to Stamford Bridge. The 33-year-old was appointed earlier in June as ruthless Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's seventh manager in as many years after Porto were paid a staggering ÂŁ13.2million release clause.

Abramovich's seemingly all-consuming dream of the UEFA Champions League will involve somehow overthrowing the brilliant Barcelona. To add to the pressure on the Portuguese, he worked as an opposition scout at Stamford Bridge under former boss and compatriot Jose Mourinho, the club's most successful manager of the modern era, to mean that comparisons have been drawn to the self-titled 'Special One'.

Predecessor Carlo Ancelotti was abruptly sacked on the final day of last season for failing to win a trophy, despite Mourinho gave himself the nickname securing the Premier League and FA when he was unveiled at Chelsea in Cup Double in his debut campaign in 2004, but Villas-Boas would prefer the England. slightly less catchy title of the 'Group One' as he focuses on team spirit in As a result, Villas-Boas will be tasked West London. with recovering the league title from Manchester United, while

Villas-Boas, who won the Europa League as well as the Portuguese League and cup with Porto last season, also insisted he is not fazed by the demands for success placed on managers at Chelsea.

"I hope to be successful and I hope you get a good title in the end.

He said: "The expectations are for the maximum. We want to win trophies, that is the challenge we face day by day in any business.

Villas-Boas also side-stepped questions about how he may look to take on established Premier League managers such as United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. Powerful "It's not just a question of me taking on Sir Alex, it's a top club like Chelsea challenging for the title," he said. Young up for the challenge New signing knows competition for places will be fierce

Ashley Young is well aware that he is going to have to fight for a first-team place at Manchester United after completing his multi-million pound move to Old Trafford. Although last season was not a vintage campaign for Sir Alex Ferguson's club, they still finished nine points clear of Chelsea to lift their record 19th league title. The retirement of Paul Scholes and the release of the injury-plagued Owen Hargreaves has freed up some space in midfield. But Young knows he will still have to battle for a starting berth as he competes with the likes of Antonio Valencia, Nani and Ji-sung Park. "There's a lot of competition for places at the club," the England international told MUTV.

Winning mentality "If you are in the team there is always

going to be someone biting away at your heels trying to get in. "I'm going to be coming in looking to establish myself in the team. "I know it is going to be a challenge, but I'm up for that challenge. "It is a fantastic team. The club always produces fantastic players. They have that winning mentality. "I hope to be a part of that this season. I can't wait to get started." Creativity Young became United's second signing of the summer, following Blackburn's England Under 21 international Phil Jones after he was signed for ÂŁ16.5million almost a fortnight ago. The forward scored 39 goals in 193 appearances with Villa but, significantly, in the past five Premier League seasons only Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has provided more assists. 50

Juve step up Aguero bidnAgent says Atletico striker tempted by Serie A switch Sergio Aguero's agent is keeping in contact with Juventus and says there is a 'concrete' chance the Atletico Madrid striker could move to the Italian club. Argentina international Aguero is keen to leave Atletico over the summer and has been linked with a string of clubs, including arch-rivals Real Madrid and Chelsea. However, Juve have spent much of the summer trying to agree a deal for the 23year-old as the Old Lady embark on a rebuilding process following a disappointing last season. Atletico reportedly want â‚Ź45million (ÂŁ40.3m) for Aguero, with the highlyrated forward open to a transfer to Turin. His representative Bruno Satin confirmed talks are ongoing and that there is a strong possibility that Aguero could move to Serie A. "Contact with the Bianconeri has been constant," Satin told Tuttosport. "Aguero wants to move to a big club and Juventus fits this profile."We are aware of the club's rebuilding plans, but that isn't enough to impede an agreement. "The chances of seeing Aguero wear the Juve jersey are concrete."

Ramos attracting interest

Tentative approaches have been made for Sergio Ramos, with reports suggesting he is willing to leave Real Madrid. Speculation in Spain claims the versatile defender is furious with his current employers after they backtracked on contract promises. Ramos believes he was entitled to a bumper pay rise this summer, but has seen fresh terms fail to materialise. He is now prepared to consider offers from elsewhere, with numerous clubs willing to dig deep in an effort to secure his signature. Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City have been linked with big-money moves, with both clubs expected to splash the cash during the transfer window.

Wladimir's only entertaining out of the ring, blasts Haye.

The Ukrainian has won plenty of hearts and minds with his press appearances in the United Kingdom in the run-up to their Hamburg blockbuster, live on Sky Sports Box Office HD and in 3D, on July 2nd. Haye has been mocked for not shaking Klitschko's hand, has stooped to basic insults in a head-to-head to be screened in America by HBO and is likely to upset his opponent further with an iPhone app which is all about knocking the head off an anonymous eastern European. The Londoner may not have won over as many neutrals with his approach but admits he has no interest in coming across as articulate and intelligent, let alone amusing.

Kevin Rutkiewicz

Georgina Lennon sat down with DYRT‘s resident blogger & professional footballer Kevin Rutkiewicz. Tell me a bit about your background, where u grew up, brother/sisters, what you were like as a kid? Hey so I‘m Kevin Rutkiewicz. I hail from the east end of Glasgow and suffered, only joking, enjoyed a fantastic upbringing in Royston. My mum Matilda and Dad Ernest have been and still are the biggest influences in how I want to live my life. I have one brother, Ernie, who is eight years my elder and I love reminding him about this!!

Morris scored the only goal of the game. Ironically I‘ve just realised I‘m now playing with Dunfermline ha-ha. This brings me to becoming a pro. It wasn't really a conscience decision I made it just sort of happened and seemed like the right thing to do.

I played at Hampden in a friendly for the Glasgow schools select side and after the Being brought up in Royston was great game an Aberdeen scout invited me there and although at some point you have for trials. I can pretty much tell you from that to make a decision as to what road phone call my mind was made up that I you want to go down I loved every wanted to become a footballer!! minute of it. I was always quite mischievous but never really got inTell me about your earliest music memvolved in anything considered just ory..Who did you grow up listening to, who plain bad. Hey we all have to be a litinspired you? tle naughty sometimes do we not?? I loved my football when I was young, all sport actually. I enjoyed golf and snooker days with my dad and bro and had a great laugh making up stupid dances with my mum listening to all her 60's and 70's music!! Tell me about your earliest football memory..Where you were when you decided you wanted to be a professional player, describe that 'light bulb' moment?

As I've said earlier I enjoyed making up dances with my mum Tilda. Well she was probably my biggest and earliest inspiration for music. I have released my first album recently but it all started way back listening every day to my mum singing along with her music doing the housework. It was all Motown, Abba and all that fantastic 60's and 70's stuff that I grew up with and still listen to that ignited my love for music. I have since obviously acquired my own tastes and spend most of my time listening to acoustic.

My earliest football memory is walking over to the old Celtic Park with my dad Ray Lamontagne, Jack Savoretti and Paolo and watching Celtic beat Dunfermline Nutini are up there with favourites but there one nil in their centenary season of 1988. It was a beautiful day and Chris are many many more!! 54

When you signed your first contract how did that feel? Tell us about your experiences? ―So to tell you a little about my football. It all started at Aberdeen and it has been a big rollercoaster ride. Signing on the dotted line for the first time was an amazing feeling and one of my own personal proudest moments. I wasn't aware of how hard it can be at that time but can tell you that every ounce of sweat I‘ve produced it has been worth it. Memories like playing in the UEFA Cup spring to mind but my crowning moment so far was captaining St Johnstone to the 1st Division title. A very proud moment and one I will always cherish.‖ ―That is some of the perks but I‘ve suffered a lot with injury and was told to retire at the age of 25. I had suffered an ankle injury and the operation wasn't quite as successful as we thought it would be. My ankle was in a very bad way and with no lateral ligaments was advised to hang the boots up. Being a boy I wanted to show my toughness by saying," no I‘m going to go on"!! It was a very tough time and kept me from playing for almost 14 months BUT the feeling I got when I first pulled the strip back on and walked out onto the park was the best sense of achievement I‘ve ever had.‖ You've been playing professional football for the past 13 years..How do you go from that to deciding to go into music? What pushed you to go for it + release an album? My music career actually started when I had an injury. I was at Aberdeen and had picked up an injury.

I decided to kill time I would buy a guitar and teach myself. It was all just a bit of fun and I didn't really take it seriously until my ankle injury at St Johnstone. During my rehab I was asked to play a charity gig for Oxfam and thought what the hell it‘s for a good cause and will be loads of fun. I had started to write my own stuff at this point and performed one of my own songs at the gig. 'Fair Drawin in ' was the song and I got a great reception. It was from this night that I thought I would have a go at writing an album. I have as I‘ve said since released my album and its going really well. Two singles have been released and there will be a third. Music is now something I‘m heavily involved in, from writing and performing to reviewing albums by other artists and hopefully I can give you a few wee gems of up and coming stars in the near future!!!! How has your season been? What are your hopes for next season? Well football has given me another emotional ride this season. I started at St Johnstone suffered injury and loss of form then ended it on loan at Dunfermline winning the 1st division title again and have now committed myself to another year at East End Park!! As for the future well I‘m pushing on in years, you can tell me I‘m not if you want ha-ha, so music will become more and more of an influence in everyday life for me. I hope to carve out a career for myself in this industry but realise its going to be just as hard to make it in music if not harder. There will be some more sweating to be done!!!!!

Green Lantern Review Not so super. Ryan Reynolds bulks up and suits up to play the popular DC Comics character, a top gun turned superhero. For all the talk of conquering fear and harnessing energy, Lantern ironically plays it safe and gets grounded by a leaden, spiritless adaptation. The Bigger Picture: Green might be the color of willpower, per the Lantern lore, but it's also the color of money. Warner Bros. has invested gobs in this potential cash-cow franchise, and though Lantern glitters like gold, with an attractive cast and razzledazzle effects, it's ultimately as cold and bythe-numbers as a profit calculator. In the clichéd setup, pilot Hal Jordan (Reynolds) is a reckless daredevil in the sky and a cocksure cad on the ground. During a test flight, he freezes up while flashing back to his dad's death (expository much?) and risks being fired by childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), now an aerospace exec in tight pencil skirts.

Reynolds and his usually reliable charisma can't stand up to the rote script—with typical shrieking/ morphing and training sequences— and CGI wizardry, which becomes increasingly videogame-like. He and Lively strike few sparks together, and though Carol is a former pilot, she gets sidelined as the pretty woman-in-waiting. Also flirted with (but abandoned) are themes of corporate and political corruption—the film is more intent on bombastic spectacle. Peter Sarsgaard's (Hector Hammond) quirky performance and that nifty set piece offer glimmers of excitement in an otherwise dim Lantern.

Meanwhile, out in the Universe, an evil entity named Parallax (the film's coolest effect) destroys a member of the Green Lantern Corps, the intergalactic squadron of peacekeepers. Surprisingly, Hal is chosen to replace the dead warrior, but can this reluctant recruit, even with a ring that grants him special powers, overcome his fears to defeat Parallax and save the Earth?

Washington, D.C. I didn't know how many nuclear missiles the Russians had, but I knew damn well that a whole bunch of them were pointed at the nation's capital. Seeing WAR GAMES for the first time as a teen did not do me a bit of good.

Transformers Review www.aintitcool.com/node/49648 It's very late in Chicago right now, and I contemplated getting a decent night's sleep before tackling this review. But I'll be honest, the way my brain is spinning right now with thoughts of images I've just seen and the sheer destruction I've just experienced, sleep ain't happening. You see, I've just come from seeing TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, the third and easily best entry in the Michael Baydirected franchise, and all I wanted to do when I left the theater was gaze upon my beautiful city, just to make sure it was in one piece. Let me say two quick things before I dive into this review. The first is that, as a kid growing up, I could not have cared less about Transformers--the toys, TV show, or animated movie. When it was first announced that a liveaction TRANSFORMERS movie was being made, directed by Bay, I couldn't have cared less, not because I didn't dig Bay's work but because I simply didn't care about the subject matter.

Make no mistake, D.C. takes a hell of a beating in DARK OF THE MOON, but it was in the final hour of this TRANSFORMERS chapter that I simply forgot to breathe; there isn't a spare second to do so. For a solid hour, Bay and his CGI-created robot buddies decimate Chicago. And I won't lie: seeing it so realistically and utterly leveled was almost more than I could handle. Granted, people outside of Chicago probably won't have the same reaction I did (I didn't even get a little misty eyed watching California sink into the Pacific during 2012, or New York die in countless sci-fi stories), but our city has never been the victim of an alien hate crime like this before. And as much as it hurt to see, I also loved watching it happen.

Second, and perhaps more directly relevant to this discussion, the only nightmares I remember having as a child (we're talking Reagan-era 1980s) involved the destruction of the city I was living in at the time,

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Green Lantern: Rise Of The Manhunters

(12) The game is inspired by the feature film, which brings the enduringly popular DC Comics super hero to the big screen for the first time. In the videogame, players will utilize over a dozen constructs and take flight across the deepest parts of the Universe to restore intergalactic order by wielding the ultimate weapon: the Green Lantern power ring.

F.E.A.R. 3 (18) Alma returns in F.E.A.R. 3 but this time her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel introduce divergent co-op, giving players distinctly different abilities affecting their own play as well as the experience of their co-op partner. Gamers participate in single player or co -op modes as Point Man, a genetically enhanced super soldier originally introduced in F.E.A.R., or they can play cooperatively as his conniving brother Paxton Fettel, whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave.

(12) Transformers: Dark Of The Moon the video game allows players to fight through the epic battles on Earth that will shape the events of the upcoming film. Armed with a brand-new gameplay mechanic, fans will harness the power of Stealth Force to instantly convert to a third, hybrid state that combines the weapons and firepower of robot mode with the agility and manoeuvrability of vehicle mode.

Check out DYRT’s Games Previews Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel to the original Deus Ex which was released in June, 2000. It follows Sarif Industries security officer Adam Jensen after an attack on his firm. Severely injured, Jensen is kept alive through controversial human augmentation. Set in the sprawling neonscape of 2027 Detroit, Deus Ex: Human Revolution gives you control of Jensen as he works to understand the conspiracies that surround him. Human Revolution fuses traditional first-person shooting with role-playing mechanics, giving you the ability to customize Jensen's abilities and tackle conflicts in the way that suits you. If you want to avoid combat all together, you can sneak your way through the battlefield. If you want to take control of the enemy's sentry turrets, you can hack into them. The choice is yours.

The gauge is split into multiple segments that recharge automatically when Jensen remains neutral. If you deplete an entire segment, you'll have to recharge that segment later, forcing you to be careful of overusing Jensen's abilities. Because Adam Jensen has a variety of powerful abilities at his disposal, including cloaking, enhanced strength, and more,

his actions are governed by a power gauge. Check out the video by clicking here

Battlefield 3 multiplayer: 10 things you need to know 1. The Medic and Assault classes have merged When you're primarily responsible for giving and receiving the pain, it makes sense for you to carry a few sticking plasters. Battlefield's Assault class now has the ability to drop medipacks and zap downed players with the defibrillator. Will catastrophic class imbalance result? The jury's out. 2. Say hello to the Support class Absent from Bad Company 2, the Support class has been rounded out with a new bipod attachment that allows you to steady your aim when prone or up against cover.

3. Vehicles take regional damage You can now target the treads or turrets on tanks, APCs and the like, for a more calculating take on anti-vehicular warfare. On the flipside, this gives drivers more options when they're up against it. If you lose mobility, you might be able to fend off attackers with the mounted gun till help arrives. 4. Suppression mechanic rewards you for missing Time was, you had to hit stuff (or complete objectives) to climb the old class progression ladder. In Battlefield 3, forcing another player to keep his or her head down will produce a steady stream of experience points. It's a welcome shot in the arm for teamplay. 5. Stealth-killed players drop personalised dogtags Players can now tailor their own dogtags. Duff another trooper on the sly, and you'll be able to appreciate the fruits of his or her handiwork.

7. Engineers get flashlights If the idea of punishing foes with the wrath of dispersing photons seems ludicrous, you clearly haven't faced an engineer packing an underslung flashlight in a subway corridor. The beam is more than powerful enough to scupper the victim's aim. 8. Operation Metro mixes subways with parks Split into four distinct regions reportedly large enough to function as maps in themselves, Paris-based Operation Metro is the one Battlefield 3 map covered in detail so far (save for those stuffed into the Back to Karkand DLC pack). It sounds like a hoot. You've got broad green parklands with merry-go-rounds and slides, and gloomy, ambush-friendly subway tunnels. New regions are unlocked by airstrike after you've captured the requisite M-COM stations in Rush mode. 9. Weapons have three attachment slots We're not sure whether this applies to the Xbox 360 version, but PC users will get three attachment slots per gun. Just imagine what you could add. We're crossing our fingers for chainsaw bayonets.

6. Snipers need to hold their breath Sniping is no longer a walk in the park, or even a crouch in the long grass. You'll need to hold a button to clench your lungs for optimum accuracy.

10. The LAV-25 is an anti-infantry powerhouse Operation Metro also introduced us to the LAV-25, a heavy-duty armoured vehicle equipped with a gun and night vision. We'd prefer a tank, but this'll do nicely.
