The Project intends to ground itself in the local community and offers a glimpse of Tampa’s Identity to the hotel patrons. The Grand Central Hotel is located at the intersection of Grand Central Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. The site marks the western entrance to downtown Tampa. The proposal is a mixed use program of retail, parking (for the new and existing retail), a hotel with two hundred units and an elevated public green space. Tampa’s unique urban fabric calls for a smaller scale and sensitivity to the street condition. The project is intended activate the area west of the river and act as a catalyst for future development.

Tampa Skyline | The Entry

The tower is situated between two primary thoroughfares which creates an opportunity for the towers formal geometries to define the entry to downtown Tampa. The hotel program was broken down between the horizantal and vertical bars to allow for an elegant and slender tower to emerge. The east facades verticle extension was intented to offer a smaller scale as it touched the sky.
